A/N: First of all, Thanks for all the reviews! Can't say it enough, y'all are the best. I got 50 reviews for the last chapter, and am now way over 300 reviews total. That's never happened before, so thanks! Secondly, sorry I couldn't update sooner, but I had a test yesterday which needed all my attention the past week, and the super bowl is on Sunday, so I'm going crazy waiting for it. On the bright side, I got a 95%! Woot! Anyways, hope you enjoy this chapter.!
Ok, now PLL talk. I don't think my heart functioning properly after last nights episode and the promo for next weeks. I'm going nuts! It's killing me that Ezra is so creepy and pretty much was stated, is board shirts and all his sketchy A shit. It just kills me. I still have an ounce of hope, everything happening, has a very reasonable explanation. My heart can't take him being evil, i mean, I should be happy Ezria is back together, but I'm not. Hopefully we'll get a very valid reason for his evil shenanigans. Anyways, now that im done rambling, Enjoy!
As soon as Ezra heard those words, he felt all around him disappear. He forgot how to breathe, forgot about everything. Everything went blank. He was in absolute shock. Finally his breathing became regular, and slowly, he started coming back to his senses. He took a deep breath, trying to hold back the tears and emotions building up inside of him.
"S-she had cancer?" Ezra asked.
Spencer nodded.
"You're lying." He stated, but he knew she wasn't. "It's not true." He continued.
Spencer cried softly and nodded.
"It is Ezra." Spencer replied. "I couldn't believe it at first either."
"No." Ezra repeated. "She would've told me. She would've told me, we could've done this together."
"She didn't want to tell you at the time."
Ezra still refused to believe it. His Aria couldn't have been sick. But he knew Spencer wouldn't lie about something this big. It was true.
"She's Ok now, r-right?" Ezra asked, finally accepting the harsh truth.
Spencer nodded.
"H-how did this happen? Why didn't she tell me?"
"You need to talk to her."
"All this time," Ezra sighed. "All this time she's been back, she's been trying to tell me."
Spencer nodded.
"You didn't want to listen."
Ezra sighed and paced around the living room. He felt the tears coming again, but he couldn't cry.
"I'm a jerk." Ezra stated. "I'm a huge jerk."
Spencer walked over to him and placed her hands on his shoulder.
"Just talk to her." Spencer encouraged. "You both need to talk."
She gave him a friendly hug before heading out. Ezra still had his head buried in his hands. He just couldn't explain how he was feeling. It was so many different emotions taking over him. He ran up to his room and lost it completely. Pulling the covers off the bed, kicking the mattress off, and knocking off all on his nightstand, he kept going until his room was a complete mess. He had to let his emotions out in some way, but he wasn't sure why he couldn't just let himself cry. He'd already done so several times, but he was too shocked to cry. To shocked to do anything.
But it didn't last too long. Before he knew it, his face was soaked. How could he be so stupid? Why had he been so stubborn and refused to let her explain? He had been so rude. Such a jerk. He felt his anger with himself increase when he remembered the last conversation between the two. He had told her he wished for her death. For the death she had been so close to with her illness. How could he say that to her? It had probably hurt her more than anything hearing those words. Especially coming from him. If only he'd let her explain. Ugh.
Finally, he was able to calm down. He sat down on the mattress, which was now laying in the middle of his bedroom. He had to talk to her. He needed to. He needed so many answers. But the most important one, why she would leave when she could've stayed and had everyone help out. Why did she have to face this alone? He went back downstairs, in search for his cellphone. He couldn't wait any longer. He needed to talk to her right now. He picked up his cell with trembling fingers, as he found her number. The rings on the other end seemed eternal. He was so desperate for an answer. He waited and waited but was met her voicemail all twenty times he called her. He was going insane. This harsh and hurtful truth had really thrown him off. He wasn't sure all he was feeling. He needed to see her soon, that was for sure. So he grabbed his car keys and rushed out.
Aria heard the door opening slowly. She sat up on the couch, rubbing her eyes. She'd fallen asleep and hadn't even heard the knocking.
"Spence. Is something wrong?" Aria asked, noticing her a bit unsettled.
Spencer played with her fingers as she took a seat next to her.
"Spence?"
"You might hate me for this." Spencer mumbled. "But I had to."
Aria furrowed her eyebrows.
"I told Ezra about your Cancer."
"Y-you did?"
"I had to. I couldn't let him keep hurting you. If he wouldn't listen to you, he had to listen to someone."
Aria turned away from her. She wasn't mad. Not at all. But she didn't know how to react.
"Are you mad?" Spencer asked.
Aria looked back at her and shook her head.
"Of course not."
"Well, at least now you guys can talk."
Aria shook her head immediately.
"No. This doesn't change anything."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm not talking to him. He didn't want to listen to me, and now that he knows, he wants to talk. It isn't fair. He should've given me the chance to explain then."
"Aria-"
"No Spence. I'm glad he knows the truth now, glad that he doesn't think I'm a terrible person, but his words hurt me. The fact that he never let me explain hurts me too. I just don't want to talk to him."
"You guys can fix things by talking."
"There's nothing to fix anymore. I gave up on him long ago."
"Aria please, he still loves you."
"He doesn't. You don't wish a death on someone you love."
"He was angry and hurt. He didn't mean it"
"He did. And I won't talk to him."
Spencer was about to protest, when a knock on the door interrupted. Aria sighed as she made her way to the door. Who could possible be at her apartment right now? She looked through the peep hole and jumped back when she saw who it was. The knocking continued.
