Cheve a country south of Nohr; it is famed for producing highly skilled knights and for Nohr a valuable resource for its kingdom. According to Garon, the people were brought up under a code of honor and chivalry, which made it very unsurprising that this would be one of the major locations for a rebellion. Back in the day, Cheve was the first country to be conquered and to become part of the Nohrian Kingdom, however back then, despite being conquered their relationship was a healthy one, they held mutual respect and shared their resources to survive in their dying land.
"What's the plan Commander?" Fay asked, the company of soldiers were stationed just at the border of the city where the heart of the rebellion is stationed. Corrin was overlooking the city, staring at the small balls of fire that lit up the city, it looked so peaceful.
"The rebels know we're coming, but they will be expecting a large frontal assault so we'll split up into five small groups" he pulled out a map of the city, courtesy of Leo. His soldiers gathered around him while he pointed to five points on the map. "Each group will infiltrate the city at these locations, keep in mind they most likely will have evacuated all the civilians so blending in as one of them will not be an option"
"What do you suggest?" Silas asked.
"Keep to the shadows, we will move when the guards change their shifts" Corrin told them. "Keep in mind these rebels are all highly trained knights, getting past their detection will be a challenge"
"Don't worry about us commander, we'll get it done" Baxter told him, everyone agreeing with him. Corrin smirked, he was so proud of them. "But what about yourself Commander?"
"Walk through the front door of course" he answered. "Well to be precise, I'm going to be the diversion" normally one would be frantic to have their commander play such a dangerous role, but having spent much time under Corrin's tutelage they all just accept his insane ideas. "With myself as the bait, it will draw the soldier's attention, this will be your opportunity to subdue them; make sure they don't even know what hit them"
"Understood!" they responded in unison. At the same time Lilith returned with Flora.
"It is as Lord Leo says, the King has sent Hans and his men to the city; they will most likely arrive within six hours" she says. Corrin stroked his chin.
"That certainly puts us on the clock; we'll need to accomplish our task before they arrive"
"What about us?" Selena asked, she, Odin and Laslow were standing on the side. Corrin clasped his hands.
"You three have a very important task" he told them. "Iago has his eyes on this battle, you three will be the darkness that blind's his eyes!"
"So… eliminate his spys" Selena said.
"Yes! You will be the darkness that blind's his eyes!" Corrin repeated. Selena stared at him not amused. "Oh come on! Look, Odin is excited" Selena glanced back to see her friend jumping around all giddy.
"Yeah he gets excited with this kind of thing" Selena muttered.
"Lord Corrin!" Felicia's cry was heard from afar. Looking in her direction they watched Corrin's retainer approach frantically. "I bring news!" she said.
"Calm yourself Felicia, take deep breaths" Corrin told her; the girl did as she was told.
"Hoshidan forces have gathered inside the city" she told him, Corrin was now on full alert. "It looks like the rebels have joined forces with them"
"How many?" he asked her.
"I spotted a small force, twenty soldiers" That wasn't as bad as he thought it would be; they could manage an extra twenty.
"That won't change anything, we'll take the Hoshidans as well" Silas spoke with great confidence, the rest of his troops agreed with their captain. Corrin gave them the thumbs up.
"That's the sort of confidence I like!" he told them. "Let's do this!" his men responded with a short cheer.
Dressed in full Cavalier armor, Corrin had his face concealed with a helmet, he would prefer not to wear it, but he needed to make sure the Hoshidans didn't know who he was. As he walked deeper into the city, he noticed that some of the houses were still occupied, he assumed the soldiers have taken refuge in them, though he thought it would have been smarter to make it seem like they were abandoned.
'What do you think Garon' he whispered.
'Nothing unusual, how are you holding up?' Garon asked. Corrin touched his helmet, the metal was uncomfortable to his skin and was very restricting to his vision, which unnerved him; he preferred it when he was in full control of his senses and there was nothing restricting him.
'I'll be fine'
'Is that right' Garon responded not believing him.
