And so the adventure begins! And I have finally gotten myself into a rhythm! As you all I know I like to keep as close to the original episode and writing as possible, it's just easier for me, which means rewatching episodes from the start. The only issue being I also want to get caught up on episodes and I've got like 160 episodes till I'm updated.

So the plan is watch new episodes on one day, write chapter the next, watch episode, write chapter etc etc. And of course real life takes priority. But I will defintially be getting several chapters out a week.

Again just a disclaimer, the only thing I own is Leo, the only original work is Leo's parts and dialogue, everything else belongs to their respected copy right holders, blah blah blah

And I'm curious, what do you guys think of Leo so far? Are you liking the direction of the story? I like getting feedback about what's working and what's not so I can improve on future writing and what not. Anyway that's all from me for now.

As fate would have it the younger of the Monkey siblings was as hopeless at navigating as her brother. Turns out she had no idea how to read a map properly, she just couldn't work out which way she was meant to be looking at it...or where they even were on the damn thing. Her brother wasn't worried, he just rowed until an ocean current caught them, dragging them along.

"Dawn Island isn't even on this damn thing!" she grumbled as she leaned over the map, "How the hell are we meant to figure out where we're going when we don't even know where we are?"

"Shishishishi You worry too much 'mouto" Luffy leaned back, letting the ocean current to the work for them,

"I worry the right amount" she shot back, "You don't worry enough"

Her brother just laughed her off, returning to his relaxing.

They fell into a comfortable silence after that, Luffy resting his feet on Leo's lap as Leo tried, and failed, to figure out how the god damned map worked over top of them. Above them gulls cried out, floating along the air currents. The ocean was making a loud but muffled roaring noise...Leo froze. Glancing up from the map she quickly stood, sending their small boat rocking,

"Oi what's wrong?" Her brother asked.

They were heading straight towards a massive whirlpool,

"Oh you've got to be shitting me" Leo groaned,

"Oh ho! Look at that!" Luffy grinned, "We;re being pulled in"

"Thank you for the update captain obvious" she groaned before throwing herself down, grabbing the oars, rowing frantically, trying to move away from the watery vortex of death. She only succeeded in making the boat spin in circles,

"I don't think it's working..."

"I can see that!" she snapped.

It was no use, they were caught in the whirlpools current. They were going to be dragged down, crushed and drowned and they hadn't even been at sea for an entire day yet! Leo stopped rowing to curl into a little ball. Arms wrapped themselves around her waist, the girl yelping as she was lifted up and dropped into the barrel they had bought with them,

"What the hell Luffy?"

"Scoot over!" he grinned cheerfully as he squished himself in,before grabbing the barrel lid and sealing them in.

"This is your bright idea?" she hissed as her legs were squashed and her body pushed against the barrel. Thank the gods her brother was made of rubber and could be squished in ways normal humans couldn't, "Hide in a barrel and hope we float?"

"Yep!" she could feel her brothers hot breath on her face, it was becoming very warm very quickly.

"We're going to die" she whimpered

And then things got worse. Their boat capsized, sending the barrel into the water. The whirlpool spun it a few times, before spitting it back out into calmer waters. The two teenagers were shaken about, knocking against the walls of the barrel and whacking each other,

"I hate you so much right now!" the younger of the two moaned, her stomach trying to untie itself, "Oh I think I'm gonna puke"

When the barrel started to jolt again Leo let out another groan,

"Oh what now?"

Her stomach jolted suddenly, as if the barrel was being lifted,

"It's really heavy" she heard a mans voice, muffled through the wood, oh thank god they were saved!...unless they were caught by pirates...or worse marines! "That must mean it's full of wine! And it's now ours!"

She didn't hear the rest of what was being said, the idiots dropped the barrel, causing the teen to smack her head against the wood. She moaned at the ringing in her ears...and the snoring? A test poke confirmed her suspicions. Luffy had fallen asleep, with his legs tangled in hers, face pressed firmly between her arm pit and right boob. She glared at her brother, of course he'd sleep through a barrel ride through a whirlpool,

"I should have set out with Ace" she grumbled, accepting her fate, "But nooo you couldn't settle for anything less than co-captain"

And then the barrel began to roll, the tight feeling in her stomach returning. Once they were free of this cursed barrel she was going to kick someone. Hard. Probably Luffy, but at this point anyone would work. They came to a crashing stop, and this time remained still. From what Leo could gather they had been pulled onto a ship that was now being attacked by pirates. Yup she should have set out with Ace.

