Just Me
And
I'm Alone
Dresses?! I almost choked on my lemonade. Those things were evil! Not to mention impractical . . . I nearly shuddered. No one could get me into a dress, not even for a split second, to save the universe from complete and total annihilation. Okay, maybe I would. But as I've never been in that situation, I wouldn't know. However, I do know that dresses have no practical purpose unless you count making you look super-girly. I did shudder at that thought.
"OMIGOSH! Are you serious? Really? Oh this is going to be so much fun! I know what everyone is going to wear! That means the guys too. Max will- Mmph!"
My eye twitched. That Nudge could talk. Thankfully, Iggy effectively had shut her up by clapping his hand over her mouth.
Without having to look, I knew that Stone had gone rigid. Neither of us was fond of dresses. More than anything, I wanted to shoot a message at Stone and beg to get out of here. But I couldn't.
With an inward sigh I glanced around. Max, Ella, and Dr. Martinez were like the perfect little family. Then I snuck a quick look at Stone. She would fit right in. In fact, she looked like Max's older sister. She didn't look much like Ella or Dr. Martinez, but then again, Max wasn't exactly a copy of her mom. And at that moment, I felt more alone than ever. The Flock had each other and Stone had Chad. But me? I had nobody.
Angel tugged on my sleeve and I bent over so I could hear. "That's not true! You're not alone," she whispered.
I gave her a small smile. "Thanks Ange," I whispered back.
"Be careful though. Nudge has your entire gala outfit planned out, makeup and all."
Oh dear.
Ella swallowed her cookie and asked, 'Mom, when are we going shopping?"
"Tomorrow morning."
Let me tell you, tomorrow could never come.
