Ermigerd, I lurve you guys! I got so many wonderful reviews! Sorry, this chapter is a little short because I have two projects due tomorrow (procrastinators unite!) and my group(s) are counting on me. I'm also going to try (notice the word try) and update Wednesday (early dismissal day!) and perhaps Friday, if I get any new ideas. Happy? Well, I need to start the chapter, so here's Chapter 13, taking off in 3... 2... 1! Now for a commercial (Disclaimer) break.

Disclaimer: I AM ZE MAXIMUM RIDE OWNER... not. I don't own Maximum Ride or any of it's characters (but I do own Alex!).

Chapter 13

Max POV

"Are you done attacking me?" Fang said, peeking tentatively from his hiding spot, raising his eyebrows.

"Oh, Fang!" I exclaimed, realizing who it was. "That was you?"

He stepped out from behind the tree, wiping pieces of bark of his soaked pants. "Yeah, that was me."

We took cover under the tree from the rain and tried (and failed) to dry ourselves by wringing the water out of our shirts (thankfully I had an undershirt on too so my shirt wasn't clinging to me like a koala).

"Why are you here?" I finally asked, with a sigh, freeing pieces of bark from my hair.

With that, he kinda (literally) exploded.

"WHY AM I HERE?" he shouted, throwing all his self-control out the window (or tree?). "I was WORRIED because you didn't come back and it was already DARK so I went out to find you! And here you are, all comfy and snuggling with a tree! By the way, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING GETTING LOST INSIDE THE FOREST?! I thought someone had kidnapped you!"

"Sorry," I said sheepishly, looking down.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you!" he said, forcefully turning my head towards him, sending droplets of water everywhere. "I come to find you IN THE RAIN, and you ask me why am I here?! Is that a proper greeting to give someone when they rescue you?!"

"I knew where I was!" I protested. "Besides, how did you know I was here?"

"I followed the yelling voice and the barking dog. What else? The yellow brick road? Don't see one anywhere!"

"THEN HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET BACK IF YOU WERE LISTENING TO US?" I burst out, throwing my hands in the air. "We're not in Hansel and Gretel! We have a dog here!"

"Unlike you," he pointed at me, "I can actually use some COMMON SENSE and LOOK UP."

I looked up to the sky and saw out house peeking just above the treetops. Whoops.

"Well how was I supposed to know that?!" I argued.

"As I said, COMMON SENSE," he said, irritated.

We continued to argue until finally, to my surprise, he sighed deeply and hugged me tightly, like you would to a teddy bear.

"Jeez, don't make we worry so much," he whispered. "Don't do that ever again, okay?"

"Sorry, Fang, for making you worry," I murmured back, cautiously wrapping my arms around him too in a soft embrace. "I'll try not to do it again."

"Good." He paused. "Wait, try?"

We then realized that the rain had stopped, and it was already dark. Crickets were chirping, and everything was sparkling from the moist dew like sequins.

"We better head back shouldn't we?" Fang suggested, standing up with Total, who was already fast asleep, cuddling in his arms, and holding out a hand.

"Yeah." I took his hand, and we walked away.

"Awwww..." J.J. (AN: Sorry I haven't been using her lately. I kinda just use her when nobody else really fits the role so yeah. I'll try and remember to use her though!) cooed, "that sounded like a lover's quarrel!"

"Did not!" I protested. "We're not lovers, and we just had a friendly argument!"

"Friendly?" she said, crossing her arms and raising her eyebrows.

"Well, maybe not that friendly... but not so rough that we tore each other apart, ya know?"

We were currently in our 4th period study hall pretending to be doing our homework but actually just chatting, waiting for the bell to ring so we could go home. Like the rest of the class was.

"Well, good thing you made up. I mean, if you two didn't make up, you would have to marry Dylan, remember?" J.J. reminded me.

"How do you know all this?" I said with a questioning eyebrow. "Besides, Dylan is a pretty nice guy." She snorted. "Compared to Fang," I added.

"That's because Fang is an emo, goth vampire."

"Who are you calling an emo, goth vampire?" a voice said from behind us making us silently shriek.

"F-Fang!" I stuttered. "W-What are you doing here?"

"Didn't you hear the bell? C'mon, we'll be late for our after school practices," he motioned to the crowd piling out the door, only to enter another crowd pushing their way out the gates. Typical.

"Oh yeah, that's right, don't you have a game next week?" I questioned, shoving books into my bookbag.

"That's today."

"Whaaaaat? Why wasn't I informed of this?" I squawked.

"Do you need to be informed of this?" Fang said, raising his eyebrows.

"Jeez Max," J.J. scolded, grabbing her soccer bag, along with mine. "You don't even remember your husband's schedule?"

"We're not married!" I whisper screamed, carefully making sure only us three could hear.

"Yet," she said with a smirk, making me scowl. "C'mon, we'll be late for soccer practice."

Right before J.J. and I parted ways with Fang, I asked him subconsciously, "Hey, when's the game?"

He smirked, grabbing his football bag. "It's starts at six and it's at Green High School. You wanna go?"

That's all for now, folks! Well, folks as in people who are reading this, (hopefully) not my family, you know? Next chapter is about game night! Whoooo go team! And Fang! Well, I need to work on my projects now, so I hope you review! R&R please!