And they were rolling AGAIN.

"Hey runt!" Oh goodie more voices, "You weren't thinking of hiding down here and slacking off again, were you?"

"N-Not at all! I was taking this big wine barrel above deck." Came the most annoying voice

"We'll help lighten your load" the first voice chuckled

"We're thirsty" At last! The hope of freedom from this wooden trap!

"You can't! If Alvida-sama find out, you'll be killed!" Ok so definitely do not want to be found by this Alvida.

"We won't have to worry if you keep your mouth shut. Right Coby"

And oh lord the barrel was being moved again. That's it, someone was getting their asses kicked.

"It's pretty heavy"...that one. That one was going to get it.

"I can't wait!"

"Keep your shirt on. I'm gonna smash it open right now"

The end of the rope has been reached. Leo growled as she shoved her brother up, who chose the perfect time to wake up. Bursting out of the barrel with a wide grin he shouted,

"What a great nap!"

Hissing angrily Leo shoved her brother out of the barrel, before throwing herself over the edge of it, wobbling as feeling started to return to her numb legs, flinching at the painful pins and needles.

"What's this?" Her brother looked down at the man he knocked unconscious.

"Who the hell are you guys?"

"Who the hell are you?!" They shouted back

"That guy's gonna catch a cold if he sleeps on the floor" Luffy dusted himself off.

The pirates may be slow, but they eventually caught on that maybe this boy was an energy,

"You little punk!" One growled drawing his sword pointing it at Luffy, "You should know better than to screw around with pirates!"

Of course her brother just ignored them. Leo would have dealt to them herself, carrying out her internal promise of kicking someone's arse...but she was still trying to regain the feeling and use back in her legs,

"I'm really hungry. Is there any food around?" he asked the pink haired boy,

"Stop ignoring me!" One of the pirates shouted,

"Pft like that's gonna happen" Leo muttered to herself, stretching her leg out.

"You little shit!" Ahh there it was, the opportunity she was waiting for. "Die!"

Leaning down she picked up a plank of wood, weighing it in her hands for a moment, before striking one of the pirates about to attack her brother. It felt so good to release the tension that had built up from being stuck in that barrel by smashing a piece of said barrel over a pirates head. Repeatedly. Luffy turned, hitting their swords, snapping them in two,

"What'd you do that for?" he sounded so confused

"They're pirates rubber-brains" Leo smacked his arm, Luffy whined rubbing the spot, "Oh it didn't hurt you big baby"

"You've become so mean 'mouto!" He whined, "Are you on your period?"

She turned to glare at her brother,

"That's a yes then"

Instead of taking her aggression out on her brother she just hit the pirate again.

"Wh-who are you?!" the pirate cried,

"Me?" Luffy crossed his arms grinning, "I'm Monkey D. Luffy. Nice to meet you"

Leo grinned, more evilly than her brother, resting the plank of wood on her shoulder,

"And I'm Monkey D. Leo. It's been a pleasure hitting you"

The two remaining pirates shot to their feet, grabbing their unconscious crew mate and made a run for it, screaming the entire way,

"Tch, pathetic" Leo muttered,

"'mouto, you're too much like Ace when your on your period" Luffy whined

Leo turned, pointing the plank of wood at him like it was a deadly weapon,

"One more word about my monthly bleeding and I swear to god Luffy"

"Alright alright" he waved her off, "What was their problem anyway?

"You have to run!" The pink haired boy cried from behind them, "When they bring the others, you'll be killed?"

"I'm still hungry, though"

"Trust me" she poked the kid with her bit of wood, suddenly missing her hammer, "No one gets between Luffy and food. We're safe"

"How can you be thinking about food right now!?" The boy cried "There's a whole crew of pirates up on deck!"