"So, you finally show your face" a woman's voice called to him, he stopped. The woman dunned striking red armor, which really made her stand out; her hair was cut short, along with her facial structure gave her a very wild looking appearance.
"Can I assume you are the leader of the rebels" Corrin responded.
"Indeed, I am, and you must be the dog that has been sent to eliminate us"
"Guilty as charged. Though eliminate is a strong word; I prefer persuade peacefully" Corrin crossed his arms. "Perhaps you could lay down your weapons and we can discuss this over some tea?" this response caused the woman to laugh mockingly.
"And simply bow down to King Garon? I think not" she said. "And besides, do you honestly think you can defeat us? We were prepared for your arrival"
'I know' is what he wanted to say but kept quiet.
"That's right" another voice came in, Corrin glanced to the side and saw Takumi appear.
"Judging by your attire you must be a Commander of the Hoshidan army" Takumi smug as ever looked at him unpleasantly.
"You fell right into our trap; but do not fret, unlike you barbarians, we are merciful, we will grant you a swift and painless death" without warning he readied his bow, Fujin Yumi, and fired an arrow right at Corrin, who easily caught it.
"Hey now, kids shouldn't be playing around with weapons, it's dangerous" Takumi gritted his teeth and shocked to see his arrow easily stopped. Corrin turned to the woman. "I propose a better deal for you, lay down your weapons and cease your resistance against us and I promise you, you and your people will be unharmed"
"Save your lies; we know full well what happens to those that defy King Garon" the woman sneered. "Unlike you, we are not slaves to his rule, we will fight for our people's freedom"
"That's right, these people know the correct side to fight for" Takumi added. Corrin sighed; he glanced up at the roofs and saw his men signal him, everything was going according to plan.
"That's a shame, because…." he stopped himself; from the corner of his eye he saw a child peer through the window before his mother pulled him back inside. Then it dawned on him. "The civilian's, why are they still here?" the woman and Takumi looked confused by the sudden change in subject. "I asked you a question! Why are the civilians still here!"
"What are you talking about!" Takumi yelled back, the woman at least realized their mistake and held her tongue. Corrin groaned into his gloved hand.
"Unbelievable, how stupid can you all be…" he muttered. "That's it! This charade is over!" He turned his back on them. "Subdue them!" He ordered. An arrow struck the woman in the ankle, while a hooded figure appeared behind Takumi tackling him to the ground and holding a dagger to his throat.
"What on earth!" the woman screamed while writhing in pain.
"Do not speak! You have lost that privilege!" Corrin yelled. Silas jogged over to him.
"We have all enemy forces subdued; what do you want us to do with them?" Corrin sighed, this would have been the perfect chance to eliminate any Hoshidan commanders, but with civilians still around, slaying the enemy so brutally will not paint a good image for himself.
'Spare the enemy Corrin' Garon told him.
'We are in agreement then' Corrin answered.
'Indeed. And if you would like a recommendation, make sure the civilians know you were the ones to rescue them, it will turn things around in your favor' originally, Corrin had intended to win the favor of the rebels by eliminating Hans; but this might actually turn out better.
"Let them live but make sure they don't try any funny business; and send ten of our men to help me evacuate the civilians, we need them out before Hans and his men arrive" Silas nodded and returned to the rest of the company.
"Felicia bring the Hoshidan Commander to the rest of the prisoners" Felicia nodded before pulling Takumi up.
"Remember me murderer?" she whispered, her terrifying voice actually sent shivers down Takumi's spine.
"Refrain from scaring him Felicia" Corrin told her, his retainer nodded.
"Impossible! How did you sneak up on us!" the woman demanded. Corrin glared at her.
"I will put it for you simply. I let you know I was coming. Flora!" another hooded person appeared, she hopped down from the roof making her way to them.
"Bind her, she stays with us" he commanded before moving to evacuate the people.
