Chapter 13: Dial On! Roar, Morphtronic Deck!
A sparkling swimming pool surrounded by a lush garden.
In the plush apartment to which this patio belongs, Yusei's D-Wheel is parked in a corner and the blinds are closed. The two turquoise-haired young twins, who found Yusei and Sakura, are conversing as they watch the former sleep on the couch, anxiously. "What's that on his cheek?" Asks Luca. "It's a marker. You don't know what it is? Security puts that on everyone they catch." "So, this person is a bad guy?" Luca asks. "Didn't the card spirits say that he's fine?" "Yeah." Says Luca. She rests her hand on top of the dueling deck sitting on the coffee table. "He's taken very good care of these cards. So, he's fine… I think…" Luca says. "I see. Then that's good enough!"
Yusei's starting to open his eyes, he looks up at the ceiling, then over at the twins. Yusei then sits up. "Who are you?" Asks Yusei, startled. "Don't you remember? You passed out downstairs last night. I'm Lua. This is my younger sister Luca. We're twins." Lua's turquoise hair is pulled into a single, high ponytail, with two shoulder-length bangs on both sides of his face. Lua's outfit consists of a short-sleeved, white jacket, over a sleeveless, dark blue shirt, with golden markings. Lua also wears white shorts, with a dark blue belt and blue sneakers of the same color. Lua also has a bracelet on each wrist. Lua's height appears to be 4'9" and his weight seems to be 77lbs. Luca's turquoise hair is done up in two high ponytails on either side of her head, with two shoulder-length bangs on both sides of her face. Luca's outfit is similar to Lua's. Luca's outfit consists of a light pink, short-sleeved jacket, over a long-sleeved, red shirt, with golden markings that are different from Lua's markings. Luca also wears light purple shorts, with a red belt and sneakers, with black and pink markings, and high socks. Luca's height appears to be the same as Lua's, 4'9", and her weight seems to be reminiscent to her twin, too, 77lbs. Both Lua and Luca have gray-gold eyes and they're eleven. Yusei reaches over and grabs his deck from the table. Luca gasps, slightly. "Uh, what's your name?" Lua asks. "Yusei." Yusei then stands up and looks around Lua and Luca's apartment. The decor is plain, understated, but fancy. There's a staircase leading to the rest of the split-level dwelling. "Where am I?" Asks Yusei. "Our place!" Lua says, as he waves his hand. The curtains behind them open, revealing the lush and beautiful courtyard. "This area is called the Tops, which is the highest area in Neo Domino City." Says Lua. "So, it was the Tops…" Yusei says.
At the entrance to the Tops, down on the street. "Why can't you do anything?" Asks Ushio. "I didn't say I can't do anything. Once again, if City and Satellite investigators want to search the Tops residential area, you must follow official procedures and receive permission." Ushio's becoming increasingly frustrated, not that he was calm to begin with. "C'mon! There's a chance that a garbage from Satellite sneaked in there!" Ushio says. "Like I said, in order to conduct an investigation, there are procedures to follow…" "Gah! I've had enough!" Says Ushio.
"How'd it go?" "I can't believe that I was treated as garbage." Ushio says. The officer in the car seems kind of amused. "Well, even among Security, they feel that they're special…" Ushio pounds the roof of the car with a fist. "The people from Tops always got on my nerves! They're so difficult to work with." Says Ushio. "What should we do?" "There's no doubt that he went in there. All we can do is wait and watch." Ushio says.
