Endings in Japan.

" No idea, but I plan on finding out." When Gambit had said that Rogue could hear something in his voice, determination? Anger? Resentment? Something that just didn't sound good. As they walked to the car her teeth began to chatter and she wrapped her arms around herself tightly, it was too damn cold to be wearing this dress, she was too busy thinking about how cold it was she didn't even notice Gambit had stopped until she ran into him.

" Whatcha stop for?" She asked, slightly irritated he turned around and faced her.

" I can hear your teeth chatter from all the way up here." He smiled softly, he slipped his coat off and slipped it over her shoulders.

" Now you're gonna freeze." She said as they began walking again.

" Actually, because my body is full of potential energy it keeps my body warm all the time." He shrugged, Rogue nodded, she didn't think of that before, once they got to the car Gambit unlocked it, they got in, and drove back to their hotel.

After they walked into their room Rogue walked into the bathroom and changed, Gambit sat down at the coffee table and began searching through the internet, he wouldn't lie, he preferred these laptops over the big bulky computers they used to have back in his time. He heard the bathroom door open and out walked Rogue wearing her pajamas, she walked over to the couch and sat down.

" What're ya looking at?" She asked, he closed his laptop and shrugged.

" Nothing." He said, she looked at him skeptically.

" Uh-huh, anyway Ah'm ordering room service, Ah'm about to starve." She said as she grabbed the menu and began looking it over, deciding what she wanted to eat, she called downstairs and ordered.

A few minutes later there was a knock on the door and Gambit went and answered it, when he saw it was room service he let them in, the waiter handed their food to them, Gambit tipped him, and he closed the door behind him.

" What did you order?" He asked, she sat down at the other side of the coffee table and he set the food down in the middle of the table and he sat down across from her.

" Ah ordered pasta, and Ah got you a hamburger and fries." She said as she grabbed her bowl of pasta and he grabbed his burger.

" They didn't have Gumbo?" He asked, she shook her head. They ate in silence, Rogue took a small sip of her water and continued eating, things were still tense between the two, once she had finished eating she stood up and sat down on the couch and watched some tv. Gambit finished his dinner and he sat down next to her with his laptop.

He continued searching for Emilie all night, Rogue had gone to bed sometime around midnight, he stayed up until six in the morning when he finally found her.

" Found ya." He said as he read an article about a silver haired woman running around Tokyo, destroying stocks, people disappearing everywhere she went. Someone has been very busy during the holidays, he quickly booked a hotel, and he shut his laptop before walking into the bedroom to see Rogue curled up into a ball and her back was to the window. He smiled slightly, she looked cute while she slept, no, he couldn't think of her that way, an occasional flirt was fine but he couldn't fall in love or even like her that way. He cursed that stupid rule, that was probably the dumbest rule in history, he walked over to the bed and turned the bedside lamp on.

" Chére," he whispered as he shook her shoulder gently, she groaned slightly as she stretched her limbs, she opened her eye's slightly as she looked over at him.

" Hmm?" She hummed groggily, he chuckled slightly.

" You need to get up, we've gotta job in Tokyo." He said, it wasn't a complete lie, yes he was going there to get Emilie, but, he also got them a job. They were supposed to steal some blue prints for a client, She groaned and kicked her feet like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum.

" Ah don't wanna get up." She whined, she was all warm wrapped up in the blankets and she didn't want to get up.

" C'mon, I've already ordered room service." He said, she closed her eye's and pulled the blankets over her head.

" No!" Gambit sighed as she rolled over to her other side.

" Rogue," he warned. " If you don't get up, I'll have to force you to get up." When she didn't answer him he smirked.

Gambit stood from his crouching position and he walked to the foot of the bed, after making sure her feet were covered, he grabbed her ankles and yanked her toward the edge. Rogue yelped in surprise as she was pulled closer and closer to the edge until, finally, she was pulled to the floor. Gambit smirked as she pulled the covers off her head and glared at him.

" I told you I'd get you out of bed by force." He said, Rogue growled before standing up, she mumbled something under her breath as she walked to the bathroom and she slammed the door closed behind her.

After they checked out of their hotel, they got into the rental car and drove to the airport. They walked into the airport and boarded their plane after sitting and waiting for an hour.

It took 9 1/2 hours and they landed around 4:30, they left the bustling Tokyo airport and went to the rental car service, and when she saw what Gambit had rented her jaw dropped. It was a Ducati, a red and black Ducati to be more specific, he smiled.

" Like it?" He asked as he walked over to it and strapped his bag to the back, she nodded numbly as she walked over to it, he took her bag from her and strapped it to the back, he than got on and looked at her.