Corrin and company were able to get everyone outside the city, and the civilians were all furious with both the resistance members and the Hoshidan soldiers. Apparently, they all came to the conclusion that the resistance members were going to use them as shields in the battle. Before things could escalate, Corrin stepped in acting as the middleman resolving the misunderstanding, this actually gained him the respect of the resistance members as well as strengthen his trust from the civilians.
"So what now?" Baxter asked, he along with Fay approached their Commander.
"You will lead the people deeper into the woods, meanwhile I along with our prisoner here" Corrin pointed to the woman who was still tied up. "Will be inside the city and when I give the signal you will all charge inside to eliminate Hans and his men" Corrin explained, he then looked sternly down at the woman. "For the sake of your reputation I hope your men will join us in the charge" The woman looked down, clearly knowing when she has been defeated.
"Yes…" she muttered, Corrin looked over to the rest of the defeated resistance members, they nodded along with their leader.
"Good" he announced. "Felicia and Flora, you two are with me"
"And pray tell me Nohrian, what are you planning?" A Hoshidan woman asked, based by her appearance she looked like a Kishin warrior. Fay was quick to raise her blade at the woman; Corrin raised his hand signaling her to stand down.
"Curious are we?" he said. "I wonder… what if I told you that I'm setting up a trap for some very troublesome people, would you understand how I'm going to accomplish that?" The Hoshidan woman grunted.
"You clearly don't know how traps work Nohrian" but Corrin chuckled darkly.
"No, you clearly don't understand how I work"
"Reina what are you doing?" Takumi asked, the others were unnerved by the sudden change in language.
"We are currently prisoners Lord Takumi, the best we can do is understand what our captors have planned" she answered.
'So her name's Reina' Corrin thought,
'She has clearly seen many battles, this is one to watch out for Corrin' Garon spoke.
'Understood' He looked over at Silas signaling him to make sure to keep an eye on the woman, he nodded, acknowledging his order.
"Lilith how much time do we have left before Hans arrives?"
"They will be here within the hour"
"Perfect" he holstered his sword. "Let's move out".
Hans arrived with his band of soldiers, all of them looking blood thirsty and ready for battle. They arrived by horse and immediately knew something was wrong.
"Hans!" Corrin greeted.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"You've already forgotten who I am? I'm hurt" he removed his helmet. Grunting Hans looked at him suspiciously.
"Prince Corrin" the woman's eyes widened, she was prepared to yell but Felicia jabbed her in the stomach silencing her.
"Your arrival was impeccable. I could use your assistance" Corrin said. "As you might have noticed this city is deserted. I have tracked them into the woods but have yet to find them"
"What do you want me to do about it?" Hans asked. Corrin let out a dark laugh.
"I propose we set up a trap" he pointed at their captive. "We have their leader prisoner, they will no doubt come to her aid. When they do, you will ambush them. It will be a slaughter don't you think" upon hearing this the woman threw herself into a fit of rage.
"You rotten snake!" she screamed. "We trusted you!" Felicia struck the woman's side once again but she continued to rage, her outburst was enough to make Hans laugh out loud, Corrin smirked inwardly, Hans took the bait.
"My opinion of you has been wrong Prince" he unmounted, standing on the same level as Corrin now. "I'll go along with your plan and I'll be sure to leave some for you" Corrin chuckled.
"I appreciate that" he pointed to the houses. "The houses are empty, I recommend hiding in there, you could probably salvage some supplies as well" Hans laughed even louder looking back at his men.
"You hear that boys! Let's start raiding the city!" a howl of laughter followed while his men dispersed. Meanwhile Corrin led his group into the city hall, which was the largest building in the area. "And where are you going?" Hans demanded to know, Corrin waved him off.
"I've been standing outside all day, I think I deserve a break" he told him while continuing inside the abandoned building.
Once inside Corrin did a complete sweep of the building; he made sure there was no way there could be any eavesdroppers. Sitting down he let out a huge breath of relief, he was exhausted.
"You know I never ever got your name" he asked the woman.
"You are a despicable human being" the woman sneered. "May the gods curse you to damnation!" Corrin smirked.
