Tonight was the night, her big official date with Rick. They had coffee together and thought they called it a date; it was nothing like it would be tonight.

To say Kate was nervous would be an understatement. She didn't know what to expect. He had told her less than nothing about where they were going. He wanted it to be a surprise. When she had asked during their phone conversation this morning, he had said 'you have to wait and see' and then went on to tell her to dress nice but not too fancy.

So that ruled out a fancy over the top restaurant. She was kind of glad about that. She was never really the fancy, over priced and not enough food per serving, type of girl.

She was happy that she was finally getting to go out with him. She hadn't told anyone yet that they were going out. Especially not the boys, they would make a huge deal and she didn't want that. Lanie knew she was going tonight but had asked her not to tell anyone.

They had went out shopping for a new dress because apparently the ones she had weren't good enough, or at least that's what Lanie thought. Kate loved the dresses she had but she had to admit the dress Lanie had picked out was really amazing.

She just needed to get over these nerves. She was standing in front of her mirror drying her hair. Lanie had left earlier after wishing her luck. Now she was drying her hair and getting ready. She had less than an hour to get ready. Her dress was laid out.

She finished her hair, deciding to leave it down. Light waves that framed her face. She began to get dressed and hoped eventually the nerves would dissipate.

Thirty minutes later she was dressed and ready. She was checking her make up when she heard a knock at the door. She took a deep breath and went to the door.

She opened the door and the sight she saw made her breath quicken. He really did look amazing when he dressed up. There he stood with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. She let her eyes roam his form, just as his were doing to her.

He was wearing black dress slacks that fit him perfectly, she could only imagine how amazing his ass looked in them but she would have to wait till they were walking so she could casually catch a glance. He had on a black blazer over a light blue shirt that brought out his blue eyes, and he didn't have a tie on. His hair was perfectly styled.

He broke her trance when he spoke.

"You look….breathtaking." He said with a smile as his eyes continued to roam her body, at the mid thigh length black dress she was wearing, with black stilettos.

"Thank you; you don't look too bad yourself, Castle." She said with a smile.

"Thank you. "Oh these are for you." He said as he handed her the flowers that were in his hands.

"They are beautiful. Thank you so much." She said as she stepped back and motioned him to enter.

"You are very welcome. Are you all set?"

"Yes, let me just get my purse and put these in some water."

"Okay."

She did so and within minutes they were out the door and in his car.

"So are you going to tell me where we are going?" She asked as he pulled out onto the street.

"Nope, you just have to wait and see." He said with a smirk.

"Fine, I can wait." She said with a huff as she looked out the windshield.

The rest of the ride was sat in silence. They turned off the road onto a small clearing with and a large wall. But other than the wall there was nothing else. Kate looked around confused. He pulled the car to a stop and turned it off.

"Where are we?" She asked still confused.

"Patience detective." He said as he excited the car. "Stay here for a minute." He said and then he disappeared to wear a small shack sat.

The next thing she knew, he was coming up to her side of the car to help her out and the wall was being lit up with a picture. It was then she realized what was going on.

"Is this a drive in movie castle?" She asked with a smile.

"Sort of." He said as he led her to a small table with a bottle of wine and two menus. The seats were next to each their facing the wall that apparently was a movie screen. He pulled out her seat and sat down beside her.

"So what movie is it Castle?" She asked as she turned to him.

"You will see."

"You really like surprises don't you?" She laughed.

"Yeah you can say that. I just hope you like it and…" He was cut off by a man in a white shirt that looked like a waiter.

"Hello Mr. Castle, can I get you anything to drink besides the wine?" The young man asked.

"I'm good. How about you Kate?" he turned to Kate.

"No, just the wine is fine."

"Okay well I will be back to take you order in a minute." The young man said as he walked away.

"So look at your menu and decide I wasn't sure what you liked so I had the chef make up a menu with a bunch of different entrees." He said as he looked at his own menu.

They both looked at their menus and decided what they were going to order. Kate decided on the Chicken Franchese with steamed vegetables and Castle decided the on the filet mignon steak with mashed potatoes. The waiter came back and took their orders.