" You just plan on standing there?" He asked, she shook her head and got on the back of it. She wrapped her arms around his waist and he smiled to himself, he revved the engine and took off.

The ride to the hotel was anything but quiet, they were arguing over what direction would be fastest and easiest, when Rogue would say left, Gambit'd say right. They continued the arguing as they went into the hotel.

" Ah said make a RIGHT on third, not left!" Rogue said angrily, Gambit rolled his eye's dramatically.

" Yeah like I said make a left than another left on twelfth but oh no let's listen to Miss We-Won't-Get-Lost and we go right and THAN left!" He said, annoyed. They walked up to front desk, got the key to their room, and walked to the elevator.

They refused to talk to each other for the rest of the evening, Gambit continued looking around the internet for a sign, any sign, that Emilie was still here. He needed to find her so she could give him some answers as to why she sent him here.

Soon night fell and they began to go over their job, Rogue began looking over the blue prints.

" What's the company's name?" She asked, Gambit grabbed a piece of paper and began reading.

" Yashida, here is the factory's location." He said handing her a piece of paper, she read it and nodded.

" When do ya wanna leave?" She asked, Gambit looked at the clock before shrugging.

" As soon as possible." He said, it was about nine thirty, she nodded and she went into the bathroom to change, she walked out a few minutes later wearing that same black catsuit with black knee lengths boots, she wore her black trench coat, which she had buttoned up, and had her hair in a pony tail, she also wore her black gloves. Gambit went in after her and changed into his, what Rogue called, his thieving attire, they left the hotel soon afterwords and drove to the factory.

Once they were at the factory Gambit parked the bike out of site and they ran up to the building, it seemed everyone was preoccupied with something in the village, so Rogue and Gambit took the chance and ran to the building, they climbed the mountain and went into the factory through a back entrance.

The hallway was surprisingly quiet, Rogue figured everyone was dealing with whatever was happening in the village, they continued walking until Gambit stopped at a metal door, that had finger print scanner, he frowned as he looked at her.

" We can't get in." He said, Rogue looked at the scanner and smiled.

" Easy peasy, we can get in." She said as she looked into her trench coat pockets and pulled out a make-up bag and pulled out blush and some double sided tape.

" All we need is, a little blush," she applied it to the scanner. " Some tape, than all done!" She said as she applied the tape and pressed her finger on the scanner, the light above the scanner went from red to green and the door unlocked, he looked at her incredulously.

" You just happen to carry make up around?" He said as she put her make up back into her pocket, she nodded.

" Yeah, never know when you might need it." She said as she opened the door and walked inside, Gambit followed suit.

They searched high and low for the blueprints but they didn't find them, they suddenly heard footsteps approach the office, Gambit and Rogue held their breaths until the footsteps went past them. Rogue looked inside one of the bottom draws in the filling cabinet and that was where she found them.

" Good now let's get out of here." He said, she nodded and they walked out of the office, they were about to leave the way they came but footsteps approached them again.

" Merde, this way." Gambit said, grabbing Rogue's hand and they ran the other way, they suddenly turned left and tried not to run into any of the guards.

" Now which way genius?" Rogue said as they came to a dead end, he glared at her before looking up, he looked at her and smirked, she looked up as well and shook her head.

" No."

" Yes."

" Hell no." She said and his smirk only widened.

" Hell yes." She growled but he twisted the screws and the vent fell open, He helped Rogue up into the vent before he climbed in himself.

" Ah really hate you right now." She growled as they began crawling through the vent, he couldn't help but chuckle, he had an excellent view of her backside, he almost shook that thought out of his head but decided to keep it, in case he needed something to tease her with later.

They continued crawling for probably a few minutes but it felt like hours, until the vent began to shake.

" Please tell me you're moving the vent just to mess with me?" Rogue said, Gambit shook his head.

" I'm not moving it." As soon as the sentence left his mouth the vent shook again before collapsing under their weight, the landed on the cold metal ground with a loud thud. Rogue groaned as she got on her hands and knees while Gambit was down on one knee.

" You okay?" He asked, she nodded.

" Yeah, Ah'm just peachy." She mumbled as she stood up, he stood as well and they looked around, there was a balcony in front of them, and two doors on either side of them, Rogue heard metal clash and people yelling, she looked over the edge of the balcony and saw a suit of Japanese armor made of metal, she saw the person in the suit holding someone of the cliff, that person happened to be Logan!* Her eye's widened, whoever was in the suit was draining the life out of the person she saw as a father figure, someone she trusted. She than watched a woman stab the person in the suit, she watched Logan throw the man out of a hole in the wall than he collapsed.

