Budellus International College: Year 1
CHAPTER 14
"WHAT?!" Sam yelled, almost knocking over Joan's drink, which was quickly swiped out of the way. "THAT POM DID WHAT?!"
Kyle nodded vigorously, while Arthur scoffed when Sam looked at him with murderous eyes. "It's not like I approve - don't look at me like that. He's a little twit, I didn't do anything," he said, raising his hands.
Kyle and Sam both glared at Arthur. "You don't 'approve'? What don't you 'approve' about my little sis, hey?" Kyle said, rising slowly.
Francis sighed and Joan rolled her eyes, and they pulled their friends back into their seats, aware of how the whole cafeteria had gone silent at the outburst. "Calm down Samantha, Kyle," Joan said gruffly, despite obviously wanting to just let them have their way with Arthur.
"Our dear friend here did not mean what he said, his eyebrows simply prevent his brain from working properly," Francis said, patting Kyle on the back, trying to calm him down, and smirking at Arthur's squawk of annoyance.
"What I meant," Arthur huffed, "was that there is no reason to get mad at me. Bloody hell, are all Australian's this protective?"
"I'M NOT AUSTRALIAN YOU PIECE OF S-"
Over the coming days, the school was in a rush. The students were distracted by the coming dance, and the teachers were finding it very difficult to reign them in.
"Seriously, what grade are you in?!" Ms Griffin exclaimed, "Passing notes in class! That's something 8 year olds do!"
Lovino glared at his feet whereas Antonio pouted at the teacher.
"It was his fault! That stupid tomato head wouldn't stop annoying me," Lovino grumbled aiming a kick towards Antonio's shins.
Ms Griffin scoffed, "You need to grow up, Lovino. Antonio, what do you have to say?"
"I just wanted to ask Lovi if he wants to go to the Valentines' dance with me, but he is constantly ignoring me and avoiding me! Feliciano and Ludwig are going together, and I thought we could go as a big group of friends," Antonio explained, looking towards Lovino with a sad expression.
Lovino was surprised, looking at Antonio with wide eyes, "You wanted to ask me to-" he cut himself off, his face turning very red, and spluttered, "I don't even like that German bastard, why do we want to go with him! And as if I want to be with Feliciano on the night! I see him too much these days!" he rambled, looking down at his feet again.
Antonio's face suddenly burst into a grin, "Wait! 'We'? You'll go with me!" he cheered, and pulled Lovino into a hug.
Ms Griffin shook her head, mumbling to herself, "Europeans are crazy, I swear…" Clearing her throat, she got their attention again, cutting off Lovino's rapid stream of curses, "Now, boys, I will let it slide this time, but if I here of either of you passing notes or disrupting a class again, there will be consequences. Got it?" she asked, and received nods from both of the boys.
"Good. Now go get some dinner, I hear they are serving lasagne today."
Matthew sighed, picking at his food. He hadn't had the guts to ask Sam to the dance yet, and it was three days away. It seemed like everyone else had already settled their plans. Francis and Joan were going together (obviously), Kyle, Arthur and Alfred were going solo, Feliciano and Ludwig were going together, even Peter had the guts to ask Sienna, for god's sake!
Matthew glanced at Sam, who was talking to Joan quietly.
"Mate, you just need to ask her, she'll say yes," Kyle chuckled, patting Matthew on the back.
He sighed, "But she's always with other people, and I just-"
Kyle shook his head, "Stop making excuses, Mattie. Just ask her."
Sam noticed they were watching her and sent them a grin, "You all good?"
Matthew smiled at her, nodding, and Kyle laughed, "Good as gold, Sammy."
Elizabeta sighed, falling back on her bed and staring up at the ceiling in thought.
Bella glanced over at her, looking away from her laptop, "Should I bother asking what's wrong?" she questioned, causing Elizabeta to crack a smile.
"It's just Gilbert again I guess…" she mumbled, rolling over to lie on her stomach, now facing Bella.
Bella rolled her eyes, "Of course, when is it not Gilbert. What'd he do now?"
Elizabeta frowned slightly, "Well, he didn't really do anything…I…just have a feeling he won't be too happy when he sees me with Roderich. You know what they think of each other, it's obvious, and you've only known them for a few weeks," she admitted, lying back again.
Bella watched her roommate, thinking. "Well…Gilbert is like a brother to you, right?" When Elizabeta nodded she smiled and continued, "See, this is what it'd be like if I decided to go out with Antonio. Lars and Tonio have been fighting for years, and he'd probably kill Antonio if he made a move," she said.
Elizabeta scoffed, "Yeah, thanks Bell, that makes me feel so much better!"
"I haven't finished, silly. I believe if Lars saw that I really cared for Antonio, he'd eventually accept it. Plus, Gilbert and Roderich don't hate each other – they just argue and disagree. It's no where near hate," she said insightfully.
Elizabeta looked at Bella with nervous eyes, and Bella could see that this had been eating her up inside. Giving her a reassuring smile, Bella continued, "Liza, I think you need to talk to them both. Gilbert loves you, and Roderich obviously feels something, and if they actually care about you, they'll listen. You just need to give them time."
Kyle let out a frustrated groan, "I don't get it! Why the hell do we even have to learn this! I'm never ever going to use this! Ever!"
Toris looked around the library nervously, "Lower your voice, we'll be kicked out if you aren't careful!" he scolded, causing Kyle to cuss under his breath.
"Look Toris, I'm really grateful for your help, but I really just don't get it," he said, exasperated, flopping onto the table and hitting his head against it.
Toris frowned, "Kyle, why don't you just change to Maths 1? There is no point failing this class, when you could be getting perfectly good marks in the easier group," he suggested, leaning back in his seat.
Kyle stopped hitting his head against the desk and crossed his arms, resting chin on them. "That's what I want to do, but my dad won't let me. He says that 'I would just be letting myself down' if I dropped, and stuff about how I wouldn't be able to do what I want in university. He believes that Maths 1 is for stupid kids, but really, it's not," he rambled, frowning. "That's the type of maths that I'll actually use in the future…you get what I mean?" he asked, glancing at Toris, who nodded slowly.
"I can understand that…but why do you let your father control you like that? I mean, it's your life, not his, right?" he said thoughtfully. "I know what it's like to be controlled by someone, and you just have to have the courage to stop letting them control you, Kyle."
"Sadly, in my family, it's not that easy, Toris. I'd just be ungrateful then."
"Hey! Sam!" Matthew called, running down the corridor after Samantha.
She turned, surprised, "Matt? What's up?"
Matthew stopped just in front of her, getting his breath back. Samantha watched him, concerned.
"Matt, are you okay?"
He nodded and he nervously smiled.
"Will you go to the Valentines' Dance with me?"
I need to stop with the cliffhangers, I swear.
Okay that's all the posting for today, but hopefully I'll post several chapters sometime soon!
See you in the next one!