Back in the twins' apartment. "Yusei, you're a duelist, right?" Asks Lua. Yusei has put on his jacket, gloves, boots and the device on his arm that connects to his D-Wheel's built-in duel disk. Luca is watching from the arm of the couch. "I also duel. Will you duel me? I always have to duel against Luca, so it's boring." Lua says. "How rude. You're weak too, Lua." Says Luca. "I'm going to start getting more powerful! Yusei, are you powerful?" Lua asks. Yusei looks around and his eyes fall on a poster of Jack, he gasps. Beneath the poster is also a model of Jack, his D-Wheel and one of Red Dragon Archfiend. "Huh? Oh, that's my treasure. They're the King's merchandise. It's my dream to someday become the King. I also want to do Riding Duels!" Says Lua. "You can do that even if you're not the King." Luca says. "Luca, be quiet for a moment! Do you like the King, Yusei?" Asks Lua. Yusei looks away from him. "I'm not interested in him." Yusei says. "Oh. Fine. But, you do Riding Duels. What a waste." Says Lua. "How do you know that?" Yusei asks. "Um, because that's a D-Wheel, right?" Asks Lua. He points towards it. "Huh?" Yusei asks. He walks over to his D-Wheel and looks at it.
"If you're a D-Wheeler, aren't you supposed to admire the King?" Asks Lua.
Yusei puts a hand on the D-Wheel.
"He's not listening to you, Lua." Luca says, sarcastically.
"Even though you and numerous other people admire Jack, which is absolutely fine. There are many that do not." Says Sakura.
Lua and Luca look near the stairs.
Yusei brings his attention towards there, too.
"Sakura, what are you doing up?" Luca asks.
"I have been up for some time. It is hard to sleep with you two bickering all the time." Says Sakura. She reaches the bottom of the stairs. Grim follows after her and comes to stand beside her. Sakura has her coat off for once, revealing that she's actually wearing long, black-to-red gradated detached sleeves on both of her arms, that go from her middle fingers to her biceps, ending in silver armbands.
Lua and Luca then look down at the ground and look very put out for being scolded.
"Sakura." Yusei says.
"Yusei. I see you already met Lua and Luca." Says Sakura.
"Wait, you know these two?" Yusei asks.
"Yes." Says Sakura, subtly.
Lua runs up to her, stopping in front of her. "Sakura, do you two know each other?" Lua asks. "Yes. He and I are no different from you and Luca." Says Sakura. "Oh, come on, Sakura. Give up the mystery girl routine already and tell us how you two know each other." Lua says. He accidentally pulls on Sakura's bad arm, causing her to react to it. Lua lets go after that. "Oh, I-I'm s-sorry. I forgot about your arm." Says Lua.
Yusei walks over to Sakura and suddenly reaches for that arm. Yusei then quickly pulls his hand away. "You mind if I take a look?" Yusei asks. Sakura lifts her arm up, he then places both of his hands near the wound. One hand under Sakura's arm, the other near the wound as Yusei examines it.
"In that case… " Says Lua. He runs over and grabs an envelope off of the Jack shrine and brings it to Yusei. "Yusei, look at this! You might be able to duel the King!" Lua says. He takes an invitation out of the envelope and hands it to Yusei. "Ta-daa!" Says Lua. Yusei takes his hands away from Sakura's arm to look the invitation over. "Duel of Fortune Cup?" Yusei asks. "Yeah! Kaiba Corporation randomly selected people to participate in a tournament! And they chose Luca! The winning duelist gets to duel the King!" Says Lua.
"I don't feel like entering." Luca says.
"Rrgh. Hear that? Luca is always like this. That's why I'm going to pretend to be Luca and enter." Says Lua.
"It's impossible for Lua to impersonate me." Luca says.
Lua runs over to her.
"Ugh, it's not impossible! We have the same face!" Says Lua.
Yusei watches them bicker, calmly, looks at the invitation, then back at them.
"Same face? Which part?" Luca asks. "We're twins!" Says Lua. "We're not the same." Luca says. "Of course not because I'm a boy and you're a girl, but… Let me handle it." Says Lua. "Lua, you're too happy-go-lucky." Luca says. She then leans closer to Lua. "Even regarding him." Says Luca, in an audible whisper, looking at Yusei. "Luca, you don't trust Yusei? He's a duelist that takes care of his cards! I want to help him!" Lua says. "Lua, you're talking too loud." Says Luca. "Huh? Uh..." Lua says.
"Thanks for hiding me. However, you shouldn't get involved with me." Says Yusei. He throws the invitation, it lands right back where it was, beautifully.
