It didn't take long for word to get out in the supernatural world that people were planning on moving against the Original family of vampires and their closest friends. Soon everyone knew and had heard it either from the spirits, another vampire or another Cold One. Most of them decided to stay out of it and not to anger the Originals by going against them and not to help in case they actually lost. Staying neutral seemed to be the best solution but a few of them decided to make their way to the state of Washington where everything seemed to be happening.
Alice was still looking for more people to help them and trusting Katherine seemed to have been a great idea of hers. Indeed, having been on the run for over 500 years, the Petrova vampire seemed to know a lot of people who would want Klaus or one of his siblings dead.
"Why are we going to New Orleans again?" Edward asked Alice in a complaining tone.
He was with Alice and Katherine on a private plane on the way to New Orleans, where Katherine told them they might find help and all he could think about was that he missed Bella and that the last time he was on a plane, he was going to save her from James.
"The french quarters are filled with vampires and witches. Klaus and his family created this town and made it what it is before their father Mickeal ran them out of there. After that, one of Klaus' protege took over power and not too long ago he forbade witches from doing magic. He also ran the werewolves out of town and they're now close by, waiting for a chance to rise." Katherine explained.
"Who are we going to try and get on our side then? The werewolf, the witches or the vampires?" Edward asked her as Alice concentrated on her visions.
"The witches mostly. Maybe a few vampires... They have what they call The Garden. Some vampires who have faulted are punished and sent there. It's basically a cave where they are trapped, unable to feed and desiccating, under the town. I'm sure they'd love to follow us if we freed them." Katherine explained again.
"Great... I'll go to the closest hospital as soon as we arrive to buy some blood bags. I'll use Carlisle's name, he won't care." Edward nodded.
When they finally arrived, Katherine asked Edward and Alice to wait for her in the cemetery while she went to gather the witches. She immediately found the Devereaux sisters who called the rest of them. As soon as everyone was in the cemetery, Alice explained the situation in a way that made it look like Kol had stolen and compelled Bella to take her away.
"They've ruined everything we had going in Forks and we want revenge. Please, we need help." Alice finished.
"We could help you, but it won't be free." The elder witch Agnes declared.
"Of course it won't, it never is with you witches... What do you want?" Katherine asked.
"If we do this, come with you with our coven and our sons, we want you to come back here with us when it's over to help us get rid of Marcel." Agnes explained.
"Sure, as long as Klaus is dealt with, I have no problem with that." Katherine nodded.
"It's a deal then. We'll gather everything we could need and join you there in time." Agnes agreed before she shook Katherine, Alice and Edward's hands.
.
Davina felt that everything was way too quiet in the witches side and that something wasn't right so she immediately looked into it, asking the spirits what was going on.
"What's wrong Davina?" Marcel asked her.
"The witches are leaving town temporarily... They're going to join a fight that's coming and could be deadly to the Old ones, the Originals." She explained.
"So the rumors are true then, someone is moving against Klaus?" Marcel asked for confirmation and she nodded.
"He needs you... he needs us." She declared.
"Can't we just stop the witches from leaving?" He asked her.
"No, it's too late for that. They're even taking their sons, the trained fighters... You need to decide if you want to help save Klaus, your sire, your savior." Davina told him.
"The way you say it I feel like you think I should go." Marcel said, sitting on her bed.
"I do. And I should come with you." She insisted.
"I'll think about it." Marcel said before he left the attic of the church.
Klaus was his family, his friend, his father, his savior but didn't he flee this town, abandoning him behind for Mickeal to kill? Then again, Mickeal was a good liar and could have convinced Klaus and Rebekah that he had been killed while he believed that they had abandoned him, it would explain why they never came back. If Klaus knew that he had taken everything over, he would be mad and try to take it back, Marcel knew it, but then again he hadn't really deserved what he got, he just took it and used this opportunity to rise.
Davina did inform him that the witches were plotting his demise though and if they helped someone move against Klaus, this someone might very well help them against him later...
A few hours of thinking later, he went back to the attic and said:
"Pack your bag Davina, we're going to Forks. I'll take a few of my day-walkers with me." he told her with a smile, knowing that this was what she wanted.
