Lights in the Dark
Two full days passed since Razan taken Noa. Now on day three he was outside in the backyard where his car was. He already packed all his stuff now he was getting the trunk ready to transfer the boy. He thought it was time to move Noa out to Muii Forest. He didn't want to take the risk of staying at the old mansion. He feared someone would drop by like Kaiba had and ruin everything, not only that but the media was still blowing up since the news broke of Noa's abduction and especially since Kaiba offered a pretty hefty reward for finding the boy.
He felt the whole city was on the lookout and needed to get the hell of doge. He worked too hard to get to this point and he didn't want to lose it all, he just couldn't lose Noa. The boy belong to him and always would, he thought.
So once he was done he hurried back inside to fetch the boy, he wanted to head out as soon as he could. It would take few hours to drive out of the city limits and reached his destination. He hoped he wouldn't get caught on their way there.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Meanwhile, back upstairs Noa once again was trying to break the restrains that bound his arms and hands behind his back. He tried his very best to struggle free but the zip ties were just too strong for him to break. He sighed a bit defeated and leaned against the wall again drained. He looked out of the crack of the window, it was twilight outside, it must be morning again. He creased his brow in thought.
He wondered where Razan was, he hadn't seen him since the day he got angry with him. Because of that Razan hadn't brought him any food or water to drink.
He could feel his stomach grumble for food, his throat was dry and laced with deep thirst and he had to use the bathroom really, really bad. Maybe it was his way of punishing him for talking back or something. He sighed deeply and wondered if Razan was coming back or was he going to leave him there to die, however he dismissed that thought immediately, no that wouldn't happen.
He knew for sure that Razan wasn't just going to let him die. To him he was his prize and he wouldn't have gone through all this trouble just let him die. Instead, he closed his eyes and thought about his family again. He thought about Charles, Mokuba and Joey but most of all he thought about Seto. He thought about what Seto said to him on the day when he gave him his locket. He clung to those words now. He knew his brother was doing all his could to found him and wouldn't give up until he did… because he loved him so. He must believe that and mustn't lose hope either, it was all he had. Yes, he must stay strong, he nodded determined.
Abruptly, he heard footsteps coming, it was Razan no question. He followed the sound until it paused at the door then he heard it being unlocked. He sat there trying to remain calm this time. He wouldn't be good for him if he angered this crazed man. Razan had a very bad temper and he knew that now. Yes, stay calm.
Razan opened the door and gazed over to him, "All right, time to go."
Time to go? Go where? Noa thought with dread. He didn't want to go anywhere, if he moved him now they would never be able to find him, fearing that more he began to struggle when Razan walked toward him and tried to pick him up in his arms. No, he wasn't going anywhere with him! He tried to kick Razan away.
Razan hardened his face at him. He grabbed his shoulder and squeezed it roughly which caused Noa to cry out and stop him instantly, "Behave yourself boy or I'll swear," he warned him. He didn't want to end up drugging the kid one more time. Like he had thought before, he didn't want to take the risk of something happening to the boy. It was very important that he take care of his health now.
Noa eyes filled with painful tears. He stopped his struggle and just sat there very still. He felt Razan release his shoulder and picked him up. He held him close in his arms then carried him out of the room quick. He tried his best to look around as he was taken out of there. But he couldn't see anything, it was still a bit dark.
Razan looked around for second. When the coast was clear he hurried out and jogged over to his car. He very gently laid the boy down inside the trunk. He modified it to have a false bottom so it would be easier to conceal him. Just in case he was stopped and his car searched, no one would find him. He grabbed his throat for a moment, "Are you going to be good Noa?" he heard him gage some.
Noa gagged briefly, he thought for second then nodded. He saw him smirk, let go of his throat and closed the trunk's cover liner down upon him. He blinked eyes a few times at the sudden darkness before he heard the trunk's door slam shut.
He heard Razan get in in the car, started it up and proceeded to drive somewhere. He still wondered where he was being taken to. He guessed he would find out when they got there. He hoped he wasn't too far, he mentally frowned at that.

Detective Kono sat at his desk very tired. It been two full days now and they still haven't found the boy yet. They had good amount of tips that came in but they all turned out to be dead ends and they searched everywhere too, parks, abandoned buildings and houses, vacant lots, open fields, river banks, lakes and still they all came up empty. Maybe he should consider that a good thing, the kid might still be alive or... he shook that thought away. He wished they could put up more roadblocks but unfortunately they didn't have enough man power to cover the whole city. So the only thing they had really was the van that they had found and thankfully the results just came in so his partner Ito went down to fetch them.