"I'm pretty sure they've done so already" he responded, the woman looked at him confused. "But to think even you fell for it, I didn't expect this" he told her almost mocking her. "Flora can you take the second floor and keep an eye on the activity outside" she nodded, taking her weapon and making her way upstairs.
"What are you saying?" the woman asked.
"In order to set a trap, you must act the part don't you think" he answered, the woman was lost for words. "So, now that's out of the way, care to tell me your name?" he tried again. The woman pondered Corrin's claim and found it very difficult to understand what was going on anymore; however, based on her own predicament she would have to make a gamble.
"Scarlet" she answered.
"Pleasure to meet you Scarlet" turning to face Felicia. "Can you boil some tea for us?"
"Of course!" her entire demeanor changed while she made her way into the kitchen; Scarlet was thrown off guard, Felicia now felt like any normal girl to her.
"Tell me Scarlet, what exactly did you have planned if you defeated us?" Corrin put up an amused smile, which made Scarlet answer bitterly.
"With Hoshidos help we will overthrow King Garon" leaning back Corrin crossed his arms, he supposed that could work, if killing the King was the only objective; what comes after is the hard part, just by removing the King will create a power vacuum in Nohr, which is precisely why they needed to have Xander take the throne, without this factor, Nohr will be plunged into deeper chaos.
"Fair enough. But I have a better proposition, you join my cause" Corrin said.
"What?" she mustered out; join him? That was ridiculous, they were enemies and yet the man would ask for an alliance? Corrin of course laughed, he understood exactly what was going through her head.
"Quite frankly the King needs to be removed" again Scarlet was speechless. "But your plan is only one step of many"
"What are you implying?"
"What happens after?" he asked. "What happens to Nohr after you remove the King?"
"With Hoshidos help we will rebuild" was her answer, Corrin laughed. "What's so funny?"
"I'm laughing at the fact you would sell yourself to another kingdom, for people known for their honor and chivalry you certainly have little pride"
"My people have far more pride than you do, you vile Prince!" she yelled, with a thunk a dagger landed right in front of Scarlet. Felicia walked over placing two cups in front of them; Corrin took a sip and immediately found something wrong, it was much too watered down.
"I'm so sorry Lord Corrin!" Felicia spoke noticing her Lord's expression, Corrin noticed she was once again on the verge of tears. "I always mess up these simple jobs"
"Don't worry Felicia, I consider this a new experience" he told her.
"No need to sugar coat it Milord…" she said between sniffs. "I know I'm useless when it comes to this sort of thing"
"Hey now, at least you didn't put salt this time" turns out this only made it worse, Felicia turned to sulk in a corner.
'You probably could have handled that better' Garon told him, Corrin scratched his head.
"I don't suppose you have any tips on how to handle this sort of thing" he asked Scarlet, the woman huffed and looked away. "Either way let's get back to business; let me set up the scenario for you. Say you do end up killing the King and you have the Hoshidans help you rebuild Nohr, there will be people who still support the King, what do you suppose will happen?"
Scarlet muttered something, although inaudible Corrin knew what she wanted to say. "That's right rebellions and maybe even civil war" Scarlet let this information settle in.
"So what do you suppose we should do?" she asked
"Join us" Corrin answered simply. "My siblings and I have a plan to unite Nohr under a single banner to rise up against the King"
"Prince Xander is in on your plan?"
"Of course, otherwise I wouldn't be this confident conversing with you"
"I still find you suspicious" Corrin laughed leaning back on his chair.
"Fair enough, then I'll prove it to you"
"Prove it? Explain" Corrin smiled standing up.
"You'll see" he finished his tea and spoke to Felicia. "Watch over her and make sure she doesn't do anything foolish" Felicia nodded and noticed that he had finished the tea she made, it made her happy.
Taking a seat next to Flora, Corrin peered out the window.
"How goes the watch?" He asked.
"Good; it is as you say, the soldiers have started to ransack the empty homes" she spoke very softly, eyes never breaking from the outside.
