I hate this chapter, it feels like an insult to the character of Enobaria. But I promised an update, and here it is.

Chapter 14.

Haymitch scowled at the 4 victors as they entered the small side room where he sat. Cashmere, Gloss, Cato sat down quickly whilst Enobaria remained standing, being careful not to block Haymitch's view of the screen. Not that it mattered much; the mentor was too busy glaring at them to pay attention to the games.

'Hey Haymitch?' Cashmere began uncertainly. The glare from Haymitch silenced her.

'Haymitch, we, as in myself, Cash and Cato and Enobaria, were rooting for Katniss to win…' Gloss started but a derisive laugh from Haymitch interrupted him.

'Ha! You expect me to believe that? Your career brute is still alive in there; you won't stop rooting for him until Katniss's arrow pierces his skull.' He cracked up and Cashmere raised one perfectly shaped eyebrow at them all. Cato slid his knife out of his sleeve and began to turn it in his hand unconsciously. Finally Enobaria leaned forwards, pressing Haymitch back in his seat and forcing him to look up at her.

'Honestly Haymitch, we think Katniss will win against Dominus.' She stated, Haymitch looked into her face for several long minutes before seeming to accept what she was saying.

'So why are you here? What's it matter to you lot if she wins?'

'We want to know if she'll cope with Peeta's death.' Gloss said sincerely.

'What's it matter to you if she does? She'll be with us anyway not you career lot.' Cato, Cash and Gloss exchanged a look, suddenly realizing that Haymitch was right and they would have been unlikely to talk to her much. Gloss shrugged at Cato and he looked to Cashmere helplessly.

'I would!' Enobaria declared loudly. 'I would talk with her.'

'We just wanted to help.' Cashmere finally said into the awkward silence that followed the woman's statement and Haymitch looked at her disbelievingly.

'You never help anyone outside your circle. She isn't a career; she volunteered to save her sister not to kill people.' Haymitch leaned back in his chair as he spoke and lifting the glass of whiskey up as he dealt what he considered to be a killing blow. Cashmere looked between her colleagues uncertainly and they nodded to give her consent to do whatever she wanted to persuade him.

'Haymitch, we just want to help, can we put past rivalry behind us please, for her sake?' She pleaded. Haymitch placed his glass down and looked into the sincere faces of the victors facing him for several long minutes.

'Don't know why but I'm trusting you.' He kicked his feet up onto the table in front of him and leant back, lifting his glass of brown liquid and swirling it around a little. The other victors relaxed in their chairs as well.

'So will she cope?' Cashmere pressed after Haymitch didn't talk for five minutes.

'Maybe, I don't know. First thing you gotta know about kids from the seam is that they're accustomed to death, it's all around them from day 1 so they learn to get over it pretty quick. You've also gotta know that having a debt is a big thing, and Peeta here saved Katniss's family. She needs to repay that debt and pretty much the only way to do that is to save his life so it'll hit her hard if he dies. She'll view it as failure on her part, especially so if Peeta sacrifices himself for her.'

'He'd do that?' Gloss asked quickly

'Peeta loves her and has done for years. Katniss I'm not so sure, she didn't at the beginning of the games. Don't think she even noticed him really back in 12 and she didn't want to let him in when she thought he would die but now she's opened up a bit she might like him. He'll have to commit suicide though because her debt won't let her kill him and 12's not like your districts, if she goes home having killed him they'll all hate her. The best way for it to happen really is if Dominus kills him and she avenges him.'

'But that's unlikely?'

'Yeah, she'll plant an arrow in Dominus before he can get within 20 meters of them.'

'He's got body armor now. Her arrows won't do anything to him.' Enobaria said quickly, remembering Brutus' confidence in his tribute's win.

'She can plant an arrow in the eye of a squirrel at 50m, she'll get his face.' The volunteer's eyebrows all rose simultaneously.

'She's that good?' Gloss exclaimed. Cato had to admit that he was surprised too. 'Where'd she learn that in 12!'

'She didn't.' Haymitch stated shortly with a slight smile at what Cato could only guess was a private joke. He shared a confused glance with Enobaria; did she train in another district for a while? He couldn't remember her from the academy in 2 and the victors from 1 looked just as confused. Maybe she trained in the career academy in 4, but then she would have learned to use more than 1 weapon. He guessed not and he didn't really care at that moment either, hopefully he could ask her when she came out.

'So how can we help once she wins?' Cashmere pressed, Haymitch turned his beady eyes to look her up and down.

Whoa, whoa… always the impatient career bunch,' he said, raising his hands up in surrender, or to shield his face possibly, Cato wasn't sure. 'Cashmere is it?' He frowned at her and she nodded.

'Just call me Cash.' She said with a slight unconscious flick of her hair. A capitol attendant knocked on the door to tell Haymitch that he needed to leave to get aboard the hovercraft to pick up Katniss incase she won. He nodded and told the red clothed man that he would be there in a minute before turning back to face them.

'Well Cash… I've never brought a tribute home remember, how should I know?' Haymitch chucked back the rest of his drink and left. Cash looked at her brother in confusion, Gloss looked at Cato and Cato shrugged. Enobaria just stared out after the departing Haymitch.
