CHAPTER 14

Merlin woke up to find himself in complete darkness. No it was not dark; his eyes were covered my a cloth. He went to reach out to remove it only to find that his arms were tied down. He sighed, frustrated how often this happened. He moved around to find his legs were free and he felt something soft under his bear feet. He was on a bed. Who ever had him tied up wanted him to be comfortable.

He heard footsteps and a voice he knew to well "Gaius said to give Merlin this draft every few hours to keep him asleep."

Gwain, it was Gwain's voice. His mind flashed back to him finding out that Gaius knew about him helping Morgana. The knights were involved so Gaius must have told Arthur. Was Arthur going to have him executed? If not then why was he tied up? Surly Gaius hated the idea he was working for Morgana but, Merlin never thought Gaius would turn him in. He had to get out and go to Morgana. He needed to tell her that her plan had failed. He could not die, if he died then Morgana would not get what she wanted.

He started struggling at his bounds and was about to use magic when he realized the ropes were enchanted. No magic could get him out. Suddenly his mouth was forced open and a sweet potion was forced back down his throat. Everything once again went black.

ARTHUR

Percival told him what happened to Merlin. Gaius had took precautions if this happened and whipped up some strong sleeping droughts if needed. Gaius stated that if he worked through the night then hopefully he would have the cure by morning. Arthur wished he could be there for his friend and hopefully get him to see some sense, but he was dealing with the other king.

Someone told the guards that the other king was holding magic in his chambers. The Guards searched his room and practically tore it apart. The king was outraged and Arthur had a pretty good idea who did it. Gaius had warned him Merlin might try to start a war. Which was exactly why he had two of his most trusted knights watch over him. Addmitly, Arthur was kind of impressed. Merlin had gotten away with it without getting caught even while being watched all day. HE made a mental note to stop underestimating his man servant. In the mean time, he had bridges to build.

MERLIN

The next time he opened his eyes he saw Gwain sitting over him. He tried to sit up only to remember he was tied down. Instead of panicking this time he simply sighed. He needed to think a way out of this. Hopefully if he stayed calm he could be prevent being drugged again.

"Morning Merlin." Gwain said in a cheery voice

"Nice to see you Gwain." Merlin replied

"Ok, I was told to keep you asleep. Yet, I think that you deserve to talk." Gwain stated "Any Attempts to escape and the drug goes down your throat

His mind searched for an excess. After years of living in Camelot, it had become habit. He had to get away.

"I know that it looks bad, but I swear that I can explain. Gauis has been possessed by a goblin again. He is planning on killing Arthur. You have to believe me, I have been framed." Merlin used his best 'trust me' voice that normally worked.

Gwain nodded as if understanding. Merlin felt a small twitch of hope. He just had to get Gwain to cut him free. He would use his magic to knock Gwain out and he could seek out Morgana. He could hold her in his arms. Watching Camelot being destroyed would hurt him terribly, but Morgana would make him feel better.

Morgana was so beautiful. She would look even prettier once she was in royal dresses instead of her old witch dress. It would be amazing to run his fingers through her hair once she was able to brush through her hair. She would love to be able to wear all of Camelot's jewelry. She would-

Huh," Gwain said, interrupting his thoughts," I can't believe I did not realize this earlier."

"Yes, we have to stop the goblin we-"

"We have been friends for so long. How did I not get that." Gwain met Merlin's eyes "I never thought that you were such a good liar. If I was not sure of what happened then I would most likely would have believed you. I never would have let you wake up if I knew you were this good. I worry if I let you talk any longer then I might actually start to believe you."

"Sorry Merlin"

In a moment Gwain opened a small bottle in his hand and forced the potion into his mouth The world faded away.
