Author's Note: Sorry it took so long to get this chapter up but I hope you enjoy it! I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season, Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone in the United States and Happy Hanukkah to everyone who is Jewish. As this story is drawing to a close (2-3 more chapters left) I was wondering if anyone is up for a sequel cause I have some really good ideas for that if I do do one!
Disclaimer: Same old same old, The Mentalist is not mine blah blah blah.
"Boss!" Cho called once he saw Teresa and Patrick come out of the elevator.
"Where is Christina?" Teresa shot out immediately as she moved her hand away from Patrick's.
"We believe at Alexa Davis's house." Cho said trying not to notice how his Boss had made great distance from herself and Patrick.
"Jane and I went to visit her personally, we saw no sign of her hiding her sister anywhere." Teresa said grabbing the case file off a desk in the bullpen.
"How did you find her?" Teresa asked while looking up at Cho, who besides Patrick and herself was the only ones at the office.
"I was just about to leave when I decided to check and see if Christina's phone was on. I must have gotten lucky because it was." Cho said looking back and forth between Teresa and Patrick.
"Are you sure she's there?" Patrick asked butting into the conversation after studying the suspect board.
"Almost a hundred percent,I'm just waiting for Van Pelt to arrive and confirm." Cho said giving a slight sigh.
"Do you believe that Ronald's killer is there too?" Teresa asked putting the case file back onto the desk and taking out her cell phone.
"Maybe." Cho answered.
"We are going to have to enter the home with precaution, Alexa has 5 children and they could be anywhere, getting Christina and the kids out safely is our number one priority!" Teresa told Cho as she walked to her office.
"Get Van Pelt and Rigsby here, I need to make some calls before we can move any farther." Teresa said walking into her office leaving Cho and Patrick behind.
-Shattered-
"There's frozen waffles in the freezer, and just give Hayden some Cheerios." Teresa sighed into her cell phone.
"Kay. Aunt Reese can we please come to the office though?" Annabeth asked again hoping for a different answer than she had gotten the other two times she had asked.
"No, I don't want any of you guys getting hurt, we may have found Christina and there is to much going on right now, I don't need to be worrying about you guys too understood. Jane or I will come and get Hayden when we get Christina." Teresa said while tossing another file to the side on her desk.
"Fine, promise you won't get hurt." Annabeth said while pulling down a box of Cheerios from the pantry.
"I will try my best. Love you." Teresa said as she looked up from her computer to see Patrick standing in the doorway.
"Love you too, bye." Annabeth smiled.
"Bye." Teresa said hanging up the phone.
"Not barging into my office that's something new." Teresa smiled waving him in.
"I thought I would try something new." Patrick smiled walking to the couch and laying down.
"Uh huh, what do you want." Teresa asked getting up from the chair behind her desk.
"Nothing, is there a problem with me just wanting to be in the presence of the woman I love?" Patrick asked smiling happily, closing his eyes.
"That's sweet, but I've got work I need to get done before we go and get Christina and I don't need any distractions!" Teresa sighed knowing she had lost the battle before it had even started.
"Meh." Was the only sound to escape from Patrick before he drifted off to sleep.
-Shattered-
"Jada!" Zella yelled jumping on her sister, to get her out of bed.
"Get off!" Jada yelled sleepily.
"It's almost 10, Aaron and Michelle told me we had to be home by 12." Zella yelled pulling her sister out of bed.
"When did you talk to Aaron and Michelle?" Jada asked sitting up slightly.
"About a half an hour ago and we have a situation." Zella sighed sitting on the bed, when Annabeth walked into the room with Hayden.
"What's the situation?" Both Annabeth and Jada asked at the same time.
"Apparently, they had both been drunk last night when Jada had told them that we were staying over. They both want to meet your Aunt when they get here." Zella sighed.
"She's working, she's not coming back just to meet your foster parents." Annabeth said putting Hayden on the ground so she could run around.
"Well they don't take no for an answer." Jada said rubbing her eyes, getting the sleep out of them.
"Let's just go to your Aunt's work and have them pick us up there." Zella offered.
"I mean that's our only choice." Annabeth sighed. "The next bus leaves in a half an hour, so we need to get going."
After about twenty five minutes of running around the apartment like chickens with their heads cut off, everyone had made it to the bus stop just as the bus pulled up.
"Do you think your Aunt will be mad that we're going to CBI?" Jada asked as she played with Hayden on her lap.
"Yeah, but she'll get over it." Annabeth said moving over to make room for more people to sit down.
"Yes, because your Aunt is known for letting things go." Zella chuckled.
"Shut up!" Annabeth shot back.
"Well it's true." Jada added.
"At least my parents didn't abandon me!" Annabeth said without thinking.
"Hey! They didn't abandon us!" Zella yelled back.
"Hell they didn't, your Mom's a coke head and your Dad's in prison, doesn't sound like abandonment at all." Annabeth yelled back, drawing attention from the people surrounding them.
"Well at least my Mom didn't just get up and leave because she didn't love me!" Zella shot back.
"Shut up! My Mom loved me!" Annabeth yelled wiping a tear that escaped from her eye.