"Looks like a party down there" Corrin commented, Hans men were wreaking havoc, breaking down doors, eating and drinking what was left behind, which was actually quite a bit. Corrin had instructed the civilians to only take what was necessary for a few days; at first Corrin was reluctant to leave behind such valuable supplies but for the sake of the operation, it was a sacrifice he needed to make.
"Lord Corrin" Flora asked.
"What is it?"
"Is what we are doing wise?"
"Wise? Probably not. Is it necessary? Yes". Stopping to ponder his next thoughts he looked at Flora. "Why? Do you think we should handle this differently?" Shaking her head, she dipped her head a bit as if ashamed to be questioning her Lord.
"Of all the options we had, this is certainly the most appropriate, but I just think it is risky, what if the King finds out?" Unfortunately, the King already knew they were up to no good, but that was between him and Garon to worry about.
"And you are correct to be worried. What happens after tonight could mean life or death for us. As much as I wish I could control the outcome, we must be careful, but do not worry if the plan goes ill, I have a backup plan" Flora didn't answer only nodding. "Speaking of which I assume you are getting accustomed with the bow?" Flora jumped at the question looking down at her new weapon.
"Yes!" She shouted before composing herself. "Yes" she repeated this time quieter; Corrin chuckled.
"No need to be so nervous around me Flora" he told her, Flora shook her head.
"It's not nervousness… I was just startled by the question Milord" Corrin raised a brow, he didn't think the question was that unusual.
"Why? Is something the matter?" Flora shook her head.
"No Milord, just the way you worded the question I thought you had doubt in my ability" she muttered.
"Ah, then your assumption was incorrect. I had intended to praise your ability" he told her. "You were able to hit your target flawlessly" his praise caused her to look down embarrassed.
"Well… I think the way you handled the rebels and Hoshidans was flawless" Flora praised back, Corrin sheepishly laughed.
"But on a serious note, how is the bow fairing?" he asked again.
"I don't know how to explain it, but for some reason every movement I make with it just seems natural to me" she says and Corrin didn't doubt her one bit; from the moment they started training she was able to perform each exercise flawlessly; even Garon praised her, according to him he's never seen someone so natural with a bow before.
"That just means you are a natural, which is why I'm glad you decided to go along with my selfishness" to some extent it was true, Corrin had insisted, almost ordered Flora to take up the bow that he sort of felt bad. Flora smiled.
"Certainly not Milord, I am glad that you were so insistent, if not, I would never have been able to find my own identity" this piqued Corrin's interest.
"Identity? What do you mean?" he asked, Flora realized she said something she hadn't intended to.
"It's nothing!" she quickly said, her eyes drifting back outside. Corrin respected her wish and dropped the subject. There was a long awkward silence before Flora finally decided to speak up again. "Milord…" she said.
"What is it?"
"The two of us are siblings to twins" Corrin nodded, he wasn't sure where this was going. "Did… Did you ever feel inferior to your sister?" now Corrin understood what she wanted to say, he chuckled nodding.
"Yes, in more ways that I could imagine" everything Corrin did, Kamui did better, swordsmanship, tactics, public speaking, you name it; not to mention the Legendary Blade Yato had chosen her to decide the fate of the world; his sister certainly was somebody special; the only thing he thought he had over his sister was probably the fact he read more than she did, allowing him to have a much broader understanding of the outside world.
"Did you ever get over it?" she asked, probably; was his first thought; having spent two years fighting the Fallen, he was certain he could best his sister in swordplay now; added by the fact he was the wielder of the Fire Emblem, it definitely boosted his confidence; although most of this was due to his circumstance of being killed, falling into the Bottomless Canyon, cursed with immortality, thrown into a dungeon beneath an unknown castle and dying time and time again trying to break free…. Yeah, he had some rethinking to do.
"I did once, though how I overcame it isn't a method I recommend" he half joked; to some extent Flora understood what he was saying and joined in on the joke. "Although why do you feel inferior to your sister?" Flora clenched her bow looking a little sad.
