Scene 13 - The Morning After

It was the next morning. 6am to be exact. Azra opened her eyes.

That's not my ceiling. This is not my bed. Where am I?

She tried to move when she realised there was a dead weight on her arm. She looked over and realised Hiram was curled up to her.

Uhm. Why am I at Hiram's? Why am I struggling to access my memory database? What exactly happened last night?

She looked down at where her right arm was supposed to be.

Uhm… WHERE IS MY ARM?

Realising if they both didn't get up soon they would both be late, she tried to shift Hiram off of her.

Hiram was in deep sleep, dreaming about almost everything and anything. Suddenly, he felt his arm move without him telling it too.

Hmm?

He thought to himself as he eyelids refused to open up. It was morning alright. The bird chirping outside his window and the constant creaks from the ceiling above him were the definite indicators. Hiram grumbled as he attempted to pry his eyes open. It was blurry at first, and all he could see was a blur figure in front of him. He proceeded to sit up as he rubbed his eyes. He looked over to the side to clarify what was next to him and immediately he realised who it was.

A-Azra?

He thought, though he didn't react at all as he was still in such a sleepy state. Hiram felt the dry drool on his chin and proceeded to rub it off with the back of his hand.

"Ew…"

He uttered, finding it a little unhygienic that he keeps doing it while he's asleep. Moments after that, he took a pause to recollect his memory of the night before.

So.. Halloween party? And then… Azra is here. Fuck.

He looked over at her and blushed slightly.

D-Did we?

Azra saw Hiram glance over at her and blush.

I bloody hope we didn't.

She slowly eased herself off of the bed and made a proper attempt at accessing her memory files. At last, she was successful.

Holy shit I made a tit out of myself!

She made a beeline for her clothes, conscious that she had to replace her arm before work. At this rate, she would only be late by half an hour. She paid no attention to Hiram as she grabbed her clothes and headed to the bathroom to change.

All Hiram did was watch her sprint towards the bathroom. He ruffled his hair lazily before hanging his legs off the edge of bed, bringing himself up so he could get up. He walked around his bed and headed towards the kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee. Although he would've helped her with what she needed, he knew realistically, he would only make it worst. After he entered the kitchen, he grabbed an empty mug from the sink and placed it in his coffee machine, waiting for it to start brewing. As he waited, he could hear noises coming from the bathroom, almost as if Azra was having a brawl with herself, though he didn't question it. Moments later the coffee was done. He held it in his hand and proceeded towards the living room, but he paused for a moment as he sipped from his cup.

What the fuck… is that?

He thought to himself as a… detached arm on the floor caught his attention. He just stood there, blinking a few times in confusion.

"U-Uhh… Azra?"

He called out, hoping that this was her arm.

It was a struggle to put her clothes on. She (obviously) had not bought other clothes with her, and thus had to put her costume back on. The tight dress was hard enough to put on with two arm's, but currently she was missing one.

How am I going to explain that one to Cyberlife?

She heard Hiram call her name, and she exited the bathroom. He was staring at her discarded arm.

Oh yeah, I chucked it across the room, didn't I?

"Uhm yeah, that's mine!" she said, walking over to pick up. A preliminary scan told her that only the wrist was broken and needed replacing, so she gingerly reattached the arm. Once attached, she then pulled at the elbow, detaching only her lower arm this time. Happy with her work, she turned back to Hiram, who had a shocked expression on his face.

I can have fun with this!

Holding her lower left arm in her right hand, she inched towards Hiram, while wiggling her detached arm at him.

That actually looks disgusting.

"Look Hiram, androids are pretty cool, right? Humans can't do this!"

Hiram gave a tiresome nod as he didn't have the energy to deal with her broken arm. It was quite obvious that he wasn't the best in the morning. In fact, he was usually quite grumpy, but in front of Azra, he tried his hardest not to show that. He managed to smile faintly before taking another sip of his coffee.