They decided to eat first and then watch the movie. He still wouldn't tell her the movie but she was okay with that, she was just enjoying his company.

"Are you enjoying yourself so far?" He asked as he finished off his steak.

"I am. This is amazing Castle." Kate said with a smile.

"I wanted to do something special and I figured a stuffy restaurant wasn't right for tonight. Plus this is a beautiful night."

"Castle, this is perfect. I'm glad you chose not to go to a stuffy restaurant." She laughed.

"Okay good."

The waiter came back and took their plates and returned minutes later with a cheese cake and some more wine.

"Thank you." Castle said as the waiter settled the cake down and walked away.

Castle cut the cake and put it on both their plates.

"Okay movie time."

"Good." She turned toward the movie screen. And the movie began.

The opening titles popped up and she read "Forbidden Planet" on the large screen. It was one of her favorite movies. She remembered him asking her what movies she likes during one of their first phone conversations weeks ago. She couldn't believe he remembered.

"You remembered." She whispered to him.

"Of course I did. I remember everything you tell me." he smiled.

She smiled and settled back into her seat. They settled into a comfortable silence as they watched the movie. The wind began to pick up a little sending a chill through her. She shivered and hoped he didn't notice. She was having a good time and didn't want a small shiver to end the night.

He didn't seem to notice. Then she felt him move next to her and the next thing she knew he was wrapping his blazer around her arms. She smiled at him in thanks and pulled it around her taking in his sent. The scent of aftershave and a scent that was purely him.

They sat in silence through most of the movie when she heard him yawn. She was about to ask him if he wanted to go cause he was tired when she felt his arm go around her shoulders and pull her close.

She tried to hold her laugh at his cliché move but she could help it, a laugh slipped out.

"What's so funny?" he smirked.

"Nothing, it's just I never thought of you as such a cheesy guy. The yawn trick really?" she laughed.

"Hey it's a very affective trick." He laughed.

"I'm sure it is, or was in the sixties." She laughed.

"Well I don't see you pulling away so obviously it was pretty affective."

"Maybe I'm just doing it out of pity." She smirked.

"Hey as long as you are in my arms I don't care if it's out of pity, even though I know it's not." He smiled.

"I guess we will never know." She smirked and turned back to the movie. A little taken back by his comment. She was really falling for him and it seems he was falling for her too. She snuggled closer to him and he tightened his hold on her.

They finished the movie and headed back to her apartment. He parked and got out of the car and headed to help her out of the car. He walked her to her door. When they got there she turned to him and took off his jacket and gave it back. He put the jacket on and smiled at her.

"Castle I had an amazing time tonight." She smiled.

"Yeah, me to." he smiled back.

"Good, maybe we can do it again sometime" she said with hope in her voice.

"Oh we will definitely be doing it again sometime." He said firmly. "Kate I really like you and I have a feeling you really like me too. I think this could maybe go somewhere." He said with such confidence.

"Yeah I feel the same." She smiled and took a step closer to him.

"Good I'm glad." He smiled and put his hand on her waist and pulled her close to him. He looked down at her. First in her eyes then his eyes flicked to her lips and back up. She nodded and the next thing she knew his lips where on hers. It was slow and sensual. Everything you want in a fist kiss. Not too hasty or fast. His lips gently danced with hers and then it was over. He pulled away but didn't completely let go of her.

She looked him in the eyes and could tell he felt the spark she had. It was an amazing kiss. She leaned up and kissed him quickly again before he pulled away. They both knew it was best to end the night here.

"So I'm going to go." He said still a little breathless from the kiss.

"Okay, thank you again, tonight was amazing."

"Always."

"Bye castle."

"Bye Kate." And with that he was gone. She let herself into her apartment and went through her nightly routine. When she was finally in bed she thought through the amazing night she just had.

She thought about how sweet he was and how great of a kisser he was. And she thought about how amazing his ass did look in those pants.

She laid in bed her fingers subconsciously going to her lips, where just an hour ago his lips were and smiled. She was falling for Richard Castle and she was okay with that.
