Chapter 14
"Are you ready to go Kagome?" Inuyasha asked after Kagome got on his back.
"Yes, I'm good." Kagome said after wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Okay lets get you home." Inuyasha said while giving her thigh a little rub with his thumb.
By evening they made it halfway to the village, only stopping a few times for water. By the time they made it to the well. Night had fallen, and so had Kagome. Her light breathing told InuYasha she was sleeping soundly. Careful not to wake her, he jumped down the well to the other side. Coming closer to the house. Inuyasha's nose picked up on the smell of Mrs. Higurashi's cooking
"Kagome we're here." Inuyasha said waking up his lovely Kagome.
Opening her eyes, she realized just where they they they were.
"How long was I out?" Kagome asked with a yawn.
"About halfway here, it's okay you needed sleep."
Inuyasha slowly left her off his back, making sure she kept pressure off her ankle. Wrapping her hands around his arm for support. They slowly walked or in Kagome's case limped into the house.
"Kagome! Inuyasha! It's good to see you both again. Come in I just finished making supper." Said Mrs. Higurashi. It was then she noticed Kagome wasn't wear her shoe, and limping.
"Kagome! What happened to your ankle?"
"I...I injured it awhile back, when we were looking for InuYasha. It's just sprained that's all."
"No it's not!" Interrupted Inuyasha. "I say it's broken."
"Oh my! Well lets eat first, then we'll take you to the emergency room." Said Kagome's mom.
"I guess." Kagome quietly said.
"No! You are going even if I have to carry you, which I will anyhow."
After they finished supper they were off to the hospital.
Sitting in the waiting room with a bandana on his head to cover his ears. Inuyasha couldn't help but worry. As InuYasha and Kagome's mom waited. Inuyasha started getting inpatient. After all sitting wasn't one of Inuyasha's points.
"It will be fine Inuyasha." Mrs. Higurashi said while placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Keh!" Was his only reply.
After waiting for what seemed like for ever. They were allowed into the room. Kagome was laying on a table, and her leg was wrapped in something hard and white up to her knee. Inuyasha quickly went to her side
"Kagome!? Are you okay?" Inuyasha asked her while taking hold of her hand.
"She'll be fine in 6 to 8 weeks. That's when we shall remove the cast." Said the doctor placing the x-rays up onto the screen.
"The break wasn't bad but we feel it better to put it in a cast."
A look of sadness came to Inuyasha's face. Kagome placed her other hand over his.
"Don't you dare blame yourself Inuyasha."
"If you hadn't been out trying to find me, you wouldn't have been hurt in the first place Kagome."
"And if I would've stood up to my friends, I never would have gone on that date."
Inuyasha brought her hand to his lips, kissing her knuckles.
"I'm still sorry." Said Inuyasha.
A cough brought them back to the here and now.
"You can go home Kagome, just let me know if you have problems."
"Of course doctor." Kagome said as Inuyasha picked her up off the table.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she gave Inuyasha a kiss on cheek. Once they were in the car riding home. Inuyasha started talking.
"You know I'm not leaving your side for a second Kagome. Not while you're wearing that cast things."
There was no use fighting about it, she knew Inuyasha all to well.
Once they were home, Inuyasha took Kagome to her room. After placing her on the bed, she started laughing.
"What's so funny wench?" Asked Inuyasha.
"You do realize we're on my bed alone while mom's getting my pain medicine." Kagome said giving Inuyasha a wink.
"Not now koibito, not till you're better."
"But I'm fi..." InuYasha cut her off with a kiss.
"You know I would love another round Kagome. But next time I don't think I'll be able to hold back my demon blood."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Kagome asked.
"It means Kagome," Inuyasha said while taking her hand. "That you'll definitely get pregnant."
"Oh! So does that mean you don't want?"
"No Kagome! That's not what I'm saying...I just...want it to be perfect for us both."
"But it was perfect the first time Inuyasha." Kagome said looking into his eyes.
"I know." He said cupping her cheek in his hand. "But I...don't know what's going to happen when my blood takes over."
"It's okay Inuyasha. We'll wait, I understand."
"Thanks Kagome."
It was Kagome's third day home. Feeling brave she started using couches. She was eager to start school again. But there was one problem. Inuyasha was going with her and watching her every move. If Shouhei tried anything now Inuyasha would surly kill him.
'I guess we will just have to cross that bridge if it happens.' Thought Kagome.
And sure enough, before she even got through the school gates. Shouhei made his appearance.
"There you are my dear Kagome! I was starting to worry about you." Shouhei said approaching Kagome.
If only Shouhei knew there was someone watching him. Someone with golden eyes and ready to attack. Kagome froze when Shouhei put his arm around her waist.
"So my love what have you been up to, did you miss me?"
"Please, Kagome bagged. "Just leave me alone, I'm not interested."
"Oh but I think you are." Taking his foot Shouhei knocked her crouch out from under her.
Of course all this didn't go unnoticed by Inuyasha. He was trying to play by the rules of Kagome's era. But the demon in him could no longer watch his love suffer. This bastered would be punished. Jumping from the school roof at lighting speed, Inuyasha caught Kagome before she fell. Holding her tightly in his arms. He asked if she was okay. She only managed a nod yes before he turned to Shouhei.
As he turned to Shouhei his eyes turned slightly red and with a growl that meant business. He said.
"You son of a bitch how dare you try to hurt Kagome."
"Wh...what are y...you." Shouhei asked trying to back away.
"Someone who's going to put you in your place you piece of dirt!"
"INUYASHA PLEASE! Yelled Kagome, "don't kill him."
"Oh I won't kill him. But he'll wish he was when I'm done with him." Cracking his knuckles Inuyasha slowly approached Shouhei. "I can't stand people like you." Said Inuyasha taking Shouhei by the throat.
"You can't hurt me."
"Oh really." Inuyasha said before giving Shouhei a right hook to the jaw and knocking him out.
"How bad is he Inuyasha?" Asked Kagome
"Just rearranged his face that's all."
"I think you did more than that Inuyasha. He is definitely going to need some plastic surgery." Kagome said looking at Shouhei mangled face.
"Place it what?" Ask Inuyasha
"Plastic surgery. It's surgery people do using plastic to replace bones and tissue to fix problems, kind of like what you did to Shouhei."
"So what know ?" Asked Inuyasha.
"What do you mean Inuyasha?"
"What do we do now, he knows about me. And he knows you know me."
"Then I guess there's nothing left to do, but stay away from here."
"You mean you're finally going to let this school thing go."
"Yes...I am." Kagome said giving him a smile. "After all my future is with you in the feudal era not here."
"Come on Kagome lets get you home." Inuyasha said as he picked her up bridal style.
Once they made it home Kagome explained everything that happened at school. And that she was quitting. Her mother understood perfectly. She always knew Kagome's future was in the past.
After the sixth week Kagome's cast was off. Inuyasha never left her side once the time. While they were there they discussed their wedding plans. They decided to marry in the feudal era, after all that's were they would start their family. Saying their good byes to Kagome's family, not knowing if the well would continue to work. They left to start their new life together. And now they finally knew.