"Just give me a couple street fights in the next week or two and I'll prove you wrong."
He chuckled, raising a brow as he walked past her. Hiram carefully placed his cup on bedside and went to bring up the blinds, which then showered the entire room in light. He squinted as he did so before returning to Azra.

"Right, we're both late, but I don't care about my work as much as you do. So… you should go over to Cyberlife and get that arm fixed, yeah?

He said as he approached her, his arms crossed over his bare chest as he tilted his head, waiting for her response.

"...yeah" she replied. She glanced around the flat, making sure she had everything she needed.

"I'll see you… I'll see you whenever I guess", and she walked out of the flat, not giving Hiram a second glance as she left.

The door slammed on her way out.

Whoops. I didn't mean for the door to slam.

She walked down the corridor and called for the elevator. She was unusually moody, and she wasn't quite sure why.

She left the building and began the long walk back to her apartment to replace her hand. She was going to be late to work, but she thought she had a pretty good excuse for it. She sent Lila a message to warn her.

While she was walking back, it began to rain. She looked up into the sky and wanted to cry.

I don't understand.

Hiram raised his brows the minute she decided to slam the door on him.

"Oh...kay?"

He said, prolonging the word as he stood in place, a little taken back from her attitude this morning. Hiram didn't think he did anything wrong, all he did was go grab a coffee before walking over into his living to find an arm. As much as he wanted to off and ask her what was wrong, he couldn't be bothered. Maybe it was just one of those days where Azra needed a break from him. Maybe she was tired of seeing his face. All these assumptions were going on in his head because he couldn't help but think of all the times he did have a special someone in his life, and all of them left just the way she did. He sighed to himself as he walked over to his bed, falling into it before he cradled a pillow in his arms.

"Great..."

He grumbled.

Azra walked into her apartment and made a beeline for where she kept spare parts. Once her new hand was in place, she couldn't help but heave a sigh in relief.

I'm whole again.

It was 7:30am.

If I get a taxi, I might make it in for work on time!

She quickly ordered a taxi and sprinted down the hallway to the elevator. Unknown to her, she had not shut her door properly. She bundled herself into a taxi and relaxed while she journeyed herself to work.

Although she was in a bad mood, she couldn't help but be thankful to be able to have moods. And she was thankful that she was an android in her position. Not many androids were as lucky as her.

As she got to work, she made a beeline for Lila.

"Lila, I have so much to tell you!"

It was about 10am. This was the time Hiram decided he wanted to get to work. He wore his usual work outfit, which comprised of his white shirt, a black jacket, trousers and shoes that went along with it. One the way to his building, he was just about to pass the main Cyberlife building in which Azra was working in. Usually Hiram would peek in or decide that he wanted to chat up with Azra before going back to work, but today, he just wasn't for it. He walked right past and headed towards his building. A couple minutes later, he entered his office and set his briefcase down on the desk before dropping into his seat. He sighed, taking a moment to look around his plain, empty office. What went through his mind was not much, but just a couple gloomy thoughts. He couldn't complain, this was his mindset when he arrived at work. After awhile, he opened his briefcase and brought out a couple tablets filled with his written articles and articles he was currently writing.

"Let's just kill time Hiram… kill time."
He said as he began working.

/Lila/ There is no time for gossip today Azra. We have a newbie coming in and it's your job to train him this week!

Azra was excited.

"Oooh, what's he like?"

/Christoffer/ Why don't you see for yourself? He said in a deep swedish accent

Why do people always sneak up on me like that?

Turns out, the newbie had been standing right behind her. She turned around to face him. He was an android, taller than her, and was blonde with blue eyes.

I've never heard of an android with an accent before.

She stuck her hand out to shake his hand.

/Christoffer/ You must be Azra, I have heard a lot about you!

"I hope all good things!" she chuckled. She guided him around the counter and showed him where he would be working. He sat down and she leant over at him.

"So this is…"