Leo groaned, "Well isn't that fantastic" she grumbled, "Day one and we're already facing the competition"

She noticed Luffy sniffing the air, obviously have located the direction of food. Now that she was not longer being tossed around like ice in a cocktail shaker her stomach had settled enough to inform her it was indeed time for lunch. All she had to do was follow Luffy's nose.

The pink haired boy grabbed onto her brother, trying to stop him from going in the 'wrong direction,

"You have to go this way!" the boy cried "Wait! You're going the wrong way!"

"Seriously kid give it up" Leo muttered as she followed them, "Nothing gets between Luffy and food"

Her predictions were right. Luffy found the pantry. The boy grinned happily,

"Food!Food! Food!" he chanted happily, "Food! Banzai! Food! Yay~ Yay~"

"Maybe we'll be safe here" the kid muttered,

"You need to ease up a bit kid" Leo commented as she jumped down to join her brother, grabbing an apple to munch on. Better not risk anything else considering how many foods she was allergic too, "Lord and Nii-chan says I worry too much"

"You do!" Luffy pipped up with a mouth full of food, stuffing as much into his face as he could.

"I-I'm Coby" Ah so pink haired boy has a name. You're Luffy-San and Leo-San right?" While Luffy didn't acknowledge him Leo nodded. Now she had calmed down she felt much more rational. In her defense, being stuck in that barrel would make anyone irritated,

"That was amazing back there. How'd you do that?" The kid, Coby continued

"These are good!" Luffy grinned stuffing more apples in his face,

"They are, so don't eat them all!" Leo snatched a few for herself, "So what? Is this a pirate ship or something? Are we raiding a pirates pantry?" she giggled to herself at the thought.

"No, not this ship. It's a cruise ship being raided by Alvida-sama"

"The person who'll kill you for drinking wine" Leo clarified, Coby nodded,

"Hmm? Oh well. It doesn't matter. Are there any rowboats on this ship" Luffy continued,

"Urgh please no more rowboats, can't we get a proper boat since time?" Leo whined,

"Th-There should be, but..."

"My ship" "Fishing boat" "Got sucked into the whirlpool"

"Eh! That giant whirlpool! You should be dead!"

"He's lucky he's not" Leo shot her brother a glare

"Yeah, it surprised the hell outta me!" Luffy grinned,

"Are you one of those pirates nakama?" he pressed

Coby's entire face fell. Leo wanted to hit her brother, this was obviously a sore subject for the kid,

"It was a fateful day."...then again with how dramatic the kid is, she couldn't really feel too sorry for him, "That day, I was going out fishing, so I left my town and found a rowboat." Ah this story included a rowboat, it could only end badly, "But is so happened that the rowboat belonged to these pirates...and so for the past two years I've been working like a slave for them so they won't kill me"

"Why didn't you just jump out of the boat?" Leo asked

"You're a bumbling idiot!" Luffy added on

"How can you say that?"

"You could just run away!"

"Or you know just jumped out of the fishing boat" Leo pointed out again

"That's impossible!Impossible!Impossible!"

And there went all the possible pity she had for the boy. To just give up without even trying! 'Oh god, I really do become like Ace' Leo realized in mild horror.

"When I think about what would happen if Alvida-sama found out..."Oh he was still talking, "My legs start shaking and my heart just..."

"Oh, so you're a gutless coward too?" Luffy grinned, "I don't like you"

"Shesh and you call me mean" Leo smirked at her brother, "But he's right, we don't like cowards. It's a waste of a perfectly good life"

"You're right. You're absolutely right" Coby agreed to the siblings surprise, "If only I had the courage to drift across the ocean in a barrel"

"To be fair that's more stupidity than courage" Leo had to say,

"There's something I'd like to do..."

"mmm?" Luffy hummed but didn't say anything. Leo leaned over her brother, resting her head on his shoulder to watch the pink haired boy,

"Excuse me, Luffy-san, Leo-san, but why are you so eager to sail the sea?"

The siblings grinned brightly,

"I'm gonna become the Pirate King!" Luffy declared,

"And I'm going to help him"

Leo couldn't help but laugh at the boys reaction, oh how she loved the look of shock on peoples faces when Luffy proudly stated his dream,

"The Pirate King?!"