"Ever since we were young Felicia has excelled in many of the exercises our father has put forth when we were training, and well… I've admired her for that, I've always hoped that one day I could live up to my father's expectations as well, but… but that day has never come"
"I see, so all your life you believe you've been living in your sister's shadow" Flora felt embarrassed to answer and instead just nodded her head. Felicia was known as a master with the blade, by taking up a bow, Flora considered this a step out of Felicia's shadow. "Flora I want you to know something, I do not consider you in any way inferior to Felicia, you each have your own specialties; as both my retainers there are things I trust you more than I would trust Felicia, just as there are things I would trust Felicia more than I would trust you. Remember this Flora, you are special in your own right and don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise" she let his words sink in and she smiled. "And I believe Felicia and your father would agree with me" Flora found tears in her eyes, clutching her bow even tighter.
"Thank you" she said quietly. "I will keep your words in mind, however I do not think such thoughts will just go away" clasping her shoulder Corrin gave her a reassuring smile.
"And I don't expect it will be, but I'm here if you ever need me" Flora returned the smile. Once again they sat in silence, but this time the tension between them was gone.
"By the way Milord" Flora spoke again. "What will happen to Cheve after this is over?"
"Hard to say, but considering the circumstances that has been graced upon us, I believe convincing Cheve to join us will be easier than anticipated"
"Is it because of the civilians we evacuated?" Corrin nodded.
"Yes, and their code of honor. They won't let such a debt go unpaid, I plan to have them help me convince the other knight's division"
"That's right, they have four knight divisions; which one are they from?"
"According to Leo they are trying to establish a new one so they aren't related to any other division"
"Then wouldn't that mean they don't have much influence in Cheve?" Flora pointed out.
"True, but it will help, besides, Leo has agreed to take over the negotiations once we are done here; our purpose here involves three things, the first is to accomplish the Kings assignment, second is to show Cheve that we of the Nohrian royalty mean no harm to them and finally…. Well that's currently in progress"
"I see, but with the Hoshidans presence will that change our circumstance?" Corrin shook his head.
"No, rather it may help our cause; the people we evacuated believe that the Hoshidan forces coming here is the reason they were pushed out of their homes, this has actually allowed the civilian's to side with us"
"That's quite convenient isn't it" Flora had to point out; Corrin stroked his chin agreeing with her.
"It certainly is, so we must tread carefully, any mistake could result in disaster" Flora nodded.
Two hours have passed and the city finally quieted down allowing Corrin to finally step foot outside without attracting attention. Putting on his helmet he started strolling, looking around he was pleasantly surprised how well his plan had worked; all of the soldiers were paralyzed.
"Got to give credit to Henri, he was spot on with the timing" The young inventor had given him a new form of poison, designed to be unscented and tasteless, however the downside is that it would take two hours for it to actually take any effect.
"Now to call in the Calvary" removing his gloved hand he revealed a small wrist bow, one of Henri's experimental inventions; pointing it up into the sky he launched a Flare Arrow, with a pop, a bright red glow illuminated the dark sky. Minutes later, the ground trembled as the troops came riding into the city, both Cheve and Corrin's troops rode side by side while cutting down the paralyzed soldiers; to put it simply, it was as Corrin said, it was a massacre. Scarlet could only watch from the side; it was brutal, and disgraceful, such tactics were cowardly; but yet deep inside she couldn't help be amazed. Prince Corrin had all the food and drink spiked with poison, not exactly impressive on the surface, but if one looked deeper, one would realize that Prince Corrin understood exactly how his opponent would behave and set up his trap accordingly, and she had to admit, it was brilliant; he crippled the enemy without them even knowing it.
"Milord, we have him" Felicia came dragging a struggling Hans. All the soldiers gathered around them, curious as to what was going to transpire.
