"I can't believe they are 3 months and I have to go back to work tomorrow." Zoe pouted on the floor playing with Luke and Kenzie. Wade sat down next to her and put a toy on Luke's stomach. "It went faster than I thought it would. Especially after that first week. They're like little people now." "Don't make me feel worse than I already do. I'm going to miss them so much." "I know but won't it feel good to go back to work?" "Yes, I have missed it but, can't they come with me?" Wade shook his head. "No. They're mine." He tickled Luke and the baby smiled "See, they're smiling now and I'll probably miss their first laugh and crawling." "No you won't. They'll save all that for ya." "You don't know that." "I won't allow it." Zoe smiled and bumped him. "You sure you'll be ok with them?" "Yes, I'll be fine. It's not like I never took care of them on my own. You have left me before, they lived." "Lavon was here or Jesse or your Dad." "Not every time. Stop freaking out." "I'm not and if I was, yelling at me isn't the way to stop it." She winked at him Wade smirked and kissed her. "Better?" "For now." She leaned her head on his shoulder and picked up Mackenzie. "She's gotten so big." "Yep, would never know she was so tiny." Lucas started babbling at the star above his head and trying to grab at it. "Oh my gosh, look at him." Wade smiled and turned on the music from the star and Lucas started yelling at it. "He's crazy." "She's so calm. She was laying under that star for 20 minutes and didn't even care." "So, you want to eat here or go to the Rammer Jammer?" Zoe thought "Uh do we have food here?" "No." He chuckled "Rammer Jammer it is." "Sounds good. Let's get them ready and head out."

After the twins were dressed and bundled up in their car seats they started the walk into down. They walked into the Rammer Jammer and got a table.

"Hey you guys." Wanda greeted. "Hi babies" she peaked into the stroller.

"Hi Wanda." Zoe smiled "How are you feeling?"

Wanda placed a hand on her stomach "Doing better, haven't had any morning sickness in three days."

"Yay, that was the worst."

They ordered and Wanda left.

"I can't believe Tom and Wanda are going to have a baby. They're going to be the cutest parents." Zoe gushed

"Yeah, that will be fun to watch."

"Hey Dr. Hart. I heard you're coming back to work tomorrow and I have the first appointment of the day." Shula said from the next table over

"Oh yeah? Is something wrong?"

"No, just my monthly check up."

Zoe smiled "Oh, well ok."

They sat for a while and chatted with each other. A few more people came over and told Zoe how excited they were for her to be returning to the practice.

"You are one popular doctor." Wade smiled at her

"I know, I didn't realize how missed I was."

"Dr. Hart, I am so excited you will be back at the practice but I don't know how you are going to leave those adorable babies of yours." Carrie asked coming over to their table "I would never be able to do it."

"They'll be fine." Zoe looked at Wade and smiled "They're Daddy knows what he's doing."

Carrie smiled at the two of them "I bet he does." She winked at Wade and walked away

Zoe's jaw dropped. "Ugh, I really don't like her."

"She's jealous." Wade took her hand in his and kissed it

"I love you."

"I love you too. Now what do you say we get these munchkins home before they start freaking out to eat."

"Might be a good idea."

The next morning Zoe woke up to her own alarm instead of a baby crying. She rolled out of bed at went right in the shower. She was dressed and making coffee by the time one of the babies started crying.

"I got it, I got it." Wade said walking out of their bedroom and heading towards the stairs "You keep getting ready."

"No, let me. Please." She said meeting him at the stairs

"You sure?"

"Yes."

"Ok, I'll get breakfast started. Pancakes?"

"Yes please." She said half way up with stairs

Zoe came back downstairs with two babies in her arms and spit up on her shirt. "Help" she said walking into the kitchen

Wade looked up from the frying pan and smiled "Sexy." He winked. He put the last pancake on the plate and rushed to her side. He took Luke from her. "What happened?"

"Well Wade, one of your kids spit up and I'm going to let you guess which one."

"Not nice Mack." He smirked and strapped Luke into his bouncy seat and then took Mackenzie. "Go get changed, I'll clean her up."

"Thank you."

"Now why did you do that? Mama has to go to work." He told Mackenzie as he put her in her seat.

Zoe came back into the kitchen buttoning up her new shirt. "Ok, I need to eat and then I have to go. Are you sure you're going to be ok?"

"Yes Baby, I'll be fine. These kids are no match for me."

"Don't jinx yourself." She said and shoved a piece of pancake in her mouth.

Wade started getting the twins bottles ready. "Why does everything I do revolve around a bottle?" he chuckled

Zoe laughed "I am not sure but you look good doing both." She stuck her plate in the dishwasher. "I need to go." She went over and kissed the babies "Bye babies, be good for Daddy." She pleaded and took her purse off the counter and headed for the door.

"Uh Hello?" Wade called to her

Zoe spun around and pouted "I'm sorry." She walked back over to him and kissed him "Love you, see you tonight."

"Have fun healing people Doc."

