Author's note: Yup, this is chapter fourteen! The end of the Crystal Arch and into the Awakening Arch. The Awakening Arch is the last Arch of this story. I will be working on this more, so stay tuned. I'm sorry I haven't been updating as much, but writer's block, school drama, Scholarship auditions have been in the way. Thanks for sticking with this! Come I beckon to you,
Come I dare you to look in my eyes,
There is beauty in hell,
There is beauty in darkness; I swear to you
"Elecktra!"
Elecktra grunted, the force of Zireria's staff slamming into her own. Tenionia's worried voice echoed in her mind, the spirit's wave length pressing against her own soul. Zireria's evil laugh raised the hairs on the back of her spine. From the corner of her eye, she could see both Jounouchi and Honda using their duel disks to defeat the magicians circled around them.
Marik had drawn his rod out, slashing at his Ma'kaan in places where it would not kill him. Bakura was not so merciful, a sword made from dark energy cut any magician near him as he tried to get towards Amon. The Pharaoh was in a death battle with Ivan, whose oak staff tipped with a jade jewel screeched against the Pharaoh's sword. The necklace around Isis' neck glowed and she used it to maneuver around her opponent's attacks. Imayra and Celcia seemed to be doing fine, the two of them using tag team tactics to cut the number of magicians down.
"Give up, little girl," the Queen laughed. "You're no match for me!"
"Elecktra!"
"What?" she called back, irritation lacing her voice. "I'm kind of busy right now!"
"Let me take over. Zireria is different from any magician you've faced before. If anyone can match her, it's me."
She dodged a blast of magic from the queen's staff, feeling herself being thrown back onto her knees. She inwardly winced, her knees burning as blood came out. "Alright," she said begrudgingly. "But I hope you know what you're doing."
She drew back, allowing Tenionia to take control. Closing her green eyes briefly she opened them to reveal determined violet eyes. Zireria drew back a little, the grin falling off her face. "Well, well, well," she began dryly. "If it isn't my little sister. Ready to offer the crystal up?"
"Never," Tenionia growled. "I won't let you destroy this world!"
"Destroy it? Why would I want to do that?"
Tenionia only stared at her in disbelief, white magic gathering all over her body like an aura. "You've always hated this world, sister. Just because our family was cruel to you doesn't give you the right to decide everyone's fate. Let it go!"
Zireria laughed, though it sounded very inhuman. "I suffered alone for so many years! What makes you think that your little words of encouragement would stop me?"
"Tenionia!" Imayra called out. "Stop trying to reason with her! She's beyond help!"
"Mistress," Elecktra pressed on, appearing at her side. "Maybe Imayra is right. I mean, she doesn't seem human anymore."
"The Shadow realm can do that, Elecktra," she responded, keeping her eyes trained on her sister. "I don't know how long Zireria has been locked away, but the darkness has twisted her mind completely. If I had something to purify her, I would, but I do not."
"What about the Crystal?"
"Absolutely not! The Crystal is far too powerful for someone like me to control. If there is anyone who can control it, it would the original three who created it," she glanced at Imayra and then to Zireria. "And unfortunately, Zireria now has the capability."
Zireria smirked. "How right you are," dark tendrils weaved around her body, looking menacing in the dim light. "So, how about that crystal?"
"No!"
"Surrender, Pharaoh!"
The Pharaoh grunted, the millennium puzzle jabbing into his spleen rather painfully. "I will never surrender to someone like you," he growled. "I never did any wrong towards you!"
"If you hadn't died, then I would have been able to have a family that actually loved me!"
Ivan's gaze pierced into his, violet clashing against golden brown. The Pharaoh blocked him again, hissing as the tip of Ivan's sword sliced into his arm. "I was not responsible for your family's death. Nor was I responsible for their upbringing. That was their choice and theirs alone."
"Lies!"
"Why would I lie to you?" he asked, bringing his sword down to deflect the boy's. "I have only known you for a few days. I have shown nothing but kindness and hospitality towards you. We all have. And this is how you thank us?"
The boy's glare faltered a little though his eyes remained steely. "I was following my Queen's orders. She is the only one in the world who cares about me."
"And why do you think that?"