"Hello again" Corrin greeted. Hans still paralyzed, was silent. "Ah well, I guess that was something I didn't consider" he cleared his throat. "Allow me to explain what is going on" he addressed everyone. "I was ordered by the King to come to Cheve to quell a rebellion, we were all supposed to fight a battle and when everyone became exhausted, this man here" he pointed to Hans. "Would ride in and kill everyone" there was murmurs from the Cheve soldiers, they were all shocked by this revelation; Corrin's soldiers of course already knew what was going on, so they just nodded knowingly.
"It…. it was… King…. King …. Garon's orders" Hans struggled to say. Bending down Corrin looked the man straight in the eyes before speaking.
"I know, which is why I'm going to be sending a message to the King" Hans looked a little relieved, Corrin noticed this and chuckled. "You seem to misunderstand…" Corrin brandished a knife. "You are the message" and just like that, he cut open Hans throat, killing him instantly.
Corrin ushered his men to take Hans body away while he turned to face the Cheve soldiers, from the corner of his eye he spotted Silas, Baxter and Fay lead the captured Hoshidan soldiers towards them.
"Now then, onto business" he pointed to Scarlet. "Now that I've shown you my proof, what is your decision?"
"Decision?" Takumi spoke, very quickly he faced Scarlet distress overcoming his features. "What is he talking about?" Scarlet looked down, she knew her decision would ultimately change the course of Cheve's future. If she decided to ally herself with Hoshido there was no doubt they would be able to overthrow the King; but that would mean making an enemy out of the people who have sided with Prince Corrin; it was this factor alone that made this a checkmate against her. Prince Corrin had essentially won over her people before they even realized it.
"Say we decide to side with you…" she started.
"Are you planning on betraying us!" Takumi yelled.
"Shush!" Corrin scolded. "The adults are talking" Takumi violently resisted against Baxter's restraints.
"If I weren't in these restraint's I could kill you before you could even blink!" he roared, of course his anger only made things worse for him, both Flora and Felicia stepped in, Flora brandishing an arrow to his eye and Felicia a dagger digging into his throat; Corrin raised his hand and his two retainers stepped back, he sighed.
"Honestly speak I've said this before, speak in a language I understand, or do you want to risk another precious life" his words struck Takumi with realization, this Nohrian General was the same man who stole all their supplies and used Sakura as a hostage. Corrin could see the unrelenting rage and decided to turn back to Scarlet.
"Your answer?"
"If I decide to side with you, what will happen to the Hoshidans? And what will happen to us?"
"A fair question"
"The Hoshidans will be allowed to retreat"
"You would allow us to go freely?" Reina questioned. There were two possibilities going through Reina's mind, the first possibility is to lead them away from Cheve before killing them; and the second was to allow them to retreat in order to tail them and understand where they have set up a foreword base.
"The reason I am letting you go is simple; I don't consider you people a threat, letting you go will not make any difference in the tides of our war; besides I already know where your forward base is located so I won't be tailing you people either"
"What did you say!" Takumi yelled.
"Prince Takumi!" Corrin spoke as if he were speaking to a child. "What did I say; the adults are talking" rage building up Takumi was finally subdued with Baxter pushing him to the ground.
"You have my word Scarlet I will let the Hoshidans go. As for your people, they will be safe, as long as I live, the King will not touch Cheve" Even without looking around she could tell what her men wanted her to choose. She steeled herself, nodding very slowly.
"I accept your offer"
Takumi and his soldiers had originally traveled to Cheve in secret; Ryoma had managed to negotiate an alliance with the resistance and Takumi was supposed to strengthen that relationship by offering their resources. However, with the appearance of that Nohrian General everything has fallen apart, not only were they easily beaten, but they also lost their alliance; now they were left humiliated, returning empty handed.
"That Nohrian General…" Reina was heard saying. "I fear he might be our downfall".
"What are you saying?" Takumi questioned. "Do you not have faith in your own people?"
"With all due respect Prince Takumi but I am facing the facts; his tactics were executed perfectly and he was able to turn the tides against us so easily. There is no doubt, that Nohrian General is a greater threat than even King Garon himself" her statement rang through everyone's minds, and the very thought terrified them all.