"Huh...? Ohh, you're leaving?" Lua asks.
Yusei presses a button and the door next to it slides open. "I shouldn't bother you. I don't know how you two know Sakura, but I'm not exactly someone you should get involved with." Says Yusei. He then looks over at Sakura. "You understand, don't you?" Yusei asks.
Sakura sighs, slightly, and then nods, subtly. "I shall see you out." Says Sakura. She walks over to Yusei, with Grim following closely at her heels.
"But, you're not bothering us! Oh yeah!" Lua says. He runs over, rummages in the closet and puts his duel disk on. Lua then runs back over to Yusei, Sakura and Grim. "Yusei, duel me! If you're a duelist, you have to accept challenges!" Says Lua.
"Lua, aren't you the one who's bothering him?" Luca asks.
"But, Yusei is probably strong! I want to duel against strong people! Let's do it, Yusei! I want to duel against different people to increase my dueling skills! C'mon, let's do it! Let's do it!" Says Lua. His duel disk slips down around his bicep. "Stay on! That was embarrassing." Lua says.
Yusei has a vision, he reminds him of Rally. "I'll fix it right away. Just wait a second." Says Rally, in a vision.
Yusei starts to smile. "He's similar to Rally." Yusei thinks to himself. "I understand. Let's do it." Yusei says. "Hooray!" Says Lua. Yusei pushes a button on his D-Wheel to grab his own duel disk. "Moment out." The computer says. "So, that's how it works! Awesome!" Says Lua, excitedly. His duel disk slips sideways. "Hunhh...?" Lua asks, sighing.
"Just let me help Sakura with her arm and we'll get this duel underway." Says Yusei. He then takes Sakura's arm into his hold, seeing how much the tendon in the bicep is torn.
Outside on the patio, Yusei finishes with Sakura's arm, that's now bandaged all around the tear in her bicep. Sakura readjusts her detached sleeve, that she had rolled down so Yusei could work on her arm, and slips her armband back on. Sakura then regains her long, black tailcoat and puts it back on.
Lua's still struggling with his duel disk. Yusei kneels down to work on the duel disk. "Is there anyone else here?" Yusei asks. "It's just us on this floor." Says Lua. "This is the very top of the hotel." Luca says. She starts walking towards a bench.
Sakura follows after Luca, with Grim walking alongside her.
"It's just been the two of us since a long time ago. Our parents are away for work, and they only come back occasionally. It's a comfortable life." Says Luca.
"Sakura's actually in charge of us, but she's always really busy at work. So it can be days, weeks, sometimes even months until she comes by and checks in on us. But, she always tries to make an attempt to contact us and make sure we're okay and doing what we're supposed to be doing. We can do our homework on the internet, so we rarely go outside." Lua says. "I see. So, that's how you two know Sakura. She's your caretaker." Says Yusei. He has finished tying down Lua's duel disk with a thin strip of cloth. "All right. Now it's fine." Yusei says. Lua waves his arm, experimentally. "You're right! Thanks, Yusei!" Says Lua. "Don't worry about it. Let's start. You can have the first turn." Yusei says. "Yeah!" Says Lua, shouting.
Luca and Sakura are watching from a bench. Grim lies down at Sakura's feet and rests. "Ugh..." Luca says, sighing.
"My deck is pretty incredible." Says Lua.
"Start anytime you like." Yusei says.
"Here I go!" Says Lua.
"Duel!" Both Lua and Yusei say. Both duelists start with 4000 life points.
"My turn! I draw!" Says Lua. He looks at the card he drew. "I already got it! I summon Morphtronic Celfon! In attack position!" Lua says.
The ground glows and a big cell phone appears, its buttons lighting up. It unfolds into a robot. Morphtronic Celfon has 100 attack points and is a Level 1 monster.
"It's so cool! The monster effects of Morphtronic monsters change depending on whether they're in attack or defense position. When Celfon is in attack position, it dials a number between one and six, and I flip over that many cards. If that card is a Level four-or-below Morphtronic monster, then I can Special Summon it. Here I go! Dial…" Says Lua. He tilts to the side a bit, his duel disk makes his left side far heavier than his right.