He just hoped to god that they would find something that led them to the boy. When more and more time passed the less likely they would find the kid alive. He lined his face with deep dread. He wasn't looking forward when he would have to bring the Kaibas heartbreaking news like that. He shaped his face sorrowfully.
"Well Kono, I have good news and some bad." Ito walked up to his desk.
Kono snapped out of his thoughts and viewed his partner. The look on his face was mixed. He leaned forward somewhat serious, "Give me the bad news first."
"They combed through the entire thing from top to bottom and they hadn't really found anything. No DNA, no hair fragments, no fingerprints, just a whole lot of nothing," Ito tossed the folder down on his desk with a heavy frown.
"Damn," Kono leaned back into his chair with a frustrating look. He felt his hopes dash down just a bit, surely they would had found something. He folded his brow a bit defeated, "And the good?" he saw him perk up just a bit when asked that.
Ito perked up then, "They did find this," he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. "It's a receipt to some rental store and it looks like it was paperclip to something else. It could be the place where the guy got the van," he handed it to him. "We could trace the plates on there to see if it comes up a match to the place too," he crossed his arms with some hope for a good lead.
Kono took the paper from him, he viewed the address on there, "All right," he perked up himself, "At least there's something to tell Mr. Kaiba. I need to give him a call anyway," he reached for the phone. Mr. Kaiba had been checking in with him every few hours for any kind of news but he wasn't upset with him though. He could understand that the young man must be going crazy with deep worry.
"Maybe we should wait on telling him anything though Kono," Ito gave him a serious look and went around to his desk. He sat down and leaned back in his chair, "You know, until we know more," he creased his brow somewhat.
"Why?" Kono gave him a curious look. He could tell that something was on his mind with that look on his face. He hoped his partner wasn't thinking what he thought he was thinking. With that he shaped his own face serious.
"Because…" Ito folded his arms, he was going to say it straight out. "Kaiba might turn out to be a suspect in this whole thing." He kicked up his feet on his desk, "I mean. He could've regretted adopting the kid because he thought the boy was more trouble than he was worth and this was his way of getting rid him," he looked at him matter-of-factly. He viewed his partner who a serious look too.
He thought back a moment, they had questioned Mr. Kaiba's family and friends about their relationship and how well they were getting along. Surprisingly, they all gave him the same answer, they had some things to work out but all in all their relationship was solid. But despite that, he knew of Seto Kaiba reputation very well from variety of sources so he still wouldn't put anything passed the guy.
"You really think Mr. Kaiba had something to do with this." Kono shook his head dismissively. He wouldn't believe that Kaiba would do anything to harm Noa.
"Hey I wouldn't be surprised with his reputation he has." Ito rubbed his chin somewhat judgmental. "He's cold, uncaring, mistreats people and can be ruthless sometimes." He molded his face a bit tough, "I can go on and on here Kono."
"I admit Mr. Kaiba may have done a lot of things that most people wouldn't approve. But I know that he would never harm a child." Kono gave him a serious look. He hated when people judge others without giving them a chance in return.
"If you say so."
"I do and anyways if Mr. Kaiba didn't care about Noa he wouldn't be calling here every hour to check if we him found yet. Plus, he sure as hell wouldn't offer up one million dollar reward for locating the boy either," Kono shook his head some. He wasn't all too sure about offering a reward. It could clutter their tip hotline with unnecessary information. However, Mr. Kaiba insisted very strongly, he wanted to find his brother fast and thought that this might be the best way.
"Okay, I get your point Kono," Ito shook his head annoyed at his partner jumping at Mr. Kaiba's defense like that. But he knew Kono for a many years now so he shouldn't be surprised that he did either. He would always give a person a fair chance no matter who they were. He then briefly went back into thought.
Kono just nodded, "Good," he leaned back in his own seat while he went into deep thought. He couldn't figure why that man targeted Noa like that, it wasn't for money they knew that by now and Seto Kaiba was considered a high profile person. Why take a risk like that? Just something didn't make sense here, "I dunno Ito. I have this strong feeling it's something more to this," he rubbed his own chin repeatedly trying to think of something else but couldn't think of any.
"Like what? Human or sex trafficking type of thing," Ito lined his brow at that dreadful thought. He surely hoped something like that didn't happen to the kid. If it did, it would most likely that Noa would never be found, he frowned again.
"Perhaps but we've been closely monitoring the dark web. There hadn't been any pictures of Noa or any videos or live streams featuring him anywhere on there. I just dunno," he rubbed his forehead in deep thought but was coming up empty.
