"No, nothing's wrong," the doctor replied. "You're just having twins."
Eric and Melissa looked at each other in disbelieve. They couldn't believe it.
"Twins? Are you sure?" Melissa asked.
"Yes, look. Here's one heartbeat and here's the other."
"Twins? I can't believe it."
"I know me neither," Eric told her.
"Is everything alright with them?"
"Yes, they seem perfectly healthy. Everything seems fine. So I'll see you in 5 weeks for your 20 weeks checkup."
"Alright thank you doctor."
The doctor handed them a picture of the ultrasound. On their way out they made a new appointment before driving to the office.
"I can't believe we're having twins," Eric spoke.
"Me neither. I wasn't expecting this. We'll be getting two babies," Melissa replied with a smile.
"Yeah I know. It may be hard but I'm sure we can handle it together."
"Yeah we will."
Melissa and Eric had a quiet day at work. When they got home Melissa went to prepare dinner, Finley was over at a friend's house, he would be brought home any minute now. Melissa pulled out the ultrasound picture and put it on the fridge.
"I love you," Eric told Melissa as he hugged her from behind while Melissa was making dinner.
"I love you too."
"I still can't believe we're actually having twins," Eric spoke as he put his hands on her stomach. He could feel the small bump.
"Yeah me neither. But I'm sure it's gonna be wonderful to have two little babies."
"Of course it will." There was a knock on the door. "That's probably Finley." Eric gave Melissa a kiss before he went to open the door. "Hey buddy."
"Hey dad," Finley replied as he walked in.
Eric waved goodbye to the mom of his friend before closing the door.
"How was school today?"
"School was fine. I got a B+ on my history test."
"That's good buddy."
Finley walked into the kitchen to get something to drink.
"Hi mom."
"Hi Finley. Had a good day at school?"
"Yes it was fine." Finley looked at the picture on the fridge. "Mom, is this the little baby?"
"Yes it is. We had that taken today. Just look closely, do you see something else?"
Finley looked closely at the picture. "No, not really. What is it?"
"Just look here and here." Melissa pointed to the two heartbeats on the picture.
"Are that two heartbeats?"
"Yes they are. We're having twins."
"Twins? That's awesome! I hope it's a baby brother and a baby sister."
"We don't know that yet."
"When will you know?"
"Not sure if we want to know before the babies are born but otherwise probably in 5 weeks."
"I wanna know."
"We'll see about that. Can you set the table please?"
"Sure mom."
That Saturday they had invited Eric's and Melissa's family to tell them the news about the babies. Melissa had made a lovely dinner for them.
"Well, I'm sure you all wondered why we had this dinner party," Melissa spoke after dinner. Some of the people nodded. "Well, Eric and I have some wonderful news to tell you. We're having twins."
"Twins?" Mary replied astonished. "That's amazing." Mary gave her daughter a hug. "How far along are you?"
"15 weeks."
Everyone congratulated Eric and Melissa.
…
That Monday Eric and Melissa had agreed to tell the rest of the team about the pregnancy. Eric whistled everyone upstairs for the new case they had.
"Before we inform you about the case, there's something Eric and I want to tell you," Melissa addressed the group.
"What is it?" Nell asked excited. "Are you pregnant?"
"Yes I am, with twins."
"Twins? That's amazing." Nell gave Melissa big hug. "I'm so happy for you, congratulations."
"Thank you."
Everyone congratulated them before Hetty told them that they needed to get started on the case.
Eric was working downstairs in the gadget room so only Melissa and Nell were upstairs.
"So you're getting twins."
"Yes, we are. We found out a couple days ago."
"It's really amazing. How far along are you?"
"Just 15 weeks."
"Everything going okay so far?"
"Yes, everything is going fine. Just hoping it will stay that way."
"I'm sure it will. I have a good feeling about this."
"I hope you're right. I can't lose another baby."
"You won't. I'm sure of it. How does Finley feel about it?"
"He's really excited. He's hoping for a baby brother and sister."
"Are you gonna find out what you're having?"
"Not sure yet. I haven't talked about that with Eric yet. With Finley I didn't know. We'll see."
"I'm really happy for you two."
"Thanks Nell."
…..
"Finley, your dad and I are going shopping for the babies. You wanna come with us?" Melissa asked that Saturday.