Luca sighs.
"What's wrong?" Yusei asks.
"It's a bit heavy." Says Lua.
"Lua's duels are loud." Luca says, addressing Yusei.
"Luca, stop saying unnecessary things. It's a crucial moment right now! Dial on!" Says Lua. The number pad on Celfon's chest flashes, randomly picking a button 1-6. "It stopped on three! I flip over three cards!" Lua says. He squints, just barely looking at the cards he drew. "All right! The card I flipped over is Level three! I Special Summon Morphtronic Magnen! In attack position!" Says Lua. Morphtronic Magnen is a magnet that folds out to become a robot. Morphtronic Magnen has 800 attack points and is a Level 3 monster.
"I set one card and end my turn! How are my monsters? Aren't they cool?" Lua asks.
"He's more excited than usual." Says Luca.
"It's my turn." Yusei says. He draws. "I summon Speed Warrior." Says Yusei.
Speed Warrior has 900 attack points and is a Level 2 monster. "On the turn that Speed Warrior is summoned, its attack points are doubled." Yusei says.
"Doubled?" Asks Leo.
"Battle." Yusei says. Speed Warrior's attack point total rises to 1800.
"I was waiting for that! I activate the trap card 'Morphtransition'!" Says Lua.
"Sonic Edge!" Yusei says.
Speed Warrior stops short, as Magnen leaps into action. Morphtronic Magnen changes to defense position.
"How's that? With this trap, the Morphtronic monster that was attacked changes battle position, and the battle is negated!" Says Lua.
"That's an interesting trap you're using." Yusei says.
"Right? I wanted to show you that it transforms!" Says Lua.
"It's too early to get cocky." Luca says. "I agree." Says Sakura.
"Well, watch!" Lua says. He then turns to Yusei. "Yusei, are you ending your turn?" Asks Lua.
"Yes." Yusei says.
"All right! My turn. I draw! Aah!" Says Lua. His duel disk tips him to the side again.
"That's what you get for showing off." Luca says.
"Be quiet. From my hand, I summon my second Morphtronic Magnen! This time in defense position!" Says Lua.
Morphtronic Magnen has 800 defense points and is a Level 3 monster.
"Huh?" Yusei asks.
The two Magnens turn toward each other and start to shoot electricity in between, creating a wall. "Isn't it impressive? When Magnen is in defense position, you're not allowed to attack any monster except Magnen. However, there are two Magnens on my field! That means…" Says Lua.
Yusei smiles.
"He's talking more than usual today." Luca says.
Meanwhile, down on the streets, Ushio and his goons pin down every exit to the Tops. "You guys guard the west gate. Don't let that punk escape." Says Ushio. "Right."
Saiga peeks out from behind a building nearby. "Security is covering every area. What will you do, Yusei?" Saiga thinks to himself.
"Listen carefully. If you try to attack the first Magnen, then the second Magnen will try to take the attack. And if you try to attack the second Magnen, then the first one will try to take the attack. In other words, it means that you can't attack, Yusei! This is Magnelock, the impenetrable defense formation!" Lua says.
"So, things are going perfectly." Says Luca. Grim yawns.
"I'm going to use Celfon's monster effect! Dial on! A two appeared! The second card is another Level four-or-below Morphtronic monster. I Special Summon Morphtronic Datatron in attack position!" Lua says.
Morphtronic Datatron has 1200 attack points and is a Level 3 monster.
"I'm only getting started! From my hand, I activate the Continuous Spell 'Gadget Box'! With this card, I can Special Summon one Gadget Token once per turn! Here I go! I Special Summon Gadget Token!" Says Lua.
Gadget Token has 0 attack points and is a Level 2 monster.
"He brought out a support part with zero attack and defense points." Luca says.
"I've gathered all the parts! Here comes Datatron's monster effect! By releasing one monster on the field, Dataron deals six-hundred points of damage. I release Gadget Token! Here I go! Chakan Fire!" Says Lua.