"I guess we can at least consider that a good thing." Ito then massaged his chin in thought himself, "But you know I still can't believe here," he shaped his face.
"What?" Kono lined his brow at his partner.
"The guard that was supposed to be watching Noa that day," Ito gave him a serious look, "According to Roland Mr. Kaiba made it very clear that no one left their posts no matter what." He leaned forward, "So why did this guy do it knowing that deal? I mean his reason was he was helping some kid out."
"You think it was stage or something?" Kono raised a brow a bit.
"It's a possibility," Ito crossed his arms, "I'll figure it out when I go ask them a few more questions this afternoon. With some luck we'll get something useful."
Kono nodded his head with agreement then looked at his watch at the time. "I got get going here. Mr. Kaiba's going to chopper me over to Childhelp so I can interview Akio Konishi," he then stood up from his chair. "Maybe he could give us more insight about Noa and who might have taken him," he viewed his partner.
Ito nodded at that, "While you're doing that, I'll go check out the van." He stood up as well. "After that I'll go question the guard and the kid and see what I find."
"Right, let me know if you do find something," Kono grabbed his jacket, put it on and the two rushed out. He just hoped this Akio guy would be able to help.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Back at the Kaiba house, Mr. Fields, Joey and Bakura stood by the front door. Bakura was getting ready to leave for work, before he did he faced them with a creased brow, "We're going late coming back so you don't need to hold on dinner for us, okay," he viewed over mainly to Mr. Fields, he saw the old man just nod. It was a long shot but he did manage to find some places on the dark web that he and Marik wanted to check out. He hoped that it would lead to finding Noa.
"Why are you going to be late?"
Bakura turned to Joey, like Seto the teen look tired and strained. He knew how rough it was for them right now, not able to find Noa. He would be bouncing off the walls too if Ryou or Malik went missing. When the Detectives learned of his criminal history they questioned him thoroughly, which he could understand to some degree. Thankfully they cleared him of any involvement in the abduction.
But regardless, they still felt responsible of what happened, like they could have done more to prevent this horrible situation. But Seto shot that down right away, their friend told them that did a very good job on taking care of his brothers and what happened wasn't their fault. That laid on him, they tried to object but Seto wouldn't hear of it. So they had sworn to all of them that he and Marik would do all they could to find Noa. With that, he lessened his form just a bit, "After I get off work I'm going to meet up with Marik." He shaped his face, "We still have a few things to check out," he then turned around reached for the door handle.
"Does it have to do with Noa?" Joey looked at him eagerly. He was very grateful to have those two there with them. Bakura promised that he would continue to look for any information out there, big or small in the hopes of finding Noa.
Bakura paused and thought for a long moment. Like he thought early, there were some very dark places that they wanted to check out and he didn't want to tell him anything, it would just scare even more than he was. He looked over his shoulder, "Yes and that's all I'm going to say." He saw him frowned worriedly at that, "Don't worry Joey, if we find anything we'll let you know at once, all right."
Joey nodded then saw him leave out the door. He watched frowningly while Mr. Fields locked up. He hoped to god that Bakura would find something that would lead them to Noa. He felt very tired and rubbed his face with his hands slowly but paused when felt a gentle hand on his shoulder. He viewed up to the old man then and smiled some. He looked just as exhausted as he was, maybe more.
Mr. Fields gave him a wearily smile of his own. He could tell how tired the young teen was, sleep wasn't really a priority in the house right now, "You should get some rest son. Go ahead to the living room and lie down on the couch okay and I'll bring you some warm milk." He clasped his shoulder softly, hoping he agreed.
Joey lined his face a little. He wanted to object but knew the old man was right. He should at least get some rest. So he agreed and headed for the living room where he knew Seto was. He was about a halfway there when suddenly he heard the phone ring and rushed the rest of the way. It could be news about Noa.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Seto sat on the couch in the living room on the phone with Detective Kono. It's been two full days already and still there no sign of Noa anywhere. He was getting so frustrated with the lack of progress thus far and couldn't even begin on how distressed he was now. He wanted to know where Noa was, he wanted to find his brother and bring him home. All this waiting around was driving him to the breaking point. Why was it taking so long to locate him? He couldn't even imagine how scared his dear brother might be right now and pleaded to the heavens that he was okay and no harm was done to him. He closed his eyes as he prayed so hard for that. "Oh no, are you sure?" he sighed heavily into the phone receiver.
He creased his brow very deeply while he continued to listen to the Detective update him on the case, which sadly wasn't much at all. But he became slightly encouraged when Kono told that they did find something interesting, "You did?"