"Yeah she loved you so much she went around sleeping with tons of other men, while she left you and your Dad to fend for yourselves!" Zella said getting more and more irritated.
"At least I have a family to go home to!" Annabeth yelled.
"Take that back, you bitch!" Zella yelled.
"Why when it's the truth!" Annabeth said getting up from her seat.
"At least both my parents are still alive and one of them is trying her hardest to be a better Mom to Jada and I!" Zella said getting up from her seat too.
"Don't bring my Dad into this, it wasn't his fault that he died!" Annabeth's yell turned into a sob.
"Well you started it!" Zella yelled while tears were falling from her eyes too.
During the fight the girls hadn't realized that the bus had stopped and now the bus driver was letting some cops onto the bus.
"Excuse me, but could you three come with us." The cop spoke.
"Whatever!" Annabeth sighed pulling Hayden from Jada's arms as the other cop took care of Zella and Jada.
-Shattered-
"We called your guardians." The cop said sitting cross from the group of girls.
"Why are we here?" Annabeth asked disregarding the cop's statement.
"Zella and yourself scared some other passengers, we were called into make sure no one got hurt." The cop answered.
"Nichols, Agent Lisbon from the CBI is here. Are we in a joint operation that I wasn't aware of." The secretary said popping her head into his office.
"No, just send her in." Nichols said folding his hands on top of his desk.
"Alright." The secretary smiled as she shut the door and returned a new moments later with Teresa and Patrick.
"I wasn't expecting to see Patrick Jane here today." Nichols smiled a fake smile as he pointed to the seats that were next to Annabeth.
"Well, it's been awhile. I assumed that you missed me." Patrick smirked as Teresa kicked his foot under the table.
"Where's Hayden?" Teresa spoke before Nichols could come back with an answer.
"The baby?" Nichols asked.
"Yes." Teresa said annoyed.
"Melissa, my secretary, is watching her I thought that the baby would be to distracting from the situation at hand." Nichols spoke.
"That's not up to you." Teresa sighed getting up from her seat and leaving the room.
"Sorry, she's not in a very good mood, we were about to go out and conduct an operation when she got the call her niece was at SacPD." Patrick said nudging Annabeth.
"Stop it!" Annabeth yelled pushing Patrick away.
"What the hell did you do?" Teresa asked as she walked into the room with Hayden.
"I was just.." Patrick began when two people who looked like they had just been out all night clubbing came stumbling into the office.
"You must be Aaron and Michelle." Nichols said quickly standing up.
"What the hell did these two asses do this time?" Aaron said taking a seat next to Teresa, who had just sat down.
"Well it seamed that Annabeth and Zella had got into a pretty heated argument." Nichols began.
"Is that so." Aaron chuckled as he looked at Teresa who was sitting uncomfortably next to him. "So how does this little hottie come into the story?" Aaron smirked as he lowered his hand and squeezed Teresa's thigh.
"What the hell!" Teresa screamed, jumping up from her seat and passing Hayden to Annabeth.
"What Mama doesn't like to be touched?" Aaron asked as he also got up from his seat. Making Patrick and Nichols rise from theirs.
"Don't call me that!" Teresa yelled.
"Huh, Mama doesn't like her nickname. Let's see about that." Aaron smiled as he pushed Teresa up against the wall and kissed her.
Patrick ran toward Aaron pulling the man back and throwing him to the ground. Before Patrick could lay a finger on Aaron, Teresa pulled him back.
"Don't touch him!" Teresa yelled still trying to hold back Patrick, while Aaron got up from the ground.
"He..he kissed you!" Patrick yelled back trying to break free from Teresa's grip on him.
"I know, go and sit down let me handle it." Teresa said getting calmer. Nichols came around from his desk and held onto Aaron who was starting to make an approach back to Teresa.
"No, I won't go and sit down, I finally got you and now I need to protect you!" Patrick yelled his anger rising as he watched Aaron grin as Nichols handcuffed him leading the man out of the room.
"You can't take my husband!" Michelle yelled from her seat next to Jada who had been holding her down.
"Annie we're going!" Teresa said looking at Annabeth and completely ignoring Patrick's comment.
"But what about.." Annabeth began before Teresa went over and pulled the girl up from her seat.
"We're going!" Teresa said again making her way to the door, while holding tightly onto Patrick's hand.
-Shattered-
"I can protect myself!" Teresa yelled at Patrick behind the closed door in her office.
"I know you can, but I can't lose you!" Patrick shot back.
"You're not going to lose me!" Teresa smiled understanding his concern.
"It hurt to see you kissing someone else." Patrick continued.
"I didn't kiss him, he kissed me. I would never want to kiss anyone but you." Teresa smiled wrapping her arms around Patrick and kissing him.
"I love you." Patrick mumbled through the kiss.
"I love you too." Teresa said pulling him closer deepening the kiss.
"Boss, we need to go now!" Cho said barging into Teresa's office.
"Right." Teresa said pushing Patrick away and walking past Cho and into the bullpen were everyone was waiting.