Ivan stared at him incredulously. "The House has never shown me kindness, nor have the Tomb Keepers. Only the Cult of Isfet cares about me."
The Pharaoh growled again. "Do you even hear yourself? You are willing to sacrifice your own kind just out of resentment towards someone who you don't even know?"
"SHUT UP!" the boy screeched. "Why are you telling me these things? Why do you care? Why are you so nice to me?"
Taken aback, he backed up, watching as Ivan clutched his head as if he had a headache. "You're supposed to be the bad guy," he dropped his weapon with a loud clank. "Amon, Ma'kaan, even Arashi have told me that Zireria is the one who will destroy the bad people in this world!"
"Ivan, they're lying!" the Pharaoh protested. "Zireria wants to kill everyone in this world and let demons and other evil people run the world. Is that the world you want to live in?"
"I…I don't know! I just want everything to be over! I just want to be able to pursue a normal life! I don't care about magic; I really don't!"
The Pharaoh sighed, his anger dying down a little towards the child. "Then let me help you, Ivan. Maybe the world has been cruel to you, but that does not give you a reason to be cruel to others. It's your life, Ivan," he held out his hand. "Let me help you. It's not too late to start a new."
Before the boy could take his hand, a black tendril wrapped around his neck, dragging him towards the Queen.
"My, my, sister. What a situation we are in," Zireria glanced at the boy being suspended in the air by his neck. "It's too bad, really. He was such a good little spy."
"Put him down!" Tenionia commanded. "Why would you do this to him? He has been nothing but loyal to you!"
"I will do anything to get the crystal! Even if I have to destroy some of my followers."
The other magicians had stopped fighting now, creating sort of a circle around the two sisters. Imayra was helping support Celcia, who had a nasty looking gash staining her dress. Marik stood protectively near his sister, glaring at the Queen with such hatred. Jounouchi and Honda still had their duel monsters out, daring any Magician to come near Imayra and her injured wife. Bakura stood right next to Tenionia, the Pharaoh flanking his right side.
Tenionia sighed. "You would kill a child just to get what you want?" the no nonsense look from her sister made her sigh sadly again, though it soon changed to a look of determination. White magic poured from her palms, cascading around her body like a bright glowing shield. "Even if it means I will be destroyed, I won't let you have it!"
"We'll see about that!"
She raised her hands above her head, a white sphere glowing in her hands. The whole room was filled with light, causing some of the demons nearby to hiss. Bakura hissed as well, shielding his eyes from brightness. "Isis' light," he grumbled, remembering it from so long ago, and frowned. "It will kill you, you know!"
Tenionia let a faint smile trace her lips. "I know," she dropped the smile soon after. "And I'm not afraid. I've only died once and I'll gladly do it again to save this world."
"Don't be a martyr!" Bakura hissed. "If you die now, that won't stop her from regaining strength!"
"But it will save Anzu, won't it?"
Zireria let out a howl, her arm becoming encased in a translucent; diamond like structure that stretched her arm out to an impossible length. Before Tenionia could even process it, the hand reached out towards her body and planted itself into her chest. She screamed, falling to her knees as the light died out. Zireria smiled cruelly, pulling out a shining object.
"It's mine!" she squealed, holding the round shining object gently. "Finally ,it's mine!"
Tenionia wobbled around, the blood draining from her face. Zireria tossed the crystal lightly in her hands, a sparkle forming in her eyes. "At last, the little wretch will be gone. And all the power will be mine!"
"N…no!" Tenionia managed to get out. "No!"
"Good bye, sister."
With that, Zireria's hands closed around the crystal, the sound of glass breaking echoed in everyone's ears. Imayra screamed, her arm leaving Celcia's side and placed it over her heart, collapsing onto her knees in pain. Tenionia screamed, the light fading from her eyes as she collapsed. Zireria shrieked with laugher, the tendrils snapping Ivan's neck and dropping him to the ground.
"Mistress!" Elecktra screamed. "Mistress, wake up!"
Tenionia couldn't help it; her eyes closing as Elecktra screamed to her. She felt the noisy world around her dull into silence, darkness clouding her vision. She felt like she was falling further into the darkness, cold air rushing into her hair as she fell. "I feel like I'm dying again," she mused, a tear slipping past her eye. "I just hope…I just hope they will be okay without me. Even if I am dead, at least I tried to save them."
