Recap:
"Good because they have started receiving death threats from him and they want this resolved as soon as possible… I'm giving you one month to complete it." Itachi glanced at Sasuke but nodded and stood up from his seat.
"Understood we'll head out immediately." Minato nodded and watched as the two vanished from his office before sighing and rubbing his head.

Chapter 14
X- 1 month later -X
It was close to 11 o'clock at night when two shadows scaled Konoha's wall and dashed through the village. No one seemed to be awake but that didn't distract them as they reached the tower. The only light was in the Hokage's office and when they appeared in the room Minato looked up. The two were kneeling in front of his desk, masks firmly in place.
"So?" the taller masked ninja bowed his head and held out a scroll.
"There were some… complications but the mission was completed with the captive being returned to grass country." Minato looked toward the shorter shinobi as she too held out a scroll.
"His jutsu was indeed formidable but we were able to defeat him without any fatalities." Minato stood and collected the two scrolls while nodding.
"I'm glad you both made it back in one piece… you may remove your masks." The two Anbu removed their masks and stood up. Minato gave the two ravens a smile as he returned to his seat. "You can have tomorrow off to recuperate." Sasuke smiled as she played with her mask.
"Minato-sama…" the blond Hokage raised an eyebrow.
"What is it Sasuke-chan?" Itachi also sent his young wife a curious look but she just took a deep breath before looking up at Minato.
"I would like to resin from my Anbu status and return to being a jounin." Both men in the room looked surprised but Itachi soon smiled and took Sasuke hand as they waited for Minato's reply.
"I had a feeling this would be coming soon… and I was planning on having this be your last Anbu mission." Sasuke gasped and looked at him with surprise but soon smiled.
"Thank you Minato-san… can I ask one thing?" Minato nodded. "Don't give me a genin squad." The blond chuckled and relaxed into his chair.
"I wasn't planning on it… at least not yet." Sasuke immediately beamed and looked up at Itachi.
"Happy now?" Itachi nodded and pulled Sasuke into a light kiss before Minato cleared his throat with a curious expression.
"Mind filling me in on why he should be happy?" Sasuke blushed and buried her face in Itachi's neck, causing the older raven to chuckle.
"I think we're just exhausted, we'll come by tomorrow." Before Minato could ask what was wrong the two were gone and the room was once again silent.
"Well at least they brought their reports with them." he placed the two mission reports inside his desk before standing to head home.
X- 10 o'clock -X
Tara sighed as she put down the large bag she had been carrying and turned to Ken, who was setting down his own bag. They smiled at each other before turning away from shop.
"Why did we agree to this again?" Ken chuckled and took her hand as they walked back through the streets.
"Sasuke-chan asked us to help anyone who needed it since they were going on a mission." Tara sighed but smiled as she watched a group of kids run by.
"You're right… I just didn't think it was this much work." Ken shook his head but his attention was drawn to the kids when one squealed.
"Sasuke-sama you're back!" the two jounin smiled when they saw both Itachi and Sasuke walking towards them, obviously coming from their house. Sasuke happily greeted the young kids while Itachi continued to walk. None of them seemed to mind as Sasuke crouched down so she could talk to them.
"Were there any problems?" Tara shook her head and pulled her gaze from Sasuke.
"Nope, we just finished helping Nanko-san and the bakery." Itachi nodded and glanced back at his wife, who was laughing with the children.
"You probably won't have to worry about covering for her for a while." Tara tilted her head but understanding flashed across her face.
"So she finally resigned?" Itachi nodded and looked back at the couple.
"This was her last mission as Anbu, she's returning to jounin rank now." Ken looked curious.
"Why'd she resign? She is an excellent shinobi she didn't need to." Itachi raised an eyebrow but otherwise remained expressionless.
"It was her decision not mine." Before Ken could respond Sasuke appeared at Itachi's side.
"I take it Itachi-kun told you already." Tara nodded and smiled.