"Sure, can I pick out something for them then?"
"Sure, if you want to."
15 minutes later they walked into the store.
"Wow, this is a big store," Finley stated.
"Yeah, well you need to get a lot of stuff when you're having a baby."
"Like what?"
"Well, a crib, closet, changing table, stroller, car seats, clothes, bottles, pacifiers, diapers, toys, that sort of stuff."
"Did I have those things?"
"Yes you had those things too. But now we have to get two of everything."
They walked through the aisles and picked the stuff they needed. Melissa loved being in the clothes department. She just loved the baby clothes. Since they didn't know what they were having they bought unisex clothes, mostly onesies and pajama's. Melissa looked at the girls clothes a bit too. She hoped that she would be getting at least one girl.
"Aw look Eric, this is so cute." Melissa showed Eric a cute dress.
"Yeah it's cute. If we're having a girl you can buy that."
They picked out 2 nice cribs with bedding and covers. They picked out 2 white cribs and 2 multicolored checkered covers with animals on it. From the same collection they picked out a closet and a changing table. They also picked out 2 rocking chairs. There were a lot of strollers to choose from. They finally picked out a double stroller, they could have the 2 seats next to each other or one in front of the other. They also picked out two car seats.
"Mom, can I pick these two?" Finley spoke when he walked up to Melissa with two cute teddy bears.
"Sure, they are very cute. I'm sure the babies will love them."
Just before paying they made sure they had everything.
"Damn, I didn't know babies cost that much," Eric spoke when they paid for everything.
"Yeah having a baby is not cheap and we're having two so we have to have everything double."
"Congratulations," the cashier said. "When are you due?"
"July 24th, so that's a while from now. But you can never be too earlier with baby shopping."
"Nope, you can't."
They paid for the stuff and loaded everything in the car. Next they went to pick out paint or wallpaper for the baby room. They settled on light green wallpaper with an animal band in the middle for the two large walls and light green paint for the two others wall and beige carpet. The furniture would be delivered in 5 to 7 weeks. In 3 weeks they would come and put the carpet in. Eric said he would do painting and the wallpapering himself. Eric and Finley unloaded the car together. Eric didn't want Melissa to do any lifting so she went and got started on dinner.
Finley and Eric played a game on the Wii before it was time for bed.
Melissa and Eric sat on the couch watching TV together. Eric's hand was on Melissa's stomach.
"Do you wanna know what we're having?" Melissa asked Eric.
"I don't know. Do you wanna know?"
"With Finley I didn't know but I think it would be nice to know this time around."
"That's fine with me too. I don't really care what we're having as long as the babies are healthy."
"Yeah me too, but it would be nice to get at least one girl."
"Yeah that would be nice. If you really wanna know that's fine with me."
"Yeah I wanna know."
"Then we'll ask the doctor for it next time. Or can't they see it yet then?"
"They should be able to see it at 20 weeks."
"Alright then. I still can't believe we're actually having twins."
"Yeah me neither. But we're gonna be alright. We can do this."
"Easy for you to say, you already raised a baby."
"You're gonna be fine sweetie. You're a wonderful father to Finley and I'm sure you're gonna be a wonderful father to the twins."
"I hope so. Having a baby is new to me."
"You're gonna be fine honey. The most important thing is that you love them and I'm absolutely sure you'll love them."
"Yeah absolutely. I already love them." Eric bent down and placed a kiss on Melissa's stomach.
"I know you do."
"And I love you too." Eric gave Melissa a kiss.
"I love you too. I'm really glad you are here with me this time."
"Of course. And I'm not going anywhere. I'll be there for you whenever you need me. And I'll be there with you when the little babies are being born."
"That's good cus I need you there."
"I'm not going anywhere."
Eric wanted to kiss her again but Melissa pushed him away and ran to the bathroom where she threw up.
"You okay?" Eric asked when Melissa walked back into the living room.
"Yeah I'm good. Just nauseous."
They stayed up for a little while before going to bed. Melissa stood in front of the mirror and looked at her stomach. There was definitely a little bump there.
"You look so beautiful," Eric spoke as he hugged her from behind and he put his hands on her baby bump.
"I'm starting to look a bit fat."
