"Blaze hates anything related with the wild. He doesn't fear it, but the wild has caused much harm to one of his friends. So Hunter, please understand that my partner does not mean harm to Brightclaw and her brother. Blaze just wishes to protect me." Rosie explains as we enter the pirate ship that we have been looking for ever since we had arrived at the bay. Surprisingly, he ship is full of fresh air.
"I do understand." I say as I take the mask off of my head.
"You do, Hunter?" Rosie sniffles while putting her mask away, I do the same.
"I understand it perfectly." I sigh bringing out a photo.
"What is the photo of?" Rosie asks as she tilts her head to the right looking at the picture in the frame.
"Heh, this picture takes me back. It was taken about five years ago. This picture is of Brightclaw the day she saved me from being held back a year in school and when she had saved the principal's daughter." I explain while handing her the picture.
"She looks so peaceful sleeping in your arms." Rosie laughed.
"Rosie, I have already said too much! I won't say anymore, because it is to protect Brightclaw." I sigh looking at my partner whose claws are now shining in the darkness. Brightclaw walks over to Blaze to talk to him, but he moves away without a sound. My partner now drops her ears back in sadness.
"How would not telling me something, protect Brightclaw?" Rosie asks me as I continue to look away, but Rosie gets in front of my face.
"It just will!" I whisper as two tears fall from my eyes.
"I can keep a secret. I promise you, Hunter. If you don't tell me, then how are the seven of us supposed to he a team?" Rosie says as tears fall from her face now. I haven't noticed this ever before, but her eyes show me something different from the annoying, scared, little girl that I met at Greenhorn Plains, but a free spirit that cares for others without a second thought.
"Fine, but you must not tell anyone, not even Blaze." I whisper into her ear. Rosie nods her head yes. Taking another deep breath I tell Rosie the truth about Brightclaw.
Several minutes have passed and we are all alone. There is now complete silence in the air.
"So…Brightclaw was human originally, and she doesn't have all of her memories except being human, from before she was transformed?" Rosie asked breaking the silence.
"Yes, and one thing that is helping her recover her memories, the games that she plays, art that is sketched or sculpted, also the toy that she had when I found her." I explain.
"Doesn't she want to be human again?" Rosie asks me.
"No, because she knows what will happen if she is no longer an angel-hound." I sigh as I get up to look for our partners.
"What would happen?" Rosie asks.
"All of the other angel-hounds would fade from existence, including our partners. They are all connected by a thread, the thread is like DNA, but they are not all related at all. Every angel-hound has a different DNA signature that separates themselves from each other. The angel-hounds were a side-effect when Brightclaw was transformed. It was all an illegal experiment that went wrong and created something that would bring our world new creatures that live to protect the ones they care about." I explain to Rosie as she wipes the tears away from her eyes.
"Brightclaw is suffering a great burden then. She can't return to her original family at all. They must be worried sick! If Brightclaw wanted to return home as a human, she would end up causing all of the angel-hounds to disappear and never return." Rosie cries now realizing why I have kept it a secret.
I walk over to Rosie and hug her. "Please, don't cry. It pains me to see a friend cry, and it would make Brightclaw feel even worse if she knew that you were crying over her." I say while still hugging Rosie. She starts to calm down a bit. "Whenever my little sister would cry from a bad dream, I would see Brightclaw slowly walk into the room by herself and then she would curl up next to my sister on the bed like a dog." I explain. "I use to think that it was because Brightclaw had always wanted a younger sibling, but she has Brightshadow. So now I know that Brightclaw hates to see people cry or be sad." I explain as I let go of Rosie. "Now let's get going. We want to find Woolbeard's treasure, right?!" I laugh, trying to cheer her up.
"Right!" Rosie laughs as she wipes away the last of her tears.
Brightclaw237: Hope you all enjoyed he chapter. This one puts a bit more history of the angel-hounds, and how somebody reacts to our hero's explanation of something that he has kept hidden for years, Hunter's vivosaurs didn't even know until now. He doesn't even know that they know.
Moss: Also we will keep it that way for awhile.
Brightclaw237: H-hey! How did you even get here?
Sakura: Probably, because of a certain flame colored canine.
Brightclaw237: (Now annoyed) You've got to be kidding me. (Picks Blaze up by the scruff of the neck) You stay out of here! You don't even want to be near Brightclaw or her brother! (Sets Blaze in a dog crate being air mailed to the Richmond Building). Anyways, please review.