Joey entered the room and saw Seto on the couch. His love appeared to be in an intense conversation on the phone. He saddened his eyes even more and wandered over and sat down close to him, he wanted to know what was up.
Seto viewed Joey for a brief moment and mouthed 'Kono' to him, he saw him nod before he returned back to the conversation. He rubbed his forehead slowly with his hand. "Yes, let's hopes it leads somewhere." He breathed heavily into the receiver again, "What about the tip hotline? … All dead ends huh," he shook his head then, "How can that be? With the reward surely someone out there must have saw something." He creased his brow, "Yeah, I know you're doing all you can," he leaned back into the couch, "I understand," he nodded a bit, "Right, I'm on my way now," he sighed jaggedly, "Bye," he hung up the phone with a serious but disheartened look. He was hoping for some better news from him but no.
Joey lined his face, "What did Detective Kono say?" he prayed it was something good. It's been two days now since Noa was abducted and he was still missing.
"Well…" Seto creased his brow, "They search the van but they didn't find any physical evidence. However, they did find a shop receipt to where he got the van. It might lead to something," he turned to him and noticed how drained he was.
"Well that's great!" that was the first time Joey felt real hope. He grasped his hand tightly, "And with the reward money you're offering we'll find Noa for sure."
Seto squeezed his hand back trying to think positive. "Let's hope so Joey, let's hope so." He drew in a deep breath, "Where's Mokie?" he suddenly asked.
"Upstairs, asleep," Joey rubbed his eye some. He did felt exhausted for staying up most of the night. He should take Mr. Fields advice and get some needed rest too.
"Good," Seto stood up desolately and rubbed his forehead. He looked up briefly and saw Mr. Fields enter the room with a steamy cup of something.
Mr. Fields walked over to Joey and handed it to him, "Here you go Joseph."
"Thanks Charlie," Joey took it from him with a small smile.
Mr. Fields turned to Seto, "Is there anything you would like Master Seto?"
Seto shook his head, "No, I'm going meet Kono at the airport now. So we can head over to Childhelp to see Akio," he frowned heavily at that, he was almost nervous on seeing him again and feared on what he would say when he saw him. Most likely it would be blame. He creased his brow with heavy regret now.
He thought back to the promise he made back at the beach house, that he would keep Noa safe at all costs. But how he failed at that, he felt ultimately responsible for what happened. He just didn't know what went wrong, security was air tight or so he thought, he over-looked one thing, just one and that cost him big. He cursed himself repeatedly for not seeing it sooner. It was just like with Baiko, he should have seen it sooner. He mind kept repeating that single haunting phrase.
Joey saw his frown and knew what he was thinking. He reached out with his other hand and grasped his hand again, "Maybe I should go with you," he offered. He didn't want him to face Akio alone just in case he would lash out at him.
"NO, no I want you to stay here with Charles and Mokie." Seto strongly stated, with Yami away at the office and Bakura and Marik both at work he felt extremely uncomfortable leaving them home alone, he didn't want anything more to happen to his family. However, he beefed up security around their home and Roland was right outside so that ease him just a bit. Thank god he still had the restraining order in place banning the media away so they wouldn't have to deal with them. He sighed deeply and knew they would be okay for a few hours.
"Okay," Joey lessened his eyes, he could see the uneasiness and worry in love's eyes. "It'll be okay babe," he squeezed his hand with some encouragement.
Seto then saw his face laced with encouragement, "Right, well… I should go," he reached down and gave him a light kiss before he left for the door. He paused for a moment, "Remember, don't leave the house of any reason and don't answer the door for anyone except Roland, Yami, Bakura and Marik okay." He saw them nod, "Also, Jin said that he would be coming over later this afternoon to see how Mokuba's doing. He's wanted to make sure he was handling this situation okay," he shaped his face worried himself, Mokuba was shutting down some. He knew his brother was blaming himself a few days ago on what happened. But he told him he shouldn't, it wasn't his fault and hoped his Mokie had believed that.
Joey lessened his eyes again, "Okay, make sure to let Roland know that."
Seto nodded, "Come Charles, I want you to set the alarm when I leave," he motioned for the old man to follow him to the front door which he did.
Joey watched them leave with a soft brow, all he could do now was wait, so he would keep them in his thoughts especially Noa. With that, he drank down his warm milk, when it was all gone he set it down on the coffee table. He knew he should call his sister, she must be worried with regards of Noa but he was too tried right now. He would call her later after he rested a little bit. Deciding on that, he laid down fully on the couch and lightly fell asleep into restless dreams.
