The two of then sat with their backs against the head board in silence.

"Want to talk about it?" Kate said looking over at him.

"It's nothing, just the job sometimes gets to you." He said giving her a small smirk.

"This last job?" She asked him hoping he would tell her what was bothering him.

"No. More like all of them." He said. "After a while you forget some of them, but others stay with you. Some of the people that we help will never be the same. Because of what happened or what they saw. I know we can't help everyone. But even the people we do help…just knowing that they still have to live with what has happened. And we just move on to the next town or the next hunt forgetting about them." Dean said sounding angry.

"You can't remember everyone you meet, Dean"

"Yeah I know."

"If you and Sam; and every other person who hunts; didn't do what you do. These people wouldn't have been saved. And more people would have died."

"I know," Dean said getting out of the bed as he started passing the room. "But we just leave them behind as we move on. I leave them to figure everything out on their own. I don't even know if these people are able to move on. Sometimes I just wish I could do more." He said going back and sitting on the side of the bed.

"Is that why you brought me here?" Kate wondered. "Did you think by helping me, that it would make you feel better?"

"No, I wasn't even thinking about that when I asked you to come with us. I didn't think about any of this till after we went on this last hunt."

"What do you mean? Why did you start thinking about this now?"

"Because of you." Dean said turning his face to look at her. "I could see how hard it all was on you Kate. To see you in your Uncles house, looking at pictures. The fact that you can't sleep, that you can never go back to your home; or that you know about the supernatural and what is really out there. Your life has changed and you can never go back to how things used to be."

"Why did you ask me to come with you?" Kate asked for the first time since she had left her town with the brothers.

"I wish I knew." Dean said, "At first I thought it was to keep you out of jail. But now, I don't know. I could have just put you on a bus and told you to disappear. Maybe I felt like I needed to protect you. I don't know why, but I just knew I had to bring you with us."

"Well I'm glad that you did bring me along." Kate said giving him a smile.

"You are?" Dean asked confused.

"Yeah." She said, "Not that this is the life I had planned, but I feel like this is where I'm supposed to be. I'm not saying that I am glad my uncle was killed or that I know there are scary things out there. But I'm happy here with you all. And I know that if I would have stayed behind I wouldn't be happy." Kate gave Dean a smile showing him that she was truly glad she was here with them. "That, and I would probably be in jail if I stayed behind." She laughed. "So thank you."

Dean gave her a large smile, "I'm glad you're here too." He pulled her into a hug. "All right lets try and catch up on all the sleep we have been missing." Dean said as they pulled apart. They both laid down on the bed and got comfortable. It didn't take either of them long to fall asleep.

Once again Kate woke up alone in the bed. After a few minutes of laying in the bed she got up and went down to get a cup of her morning coffee. She found Sam at the kitchen table reading the paper.

"Morning." She said coming into the room.

"Morning Kate." Sam said as he looked up at her.

"Where is everyone?" She asked realizing the house was too quiet for having four people staying there.

"Ah, Bobby ran into town and Dean is out working on the car." Sam said getting up and refilling his mug with coffee.

"Is something wrong with the Impala?" Kate asked walking over to the back door and looking out into the salvage yard.

"No, he's just making sure everything is running good. He does that when we have no leads on a case." Sam chuckled.

When Kate finished her coffee she went back upstairs to shower and dress for the day. When she came back down to the kitchen Sam was no longer there. So she grabbed herself some toast and headed outside.

She found Dean working under the hood of the car.

"Hey, sleeping beauty. You finally woke up." He said as he put down the wrench he was using.

"Funny." Kate said coming over towards the car. "How's she running?"

"Why don't you come have a look." Dean said with a wink. Kate gave him a smile as she went over to check out the engine.

"Wow, your dad taught you well. For how old she is, she is looking good." Kate said after looking everything over. Dean just plastered a smile on his face. He was proud of his baby. He was also impressed by Kate's knowledge of cars and car parts. He had never known a girl who knew anything about cars. He would be lying to himself if he said he didn't like that about her.

The two of them stood staring at each other not knowing what to say. They barely knew each other, but at the same time they both felt like they knew each other so well.

"So I was thinking." Kate started

"About what?" Dean said leaning against the front bumper giving her a smirk.

"Hey Dean!" Sam yelled to them from the back porch. "I think I found something."
"Yeah, Sammy. I'll be right there." Dean called back, as Sam when back inside. "What were you going to say?" Dean asked.

"Oh, it was nothing. We can talk later."

"You sure?" Dean asked.

"Yeah." Kate said just as Bobby pulled up in his truck.

"Alright." Dean said heading towards the back door. Kate turned to watch him leave. She let out a breath of air she was holding. Sam's interruption was probably a good thing.

"Come help me with these bags." Bobby yelled to Kate. She headed over to Bobby's truck and took a look back at the house. Yes it was good she didn't get to ask dean what she was about to.