"I'm glad, now I don't have to worry about you as much and you can assist me with my genin squad once the academy graduates next month." Sasuke smiled back but shook her head.
"I know what you're trying to do and it won't work." Tara pouted but quit pretending and smiled.
"You caught me… but if you don't mind I want them to think I'm awesome because I know the wife of the Uchiha clan head." Sasuke's light laugh brought a small smile to Itachi's lips.
"Of course not, Just remember there is a reason we put up the fence." Tara rolled her eyes.
"Yeah I know no playing in the garden." Sasuke smiled and nodded before linking her arm with the brunette's.
"Come on Tara-chan, let's go get something from the bakery." Tara smiled back and allowed Sasuke to lead her off down the street. Ken watched them go and smiled before turning to Itachi.
"The whole village is talking." Itachi quickly looked around to make sure the kids were far enough away so they wouldn't hear before starting to slowly walk back towards his house with Ken beside him.
"What is it now?" Ken hesitated but sighed.
"It's about Naruto's training mission… there are quite a few people who think Sasuke-chan had something to do with it." Itachi remained expressionless the only sign of his anger was the slight downward twitch of his lips.
"I figured that." Ken frowned as they came to a slightly less populated street, the closer they came to the Uchiha residence the less people were about.
"I know more people are starting to like her but I don't think it's safe to leave Sasuke-chan alone while you're on mission." Itachi nodded and finally stopped walking.
"I don't plan on it… I want you to let the residence know that if they see any cats they are to be treated as if they were Uchihas." Ken raised an eyebrow but nodded and turned around so they were walking back toward the bakery.
"Will there be any punishments?" Itachi started walking a little faster.
"I will know if any are mistreated and if they can't follow this simple request then they can move back to Konoha's main branch." Ken was slightly surprised by the serious tone but nodded as they finally arrived at their destination.
Sasuke was just receiving a bag from the kind old man behind the counter while Tara already had hers. They were both smiling and thanking the shop owner before walking up to the two men.
"Here you go Itachi-kun, I got you a sweet roll you haven't had them since we got back from the vacation." Itachi smiled and accepted the offered food while Sasuke started nibbling on one of her bagels. Ken smiled at the couple before Tara lightly tugged on his arm and looked up. The four all looked to the sky just as a dusty brown hawk circling over their heads.
"Ha looks like it's us this time." Sasuke smiled and waved as Tara practically dragged Ken off to the tower. Sasuke sighed as they disappeared but her vision suddenly blurred and she swayed on her feet. Itachi immediately grabbed her shoulder and helped steady her until she straightened.
"You alright?" Sasuke slowly nodded.
"I think so… but let's go home anyway." Itachi nodded and they slowly made their way back to the house. Once they returned Itachi made Sasuke sit down in the living room as he went about making a small lunch for them.
"Itachi-kun?" said raven stopped what he was doing and sat down next to Sasuke on the couch. "Do you think it's a boy or a girl?... which do you want?" Itachi's eyes slightly widened in surprise but he leaned closer and gently rubbed her barely rounded stomach.
"I don't care which as long as they are healthy." Sasuke smiled and placed her hand over his ceasing its movement.
"But if you had to pick which would you want?" Itachi sighed before softening his gaze.
"I would like a son… that way he'll be able to protect his siblings and you." Sasuke giggled and laced her fingers with his top of her stomach.
"Me too… but I'd also love a little girl." Itachi smiled and slowly stood up to finish making lunch. Sasuke happily sighed and relaxed back into the couch until a plate was set on her lap and Itachi returned to her side. They ate together before Sasuke rested her head on Itachi's shoulder and soon fell asleep. Itachi smiled and carefully moved so he could lay her out on the couch before placing a kiss on her forehead and cleaning up the plates.
X- 3 months later -X
Sasuke inwardly sighed as she watered the small bushes in front of the house. Itachi was away on a mission and wouldn't be back for another week. Her stomach had grown and everyone was surprised that they had kept it a secret for so long.