"You're not fat. You have a beautiful baby bump. You look really beautiful."
"Thanks." Melissa turned her head backwards and kissed Eric.
They put their pajamas on and got in bed. Melissa lay on her side and she was reading a book. Eric crawled up behind her and put his arm around her as he started kissing her neck.
"Not now Eric, I'm not in the mood."
"Okay."
Eric lay close to her and had his hand on her baby bump. Melissa had to go out a couple times that night to throw up.
"Good morning honey, want some breakfast?" Eric spoke as Melissa walked into the kitchen.
"No thank you, the smell alone is making me nauseous."
"Morning sickness?"
"Yeah I guess."
"Here have some crackers, you have to eat something before we go to work." Eric gave her the crackers and gave her a kiss on her head.
"Thanks."
Melissa tried to eat some crackers but she wasn't really in the mood to eat.
"Are you sure you're okay to go to work?" Eric asked after Melissa had thrown up.
"Yeah I'm good. Just a bit nauseous. I'm fine."
They went to work after Finley had left for school. Just as Melissa and Eric arrived at work they got a new case.
"What do we have?" Callen asked as the agents walked into OPS.
"LAPD raided a warehouse today. It was believed to be a hideout for a gang. When they breached they found this inside," Eric informed them as he put the pictures up on the screen.
They saw 3 dead people lying there in Navy uniforms.
"Any ID on the vics?"
"The ID cards they had with them weren't issued by the Navy."
"Then where did they get them and why do they look like Navy personnel?" Deeks asked.
"Don't know yet. We're running them through the system. No hits so far."
"We need to find out what was in that warehouse," Callen stated. "Kensi, Deeks, you go talk with LAPD to find out everything you can about this raid. Sam and I will check out the warehouse." Kensi and Deeks left. "You three see what you can find out about these people and how they got their Navy ID's and uniforms."
Callen and Sam left as well. Eric went to check cameras in the area to see who was in that building. Melissa and Nell searched for an identity on the bodies. A little later Kensi called.
"Yeah Kensi?" Melissa answered.
"LAPD will send over their case file."
"Thanks."
"Anything new there?"
"We were able to find where they got their ID's from. It's from an illegal ID maker. Address is on your phones."
"Great, we'll check it out."
Melissa and Nell went over the case file. There was nothing in there that was tied to anything in the Navy.
"They got Intel that this was a hideout for one of the gangs but when they arrived they didn't find anything except for the 3 dead bodies," Melissa summed up. "So where did the tip come from and why were there 3 dead bodies and why were they posing as marines?"
"I think I may have something," Eric spoke.
"What have you got Eric?" Melissa replied as she and Nell stood behind Eric's computer.
"Those 3 ID's were used at Pendleton last night."
"Pendleton? How can they get in with fake ID's?"
"Must be really good fake ID's," Nell stated.
"Where did they go?" Melissa asked.
"They got into one of the storage facilities."
"Did they take something?"
"Pendleton doesn't have any reports of a break in. But there was a shipment going out yesterday. But that was signed for and everything."
"Can you pull up footage from the storage facility?"
"Just a minute."
Eric searched the footage and rewound it to the time the ID's were logged. They saw three men coming to pick something up. It was signed for and they loaded it in the truck.
"Can you zoom in on their faces?" Melissa asked. Eric got a clear shot of their faces. "Those are the three dead men."
"This case doesn't make any sense," Eric stated.
"I'll call Camp Pendleton." Melissa dialed the phone. "Hello, this is Melissa Beale from the NCIS office in LA. I'm calling about a shipment you sent out yesterday. A Frank Henson singed for it."
"Yes, I signed the shipment out myself. Is there a problem with the shipment?"
"We have reason to believe that those weren't real Navy personnel and they were found death this morning."
"Not real Navy personnel? They checked out. They had ID's and everything. Frank Henson has dealt with more deliveries in the past. What happened to them?"
"We're not sure yet. What was in the shipment?"
"Some weapons. They were sent away to be destroyed, they didn't function properly anymore."
"Well the 3 marines were found dead but there was no sign of the weapons. LAPD raided the place cus they got a hit it was a hideout for a gang."
"So you're saying that the gang has the weapons now?"
"It's possible. Can you send everything to us that you have about Henson?"