"Who will you leave in charge?" She asked him.
"Thierry will handle things fine without me." Marcel replied as he turned around to pack a bag and arrange for a place to stay and a way over there.
"Wait, before you go, you should make a deal with the ones in The Gardens before our enemies do..." Davina told him.
"Good idea, I'll do it right now." He said before he left and called for a meeting with all the vampires, including the ones in the gardens that had been released temporarily and brought in front of him before they had any blood.
He explained the situation for them and told the weak desiccated vampires that if they wanted to be free before their time was up, they needed to agree to come with him and fight on the same side he did. He also informed that while he was gone he was leaving his friend Thierry in control of everything. He wasn't surprised when most of the vampires from the Garden and of his night-walkers volunteered to come. They wanted to make a good impression and knew that it was the way to do it.
Marcel ended up renting the entire motel of Forks. Of course he had been warned by the owner that it wasn't in great condition but he didn't have a choice, his vampires needed a place to stay. He also got a bus to drive everyone and Davina cast a temporary spell to allow all of the night-walkers that came with them to walk in the sun until the fight was over.
.
Elijah was in La Push, again.
He hadn't really left it ever since Leah agreed to give them a chance and the few times he did, he was with Leah and/or Seth. He got along very well with everybody and even Sue, Leah's mother, liked him and managed to look past the fact that he was a vampire. He liked the life he was leading here, even if it was clouded with the promise of a fight to harm his family.
At the moment, he was on the beach with Leah, walking silently. She had managed to convince him to wear jeans and t-shirts from time to time and made sure he knew that he was still attractive, especially in a pair of simple jeans and a white t-shirt. He was about to ask her if she wanted to go out for dinner when his cell phone rang.
"Please excuse me." He told her with a smile as he let go of her hand to answer the call.
"Hello?" He greeted.
"Elijah, it's me. Listen, I can't speak for long, you know I don't want to be involved in anything that could be dangerous for my children but I figured I should warn you..." The man on the phone said and Elijah recognized his witch friend.
"What is it?" Elijah asked him.
"All the witches of New Orleans are on the move. They'll reach your enemies by the time the fight starts." His friend informed him.
"And I'm guessing they're not coming to hurt our enemies on the other front..." The original sighted while Leah looked up worriedly, having heard everything.
"You'd be right. They made a deal with Katherine. It's all I can tell you for now old friend. Be careful." The man said before he hung up.
"We have to warn Niklaus and everyone." Elijah sighted as he lead Leah to his car.
.
While Elijah warned his family, Rosalie and Emmett were on the phone with Carlisle and Esmee, trying to convince them to come and help but they were failing.
"We can't. I'm sorry." Carlisle told them.
"How can you even say that?" Rosalie protested.
"We can't move against Edward and Alice." Esmee tried to explain.
"But it's okay to let them built an army to kill innocent people and tear Soul Mates away from each other?" Emmett said while rolling his eyes.
"We understand that what they're doing isn't right but they're still our children... We can't attack them." Esmee told them as if they were 5.
"Oh come on, they're not your children, they're stuck in their teenage years and in the middle of a temper tantrum. They need a good spanking, that's what they need." Rosalie started to raise her voice.
"You're entitled to your own opinions of course Rose, but you shouldn't be so harsh against your brother and sister, they're going through a hard time..." Carlisle scolded her over the phone.
"Going through a hard time? No, Bella is going through a hard time wondering if their attack is going to kill people she cares about, including her father. Her HUMAN father. Now, Bella is going through a hard time. Alice and Edward are simply going nuts and need to be stopped before they do something that can't be fixed. They've been given plenty of chances to repent and stop." Rosalie yelled over the phone.
"We can't talk to you when you're this upset Rose. You need to take time to breeze a little and calm down. We'll call you back in a few days." Esmee said before she hung up on the couple.
"I can't believe them..." Emmett said, astonished.
"It's always been Alice and Edward... I guess we should feel lucky that they aren't joining them." Rosalie growled angrily before the two of them decided to go hunting to calm down.
.