Minato had actually praised her for resigning from Anbu before congratulating them and hypocritically sending Itachi on several long missions. She wasn't too pleased with the missions but Tara had kept her distracted with her new genin squad. She had been 100% accurate when she said they would think she was awesome when they found out she knew Sasuke. The three had been nervous and jumpy around her even though they were only about 4 years younger than her. As if hearing her thoughts the said brunette appeared on the other side of the fence followed by her three genin.
"Sasuke-chan do you feel up to going to the training fields today?" Sasuke sighed but smiled and put the watering can down on the porch.
"Only if they ask me." The three genin immediately tensed and looked up at Tara with big eyes. The brunette laughed and lightly nudged one of the boys. He looked about ready to have a heart attack at being put on the spot.
"Sasuke-sama would you like to come with us?" Sasuke gave the boy a kind smile and nodded.
"Of course, I hope you all have improved after your last mission." The three nodded and gave her hesitant smiles while Tara looked around.
"Itachi-kun is still on his mission right?" Sasuke nodded and caught the genin immediately relax.
"He still has another week." Tara nodded and smiled down at the genin.
"See and you were all scared for nothing." The three young shinobi blushed in embarrassment as Sasuke joined them outside the fence.
"Don't worry, I know Itachi-san can be very scary but he won't bother you when I'm around." The three gave her small smiles before Tara happily linked her arm with Sasuke's and started to head toward the Uchiha's training fields. Once they arrived they could see that a few people were already there so Sasuke went and checked the register.
"It looks like field four is open." Tara nodded and quickly singed the paper before leading her team to their field. Sasuke softly smiled as she watched the young ninja eagerly wait to hear what they would be doing.
"Alright yesterday's mission went well but I think you all need to work on your chakra control… I know you wanted to learn something cool but let's start with the basics then go onto the fun stuff." The three groaned but did as told.
They worked through the standard exercises. Starting with the tree walking, then water walking, then holding themselves upside down from the trees and then holding themselves parallel to the ground. They all managed the tree climbing but they started having trouble with the water and by the time they got to the hanging they didn't have enough chakra and almost got hurt falling out of the tree.
Sasuke watched with sharp eyes and if they even wobbled she tensed, ready to catch them if they fell. Once it reached 2 o'clock Tara clapped her hands and the poor genin collapsed.
"That's it for today, you all did very well." She received three proud smiles for her compliment before stepping away from the tree she was leaning on and brushing imaginary dirt from her pants. "As a reward for a job well done I'll treat you all to a late lunch." This perked them up immediately and they all scrambled to stand, the one girl on the team turned to Sasuke with a bright smile.
"Sasuke-sama would you like to come too?" Sasuke smiled back and nodded.
"Sure I'd love too." The three genin cheered and started dragging Tara toward the village. Sasuke followed at a slower pace but didn't fall behind. When they got into the village quite a few people were out and they had to weave through the crowds. Sasuke got stopped several time by some of the nicer civilians who wished her well and yet she still managed to reach the small restaurant before Tara and the genin.
"Come on guys." The three genin almost ran into the restaurant but managed to calmly walk in making Sasuke and Tara laugh. Once they were seated conversation between the genin quickly broke out leaving Sasuke and Tara to have their own discussion.
"So did you ask him?" Sasuke smiled and nodded.
"Yep… but he doesn't want me doing anything." Tara laughed but discreetly made sure the genin weren't listening.
"You still have about three months before you shouldn't do anything he can at least give you that." Sasuke sighed as she sipped her tea.
"True but I really just want him to calm down, he's been trying to hide how worried he is and it's causing him more stress than he needs." Tara sighed and took her own drink.
"Just sit down and tell him." Sasuke smiled and glanced at the happily conversing genin.
"I know… but he has been getting more missions and in a few years he'll be expected to join council… I don't know what I'll do once that happens." Tara smiled back and gave the teen a reassuring look.