"Sure, anything I can do to help but as far as I could tell they were marines."
"Thank you for your help."
Nell looked through the document of Frank Henson. She had it on the big screen. Melissa was staring at the picture.
"Something on your mind Melissa?" Eric asked.
"It's just something about this picture. Something seems off. Nell, can you put the picture of Henson next to it from last night?"
Melissa grabbed her tablet and typed in some codes to compare the two pictures. The markers on the face weren't the same with both pictures.
"That guy from last night wasn't Henson," Melissa stated.
"So where is the real Henson then?" Eric wondered.
Melissa put the pics of the two others in the computer too. She got a hit on both pics of Marines we had almost the same markers.
"They made themselves look like marines so they could steal some weapons," Nell stated.
Melissa walked downstairs to inform the agents.
"Guys, we have a problem."
"What is it Melissa?" Callen asked.
"The 3 dead guys stole the identities of 3 marines and they made themselves look like them. This is the real Frank Henson and this is the guy that posed as Frank last night," Melissa told them as she put the pictures up on the screen. "Their facial markers don't match. We checked the other two and they don't match either. Their names are real, just not the right face with it."
"So where are the real marines?" Kensi wondered.
"We don't know yet. They used their identities to get into Pendleton and steal some weapons."
"It they took their identities why not their ID cards as well?" Deeks spoke.
"Maybe cus they changed the picture just slightly but not enough to raise suspicion."
"What do we know about who they really are?"
"Not much, their identities have been as good as wiped but we did find the clinic they used to get a make-over. Address is on your phones."
"We'll go check it out. See if you can find the real marines."
Melissa walked back upstairs to help Eric and Nell find the real marines.
"Guys, I've got the tracker from the crate of weapons. It's off but I can put it back on again so we can see where those weapons are and hopefully we'll find those marines."
Melissa got the address and sent it to the agents. The agents put on their gear before storming the place. It was a wall of gunfire for about 5 minutes. All of the gang members were death. They searched the place and found the stolen weapons and the three missing marines. Luckily they were still alive.
…
Melissa was now 18 weeks pregnant and the carpet was just put in. Eric and Finley started painting and wallpapering the walls. Finley loved helping Eric. Eric did the wallpaper while Finley painted.
"How's it going here?" Melissa asked as she walked in with a tray with sandwiches and orange juice.
"It's going really good. Finley is helping me a lot."
"Yeah it looks good so far. I brought you some sandwiches. I thought you boys must be hungry."
"Thanks mom."
Eric gave Melissa a kiss and kissed her stomach. She was showing for a few weeks now. Since she was carrying twins her baby bump was bigger than with Finley. Eric loved the dress she was wearing. It showed off her baby bump perfectly.
Eric and Finley worked in the room until it was time for dinner. They washed up before having dinner. Eric and Finley did the dishes together.
"Mom, do you have pictures of me as a baby?"
"Of course I have."
Melissa grabbed Finley's baby book and looked at it together with him.
"Is this me too?" Finley asked as he picked up an ultrasound picture.
"Yes that is you. That is the first picture I had of you. It was my first ultrasound."
"I'm so little, I can't even see it." Melissa pointed to Finley in the picture. "That's me? I'm even smaller then my pinky finger."
"Yes, that's you. I was only 7 weeks here so you were very little."
They looked at some pictures before it was time for bed.
….
Today was Melissa's 20 weeks checkup. Eric and Melissa had decided that they wanted to know what they were having.
"Good morning, how are we doing?" The doctor greeted them.
"We're doing fine. Not that nauseous anymore in the morning, but my feet and back are starting to hurt a bit. But that's normal."
"Yes is it. Well, let's go see what the babies are up to."
Melissa and Eric followed the doctor to the exam room. Eric helped Melissa lay down on the table.
"Before we continue I wanna ask you if you want to know the babies' sex."
"Yes, we wanna know," Melissa answered.
"Alright, let's go find out shall we."
The doctor fired up the computer and put some gel and the wand. As soon as she put the wand on Melissa's stomach they heard the babies' heartbeat.
"Wow, listen to that. They are so fast," Eric uttered.
"It's perfectly normal," the doctor explained. "Let's see what we're having."
Thank you for reading and reviewing. What do you think they are having?