"Well he can't be the pirate queen, he doesn't have the right bits" Leo grinned over Luffy's shoulder

"Yup"

"Seriously?"

"As a heart attack" Leo continued to grin, this was fun,

"Then, Luffy-san, are you a pirate?"

"We both are"

"Do you have a crew"

"Nope. I got Leo, but she's my vice captain, so it doesn't count. We're about to start recruiting"

"Neh, Nii-chan I think you broke him" Leo muttered as she poked the boys frozen face.

"The Pirate King is someone who has everything in the world!That means claiming the treasure which represents wealth, fame, and power..."Luff nodded along to the boys words, "One Piece, the greatest treasure in the world!"

"Yup"

"Worlds most difficult treasure hunt" Leo grinned

"'yeah'?!" Coby shouted "All the pirates in the world are trying to claim that treasure!"

"And so are we!"

"It's Impossible!Impossible! Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"

Leo was started to get really sick of hearing the word, and very irritated with the cowardly boy,

"You want to stand at the top of the Great Age of Pirates?! It can't be done! Impossible! Impossible!"

Leo grabbed her plank of wood, hitting Coby in the head with it, while Luffy punched him at the same time.

"Why did you hit me?" the boy whimpered

"Just because" Luffy stated

"Because you were pissing me off" Leo growled

"But it doesn't matter. I'm used to it" the kid started to laugh brokenly, oh god she was actually starting to pity the poor sap,

"It's not about possible or impossible." Luffy spoke up, "I'm doing it because I want to. I decided to become the Pirate King and if I die fighting for it, then that's that!"

"You see Coby" Leo took over, taking a seat on a barrel, "Wither we find One Piece or not, wither Luffy becomes Pirate King or nor, wither you fulfill your dreams or not...none of it matters. It doesn't matter if we fail, because that's not the important part" resting the face in her plank of wood she smiled softly, "What matters is taking control of your own destiny, charting your own course and living a life of no regrets...being free. That's what matters."

Coby stared up at the teens in wonder, their words hitting something deep inside him, lighting a flame in his chest.

"Ok, Now that I'm full, maybe I should go get a boat" At just like that Luffy walked toward the pantry exit,

"Tch You? Full? The impossible has truly occurred"

"Neh you're so mean when you're on your..."Luffy fell silent as she raised her piece of wood threateningly,

"Maybe they'll give us one if we ask nicely" Luffy continued, "I hope they're nice"

"This Alivda kills people who drink wine, I don't think they're very nice Nii-chan"

"I never thought of it that way" Coby finally came out of his shock, "Can I do that, too...if I'm ready to die?"

"What?"

"It's not about being ready to die" Leo pointed out, "It's not letting the fear that you may die control you"

"Maybe...Maybe I can join the marines.."

"The marines?" well they certainly weren't expecting that answer

"Yes! It's always been my dream to capture murderous villains! Ever since I was a kid! Can I do it?"

"How would I know?" Luffy laughed

"Only you can figure that one out" Leo smiled

"I will do it!" huh the kid had a spine in there after all, "If I can shed this life as a slave, I'll escape and then Alvida-sama...No! Alvida will be the first one I capture!"

Leo let out a joyful laugh, grinning widely at the boys sudden burst of spirit, she liked this side of the kids much more than his cowardly whimpering side.

Strangely, mare seconds after the boy shouted his dream the ceiling caved in, sending wood and debris flying at them. Coby scrambled away from the center of the chaos while Luffy tugged Leo back by the back of her shirt, pulling her out of dangers way.

"So, you're going to join him..." A woman's voice came from the screen of dust, "And catch who!huh Coby!?"

And just like that Coby was reduced by to his fearful quivering self. The dust cleared to reveal...the fatest and most ugly...woman? Leo squinted, yeah it was a woman...lord she was uglier than Dadan was! The woman turned her gaze to the siblings, who just stood there watching,

"You're not Pirate Hunter Zoro"

"No...we're not" Leo replied slowly, as if the woman were stupid

"Zoro?" Luffy asked

"Coby!" the hag screamed at the kid, "Who's the most beautiful woman on the sea?"