Yusei's life points fall to 3400. "Gadget Token's purpose was for this monster." Yusei says.
"I did it! The combo worked! I'm still unhurt! It feels really good! Isn't this incredible? I call it my special Morphtronic Deck!" Says Lua.
"Whatever you say, but isn't it the end of your turn?" Luca asks.
"Oh yeah. End, end, end. You're up, Yusei!" Says Lua.
Yusei's frowning, quietly, and then has a small smile. "Hm." Yusei says.
In a skyscraper somewhere in Neo Domino with a propeller on top... "What is the progress on the Fortune Cup?" Asks Godwin. "The invitations were sent without delay. Only one remains. Hnhnhnhnhn…" Jaeger says. "For the boy from Satellite?" Asks Godwin. "That's correct. He retrieved his D-Wheel and deck from the vault, and he's currently hiding in the Tops." Jaeger says. "How about the marker signal?" Asks Godwin. "There's no error. He thinks that he disabled it, but it was amateurish work." Jaeger says. Godwin looks away, he's angry. "She's with him, I take it?" Asks Godwin. "Our precious puppet. Yes, she helped him escape the vault, and she's currently with him in the Tops." Jaeger says. "As I suspected, she's regained another portion of her memories just by encountering him again for the first time in two years." Says Godwin. "Do you ever think that we may have gone a little too far with her?" Jaeger asks. "Hm. I know what we did with her was rather drastic. However, as much as I wish we could have done things differently, she forced our hands to take such drastic measures. All those experiments and tests on her were done to prepare her and her body for what fate has in store for her. Speaking of which, did you receive her latest results?" Asks Godwin. "Yes." Jaeger says. He holds up a file. "You may not like what you see." Says Jaeger. He hands it over to Godwin, almost reluctantly. Godwin takes it and opens it, looking through it.
Back at the Tops... "It's my turn." Yusei says. He draws. "I send one card in my hand to the graveyard to activate the spell card 'Card Rotator'." Says Yusei.
"What?" Lua asks.
"This card changes the battle position of all the monsters on your field." Says Yusei.
"All?" Lua asks.
The card zaps all of his monsters and all of them transform to the opposite mode. Both of Lua's Morphtronic Magnen's have been switched to attack position and have 800 attack points. Morphtronic Celfon has been changed to defense position and has 600 defense points. And Morphtronic Datatron has been switched to defense position and has 600 defense points. "Uh… After all the work I did to assemble my Morphtronic army! Now their monster effects will change!" Says Lua.
"Ugh! Hold it together, Lua! The duel isn't over yet!" Luca says.
"But!" Says Lua.
"Furthermore… " Yusei says.
"Huh?" Asks Lua.
"I summon the Tuner Monster Junk Synchron!" Yusei says.
Junk Synchron has 1300 attack points and is a Level 3 monster.
"Ah! The counterattack is going to begin." Says Lua.
"With Junk Synchron's monster effect, I can Special Summon a Level two-or-below monster from my graveyard in defense position. I Special Summon Nitro Synchron in defense position." Yusei says.
Nitro Synchron has 100 defense points and is a Level 2 monster.
"That means, you're going to Synchro Summon a Level seven monster?" Asks Lua.
"That's not possible." Luca says.
"Why? Level three, Level two, Level two… If you add them together, he can summon a Level seven Synchro Monster!" Says Lua.
"In order to Synchro Summon, I can only use one Tuner." Yusei says.
"Huh?" Asks Lua.
"Junk Synchron and Nitro Synchron are both Tuner Monsters." Sakura says.
"Here I go. Junk Synchron tunes Level two Speed Warrior." Says Yusei.
Junk Warrior has 2300 attack points and is Level 5 monster.
"It's cool…" Lua says.
"Next, Level two Nitro Synchron tunes Level five Junk Warrior. Our thoughts combine to call forth a new power! Become the path that light the way! Synchro Summon! Burn up, Nitro Warrior!" Says Yusei.
