AN: So I realized that I haven't taken a chapter to thank everyone for commenting. This may be a long Author's note, so if you skip it, that's fine too.
Aguna: Thanks for the three comments and encouragement. I hope you're still reading this, even though I know the updates are sporadic.
ventus101: Thank you for the two comments and encouragement. Yes, punishing him for not eating his vegetables was one of my favorite chapters.
jewel wayne: Thank you for the comment and encouragement. I apologize updates are so sporadic. I'm a very busy person and sometimes I neglect projects for a while, but I promise I won't abandon it. Hope you're still with me through this story too.
Winseth Shipjumper: Thank you for the two comments and encouragement. I haven't had any haters yet, but I appreciate the thought anyway. :)
Nightwing237: Thank you for the comment and encouragement. Keep pressuring me to update, and I promise eventually I will.
maranda111: Thank you for the comment and the advice. Though the story didn't start out as anything unique, I'm hoping it will take a unique turn as it continues. I hope you'll continue reading and tell me if there's any other things I should fix throughout the story.
lisadoomen: Thank you for the comment and the compliment. It means a lot that you find my writing that good. I've been trying to eagerly improve over the years. I hope you're still following the story despite the sporadic updates. (Also, the dot in your name kept making it not show up because Fanfic thought it was a website address, so I had to take the dot out.)
PrincessSparkleKitty: Thank you for the comment and the encouragement. Yes, indeed, Robin's stuck and Batman is here. Stay tune to see who wins in this.
KarateDiva28: Thank you for the two comments and compliments. I appreciate the comments about the writing. I work really hard to try and build on characters and develop them through actions and words. I appreciate that you've noticed. :)
HolyCow: Thank you for the two comments and random thought. I actually am gay, so that's funny, but I'm not a guy. I have never thought about it in that tone until you said something. I'm glad my writing has amused you though!
Mizuki 8D: Thank you for the comment and thought. Wintergreen is a hard character for me to write as considering I don't know his character very well, however, I don't think he'll be a harsh babysitter. :)
Love'sAlwaysRight: Thank you for the comment and the thought. Yes indeed. Robin is becoming corrupted. Just wait to see just how corrupted I can make him. (If all goes according to Slade's plan of course.)
emma3883: Thank you for the comment and the compliment. I'm glad you like it so much. I hope you continue keeping up with it.
4 Guests: Thank you for your comments and encouragement. I will keep this story up, but I can't promise my updates will be close together. I have periods of lots of muse and low stress where I'm able to crank out chapters, but I also have periods of little muse and high stress where absolutely nothing will come out. However, keep pestering me, and I promise I'll keep this up.
Finally, enjoy this chapter. Sorry for the long AN.
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Slade waited until Robin had drifted asleep to go talk to Wintergreen. Wintergreen knew. He knew and wasn't very happy with him at the moment. Slade had lied of course. The pain medicine was also a sedation. It was funny to think the boy actually trusted him not to sedate him. Any trust the boy had was amusing to Slade. If only he knew.
Wintergreen sat on the pilot's chair silently, despite being aware that Slade had just entered the room. Slade took off his mask and took the co-pilot's seat beside him. "It's only a little pain." Slade said firmly.
"He's only a boy." Wintergreen replied back just as firmly.
"So were we when we entered the war." Slade shot back. "He can handle it."
Wintergreen sighed. "How do you even expect him to trust you if you do things like this to him?"
"He won't find out. It was part of the plan. When he sees the tape, things will start to fall into place. Trust me." Slade said confidently.
Wintergreen went quiet. He held a silent disapproving face as he stared forward. Slade waited for his response. They sat in silence for a long while before Wintergreen finally responded.
"I won't tell him. But don't do it again." Wintergreen said.
"It won't be necessary to repeat. He's smart enough to get it the first time." Slade assured.
"If you ever plan something like this again, tell me first." Wintergreen continued firmly.
"I'll consider it. But as I said, it won't be necessary to repeat. This is simply a building block put into place. The idea has already been in his mind, but this will provide him with proof. And once that proof is there, it will start consuming him slowly. He'll try to resist and he'll try to deny, but I'm patient enough to wait until it gets through his head. Once he accepts it, he'll want comfort. Likely, he'll chose you, since he's too ashamed of admitting something like that to me. When he does, things will just click into place. He'll start working willingly." Slade explained.
"Or this will backfire and make a bigger mess." Wintergreen added.
"If it backfires, I'll come up with a new approach." Slade shrugged.
"This new approach had better be ran by me first." Wintergreen briefly looked over to him with a teasing warning glare, but partly meant it to be a threat.
"I'll consider it." Slade smirked pick up the computerize chip he'd sent Robin out to get. He'd been surprised the boy had actually came through despite the set up. He assume Robin would've put it in his pocket and Joker would've gotten a hold of it. But after a search of Robin, he found the boy had outsmarted the criminal by hiding it in his sock rather than his pocket. He would've praised Robin for being so clever, but the boy didn't need to know he actually succeeded. It was better to have him think he failed this round.

So close! He'd been so close! Batman looked around the roof top at the litter of dead bodies, stopped particularly at the one with a smile painted on its face. A sick part of him was happy the Joker was dead. Out of all those years of torment, it was almost a relief to never have to deal with him again. The other part, more promenade part, was furious the Joker was dead. He'd never get to question him now on if there was any involvements with DeathStroke. Batman wondered if this whole thing had been a strange coincidence. Why had Deathstroke been in Gotham? Why had he brought Robin along? Why had Joker gotten ahold of Robin if Deathstroke was supposed to be keeping a close eye on him?