Leo had to force herself not to gag, this woman was many things, beautiful was not one of them. Or nice smelling.

"Wh-Why of course..." the boy stuttered as Leo's heart dropped, so all that talk was just talk...shame

"Who's this fat old hag?" And leave it to Luffy to point that out,

"I thought you said she could fit in a row boat Coby?" Ok Leo couldn't help but join in. Hang for a lamb hang for a sheep.

The expression of shock and horror on everyone's faces was well worth the beating that was coming their way, Leo couldn't help the grin on her face as she readjusted her plank of wood. It wasn't her hammer (which was now at the bottom of a whirlpool) but it was something. She watched fascinated as veins started to pop out on the woman's forehead,

"BRATS!" The woman screamed, bringing her spiked club down at them. They dodged easily, Luffy going one way, Leo going the other way.

They landed in front of Coby, Luffy crouched grinning at the boy,

"Let's go!" he grinned grabbing the boys hand before jumping up out through the hole in the deck,

"Oi wait up asshole!" Leo shouted after her brother, using the pirate hag's shoulder as a step before jumping out after him.

They landed on deck, where there were more armed pirates waiting for them. They tried attack the raven haired siblings, but simply could not land a hit. Luffy would dodge before sending a punch or head butt their way, Leo would duck under a blow before ramming her bit of wood up into a pirates arm joints. When one got too close to grabbing her she sent out a booted foot right between his legs. He crumbled instantly. She was grinning the entire time,

"I haven't had this much fun in ages!" she happily called smacking another pirate in the head.

One pirate tried to attack her brother by jumping at him from behind, she didn't bother calling out, he already knew as as stepped to the side, the pirates strike missing him completely,

"Attacking from behind isn't fair!" he shouted tossing the pirate into his threw mates, knocking them down like bowling pins,

"Ding Ding 30 points to Nii-chan!" she grinned, before noticing the crowd of pirates behind them. Squeaking she made a run for it, Luffy close behind,

"Attacking all at once isn't fair!" he called

"They're pirates! Pirates don't play fair!" Leo shouted behind her

Luffy grabbed onto one of the masts as he kept running. And continued to run. His arm stretching as he did. The pirates all stopped, staring at the stretch arm, before starting to shout. Luffy stopped after a certain distance, arm unable to stretch any more,

"Just kidding!" he grinned

Leo wrapped one arm around her brothers shoulder, giving him a wide grin,

"Gomu gomu no..."

"Gale..."

They both prepared their attacks as Luffy let them go flying,

"ROCKET!"

"SLINGSHOT!"

As Luffy went flying into the crowd of pirates, slamming into with his rubber body, Leo had let go of her brother moments after they passed the mast, the force of which slingshoting her forward. Using the plank of wood she clubbed the pirates with enough force to knock out those directly in her path.

"What?!"

The duo stood up, Leo dusting herself off and picking up the now broken bit of wood,

"Aww and I liked planky" she moaned dropping it on the ground again,

"Luffy-san, what are you?" It was Coby who asked the question

"Me? I'm a rubberman." Leo hooked her finger in her brothers cheek, stretching it out showing off his rubbery powers,

"Yup, Nii-chan is made 100% out of rubber"

"Rubberman? That's..."

"I swear to god Coby if the word 'impossible' leaves your mouth" Leo started.

But it didn't. The kid just scurried to hide behind them. While it was nice to know he had faith in the, it did turn crazy hag's attention to them.

"You've eaten a Devil's fruit?" said hag asked

Leo rolled her eyes at the stupid question,

"Yeah, I ate the Gomu Gomu fruit"

"I see. I've heard the rumors, but I never thought they really exited. You seem pretty strong. Are you bounty hunters?"

"Nope"

"We're pirates!"

"A pirate? All by yourselves?"

"For now, but I'll find a crew eventually"

"Yeah we only started this morning, ya can't rush these things"

"Let's see" he turned to Leo, "I think we agreed on ten Nakama?"

"Yeah sounds about right. Nice even number"

"I see" Leo really didn't like the other pirates laugh, "So you're a pirate too. That makes us enemies doesn't it?"

"Well it sure as hell doesn't make us allies" probably shouldn't be provoking the woman with the giant spiked club, but oh well.

