Chapter 14

Firefight

After some time Blake decided to lighten the mood for Ruby.

"This is the oldest part of Ironwood. Did you know it was originally a fort to be used as a early warning facility in case Vacuo invaded?" Blake said to Ruby.

"Oh really? Huh. yeah, wow. You know i like history too, and maybe when this is all over, you and i can stop by the souvenir shop together. But right now i just wanna find some rockets." Ruby says back.

From the looks of it when Blake looked back she was not amused.

"Don't tempt me. We are going to the morgue." Blake said while pointing the A9 at Ruby's face again.

Ruby then nods in agreement.

Then after a short time of walking Blake found the hatch that leads to the outside of the morgue.

Blake then hands back the A9 to Ruby.

"You sure you're ready for this?" Blake asks.

"I'll do my best." Ruby says back.

Blake then cocks her head.

" Your best? Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fuck the MVP." Blake said back.

As if remembering something Ruby had this to say.

"Jaune was the MVP." Ruby says back.

"Really?" Blake asks with a shocked look on her face.

"Yeah." Ruby says as she loads a round in her gun.

Back to the command center.

"Locators have them approaching the morgue, ma'am." Fox says to Weiss.

"Come on, come on you can do it, Ruby." Weiss says.

Back at the island.

Then Ruby and Blake then entered the morgue quietly, at first they saw nothing but then they rounded a corner and saw the prize, one of the missile's sitting their unguarded, or so Ruby thought.

What she didn't see is one person sitting next to it sharpening his knife, then they saw each other but Blake was ready.

Blake then grabbed a knife from her side, and before Ruby could raise her weapon, Blake threw her knife.

"AHHH!" was the guy had all time to say as the knife embedded into his throat causing him to bleed out.

Kill Cinder's henchmen cause knife to the throat.

"You must never hesitate." Blake said to Ruby.

But what they fail to notice was the guy wasn't alone, to his left another guard raised his rifle and began to fire.

"RATTATAT, RAATTAT!" the rifle spouted it's rounds.

Then both Ruby and Blake responded.

"BOOM! BOOM!" Ruby's A9 said as it firered it's rounds out.

"Take cover!" Blake said to Ruby.

When Ruby was behind cover, she started blind firing in hopes of getting him.

"RATT ATAT, RATTT IT TAT!" another burst from the auto rifle.

"BOOM! BOOM!" the A9 said back.

But for whatever reason the bad guy ran from cover and not too soon either Ruby's rounds came close to hitting him.

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!" Ruby fired again and when she got down again she found Blake reloading her SMG.

This time the bad guy found where they were hiding and fired at them, causing debris to fly everywhere.

"RATT TAA TAA RATT TA!, BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!" Both Blake and Ruby decided to fire at the same time.

Then Ruby saw it briefly something where the bad guy was hiding a small explosion happened causing him to get out of cover and next to the rocket.

"I think you're shooting too close to the rocket. Him, but not the rocket." Ruby said to Blake as a caution.

"Any other news ?" Blake asks as she pushes a drawer out of the desk they were hiding behind to make a new firing port.

"RATTTA TAAT RATTTATA!" Blake's SMG said.

"Do not hit the rocket! Do not hit the rocket." Ruby says in a panic.

Then the guy they were shooting at then stood up with dual AR's and just unloaded without a care in the world.

Blake then dropped to her belly and fired into his toes causing him to drop.

Then he started to prime a grenade.

"I got a little something for ya." he said.

Then Blake looked up and shot at a AC unit which caused it to drop on him.

"AHHH! CRUNCH!" was all Ruby heard from her end.

Cinder's henchman cause: crushed by a AC unit.

"Well get up there and do your work." Blake said as she secures the area.

Ruby then got up close to see Blake's kill.

"Oh, yeah okay. That's just about the most awful thing i've ever seen." Ruby said as she looks way.

Ruby then climbs up on the table where the rocket was and opened up the casing to find the T.C canister.

"Blake hold this." Ruby said as she climbs down from the table.

Blake then grabs hold of the canister, but Ruby holds on just a little longer.

"The second you don't respect this stuff it will kill you put it over there." Ruby says as she hand it off to Blake.

Then Ruby started on the first one but was getting bothered by something.

"You've been around a lot of corpses. Is that normal?" Ruby asks while pointing to the body.

Blake then looks at it.

"What the feet thing?" Blake asks.

"Yeah the feet thing." Ruby says.

"Yeah that happens." Blake says all to casually.

"Well i'm having kind of a hard time concentrating. Can you do something about it?" Ruby asks.

"Well like what? Kill him again?" Blake asks.

"Listen i'm just a biochemist. And most of the time i work in a glass jar and lead a very uneventful life. I drive a car known as a Rebellion a red one, it's old but it does it's thing. But what i'm dealing with here, is one of the most deadly substances on Remnant has ever known. So what do you say you cut me some friggin slack?" Ruby asks/challenges Blake.

"Ok do your thing." Blake says as she backs away.

Ruby then composes herself and grabs the top of the unit and begins to dismantle it.

"A really elegant string-of-pearls configuration. Unfortunately, incredibly unstable. I like the color." Ruby says.

"Well, what exactly does this stuff do?" Blake asks with a worried look on her face.

"Well the rocket renders it aerosol, it will take out 50 blocks killing everyone in it." Ruby answers back.

"Really? And what happens if you drop one?" Blake asks.

"Happily it'll just wipe out you and me." Ruby says back.

"How?" Blake asks again.

"Well it's a special type of toxin that attacks your nervous system, it starts to constrict your lungs first like a snake, then it makes your skin melt where you start to bleed, then it attacks your intestines making them crush from the inside where you start to cough up blood, then lastly your neck muscles with start to spaz out causing your neck to breck, i heard reports that it's a loud crack when it reaches that stage." Ruby says back.

Ruby then hands off the configuration to Blake and moves it the wrong way.

"DON'T MOVE THAT!" Ruby yells.

And Blake stops moving out of fear for their safety.

"My Monty." Blake says as it sinks in.

"Oh i think we'd like Monty on our side at the moment don't you?" Ruby asks.

"So what i'm doing now is removing the guidance chips so the rocket will splash down after 500 feet." Ruby says.

"Alright let me have that." Ruby says as she takes the gas from Blake but she holds on.

"You can let go of it. All right just back away. Just back way!" Ruby says to Blake.

Blake then got the hint and let go of the unit.

Ruby then got to work on the rest of the units, little does she know more problems await for her.

Sorry for not writing i've been working for a long time.

But on the plus side this chapter was a lot of fun to write out i loved how the shootout scene turned out hope you enjoyed it.