Batman thought over the events. He'd came back to Gotham to investigate Joker's escape. Randomly he got a call that someone had broken into a warehouse that looked oddly like Robin with a different outfit. He'd had to cover for Robin and assure them he knew nothing of it. After investigating every part of the warehouse, the only thing Robin had taken was a computer chip from one of the new Beta Testers. What could Deathstroke want from a computerize chip? It wasn't as if he couldn't build it himself. Batman would've expected the whole device to be stolen or blueprints for that device at the very least, but he'd have to do more research into what the chip did to figure out why Deathstroke would've wanted it. After tracking a lot of clues, Batman figured out the Joker had Robin. He soon found himself on the roof of the building he was sure Robin was in. Joker's henchmen were waiting for him armed and ready. And though usually Batman would've jumped into a battle, they also had a hostage. Joker came out with a drugged and tortured Robin claiming that Batman could either save the hostage, or Robin. He put Robin on the side of the building and Batman was left to make a choice. Convinced Robin could hold out a little longer than the hostage, Batman had gone after the hostage first. Then Deathstroke showed up and begin mass murdering everyone. In the process of trying to save the hostage, Batman was rendered unconscious. He woke up to everyone dead, including the Joker himself, and Robin and Deathstroke gone.
Batman could hear the police sirens sounding below the building. He needed to get out of here before he was blamed for the deaths.
Batman wasn't sure where to start, but he figured the best place to start was to research what the chip did. Maybe with that knowledge he could predict Deathstroke's next move and get Robin back before something else happened.

Raven couldn't figure it out. She'd been able to contact Robin the day before he went out on his first mission for Slade and now, she was completely shut out. Beast Boy had healed thanks to Cyborg popping it back into place and Raven using her magic to heal the rest of it. Raven still didn't get why she couldn't contact him. She couldn't even sense his mind anymore. It was completely gone. No emotions, nothing. She'd even tried extending herself out to search for Slade's mind, but of course that one couldn't be found either. It was as if Robin had dropped off the face of the Earth.
Starfire wasn't taking the news well. She was depressed and making her 'pudding of sadness' a lot lately. Beast Boy was mixed on whether they should be calling the cops on Robin or not. Cyborg was trying to keep everyone in high spirits but often found himself going to the gym to get out the pented frustration of this all happening yet again. Couldn't Slade just leave Robin alone? Batman had been working adamantly on the case but was pulled back to Gotham for the day since the Joker had recently escaped.
Raven came down from her meditation and trying to contact Robin with a sigh. She hadn't been successful. She decided to go to the main room for some tea. She was low on energy from the lack of sleep. Entering the main room, she could see Beast Boy absent-mindedly playing a video game. Cyborg was probably in the gym or looking over the files they had on Slade. Starfire had been sitting on the roof, last Raven had seen her.
Raven begin brewing her tea. She had just put the pot on the stove when Beast Boy paused his game and turned to face her.
"Anything?" He asked looking a little hopeful. Raven shook her head.
"I'll keep trying though." Raven assured him. Beast Boy paused.
"Raven, I don't mean to doubt…. But…" He paused. Raven understood.
"Judging his emotions when he was first captured, I don't think this is intentional." Raven replied.
Beast Boy nodded. "It's not just that though… I also mean… Last time, we stopped Robin before it got bad. What if this time…"
Raven paused. "Robin knows the limit. He'll do whatever will harm the least amount of people." The words weren't reassuring though, because Raven wondered the same thing too. If it came down to choosing between killing one person or letting everyone he loved died, Raven didn't know what Robin would chose. She didn't even know what she would chose. She knew he would try to save as many as he could, but with that kind of decision, no one knew how far he would go this time unless he was caught soon. "We'll stop him before that happens." Raven finally said.
Beast Boy gave an attempt at a reassuring smile, but even Raven could see he didn't believe it all the way. "You're right." He said. "We'll get through this."
The conversation ended there as the tea pot begin whistling. Beast Boy turned back to his game and Raven made her tea. Suddenly the screen chimed alerting an incoming call. Beast Boy paused his game and got up immediately to see who it was.
"It's Batman." Beast Boy said. Raven pulled out her communicator and called everyone into the room. Batman waited until everyone was in the room before relaying the message.
"Robin was spotted in Gotham." Batman said curtly. Excitement went around the room, but Cyborg hushed everyone back down again to let Batman finish. "He was captured temporarily by the Joker." A round of gasps sounded before Batman continued. "However, before I could get to him, Deathstroke arrived and recaptured him. I'm sending over the file on the item that was stolen for you guys to look into it. I'm trying to contact anyone who's talked to the Joker before this went down."
"Why not question the Joker himself?" Beast Boy wondered out loud.
"Deathstroke killed him. And all his henchmen." Batman replied shortly. Everyone in the room wondered what happened, but everyone seem to know Batman wasn't going to tell them much more than he already said.
"Should we come to Gotham? Do you think they're still there?" Cyborg asked.
"No, stay in Jump. If they're here, I'll find them. But it's not likely Deathstroke would stay here while I'm investigating. Besides, if he went back to Jump, someone has to be there to catch him when he makes his next move." Batman said.
"Okay. Keep us updated." Raven said emotionlessly. Batman nodded and ended the transmission. Within a few seconds, the monitor beeped with the download of information regarding the chip was that was stolen. Cyborg pulled it up on the screen so everyone could see it.
"So we know he stole a blueprint and a computerize chip." Cyborg said.
"We just have to find the connection and calculate his next move." Raven finished.
"So we have a lead?" Starfire asked hopefully.
"If we can figure out the next thing he's after, we could beat him to it and capture both of them at once." Cyborg said.
"Glorious!" Starfire praised.
"We're going to get him back, Star. Don't worry." Cyborg reassured. I hope. He added in his head.
Thank you everyone. Read and Review as always!
