"Can I ask you something?" Ira asked before she got up, getting one last glance at the screen. "Why me? How will I steal narcotics from mafia?" She was very curious why her, what gave her away.
"You're new and have to show me some loyalty." Her boss responded, leaving her poker faced. "Besides, when you first walked in I could see it. The way you walk and the way you look at people, moreover men; you have been trained for this," The lady continued, walking closer to the young woman. Ira froze and watched her boss warily.
"Was it that obvious?" Ira asked boldly, her tone the same.
"That you're working for a dealer? Yes."
So that was what their opinions were based upon. It was better than she was expecting.
"How much do you want?" Ira continued, rubbing her cheek sheepishly. The woman in kimono raised three fingers.
"3 kilograms. Pure amphetamine."
Ira's eyes widened. That was a lot even if it didn't seem so. For Japanese businesses it was a lot and yen was far greater than the euro.
In her room, once the deal was done, Ira sat on the bed and rubbed her eyes. It suddenly became so much serious and complicated. It wasn't a big deal since she could find out where the package was going to arrive and steal a bit but the problem was the one doing that deal. Vlad Petrov, a Russian mafia leader, young and very handsome, the man whom she used to play with when she was visiting her grandparents. He was older than her and very attractive, always telling her he wanted to taint her, which he didn't get the chance to do. Now, Petrov had deals with her family and stealing would cause trouble therefore, she had to go and ask for the 3 kilos of amphetamine.
"Great," She mumbled, falling back on the bed and groaning.
The next morning, she finally called Reborn and told him she needed one more day because something came up. He didn't ask but didn't inform Hibari either. The former prefect was beyond annoyed and he was ready to use his tonfas on his student council president soon.
"Relax. She's alright." Reborn commented, his eyes glinting with mischievousness.
"I don't care about her. I want the file." Hibari growled, Reborn raising an eyebrow at just how little Hibari cared for his student.
Ira dressed in her usual clothes and took a deep sigh before knocking on his door. Petrov had an office in Osaka and she had to actually go there early in the morning. Her head was pounding and her vacation became work.
The doors opened and a thin blonde Russian woman urged Ira inside her boss's office. She let her in and closed the doors after she left, leaving Ira alone with Petrov.
"It's been a while," Vlad started, his blue eyes giving her the chills.
"Yes. It's been what? 5 years? More?" She continued in flawless Russian. It was weird because her French accent was far more audible than when she was speaking Japanese.
"More. So, what do I owe the pleasure?" He was straight to business, like always.
"Oh you know me too well," She joked, walking in front of his desk and sitting in it. "Just like before,"
The man couldn't help but trail his eyes over her figure; being away from the mafia was doing her very good. She was relaxed and living the good life without getting her hands dirty.
"I need a favor," She started, knowing well what he was going to ask for. "I need 3 kilograms of amphetamine from the new ship."
Vlad stared at her poker faced before he started to laugh and rose from his seat. He looked at her like a wolf and walked in front of her, blocking her with his body.
"You know what I want and what my conditions are," He responded, too close for comfort. Ira nodded. "Are you sure you want to do that, Irene? Is it worth it?" He asked, leaning close to her neck, pecking it softly.
"Yes. It does." She responded before pushing him away slightly. "But not now. So?"
The blonde man smirked and got a foot away from her. She was a courageous woman and he admired that.
"Fine. 3 kilos of amphetamine." The blonde walled to his desk and opened a drawer. He grabbed 3 packs of white powder and placed them on the desk. "But don't forget our deal, Irene." He threatened when she reached out for the packs.
"I know." She stated coldly, her eyes getting the bossy glint Vlad liked so much. He let her go and watched her leave the same way she came in, in the same superior manner.
Ira got back early so most people weren't there. It was only lunch and her boss was probably drinking tea somewhere fancy. It was really silent and empty without the flashy lights and perverted old men.
She surveyed the place before she walked down the corridor to her boss' office. She knew there were cameras at every corner and three more right in front of her office yet none inside. There must have been a good reason why and Ira was sure it was about the things her boss would do inside.
It wasn't hard to get in, moreover having a very good reason, and searching through her stuff was pretty easy. The hard part was the hacking in her laptop, which seemed skillfully protected. The file was there, she was sure, but she had no idea under what name and still didn't get the password.
In need of help, Ira called the person who knew better, the sun guardian of the Dubois family, Molly.
"Can you help me crack it?" Ira asked her childhood friend, helpless.
Ira placed the phone down and waited for her friend to start using her magic.
"Do you have an usb on you?"
"Yes." Ira responded.
"Connect the phone to the laptop and I will get to enter and send the file to you without a password." Molly mumbled. Ira's eyes narrowed at the door before she did just as she was instructed.
It was taking much more than Ira expected and the clock was ticking restlessly.
"Can you move faster, Molly?"
The technician was silent. Ira could only hear furious tapping noises before she finally heard something different. It was the door to the office. Whoever was on the other side was going to enter and find her there. Ira's breath hitched and glanced at her phone. She gulped but kept herself calm. She's been in harder situation but damn, she was a professional back then. She became rusty after Reborn left her with Colonello.
"Molly," Ira trailed, her heart beating faster and faster. The doorknob turned and Ira's grasp on the phone tightened.
The door opened widely, the boss coming in dressed in normal clothes. She was talking on the phone with someone and it seemed that business wasn't doing well lately; it was all that Russian's fault of course.