"Don't worry so much." Sasuke didn't get a chance to respond when a scream came from the front of the restaurant quickly followed by the manager's loud voice.
"Hey break it up!" Tara and Sasuke watched as the manager took a broom outside but a minute later he hurried back inside fresh scratches decorating his arm and broom missing. He looked around the few customers and when he saw Tara and Sasuke he quickly ran to their table.
"You two are shinobi right?" Sasuke nodded and Tara raised an eyebrow.
"What's wrong?" the man looked back at the door where faint scuffling sounds were coming through.
"One of the Hokage's messenger hawks is being attacked by a stray cat." Sasuke frowned and stood up.
"Don't worry we'll handle it." Tara nodded and followed Sasuke as the raven walked outside. Just as the man had said a dusty grey cat was repeatedly swiping its sharp claws at a golden brown hawk. The bird's eyes flashed as it tried and failed to pass the cat.
"Izumi!" the grey cat froze and slowly looked up at Sasuke finally letting the hawk pass him and land on Sasuke's shoulder. Tara watched from the restaurant's entrance as Sasuke checked the bird over but jumped slightly when the cat spoke.
"I'm sorry Sasuke-sama." Sasuke frowned down at the cat as the hawk indignantly ruffled its feathers.
"What did I tell you? The hawks are my friends and if you hurt them you won't be allowed in the house." The cat gasped and sat down before bowing its head in apology. Sasuke sighed and leaned down as far as her growing stomach would allow. "You should know better." The cat bowed its head farther before finally looking up at Sasuke.
"Uchiha-sama sent me to check up on you." The raven smiled and gently rubbed the cat's head.
"Thank you Izumi-kun, but I'm fine. Tell Itachi-kun that I'm alright and can't wait for him to return." The cat purred as Sasuke lightly scratched his ears before nodding and quickly trotting off down the street.
"Well that was interesting." Sasuke sighed as she straightened.
"That was Izumi-kun, he's the sneaky one that can get almost anywhere without anyone knowing. You remember Itachi-kun signed their summoning contract right?" Tara nodded as they walked back to the table.
"Yeah but I didn't know they talked." Sasuke smiled as they retook their sits.
"Oh come on Tara-chan all animal summons can talk." Tara frowned but was distracted by the three shocked genin who were gaping at Sasuke. She turned and laughed when she saw what had their attention.
"I think you forgot something Sasuke-chan." Sasuke blinked in surprise but the Hawk nuzzled into her cheek making her giggle.
"Oh I'm sorry guys this is Chi, he's one of Lord Hokage's messenger hawks." The young shinobi looked shocked at the bird's presence and just stared until the manager came over.
"Um… I really appreciate your help but… um… there's no animals allowed in here." He looked nervous but Sasuke gave him a kind smile and stood up.
"You're welcome and I don't worry I'll take him outside." The man smiled as Sasuke walked back outside. She looked over at the bird on her shoulder. "Did you want some company?" The bird sadly blinked his eyes and nodded.
"Oh alright." The hawk instantly brightened as Sasuke quickly made a clone and sent it back to Tara before turning and walking back towards her house. As she walked through the Uchiha section a sleek medium sized cat with long purple fur trotted up to her.
"Sasuke-sama are you done with training today?" Sasuke smiled and nodded as she watched the cat's fur fade into pink before slowly returning to purple.
"Yes Cheza-chan did you want to keep us company tonight?" the cat purred in approval as she quickly followed behind Sasuke until she reached the house. Once inside the three settled down on the couch after Sasuke opened one of the windows.
"Izumi-kun told me Uchiha-sama will be returning soon." Sasuke smiled and nodded as she gently rubbed the cat's currently pink fur.
"He'll be back sooner then we think." The cat purred and yawned before curling up in Sasuke lap and falling asleep. Sasuke quietly laughed before relaxing completely.
TBC
Well I hope you like Itachi's summons being cats. I think it's unique and yes you will recognize some of their names I'm not very creative.