"Aria? Who is it?"
"It's Ezra." She simply replied.
"Just talk to him."
But Aria still refused. She'd ignored his calls twenty times, she could easily ignore this too.
"Aria, I know you're in there. Can we please talk?" Ezra softly called from the other side of the door.
He was met with silence.
"Aria, come on. Just let him in. Talk to him." Spencer whispered.
"No." Aria whispered back.
"Aria." Ezra sighed in defeat, leaning against the door. "I'm sorry. So sorry for all I said. Please, can we talk. We need to talk."
"Go away Ezra!" Aria finally spoke up. "Like you said so many times before, there's nothing to talk about. Just go."
Hearing her say that, just made his heart ache more. He'd said the exact same to her, hurting her with his cruel words, and now he couldn't apologize.
"Pl-" But he was cut off.
"Go! now!" Aria replied. "I mean it. Now leave."
Ezra was about to protest, but figured it would be no use. He needed to give her time. Why hadn't he just listened to her when she was more than willing to speak to him? Why had he been such a jerk?
"I'm sorry." He repeated as he lifted his head from the door.
"I love you." He whispered to himself, before slowly walking away
He would come back. He needed too. There were so many unanswered questions he still had. So so many. He just really needed to talk to her. To apologize. He just hoped she would let him.
Aria looked up from her spot on the couch feeling Spencer's eyes on her.
"What?" Aria snapped.
"You know what. Just weeks ago you were begging him to let you explain, and now that he's wanting that, you won't let him talk to you?"
"Well weeks ago he didn't wish I was dead." Aria stated recalling the night.
"You don't understand how much it hurt." Aria cried. "It ripped my heart out. So why should I listen now?" Aria questioned. "I mean, it's only because you told him about my illness that he wants to listen now, otherwise he'd still be shutting me out and you know that."
"Aria, I understand. He was a jerk, but you should've seen the pain and hurt in his eyes when I told him. He was devastated. He still loves you and I could most definitely tell he regretted and completely forgot about everything when I told him."
"But he still hurt me." Aria whimpered. "How can I erase and forget those painful words?"
"He didn't mean them, Aria. He was hurt because he thought you hurt him and made him suffer. He wanted you to feel the same. He told me that."
"Well it sure worked. I can't seem to heal this wound no matter what. He wished I was dead, Spencer. You know how close I was to being dead?" Aria shook her head. "It will just hurt too much to talk to him after all he said."
"He didn't know, Aria. He truly regrets it. I'm not taking sides, but you should give him a chance. Talk to him. Don't you think he deserves answers? The same ones you gave me."
"You were forgiving. You helped me out even before you knew the whole story. You listened to me. Gave me another chance. He didn't do that."
"I know, I know." Spencer sighed. "I just hate seeing you both suffer."
"Well, suffer is my middle name now. I've suffered enough already, I can deal with it."
"Aria, please." Spencer begged. "Just think about it, don't you want everything to be fixed?"
"I don't know." Aria confessed. "I don't know if it ever can be fixed. But whatever, my priority right now is Olivia. I'll deal with Ezra later. I already shut her out all this week, she needs me, and quite honestly, I need her too. She brightens up my days and that's what I need."
"Aria pleas-"
"Just don't talk about him anymore. And if you don't mind, I'm gonna need your help. I don't want to be anywhere near him, so can I count on you to pick up and drop off Olivia for me?"
Spencer shook her head and sighed.
"Only because I love you." She replied. "But I still think you two should talk."
"Thanks." Aria replied, completely ignoring the second part of her response.
"Ok. Well I'm gonna head out now. Goodnight."
"Goodnight." Aria smiled. "Thanks."
"Time to go to bed sweetie." Ezra announced, looking up from his book.
"Ok Daddy."
Ezra turned out all the lights and locked up before following Olivia upstairs. Once he tucked her in, he gave her forehead a sweet kiss.
"I love you Olivia. Goodnight."
"Night." Olivia smiled, snuggling under the covers. Ezra smiled, but as he was turning out the lights, Olivia called him back.
"Daddy?"
"Yes baby?" Ezra turned the light back on and sat beside her.
"I saw Mommy today."
"Really? Did Grandma Ella take you there?"
Olivia shook her head.
"Auntie Spencer did."
Of course. Ezra hadn't allowed Spencer to directly see Olivia these past weeks, and she was sure Spencer would do anything to see her.
"Really."
"Yeah." Olivia nodded. "Daddy, I felt so sad when I saw Mommy."
"Why Livey?"
"She said she was sick and when I went into her room, I could hear her crying a lot Daddy. Why was she crying?"
Ezra sighed, knowing he'd been the one to cause her that pain.
"I don't know sweetie."
Olivia closed her eyes and snuggled once again. But within seconds, opened them again.
"Daddy?"
"What is it Livey?"
"Will Mommy ever come live with us? So we can be like all the Mommy, Daddy's and daughters who live together?"
Ezra sighed, trying to hold back the tears. He ran his hands through his hair.
"I sure hope so Livs." Ezra said before kissing her cheek. "Now close those beautiful eyes and get some rest."
Olivia did as told, and Ezra headed into his own bedroom. Thinking about what his daughter had told him, he stared at his bed, and suddenly pictured Aria lying there, book in her hands, smiling up at him and waiting for him to snuggle next to her. He really missed that. He really did hope him and Aria could eventually go back to how they used to be. He was sure they could, but they were both hurt and confused right now. He would insist she would finally let him apologize. He wouldn't give up. He wouldn't let her go again.
