...
'No. No. No no no, oh, and did I mention no?' Clary fumed, arms crossed over her chest.
'Clary. Its just a shopping trip' Isabelle said calmly.
'I have plenty of dresses to wear to prom.' She huffed
Isabelle smiled sadly at her. 'Oh Clary. Clary Clary Clary. I pity you.'
Clary raised an eyebrow. 'You pity me?'
Isabelle opened her mouth to elaborate on the matter, when Charlotte walked in.
'Nathan just rung me. He is coming up for prom. And I need a dress, ASAP.'
Isabelle clapped her hands together and grinned at Clary, who was getting sadder by the second.
'Its settled then! We, are going shopping.'
...
'Clary! Cheer up! We only just got here!' Isabelle rejoiced, practically jumping up and down
'That's the problem Isabelle. We aren't even close to leaving this God forsaken place.' Clary grumbled.
'Clary. Its not that bad. We just have to look in all 300 shops and then we can leave!'
Clary stared at Isabelle in horror.
'Chill, Clary. I'm kidding. A solid 50 of those aren't clothes stores.'
She groaned, crossing her arms over her chest and stomping loudly behind Isabelle, talking the image of a angry 5 year old.
Isabelle took a sharp turn left into a shop, and Charlotte and Clary followed behind her.
'Does it have to be a long dress?' Isabelle asked Charlotte, who nodded back
'Yep. School Policies.' She replied, her eyes scanning the store
Clary picked up the first dress she saw, which was yellow . 'Found one. Lets go.'
As she turned to leave, Isabelle grabbed the hood of her jacket and pulled her back. 'Not so fast. Yellow isn't even your color anyway.'
Sighing, and knowing she wasn't going to be leaving the shopping center anytime soon, she put the dress back on the rack.
'Give me five minutes and Ill find you a dress Clary' Isabelle told her.
Rolling her eyes, Clary sat down, and watched Isabelle and Charlotte work their way round the shop
In exactly five minutes, Isabelle was back, and she held up four dresses to Clary.
'Thanks Iz, Ill take the blue one.'
Isabelle shoved the dress onto Clary's lap. 'No. Go try them on.'
Clary groaned, but got up and headed towards the dressing room.
She emerged two minutes later, still wearing the same clothes.
Both Isabelle and Charlotte raised their eyebrows.
'Isabelle I cant afford these.' Clary said, handing her back the dresses.
'Excuse us for a minute, Charlotte' Isabelle said, taking Clarys arm and pulling out of earshot.
'Clary, you already know Mary-Ann is buying for us, whats the problem?'
'Yeah but you know why she is buying them for us and these dresses wont work!'
Isabelle bit her lip. 'I forgot about that. I know the perfect shop. We will head there, ok?'
Clary nodded.
...
Alec ran his hand along the suits and he walked down an aisle. 'They all look exactly the same'
Magnus turned on him. 'I just got very personally offended by that statement, Alexander.'
Alec grinned at him.
In the aisle over, Jace and Simon were fighting.
'This is my suit I found it first!' Simon said, tugging on the suit jacket in Jace's hand.
Jace struggled against Simon's (although he would never admit it) strong grip. 'Yeah but I get to wear it cause I'm cooler'
Simon rolled his eyes and kept pulling at the jacket, when the store cashier walked over.
'Ah yes. This is a fine item.' The cashier was a man, maybe in his mid-fifties, with a pair of seemingly useless glasses perched on the end of his nose
He seemed to be ignoring the fact the boys were about to tear the jacket in half.
'I think we should let the blonde one have it, shall we?' He placed a hand on Simon's shoulder, who reluctantly let go of the jacket and glared at Jace, who gave him a cocky grin.
The man then led Simon into another aisle and started digging through the suits on the rack.
'Yes Yes. I believe this one will suit your complexion nicely!'
Simon snorted at the pun, and then disguised it as a cough when the man looked at him with disgust.
He held the suit against Simon, who looked vaguely uncomfortable with the situation, until he noticed the tag on the suit.
'Wait, this suit was worn by Robert Downey Jr at the Iron Man premiere?' Simon asked, fangirling slightly.
'I believe so. Much better suit than your friend, hey.' He gave Simon a sly smile.
'Ill go try this on.' Simon said, smiling back
...