"Tell Petrov to back off and find some other country to invest into," She got to say before she faced the desk.
No one was there and the lid of the laptop was closed. The desk was clean and nothing weird was lurking in the shadows.
"I don't care what if you are afraid or not. He doesn't seem old enough to know what he's doing. Just do something. Use your imagination-"
The woman continued to speak as she grabbed her laptop and walked out, still talking on the phone. When the door was closed, Ira finally got out of her hiding spot. It wasn't the best idea but hiding under the desk proved to be good enough to save her cover. Thankfully, Molly finished right when the woman entered and Ira used her quick reflexes to hide. The phone was still on the desk so when the boss turned to close the door, she quickly unplugged the usb and grabbed her phone before getting back into hiding.
She called Reborn the next day and was informed that Hibari will come over and take the file. She chuckled when she realized the file was in her phone.
On the other side, she was debating with herself if she should give the drugs or give them sugar. It was dangerous playing with fire but she couldn't help but want to feel that adrenaline again. For her, it seemed to be a game even if it wasn't. Reborn was a very bad influence.
That night, before her shift, Ira got called in the office for the drugs. She placed the bags on the table and waited for the boss to test them. She called some bulky guy and Ira couldn't help but watch intently.
"It does seem like you did a good job," The boss was visibly surprised. "You can leave,"
Ira nodded and bowed before putting the mask on her face and venturing into the night life of perverts and restless.
It was around half past midnight when she had to go on stage. Ira prepared herself to do some old tricks on the pole and took a deep breath before going on stage. She only had one more step into the light when one of the other dancers grabbed her arm, a look of panic on her face.
"The boss is looking for you, Ira. They don't look like they want to give you a medal," The young girl told Ira, more troubled than the subject itself. "What did you do?" The girl asked in a small soft voice.
The corners of her lips quirked and her eyes sparkled with mischievousness. Those green eyes were the mirror to her soul; soul that has already been tainted from a young age. Most people could say that Ira was a bit deranged because she got herself in trouble willingly.
No matter what was going to happen, the show must go on and it did. Ira snatched her arm back and walked on the stage, looking more playful than ever before. Her eyes traveled around the bar but she didn't see Hibari. On the other hand, she saw two bodyguards in front of the front door and another two at the door towards the back. She chuckled and begun her show.
It went quite well for ten minutes. She got to sway around and even did a trick or two before she jumped off the stage and danced around the old men. A crowd formed around her, giving her the perfect opportunity to sneak out. She smiled and laughed, swaying her hips from side to side, moving the crowd towards the bar. She got on top f it and grabbed a bottle of whisky before she opened it and took a quick shot. The bodyguards were pretty big and seemed very muscular so her only chance was moving fast. For the first time in her show, she got her mask off and threw it at her fans, gathering loud cheers. She also took her shoes off and skillfully threw them at one bodyguard, hitting him right in the forehead. Next, she jumped off and ran towards the remaining bodyguard, hitting him with the whisky bottle straight in the side of his head, the man fainting right away.
The crowd dispersed and Ira found herself in a tight spot with four big brutes running towards her. One caught her arm and pulled her towards him, making her lose her balance for a moment before she turned around and kicked him in the chest. As soon as she got free, she ran into the back, going straight for the room where most girls were getting ready. She found her bag in the corner, where she left it, and took it before she turned around, ready for the greatest escape.
That proved to be harder than she originally though because bodyguards cornered her in the room.
"You gave us sugar!" One bodyguard screamed at her, aiming for her hair. He caught her tips but that was enough to pull her back.
She narrowed her eyes and jumped, leaning on her hands while wrapping her legs around him and using the power in her arms to pushing herself back and push him on the ground. She punched a few more men and tried to use them as places she could crawl on so she could just kick and run. It worked for the moment but there were more and more men coming and she was only human.
Therefore, once she got in the corridor, she sprinted towards the front door. She defended herself and duck when they started to use their guns. Shots after shots, Ira realized she had to be more careful than before so that she wouldn't get hurt.
Through some divine help, she got out of the den right when a black car pulled in front of it. The man who got out was none other than Hibari. She ran to him and pushed him back inside the car.
"Drive! Drive!" She urged the driver and he didn't really have a choice.
Once safe, Ira started to laugh loudly, enjoying the aftermath of her little prank. Now that she had the drugs, she didn't owe Petrov anything so everything was going to be fine.
"What happened inside?" Hibari asked, his suit a bit wrinkled since she literally shove him on the back seat.
She almost forgot about him, truthfully. Remembering why he was there in the first place, she grabbed her phone from the bag and placed it in his lap.
"I asked a friend to help and got the file in my phone. Mission accomplished, though it was harder than I originally planned." She responded, a bit out of breath since she's been running.
"Good." He responded, an awkward silence coming afterwards.
"Glad to know you care for my safety just as much you care for the file." She continued in a sassy tone, aware that it could anger him. "I'm fine, if it matters." Ira continued, seeing how Hibari turned the phone and and searched for the file.
He found it in the documents but there was a bit of a problem.
"It's in French." Hibari stated coldly, knowing only one person who could finish translating fast enough.
"What do I get if I translate it for you?" Ira definitely got more courage; or it was probably because of the adrenaline which was still pumping in her veins.
"I can tell you what you won't get if you do it," He glowered over her, his icy eyes staring into hers. She bit her lower lip and narrowed her green eyes at him. Tonfas hurt and even if she knew how to fight, she didn't want him to spontaneously start a fight back in the university.