Rogue went to climb over the balcony when Gambit grabbed her around the waist, put a gloved hand over her mouth, and dragged her away.

" What are you doing?!" He whispered hurriedly. " Are you trying to get us caught?!" He removed his hand from her mouth but she was fighting to get out of his grip.

" No, Ah'm trying to save a friend from getting killed!" She whispered loudly, she continued fighting him until they were out of the exit door on the left, now Rogue would never know if Logan was okay or not.

Gambit continued carrying her until they got to the motorcycle than he let her go and she pushed him away, anger in her eye's.

" Why didn't you let me help him!" She yelled, his eye's narrowed as he looked at her.

" You were about to compromise our job! What was I supposed to do, let you help your friend and than us get caught?" He yelled back.

" Ah don't care if we get caught or not! That man's my friend, the one person Ah could trust, the one person who helped me when Ah needed it most! And now he might be dead and it might be my fault because Ah didn't go and help him!" She yelled, her emotions trying to get the best of her, she could see the anger still in Gambit's eye's.

" So yo were willing to risk your life, mine as well, just to save a friend that you never told me about?" He asked. " Also what could you have done? You absorb people, your powers can kill people! If you had gone to give him CPR you would've done more harm than good, you're a walking plague!" As soon as the words left his mouth he instantly regretted it, all anger left her face and what was left in it's place was sadness, despair, hurt.

" Rogue, I-." He started but she cut him off, tears stinging her eye's.

" Save it Swamp boy, let's just leave." She said as she walked to the bike and got on the back of it, Gambit sat in front of her, started the engine, and drove back to the hotel.

Once they were back there they went up to their room silently, as soon as Gambit opened the door Rogue walked inside and looked herself in the bathroom, he sat down at the coffee table and continued searching the web, he had to call the buyer and set up and date and time to meet. He looked through his email, which he thought was the coolest thing ever, and saw an email from someone he didn't recognize he opened it and read.

" Dear Remy,

I know you asked Alpha and Omega about me, but I know they didn't tell you a thing, so, I suggest we meet tonight, 11:00, the bridge three blocks from your hotel, don't be late darling.

Sincerely,

E"

Gambit looked at his watch and saw it was three minutes to 11, he walked to the bathroom door and knocked.

" Hey I gotta step out for a minute, be back soon okay?" He got no response but he walked out of the room and left the hotel.

He walked toward the bridge and saw Emilie standing there with her back to him.

" Been looking for you." He said as he approached her, she smirked and looked at him.

" Been waiting for you." She turned to look at him, her smirk widened slightly. " I will admit, I was surprised you had found a grifter so quickly. Tell me, how did she react when you told her that you were from a different time?" She cocked her head to the side as he looked away from her, than she laughed.

" Oh! You didn't tell her did you? That'll be fun to see you tell her, oh my gosh, she'll probably bust into tears and yell and scream!" She laughed in delight, Gambit growled.

" Leave her out of this." He warned dangerously, she held up her hands in mock surrender.

" Geesh sorry, didn't know you felt so strongly about her, oh wait, isn't that against the rules? Only thieves can get with thieves and grifters with grifters?" She said, tilting her head side to side in thought.

" Are you going to tell me why I'm here or not?" He questioned, he crossed his arms over his chest and she sighed.

" You're no fun," she whined. " But, from the sound of your voice, you don't really wanna leave do you?" She raised an eye brow as he looked away again.

" Just answer the damn question."

" So you do wanna stay! Is it because of her? That little skunk headed grifter? Whose skin is made of poison? She pointed a finger at him.

" Answer the question!" He demanded, she sighed.

" Nope, you'll just have to stay here and suffer." Her smirk widened and disappeared.

" Wait!" He started but when she disappeared he accidentally charged the concrete the bridge was made of, he pulled the charge back and went to the hotel, how did she know so much about Rogue? Was she following them? Did she intentionally put him there in New Orleans so he would meet her? He shook his head as he walked into the hotel.

He went up to his room and he opened the door, he saw the bathroom door was open he looked around the room and didn't see her anywhere, he looked at the kitchen cabinet and saw a note, it was in Rogue's handwriting.

" Goodbye, Gambit."

He blinked, what did that mean? Did she just leave him here? Did she leave for the night, or forever? He looked around the room and saw her stuff was gone, all of it, he sat down on the bed and sighed.

Rogue was gone.

This chapter was difficult to write in a way, I hated writing them fighting because I don't like seeing them fight. Anyway hope this was a good chapter, we'll be time jumping in the next one so be ready, hope y'all liked it thanks for reading and reviewing!