"L-Luffy-san, Leo-san, we have to run"

"Why?"

"Not happening"

"You saw the power of that iron club, didn't you? She's the most powerf..." he stopped mid-sentence staring into Luffy's blank face, before shifting to Leo's unimpressed smirk"

"The most what?" Alvida prompted

"The...The..The..." Leo watched in fascination as Coby screwed his face up "The most horrible, stinking old hag of all!" he screamed right into her face.

Ok she liked him again, her grin grew as her brother started laugh, she joined him, oh the hag's face was priceless!

"What was that?" the pirate snarled

"I-I'm going to enlist in the marines! I'll enlist and I'll capture pirates!"

"Do you know what you're saying!"

"I do! I'll do what I've always wanted to do! I'll join the Marines. I'll join the marines and I'll capture you!"

"You little brat!" The pirate screamed, lifting her club bringing it down to crush the pink haired boy, who screamed the entire time.

"Well said" Luffy grinned as he stood in front of Coby,

"Good you you kid" Leo smiled as she stood behind them, tugging the boy back, "Let Nii-chan take it from here"

The club came down, hitting Luffy squarely in the head. Leo smirked,

"You're spikes are way too blunt" she commented,

"That won't work!" Luffy's own grin grew

"What?!"

"He's rubber you stupid boat troll" Leo rolled her eyes

Hitting the club away he stretch his arm out,

"Gomu gomu no...PISTOL!" The arm came flying back, hitting Alvida right in the stomach, sending her flying. Literally flying all the way off the boat and into the ocean,

"Woo! Score 1 to the Monkey brothers, score nil for the old hag!" Leo cheered.

"Oi" Luffy turned his gaze to the remaining pirates, completely serious now, "Give Coby a boat"

"He's going to join the Marines" Leo leaned on her brothers shoulder, giving them a feral grin, "So best let him go"

The pirates were all so scared shitless they immediately agreed,

"Luffy-san...Leo-san"

The moment was interrupted by canon fire, the shock waves shaking the ship, nearly sending them flying to the ground. Leaning over the railing to get a better a look Leo blinked,

"Oh hey the Marines..."

"Perfect timing! Go on over!"

Leo sighed at her brothers ignorance, following him as he jumped over the railing,

"We're pirates! We gotta run!"

"Why do I get a feeling there's going to be a lot of running during this adventure"

"What!? With everything going on here, they'd arrest me before I could enlist!"

"Well hurry up then!" Leo called over her shoulder as they rushed towards the row boats,

It took a couple of minutes to find them,

"Alright get it!" Luffy called, climbing in

"Nii-chan we gotta lower it into the water first!" Leo said, but climbed in none the less,

"No time!"

"What do you meeaaaa!" she ended up screaming as the boat just fell. Straight down. Into the water.

'Well at least THIS boat has a sail on it'

By some miracle they managed the avoid the marines and escape to the safety of the open ocean,

"We managed to get away"

"That was fun!" Luffy laughed

"I hate you all" Leo grumbled as she nursed the bump on her head, she had hit the small boat mast during the fall.

"Excuse me Luffy-san"

"yeah?"

"If you want to claim One Piece, that means you're heading to the Grand Line, right?"

"Yeah"

"That place is called the graveyard of pirates"

"Yeah that's why I need a strong crew"

"And someone who can read a map!" Leo added from her spot,

"That Pirate Hunter guy...what's he like"

Leo snapped her gaze to her brother, knowing exactly what he was planning

"You mean Zoro?I heard that he's being held at a marine base"

"What? He's pretty weak then"

"Not worth the effort then" Leo muttered before stretching out, pulling her goggles down so they hung around her neck she carefully grabbed Luffy's hat off his head, before leaning back and placing it over her eyes, "Wake me up when we get there then"

"Not at all! He's a terrifying beast of a man!" Coby shouted

"Why are you asking me this?"

"He's going to ask the poor bastard to join our crew"\

"You're going to do something reckless again!"

Leo snorted,

"Nii-chan is never NOT doing something reckless"

"Neh! Nii-chan you're so mean!"

"Shush, 'm trying to nap"