Nitro Warrior has 2800 attack points and is a Level 7 monster.
"This makes me excited! Two Synchro Summons in a row! Awesome!" Lua says.
"Here I go! Battle! Nitro Warrior, attack Magnen." Says Yusei.
Lua's life points go down to 2000. "Magnen!" Lua says.
"Next is Nitro Warrior's monster effect. When it destroys a monster in battle, it can switch one monster in defense position to attack position and battle against that monster." Says Yusei.
"Aah..." Lua says.
"Celfon switches from defense position to attack position. Dynamite Impact!" Says Yusei.
"No way!" Lua says.
"Nitro Warrior, attack Celfon. Dynamite Knuckle!" Says Yusei.
"Aaaaaaaaaggggh...!" Lua loses the rest of his life points, the duel's over.
"Huh?" Luca asks. She walks over to Lua, who is whimpering and trying really hard not to cry. "You always cry." Says Luca. Lua wipes his eyes. "I'm not crying!" Lua says.
Yusei joins them and Sakura stands at his side, with Grim standing between the two. "Your love of dueling has touched me. However, your dueling is a bit too self-centered. Weren't you satisfied when you gathered the four Morphtronic monsters?" Asks Yusei. "Huh?" Lua asks. "Morphtronic monsters changes their monster effects depending on the situation. However, you're also able to change that sitaution during a duel. If you can't anticipate my counterattacks and keep dueling in self-centered manner, the road to becoming King will remain far away." Says Yusei. "Hm." Luca says. She puts a hand on Lua's shoulder. "Well, cheer up." Says Luca. "Yusei… Will you duel me again?" Lua asks. "In time. Thanks for your hospitality." Says Yusei. "You can't leave!" Lua says. Yusei points at his cheek. "Look at this marker. If I stay with you, I'll cause you trouble." Says Yusei. "Why? I want to help you." Lua says. "There he goes again. Lua always wants to help people." Says Luca. "But…" Lua says. "But, shouldn't you at least rest for today?" Asks Luca. "Ah!" Lua says.
Day turns to night. Ushio yawns. "Hurry up and come out, you punk." Ushio thinks to himself. Interior of the twins' apartment. Luca is sleeping, curled up with a teddy bear, wearing pink pajamas and a pink nightcap. Luca sleeps with her hair out of the pigtails, which brings her hair down to shoulder-length.
Lua's sprawled in all directions, his blanket thrown off. Lua's wearing light blue pajamas, with his hair out of the ponytail, too, his hair length is the same as Luca's, shoulder-length.
Yusei's working at the coffee table, quietly, leaving the twins' duel disks on the table.
Yusei then walks over to Sakura, half-asleep on the couch, only she isn't looking to well. Grim's lying down in front of the couch, who at first is asleep and then wakes up as Yusei approaches. Grim lifts up his head, as Yusei kneels down on one knee and touches one of Sakura's shoulders.
Sakura's eyes are open, but they don't look up at him. "Are you okay, Sakura?" Asks Yusei. He removes one of his gloves and places his hand on Sakura's forehead. "Your head's feeling warm." Yusei says. He then takes his hand away from her forehead and places his glove back on. Yusei stands back up to his feet. "You've got a slight fever." Says Yusei. "Yusei…" Sakura says, softy. "Hm?" Asks Yusei. "Can you… get me out of here. I shouldn't be around Lua and Luca right now." Sakura says. "Okay." Says Yusei. He helps Sakura sit up and then to her feet, only she isn't staying up very well. Yusei has her lean on him a bit, as he holds onto her to keep her standing on her feet. "Sakura." Yusei says, worriedly. He then lifts her up and cradles her in his arms. Yusei doesn't mind, considering Sakura's his sister. Grim gets up and follows after Yusei. They then leave, quietly.
