Rose's Epiphany
"What were you thinking?!" Rose's voice had reached a new level of pitch as she marched toward me. "We have been exposed. What are we going to do? He is going to tell everyone!"
Sighing I tuned my attention toward her. "He said he wouldn't say anything."
"He's lying." Rose growled.
"Alice?"
Alice's eyes grew blank for a fraction of a second. "No sign of major exposure. He doesn't seem to be telling anyone. He keeps giving anyone who asks the story Bella gave to him."
Rose took a menacing step toward Alice, dipping into a small crouch. "Alice…" she growled. "This does not concern you."
Rolling her eyes, Alice shrugged and walked toward the house.
I watch as all of my family walks toward the house leaving me in the hands of my sister.
"Thanks a lot, guys. I thought we were family. I thought you loved me." I heard Emmett chuckle from up in his room. "Rose." I raised my hands, trying to reason.
"No!" She yelled at me. "What you did was blatant exposer. You have risked our whole family to save that boy."
"Rose. I couldn't let him… If he had…" I didn't know how to handle this. My mind was confused. I don't know why I risked everything to save that boy. All I could think at the time was Not him. But that would not be good enough for Rose, I had to tell her something. "Rose. If he had been hit, I don't think I could have controlled myself once his blood had been spilled." The excuse seemed lame to me, but I could see Rose pause.
"It was either exposer to one guy or to the whole school." She narrowed her eyes at me.
"He is going to tell." She growled.
"No. He promised and I have a feeling he will keep it."
"We should just take care of him right now and leave town." What? "He hit his head pretty hard we can make it look like he went in his sleep. I could do it. I have before." WHAT!?
"NO!" I was the one growling now. I had even gone as far as to lower into a crouch. "You will not touch him."
"All he is, is a risk. To us. To our existence. He will expose us and we will have to flee. We could never come back here again." She circled, trying to get around me. I matched her, step for step. She was not going to get the upper hand on me.
"He will not say anything." I growled. "Alice proved that."
"The future can change."
"NO! Not his. He will live. YOU WILL NOT TOUCH HIIM!" my voice boomed through the surrounding trees.
"Oh my goodness!" she gasped. "Bella?" She stretched up, leaving her crouch. She was suddenly right in front of me, looking at me curiously.
"What?" Now I was confused. But I didn't leave my crouch.
"You love him."
"What?!"