Charlie and Liz were talking and they were both worried about the humans of the town and of the reservation. What if the fight got out of control and some of their enemies came in town? How could they protect the humans without telling them everything?
"I guess I could use my influence with the mayor to have him organize some big meeting in town... With some magical protections and a few wolves and hybrids, a majority of the town would be safe..." Charlie suggested.
"But not everyone goes to this things, right?" Liz asked him.
"True, especially this time of year... There's also a lot of people in the woods..." He nodded.
"We could keep them out of the woods by telling them that a dangerous rabid wolf has been seen and that the hunters need to be alone in the woods to catch him." She suggested.
"Might as well take this story and change the wolf for a bear, they will buy it more easily. Especially after this spring." He agreed.
"So there's that but what about the town? How can we get them to stay locked up inside or to leave town for a while?" She wondered.
"I guess we could lie about a gas leak but it would only work in a part of town, not everywhere..." Charlie replied.
"True... What about inventing a dangerous armed man on the loose? You'll have to get your deputies to patrol in a car, we'll patrol in the other to pretend we're looking for him and everybody will stay inside..." She suggested.
"I guess it's the best we can do... With some luck it'll be raining and they'll all head to the mall or the movie theater." Charlie nodded.
"Maybe we can ask Elijah or Finn to go compel the movie theaters around and the closest mall to have some sort of special event that day...when we have a date for it of course." Liz suggested.
"That's a good idea... I just hope we'll get a fix date on time." Charlie replied, fearing the worst.
.
Rebekah and Jasper had talked a lot lately and had decided to move their relationship at a human pace to give them both time to adjust and not to move too fast. Indeed, Rebekah was worried that if they got together too fast the relationship would just end up burning down and hurting them both. She wanted, for once in her life, to do things right and take her time.
"But if you're sure you love him why wait?" Bella asked Rebekah one night as she, the Original sister, Caroline and Bree were in her room, painting each other's nails and having normal girl time.
"Because I'm not sure if I'm completely over my last love..." Rebekah replied honestly.
"Stefan? I didn't know it had been that serious..." Caroline said, surprised.
"It wasn't... Stefan isn't the one I was thinking about... I was thinking about Marcel, the one before that... Mickeal killed him before he chased my brothers and me from New Orleans..." Rebekah explained.
"I remember seeing that... Wasn't Marcel the one that Klaus adopted and raised like his son?" Bella asked, confused.
"Yes. He was, Klaus told me all about him." Bree replied.
"Why are you asking?" Rebekah asked Bella curiously.
"I'm not sure about anything but...When I saw your father attacking, at some point I looked away from Kol, worried about Marcel too. I knew he was important to all of you..." Bella started, seeing the events in her head.
"And? What is it? What did you see?" Rebekah asked her in a pressing tone as Klaus came through the door, having heard the conversation and being curious too.
"It would be easier f you all could come in my head and see it..." Bella declared as she took off her vervain necklace temporarily while Kol also joined them.
-Flashback of the dream-
Bella watched as Mickeal walked through the french quarter of New Orleans, her love's home. He had compelled the cops along with a few other humans and they were burning down buildings, shooting wooden bullets all over the place.
"Time to come out and face me boy. You need to stop hiding, I'll never stop looking for you." Mickeal yelled, calling out for Klaus as he stood in front of the Mickealson's house with a few compelled vampires.
Bella watched as Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah and Kol started gathering their most precious possessions while Marcel prepared a defense with some vampires to give them some time. Rebekah was gathering Marcel's things so he could come with them. They had all agreed on a Rendez-vous point, just in case they got separated.
While everyone was inside and about to leave, Bella curiously walked outside to see what was going on with Marcel and she watched as he did his best to fight off the compelled vampires and harmed humans.
Suddenly, she heard Klaus' voice:
"No time to waste Marcel, hurry up now we need to go."
As he said those words, Klaus and Rebekah rushed to the balcony to call back Marcel again and they watched as Mickeal, in front of their eyes, snapped his neck and planted a stake through his chest. He had a torch in his hand and his intention to set the body on fire was evident. He had a huge smile on his face.
"No!" Rebekah yelled as Klaus took her in his arms and ran away, tears in his eyes for having lost the one person outside his family he ever grew to care for.