"You're not dead."
Her eyes shot open, the darkness overwhelming her and caused her to cry out. A single light broke through the dark, coming towards her and taking her outstretched hand. She stared at the light as it took the form of a young man. For a moment, she thought it was Anzu, but then realized it wasn't. "Akio," she whispered hoarsely. "Or Savan. Which one are you?"
"Both," the young man said kindly. "We are the same."
"How…but weren't you born with Anzu?"
Savan, or, Akio as he was once called, smiled sadly. "We were born together. No matter what life we were born into, she will always be my sister. Even if she is being possessed by someone so twisted and evil."
Tenionia only sighed. "Are you here to take me to heaven or something?"
"No, I am here to return you to your friends. Imayra would be the one who decides who goes where, but we do have other abilities. But I will explain more later. For now, it is time to wake up."
"Elecktra," Marik shook her body frantically, worry in his voice. "Please, wake up! Wake up!"
"Marik, I am not a pillow. Quit squishing me!"
He let go, relief flooding over his face. Elecktra opened her eyes, fatigue crashing over like a tidal wave. Looking up, she could see Yami, Marik, Isis, Jououchi and Honda standing over her. Imayra and Celcia stood nearby, the two of them looking very pale. "Imayra," she said hoarsely. "What happened?"
"The Crystal," the immortal woman whispered. "The Crystal was destroyed. And now Zireria has total control over Astraia's powers. Once it was destroyed, it awakened her and removed Savan's presence from her body," she closed her eyes briefly. "But he is not dead. I can feel it."
She nodded, holding her head in her hands. "I saw him. Well, Mistress saw him, but I was there too," she recalled the image of the boy holding her hand. "He said that he would help us. But where is he?"
"Right here."
They turned around, seeing Ivan stand up shakily. He smiled at them, revealing bright blue eyes instead of golden brown. The Pharaoh tilted his head in confusion. "Zireria snapped Ivan's neck. How?"
"I rescued his soul as well," the boy said. "As we speak, it is currently sleeping. I have temporary control of his body. When I have no need of it, I will return it to him."
"Who are you?" Honda asked in bewilderment.
"My name is Akio," the boy smiled gently. "But you can call me Savan. That was my original name, after all," he turned to Imayra solemnly, smiling sadly at her. "It's been a long time, sister."
She nodded to him. "It has."
"Wait a minute," Jounouchi intervened. "If Anzu didn't have her memories, why do you have yours?"
"Because I didn't die like my sister did," Savan answered sadly. "It was my fault she died. I only waited until Imayra said she was reborn and placed myself in the womb next to her in Miku's body. She didn't even know it was me until I revealed myself. It's confusing, I know."
Elecktra sighed, staring at her hands. "Mistress is very weak now. I haven't heard her say anything to me. My head is…quiet."
Marik squeezed her hand. "Zireria and her minions disappeared," he turned to her sadly. "Bakura tried to stop her, but she disintegrated him. His body turned to ashes and his soul disappeared."
She turned to Imayra. "Has he appeared before you yet?"
The woman shook her head, blonde locks falling out of her bun. "I have not felt his should enter purgatory for judgment. I fear that Zireria may have absorbed it."
Savan nodded his head. "And my sister has awoken. I felt her presence," the grim look from his face did not falter. "Though she still does not have access to her powers."
"Why is that?" Elecktra asked warily.
He turned to her gravely. "Because she still does not have her memories."
(In Zireria's body)
"Well this is just great," Bakura grumbled, arms crossed over his chest. "I get disintegrated and now I'm stuck in the Queen's body. Fan-fucking-tastic."
He assumed this was her soul room, though he wasn't entirely sure. The only thing he knew that it was dark and there was a black sarcophagus in the center. Stepping towards it, he groaned once he saw who it was. "Of all the people I had to find, it was you!"
Anzu glared up at him, sitting up in the coffin and rubbing her eyes. "Where am I?" she asked sleepily. "I don't think I remember falling asleep. And why are you here?"
He rolled his eyes, helping her out of the box. "We're in Zireria's body. Well, technically it's your body, but you're basically her bitch right now."
"Huh?"
He sighed irritably. "Allow me to explain…"
