Chapter 12: Titan Among Us

A/N: I hate Xur...I swear sometimes he pisses me off. Can he be a boss just so we can kill him? Anyway, time to make some shit up! Well, gotta include SOME things that aren't canon, lol.

"So, you're a Guardian as well?" Questioned an 'in deep thought' Ozpin. He took a sip from his mug as Jayce and Devan sat across from his deck. "Tell me, how did you arrive here, was it the same as your partner?" He asked.

"Yeah, our ships had a malfunction in our 'Warp Drive', it's a mechanism for long-distance travel. Except for some reason, the fallen was after me." He turned to Devan. "I thought the Darkness left."

"The war against the Darkness wasn't over, they just retreated...you know our fight against them isn't over, bro." Devan said and Ozpin chucked lightly.

"It seems like you two need to get back to your world as soon as you can." Ozpin stated. "However, I'm not sure if you can find the right parts here, we can aid you in your mission to rebuild your ships. But I'm afraid it will take time."

Jayce nodded. "I understand." He looked over to Devan. "Is that why you sent out a distress signal?"

"Yeah, I thought you'd be able to come get me, but the fallen thought otherwise..." Devan sighed. Ozpin handed Jayce a scroll.

"Since you showed me the schematics of your ships problematic mechanism, I was able to give you a list of the metals and elements similar to the ones you requested. Although it will take time for them to come in." Ozpin said as he sat back down. "Now for the time being-"

"Hold on, sir. I need to speak to him for a moment." Devan pulled Jayce back for a moment while Ozpin nodded for their privacy.

"Dude, I hope you're prepared for a long-term visit. We're gonna be here for a while." Devan dropped the news. Jayce looked at him funny.

"Chh, all right man." They both sat back down. "You were saying?" Jayce allowed Ozpin to continue.

"How would you like to stay here at my school? You're partner agreed to, so I assume your decision would be..."

"Sure. I'd be glad to. You seem to be running a fine institution, headmaster." Jayce complimented Ozpin's school. Devan told him about what the school teaches the students while they were heading up to his office.

"So formal. Thank you for your compliments, Guardian." Ozpin nodded to him, which Jayce returned. "You will be staying in Team JNPR's room, it's right across where your partner is staying. I will have your sleeping arrangements ready by tomorrow night, yours too as well, Mr. Treynach.

"I was getting quite comfortable on the floor." He joked. "We'll we should introduce you to the teams. I'm sure they're eager to meet you."

As they left Ozpin's office, Jayce laughed himself to tears. "Dude, I didn't think he'd understand my 'formal' talk. "

"You're freakin' ridiculous, man." Devan laughed himself.

"So, you've been staying in those girl's room that I saw earlier?" Jayce asked him, grinning.

"First of all, they don't know exactly who I am. I act a bit different around them. I don't want to give them the impression I'm an asshole. Although...I'm sure they know that. Second, shut up." Devan warned him, he knew what Jayce was thinking. "It's not like that, they'd murder me if I said or did anything to them wrong."

"Well, that White-haired girl looked pretty...mean." Jayce said, recalling Weiss when he saw her earlier.

"I think she's got something against me." Devan said as they rounded a corner.

"They seem like pretty nice people." Jayce smiled, awkwardly.

"Yeah...if only they've been through what we've been through-" Jayce interrupted him.

"Fallen, Hive, Vex, and Cabal...some things change you." Jayce finished.

"It only takes dying and becoming a Guardian to change the world, huh?" Devan held up a fist.

"Hah. Yeah, to change the world, for the better that is." They fist bumped before knocking on Team RWBY's door. "Yo!"

The door opened up, revealing Ruby. "Hello!"

Both Devan and Jayce walked in, all eyes went straight to Jayce. Jayce was a little bit taller than Devan, that always got Devan teased a bit from the female guardians, was one inch really a difference?

"Well hello there~" Yang chimed as they walked in. "Sup." Jayce said, acting casually. "You look a lot stronger than Devan over here." Yang teased, this prompted Scythe to pop out from behind Jayce to speak. "Actually...each class of Guardian as their own advantage. Devan could pick my Guardian's head off from over one mile. Up close, not so much."

"Wow, Thanks Scythe, only making me look bad." Jayce had a wry smile on his face.

"So, you have different combat abilities than Devan?" Blake asked, the only logical question to ask first, anyways. Devan slouched down in his corner while Jayce answered questions.

"Yup. I prefer to get in close to beat the crap out of my enemies, I assume that's what her strength is?" He asked while looking over at Yang.

"Right-o." Yang answered.

"Okay, listen blondie, I don't care whose stronger or not. He's my brother, and we work together, not against each other." Everyone pulled their heads back for a moment.

"All righty, you're no fun." She pouted, jokingly.

"Anyways, yes. I'm a Guardian, just like him. My preference is CQB, or Close Quarters Combat. Anything else you need to know?" He calmly asked them.

"Who is your third fireteam member? Aren't they going to try to fish you two out of here?" Weiss asked Jayce, this prompted silence from him, it was hard to see the face he made through his helmet, but Devan's face made it clear.

"Didn't I already tell you?" The sound in his voice was low, but he was making something clear. "She's dead."