While they ran away, instead of following, Bella stood still and watched Mickeal, having a hard time believing that a father could be so cruel toward his children. Kol wasn't around anymore, he had ran away with the rest of his siblings but Bella wondered if she'd be able to go closer and see what Mickeal did. She tried and managed to move. She ran to Marcel as Mickeal stood and cleaned his hands on a rag.
"Thank God!" Bella exclaimed when she realised that Mickeal has missed Marcel's heart.
Suddenly, Marcel took the stake out and stood up, glaring at Mickeal.
"Now boy, there's no need for violence. I just wanted you to understand that you were nothing to them. Klaus left you alone to face me while they all ran." Mickeal smirked triumphantly.
Bella really hoped that Marcel wasn't stupid enough to believe it.
"Rebekah and Klaus would never leave me behind." Marcel assured the Original father.
"And yet they did. Their survival is their priority boy, nothing else matters to them. Not even you, a pathetic orphan they took pity on in a moment of weakness once upon a time." Mickeal sneered.
"You don't know anything about them." Marcel yelled.
"Fine then, wait for them to come back. I don't care. My work here is done for now. I guess you can always get revenge by using everything they left behind.. It is yours now." Mickeal said before he turned around and ran away.
His plan had been to ruin everything for his children and Bella realised that he had done it.
Bella watched as Marcel ran as fast as he could to the arranged meeting point but saw none of the Originals. She watched as he waited and looked all around and, when eventually he realised that nobody was coming, he went back home and did just what Mickeal told him. She watched as he wrote in his journal his plan to become the king of this place, to rule things his way and she watched as he cried in anger in front of the plans he had made for the house he wanted to share with Rebekah, turning the foundation he had already built in a prison to desiccate vampires who betrayed him, like she did.
-End of Flashback-
After they left Bella's mind, the Originals were shocked.
"We mourned him for so long... He was alive all along... He's still alive..." Rebekah realised.
"He thinks we betrayed him... He believed I would leave him behind...that he didn't count..." Klaus said in a very low voice and he had never looked as human and vulnerable as he did in this instant.
"Well, when this whole fight thing is over with we'll just have to go over there and tell him the truth. Bella can even do the same mind thing so he can see it for himself." Caroline declared.
She didn't like seeing Klaus like this and wanted to cheer him up.
"You're right Love, we will." He assured her with a smile.
"I'm so screwed!" Rebekah exclaimed.
"Why? You should be happy." Bella told her.
"If Marcel is still alive then there is a chance he might still love me and that we could be happy together...but then there is Jasper..." She explained.
"You're right, you're in trouble." Caroline nodded.
"You just have to take your time and listen to your heart. Go on a couple of dates with the two of them and decide afterwards." Bella suggested.
"Exactly, like in the Bachelor." Caroline nodded.
.
While Rebekah and Klaus informed Elijah about Marcel being alive, the young vampire was driving as fast as he could in his bus to reach the small town of Forks. Davina was excited about the change of scenery and after making daylight rings for those who didn't have them already, she used her powers to try and look into the Original and the fight. All she managed to see was that they thought he was dead.
"What is it Davina?" He asked her gently after she approached him.
"I had a vision. The Originals didn't leave you behind, they believed you were dead." She told him.
"How do you know this?" He asked her.
"I saw it." She replied, sure of herself.
"They think I'm dead? Really?" He asked her, having a hard time believing it but then again, Mickeal was the kind of man cruel enough to pull it off.
"Yes, they saw Mickeal stake you in the chest after snaping your neck and he was standing over you with a torch... They ran to save themselves but they cried and I saw... They mourned you, each in their own way, for a long time." Davina explained.
"Well, aren't they in for a surprise!" Marcel exclaimed with a smile, hoping that Rebekah hadn't moved on with anyone.
But if she had, he was confident that he would be able to win her over. They were meant to be, he knew it. There was nothing and nobody he couldn't face to be finally reunited with her, especially now that he knew she had mourned him, missed him and never betrayed him and their love.
Two more chapter and it's the end...I think...
What do you think?