"Have fun with my babies." She sighed and her eyes started to well as she looked over at the babies

"Ah, no, no crying. Just go, goodbye, I love you, they love you, have a good day." He said as he pushed her towards the door.

"I'm gonna miss my babies."

"I know but you have to go to work. You will be fine. They won't even know you're gone."

Zoe stopped dead in her tracks and her jaw dropped "See, they're going to forget about me. I won't spend enough time with them and they won't love me and they'll say Dada before Mama and…" Wade kissed her and then pulled away slowly. "Thank you"

"You're welcome, now go and I'll say Mama all day long so it gets burned in their little brains."

She smiled "You're the best." She kissed him again and turned towards the door. Wade smacked her butt as she left and she just laughed.

"Have a good day." He called. Mackenzie started crying and Zoe turned around. "Nope, get out." He gave her one final nudge out the door, closed it behind her and locked it. "Alright I'm coming." He called to the screaming baby.

Zoe walked into the practice with puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks. Brick noticed right away.

"Oh Zoe, don't cry." He pulled her into him

"I can't believe how much I miss them. I left 5 minutes ago."

"That's only natural but they will be fine and you will be home before you know it."

"I hope so."

"Well we are all booked up with patients; you won't have a minute to think."

Zoe just nodded. "I should get started pulling files." She walked into her office and closed the door behind her. She pulled out her cell phone and texted Wade. "How are my babies?"

A minute later she got a text back "We are all fine. Go to work"

Zoe put her phone in her desk and went to work. Half way through her day when she was sitting at her desk filling out a file, Wade's ringtone started coming from her drawer. She couldn't open the drawer and pick up the phone quick enough. "What's the matter?" she answered

"Uh nothing." He replied confused

"I'm sorry, I just didn't expect you to call me. What's up?"

"Just calling to check on you, see how your first day back was going."

"It's going well, I miss you guys though."

"We miss you too."

"How are they?"

"They're good, napping."

"Both of them?" she asked in shock

"Yes, apparently the low strumming of a guitar knocks them both out."

"And you couldn't have figured that out 3 months ago?" she chuckled.

"I know right?" he laughed with her "Well I'll let you go."

"Ok, I'll see you in a couple of hours." She smiled at the thought

"Love you Babe."

"Love you too, bye" she hung up and put the phone back in her desk.

Wade hung up the phone and looked around the house. The twins were sleeping but the house was a mess. There were blankets and diapers thrown everywhere, toys all around and there was a onesie on ceiling fan. Wade looked up in confusion and swatted it down.

"How did that even get there?" he asked himself. "I really need to get this house in order before the Doc gets home." He started cleaning and had almost everything back in its place when there was screaming coming from the living room. "Aahh" he grunted and walked in the room. "What's up Mack?" he asked picking her up and she spit up everywhere. "Ugh" Wade sighed and hung his head. "Thank you very much. I really wanted to change my shirt for a fourth time today. And of course you needed outfit number 3 of the day." He looked down at Luke who was still sleeping. "Stay, quietly." He told him and walked upstairs. "What do you want to wear now?" he asked the tiny infant. He picked out an outfit and got her dressed then he went and changed his own shirt. "Now we are clean again." He looked at the clock on the wall. "Only 4 more hours until Mommy comes home."

The rest of Zoe's day went quickly and at 5:00 she was out the door. "Bye Brick." She yelled

"Bye Zoe"

She couldn't get home fast enough. She walked through the door and heard nothing, it was silent. She looked all over the downstairs and then went up. Luke's room was empty so she turned to Mackenzie's. Wade was fast asleep in the rocker with his guitar in his lap, Mackenzie was asleep in the swing and Luke was in her crib. She smiled at the sight and walked over to Wade. She kissed him and his eyes fluttered open.

"Hi" he whispered

"Hi, how was your day?" she asked taking his guitar, putting it on the floor and sitting on his lap.

Wade wrapped his arms around her waist and she laid her head on his shoulder. "Well this is shirt number 7 and she is in outfit number 5. He has managed to keep the same outfit on which was nice."

"Long day huh?"

"Yes, but I made it and they are both clean, dry and fed. At least for the next half hour."

"Maybe I should take another month or so off work."

"No, we will be fine. It can only get easier, right?"

"I hope so." She kissed his cheek

"How was your day?"

"I missed my babies and my man." She winked "Of course every patient had to ask about them and tell me how they would never be able to leave 3 month old twins at home and go back to a full time job. Maybe I can bring them with me."

"No, you would get nothing done."

"True. What's for dinner?" she asked

"That's cute that you think I had time to figure that out."

"Sorry, what do we have?"

"I think I have some steaks in the fridge."

"Whatever, I'll take cereal at this point."

"Well I know we have that."

"How long have they been sleeping?"

"About a half hour."

"So if we're lucky we'll get another half hour."

"If we're lucky."

"You're not going into work tonight are you?"

"No, I would be asleep on the bar if I did."

"Good, I need my man. It was a tough day."

"I hear ya. Let's try and get dinner at least started before they wake up."

"Good idea." She got up off his lap and took his hand in hers. "I'm starving."