Yusei and his D-Wheel take the elevator down from the 48th floor. He inches his D-Wheel out of the elevator, already astride it, as the elevator door closes. Yusei looks in each direction, pulls down the side bar, on which he rests his left arm and lowers his visor. The screen boots up and some hydraulics kick in to raise the seat and ready the D-Wheel for motion. Yusei pivots and shoots away down the empty alleyway.
Out in the well-lit Neo Domino night, Yusei's riding along when his way is blocked by Ushio on his D-Wheel. Ushio blocks Yusei's way, going into a sideways skid. "I was waiting for you, punk!" Says Ushio.
Both of them stop, but Yusei knows Sakura's in no condition for something like this right now.
Saiga's watching from behind a corner. "He got to him before me." Saiga thinks to himself.
"Now, why don't you give up!" Ushio says.
Yusei doesn't say anything, just revs his engine and begins to turn away.
Ushio follows suit, immediately. "I won't let you escape! What?" Asks Ushio.
"Huh?" Yusei asks.
Before either one can take off, their way is blocked by a car with Security's logo emblazoned on the side. Its headlights blind them, as Jaeger steps out of it and walks toward them.
"That mark!" Saiga thinks to himself.
"Investigator, will you please let the Public Maintenance Department deal with him?" Asks Jaeger.
Sakura knows that voice anywhere and summons the shadows, engulfing herself and Grim within and they're both gone.
"Public Maintenance Department?" Ushio asks.
Jaeger flashes an ID badge. "I'm Jaeger, Head of Special Investigations. Aren't you Ushio? Hahahahaha!"
"Head of Special Investigations?" Asks Ushio.
"I have a message for him from Director Rex Godwin." Jaeger says.
"But, he stole that D-Wheel from the security vault!" Says Ushio.
"Ushio, I don't think you should disobey the director's orders, do you?" Jaeger asks.
"Just as much of a suck-up as ever, Jaeger."
"Huh?" Asks Jaeger. When he looks, 'Sakiko', with 'Onyx' directly at her side, steps out of the shadows of the night.
Yusei seems a little surprised.
"Well, well, if it isn't Sakiko Kuro. I haven't seen you and Onyx around lately, it's been a while. I have a message for you anyway, Director Godwin says that he'll need you and Onyx working during the Duel of Fortune Cup." Jaeger says.
Onyx growls at him, only for Sakiko to give him a small pat on the head. "For what, to be a bodyguard and guard dog for Jack?" Asks Sakiko.
"Actually, yes. That's precisely what Godwin wants. But, not only for that. Like the King, a duelist will also have the opportunity to duel you." Jaeger says.
"I see, a challenger for my undefeated streak, is that it?" Asks Sakiko.
"Exactly, Sakiko. You and Jack are both Godwin's most well-known, favored and top duelists of Duel Stadium. The Princess of Darkness and the King of Duelists are both undefeated, and a chance for any duelist to break either one of those streaks is a tremendous feat. You and Jack can decide amongst yourselves of the two finalists to go up against you for a chance to break your undefeated streak and who'll go up against Jack for a chance to break his undefeated streak and the chance for his championship." Jaeger says.
"Very well." Says Sakiko.
"What does the director want with me?" Yusei asks.
"This." Says Jaeger. He hands Yusei an envelope and a photo. Yusei gasps when he sees what he holds in his hand, the picture is of Nerve, Taka, Rally and Blitz. "Please, participate in the Duel of Fortune Cup. If you don't, the four people in the photo will suffer pain that you can't even imagine. Okay? Hmhmhmhmhmhm…" Jaeger says.
Yusei sits there stunned, the envelope in one hand and the photo in the other, as the receding car headlights leave him in darkness. Yusei clenches the envelope in a fist, the retreating car reflected in his visor.
Above, the moon is full.
The shadows then recover Sakiko and Onyx, and then they're both back to being Sakura and Grim. "Yusei…" Says Sakura, weakly. She suddenly collapses to her knees and then into Saiga's arms, who brings her to the ground, gently.
Yusei then gets off his D-Wheel and runs over to Sakura, falling to his knees when he reaches her, Saiga and Grim. "Sakura." Yusei says, worriedly.
