Robotic arms moved in perfect synchronization as the rectangular tiles on the wall shifted out of the way in such a way that, to Chell, it was like a pale ocean wave. Beyond the newly formed hallway was a square room that consisted of a bed with a window over it, a toilet with a big black button at the top of the tank cover, and a white box that held up a small radio that played the same song on loop.

"It's alright, luv," Wheatley assured the frightened child underneath him, "you'll be safe in here, and your parents will be here soon. Go on inside. She can't get you in here." Chell quietly nodded her head and nervously walked through the hallway and into the tiny room, "I'm gonna fetch 'em for ya. If you get tired, just walk towards the bed." Wheatley rushed off on the management rail, scanning the catwalks in a desperate attempt to find his creators. The panels reversed themselves as Chell entered the tiny room, returning to their original wall formation.

The young girl gasped at the sight of the wall, fell to her hand and knees and began to sob uncontrollably. She was alone in this strange room and had no idea where her parents are. There was no light at the end of her dark tunnel.

The wheels whirled around and around above Wheatley as he glided down the management rail, a frenzied attempt at finding two people amongst the thick green mist.

"Wheatley," a robotic voice calmly spoke to the blue-eyed AI, "you really think you could get away with doing all of this behind my back? You are a moron."

"I am not a…" an electric current rushed towards Wheatley at full speed and electrocuted him "moron…" Wheatley drowsily let go of the rail and fell to the catwalk below. He could feel himself shutting down, but struggled to fight it. It wasn't long before he could barely hear anything around him, including the clanging of something metallic against the catwalks. The light in his eye completely shut off as something picked him up.

"Thank you for assuming the party escort submission position."

Darra and Steve's feet banged on the metal catwalks as dashed through the facility. They both knew they had to find their daughter and escape this place as soon as possible, but with each step they could feel themselves slipping. Steve's knees buckled from underneath him as the darkness began to take over his vision, he couldn't hold his breath any longer, but letting it out would mean breathing in the neurotoxins. His lungs gave out and with a loud thud, Darra's feet froze in place. The Time Lady didn't want to see it, but she knew she had to. Time is precious and, in this instance, she had only seconds to act in order to save her beloved husband. Her quivering hands grabbed hold of the limp Steve and dragged him towards the nearest office.

The woman raced through the hallways of the various offices, clinging to an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. The Portal Device ejected an electrical current that kept a strong grip on a core with purple handles and a purple eye to match. The core merely stared at her in silence as she heaved through the treacherous facility. This was her only chance at stopping the sadistic AI from killing anyone that was still alive in this underground laboratory. She opened a door and stepped through, barely fast enough to avoid a rocket from a turret that dangled from the ceiling. This was it, the last run. One long hallway before she went face-to-face against GLaDOS.

"Hey, you," GLaDOS mocked as the woman entered the chamber, "what are you doing with that thing? I don't think it will do what you think it will. You don't even know what that thing is, so if I were you, I would not approach me with that device," various objects in the room began to lift off the ground, "now, let's see if you have what it takes."

Before the woman could even take five steps toward the villainous AI, a crate slammed against her, causing her to travel through the air with it. Her portal gun lost contact with the purple core and it soon began to fly through the air in an orbit around GLaDOS as well. After a few minutes of watching the woman fly, GLaDOS allowed everything to drop to the ground.

It wasn't time to kill the woman just yet. GLaDOS wanted to watch her struggle to survive for a bit longer before killing her.

The woman quickly shot the nearest wall, creating a blue oval on it. She then proceeded to shoot the wall nearest to the purple core, creating a portal. This was her only chance. Before she had time to evaluate everything, the woman raced through the portal, grabbed the purple core and dashed up the stairs and onto the balcony underneath the furious GLaDOS. She climbed up the wooden steps and attached the purple core to GLaDOS' back, causing the AI to shriek in pain.

"What have you done?" GLaDOS' voice glitched, her voice constantly changing from normal to extremely deep, "are you kidding me? Do you realize what you've just done? Are you totally insane? Did you really think that this would stop me? You are pathetic and you are way too late. Now the only thing left for you to do is to die." The woman gasped as a claw dropped down from the ceiling, grabbed a hold of her and threw her violently against the wall.

"Now die."

The green gas dispersed from the air and it was soon safe to breathe in the facility again. Darra quickly knelt down beside Steve and was about to attempt at helping him breathe when she noticed something. His chest wasn't moving, his body wasn't moving, his eyes were vacant, and his heart wasn't beating. It was too late, he was already dead.

"No," Darra's voice cracked as she shakily clung to his corpse, tears streaming down her face. It felt like the world had just collapsed and time itself stopped. This can't be real, it had to be a dream. As she stared into his lifeless eyes she realized this was very much real.

Steve was no more.

She was too busy sobbing into Steve's chest to hear a familiar sound.

Woosh. Woosh.

A blue police box materialized behind her.