After 12 more shops, lots of complaining from Clary, and 112 dresses tried on between Charlotte and Isabelle, they reached the shop Clary and Isabelle needed to buy from.
Isabelle and Charlotte dived straight in, Clary lagging behind.
When Charlotte wandering around, looking at the dresses, Isabelle pulled Clary aside.
'Will they work?' Isabelle asked, looking at the three dresses Clary had picked out.
Clary nodded. 'Yep. They will work perfectly.'
Isabelle smiled. 'Awesome. Go try them on. Ill wait here.'
Clary first emerged in a plain light blue dress, strapless and low cut.
Isabelle wrinkled her nose. 'Next'
Clary rolled her eyes and went back into the change room.
The next dress was dark green, with a split in the bottom to show off leg and a few diamente bits along the top
Isabelle tilted her head to the side. 'Yeah I like it, but its not the best. Whats the last one.
Clary groaned, and headed back into the cubicle, flicking the curtain behind her.
The last dress was a subtle red color. It had a tight fitting bodice that complimented Clary's figure. From the waist down, the dress was layered with jagged fabric, giving it a ruffled look.
Isabelle face lit up in a huge smile. 'That's the one!'
...
Magnus turned, his eyes wide and a grinned on his face.
Alec looked at what he had just seen. 'Hell no.' He crossed his arms over his chest.
Magnus pouted at him. 'Pretty please?'
Alec stared at the suit, completely covered in silver sequins.
'Please pick a normal suit. For once.'
Magnus rolled his eyes, but he was smiling. 'Anything for you, Alexander' He did a mock curtsy, which cause Alec to hit him in the arm.
They made their way to the counter, where Jace was standing, paying for the suit he had fought Simon for.
'Thank you' Jace smiled at the girl behind the counter, who blushed and handed him back the credit card.
Simon walked up to the counter as Jace moved to the side.
He coughed, and the girl behind the counter tore her eyes away from Jace and to Simon.
She took the suit over the counter and started to fold it. 'Nice choice. Robert Downey Jr's suit from the Iron Man Premiere, if I remember correctly?'
Simon nodded, and turned to see the smug smile was gone from Jaces face and replaced with his eyes wide.
'Did you...Did you say Robert Downey Jr..?' He asked, stepping closer to Simon.
'Yep.' Simon responded, popping the P.
Jace took a deep, angry breath as the lady handed Simon his suit back.
'Thank you very much.' Simon smiled, and walked over to Alec and Magnus, a seething Jace following behind.
...
Charlotte sighed and flopped down next to Clary, who was waiting for Isabelle to show her the next dress.
'Whats up?' Clary asked
'I cant find a dress I like.' She crossed her arms
'Well, do you one you already own that you might be able to use?' Clary inquired.
Before Charlotte could reply, her phone rung. She looked at the screen. 'Its Nathan I gotta take this.'
Charlotte walked off, talking quietly into her phone as Isabelle appeared from behind the changing room curtain.
The black dress she had chosen had a dipping V neck line, and straps that hooked against her shoulders to hold it into place. The dress had an open back, and a plain gold belt around the middle.
'Isabelle that looks amazing!' Clary said, stating the obvious, and Isabelle beamed.
Charlotte walked back as Isabelle went back into the change room to put back on her original clothes.
'Good news! Nathan is bringing a dress for me! He saw it and he just thought it would be perfect for me.'
Clary clapped her hands. 'That's awesome! We can finally leave now'
...
'You havent picked up a single suit today, Alexander.' Magnus said, looking at his reflection in the mirror.
Alec was leaning against the wall. 'That would be because I already have a suit, back in New York.'
Magnus looked at Alec in the reflection. 'Do you now?'
'Indeed I do' He grinned. 'I like that one. Buy that one.'
Magnus sighed. 'But-'
'No' Alec cut him off before he could say anymore. 'No sequins.'
Magnus mumbled something about how sequins make everything better and went back to take off the suit.
...
I have learnt two things from this chapter
1. I believe I am better at writing scenes for the guys then for the girls
2. Charlotte is a super boring character.
I honestly needed to give her more depth, but I cant be bother, and its a little too late.
Also, I did a terrible job at describing the dresses, so I will put a link in my bio if you wanna see what I mean!
Anyways, Thanks for reading,Please review, and the next chapter will be better, I promise!