"You don't know that, Devan, I keep telling you that." Jayce was trying to sprinkle sugar on it, but was actually pouring salt into the wound.

"We both know what happened during that Raid. Let's just leave it at that." Devan stood up and left.

Jayce sighed as he watched him leave. "Well, I can tell he isn't on good terms with you, snow white."

Weiss huffed. "Hmph."

"I'm going to meet with the other team I'm supposed to be staying with. It was nice to meet you three." He nodded to everyone but Weiss. She just turned her head to him as he left as well.

"Weiss, why can't you just accept them?" Ruby asked her.

"Because! How can you trust someone who won't even show you their face?!" She had a good point.

"They aren't hostile." Blake pointed out.

"Even if they aren't I still don't trust them, it's going to take a lot for them to prove to me they aren't." Weiss crossed her arms.

"Jayce seems like a cool guy." She grinned.

"Do you flirt with every new guy that falls out of the sky?" Blake asked her, which prompted a playful punch from Yang.

20 minuted after Jayce got along with Team JNPR, he wanted to talk to Devan about things, which included news from Earth and what's been going on. He couldn't find him to he resorted to Scythe. "Can you find Devan for me?" He asked her.

"Just a moment...he is right above us." She said.

"On the roof...of course." He watched Scythe disappear and he made his way to the roof, looking around where Team RWBY's dorm would be under him. He found him sitting on a perch above their room. "Hey man. You okay?" Ghost appeared next to Jayce.

"I don't think he is all right, Jayce. Maybe you should talk to him, I can't get through to him." Ghost said, looking back to his Guardian.

Jayce sighed and sat on the perch next to Devan. "You know, the moon won't replace Angel." He said. Waiting for his response, Jayce looked up at the cracked moon, noticing it was very odd. "The speaker has some news he wanted me to give you. Anything that involves the Darkness that you or Devan finds on that planet, you are to destroy. Make sure the Darkness is purged from any planet with life." He finished with a grin. "Looks like we have a new mission, huh?"

Devan nodded slowly. "Yeah, we do. But do you think there would be any Fallen, Hive, Cabal or Vex here?" He asked him.

"I don't know. But for the time being, we should lay low. If they were to appear here, that is when we would strike. They know when the Traveler's light is being used as a weapon." Jayce reminded him.

"True. But if they do show up, we'll just kick their butts like normal, right?" Devan fist bumped Jayce.

"You know it, brother." Jayce said with a grin.

"So, besides all this crazy drama that keeps arising, what do you think?" Devan looked out into the distance.

"It's a pretty nice place. I didn't think there'd be life out here like this...I thought Earth was the only-"

"Jayce, you know better than to think that. I'm sure this planet can handle itself. But when it comes down to the evil...it's definitely here. Something's telling me I need to be here for some reason, I can't say what it is..." Devan continued to think what it could be.

"You like that cat-girl huh?" Jayce chuckled a bit.

"How did you know she wasn't human?" Devan looked at him with a brow cocked up.

Jayce pointed at his helmet. "Visor, outlines the body for displacements. She looked like she hat pointy ears in that bow of hers."

"Why didn't I think of that." Devan facepalmed. "Anyway, there is an anti-human faction known as the White Fang. They think they are fighting for equality, when really they aren't, at least peacefully."

"Hmm, sounds like the problem we have with the Awoken." Jayce thought about it.

"My thoughts exactly. Anyway, a small tip. If you see a guy with a chest piece that looks like the Crest of Alpha Lupi, it has a bird on it. His name is Cardin, he's got a problem with faunus, so he is racist. You see him causing trouble with anyone, human or faunus..." Devan sighed. "Stop him."

"You know me, you saw what I did to that one Warlock." Jayce laughed. A Human Warlock was calling an Awoken Hunter a freak because his skin was blue. You can say Jayce practically sent that guy home to mama after what he did to him. If there is one thing Jayce despises other than blondes, was racists.

"So, is he your brother?" Ruby asked Devan as he slouched down in his corner.

"You can say he is. He was in my first fireteam when I first became a Guardian. He is my closest friend next to my old Fireteam leader. We've had each others backs numerous times." He yawned lightly. "By the way, Blake, he knows about you." Devan said quietly.

"Did you tell him?" She looked pretty mad for a moment.

"Woah woah, relax, he figured out on his own. Our visors in our helmets have bio scanners. He was able to see that you have an outline that followed up to your bow, showing things that humans don't. As to knowing what kind of faunus...I don't know how he knew that one." Devan peered up a bit, thinking.

Blake sighed. "I don't even want to know. Just make sure he keeps his mouth shut." With that, she went to sleep.

Devan glared at Weiss before flicking his hood over his eyes, and closing them.

"Why do you do that?" Weiss asked Devan. She obviously caught the glare.

"Am I not allowed to look at the pwetty pwetty pwincess?" He mocked her. This got Yang, and Blake to laugh a bit, Ruby was already fast asleep.

"Hmph! Whatever." She said before jumping in bed. "Jerk." She muttered, loud enough for him to hear it.

A/N: Wow, Devan's a jerk guys, it's official. Anyway, I might have some more non-cannon chapters before it gets to RWBY's Volume 2 version of this story. Gotta have that build up. :P Hope you guys enjoy. :)
