Yukkuri Study
From the files of Dr. [redacted]
Day 1
Reimu received ordinary manjuu at mealtimes, filled with the same red bean paste as her own filling. She did not show any signs of recognizing it as anything other than "sweet-sweets". This shall be repeated for one more day.
Day 3
Today's meal had a face drawn on it with food coloring. Reimu prodded at it, unsure if it had once been a yukkuri, but quickly decided that it was just nonmagical food and ate it.
Day 6
Today's manjuu lacked the face, but was presented to Reimu tied in a ribbon resembling her own. Reimu complained about this, saying that she wouldn't eat a yukkuri, but did not take long to accept the explanation that the ribbon was merely decorative and that it wasn't a yukkuri. Ribbon was not made of the same edible materials as Reimu's.
Day 9
Face has been readded in concert with ribbon. Reimu did not hesitate to eat it immediately. Reimu's ribbon shall be removed while she sleeps and used on tomorrow's lunch.
Day 10
Reimu did not hesitate to consume her own ribbon. A replacement will be given to her tonight.
Day 13
Reimu was presented with a live yukkuri that had had its hair and accessories removed, its mouth burnt shut, and its feet burnt. Reimu seemed mildly disappointed by the lackluster presentation and failed to identify it as a yukkuri.
Day 16
Reimu was given a yukkuri lacking hair, accessories, and mouth, but fully mobile. Reimu seemed frustrated at having to chase her munch-munch around the enclosure, but refused to regard it as anything other than munch-munch.
Day 19
Two koreimus with mouths burnt shut but no other alterations made were placed in Reimu's enclosure. The kos predictably saw Reimu as a mother figure and attempted to rub-rub with her; Reimu unhesitatingly devoured them and demanded more sweet-sweets from the researcher, as this had been insufficient.
Day 21
A Reimu/Marisa couple was placed in the enclosure with the test subject. Despite having been fed nothing but fellow Reimu-types and non-magical pastries with the same filling as Reimu-types, the test subject warmly greeted her fellow Reimu while devouring Marisa and tuning out her protests that she wasn't munch-munch. The other Reimu is afraid of the test subject.
Day 22
The second Reimu was removed, and a raper-type Alice was introduced. Alice managed to successfully rape Reimu but was eaten in the process. Reimu is now growing stalks.
Day 23
The researcher tasked with bringing Reimu her breakfast reported no stalks growing from Reimu, and furthermore Reimu claimed not to be hungry.
Day 24
A non-bodied Remilia-type was released into Reimu's enclosure and predictably announced its intentions to eat Reimu. Reimu seemed nonplussed and told Remilia that she would be the one who would be eaten. Reimu consumed Remilia and accosted the researcher for not bringing her something sweeter.
Day 26
Reimu has begun to express a desire to have a family and makes death threats against the researchers for only bringing her other Reimus as companions, saying she can't mate with them. It is still unknown why she will readily eat other Reimus as long as they can't speak, even if they have their trademark hair and ribbons, but will recognize them and only them as fellow yukkuri if they can speak to her.
Day 29
Reimu's depression at being "denied" a family has worsened, even though she's receiving Marisa-types thrice daily, some of which have come on to her. Other types have been brought in as well.
Day 31
Reimu's inability to recognize yukkuri types other than Reimu as being yukkuri continues, yet her depression has ended. Apparently the rare "PC-98 variants" of such common yukkuri as Reimu, Marisa, and Alice are actually separate yukkuri from their more common "Windows" variants. Dr. [name removed] is lodging a formal complaint about my unwillingness to return his escaped bodied yukkuri.
Day 32
PC-98 Reimu seems hesitant to eat the fruits of Windows Reimu's "hunt-hunt", but Windows Reimu insists that she needs lots of munch-munch for the sake of the babies, and so PC-98 Reimu eats.
Day 33
Windows Reimu seems to vaguely recognize the reason that PC-98 Reimu was hesitant to eat yesterday, as she's taken to eating the hats, hair, and eyes from the Marisas she kills before bringing them to PC-98 Reimu. PC-98 is vocally pleased that Windows Reimu "isn't the uneasy yukkuri that [she] had feared," and is furthermore impressed with Windows Reimu's ability to hunt down such sweet-sweets on such a regular basis. However, she warns that kos shouldn't be fed such sweet food right away or else their taste buds will be unable to handle anything else, which is predictably met with "Are you stupid? Wanna die?"
Day 34
Reimu and Reimu's babies arrive—two PC-98's and a Windows, via mammalian birth. Food suitable for a ko's undeveloped taste buds was provided. Windows Reimu shat on it and instead opted to wait for the Marisa-and-Alice pair that she'd been given to refresh with one another, at which point she fed the kos their stalk, babies and all, while she and her wife partook of the Alice; the Marisa was left for later.
Day 35
A lone Alice-type (raper) was provided. Windows Reimu said that this was no good, that the little ones "needed little food". At the mention of little ones, Alice attempted to rape Reimu. Alice was unable to impregnate Reimu before having her paste core eaten out. Reimu continues to ask for "little munch-munch". PC-98 Reimu and the kos partake in the Marisa from yesterday.
Day 36
An entire family of Reimus, lacking mouths, was introduced. Cannibal Reimu recognized that the "sweet-sweets" didn't see her as a threat and led them back to the nest, where she killed them in front of her family and explained to her children that this was how hunt-hunt worked. PC-98 Reimu seemed horrified, recognizing the food as "uneasy yukkuri", but eventually, Windows Reimu's insistence that she didn't eat yukkuri convinced PC-98 Reimu that she was mistaken.
Day 42
Windows Reimu took her children out for their first hunt-hunt. They performed admirably, pulling a Chen apart by its tails. Interestingly, unlike their father, the children responded properly to other yukkuris' greetings. It seems that, rather than being unable to recognize most yukkuri as being anything other than sweet-sweets, they simply believe that eating other yukkuri is the natural way of life.
Day 44
The children's predatory behavior continued, so last night, recordings of Remilias on the prowl were piped into the nest. As expected, by this morning, the children had taken on the Remilias' catchphrase, childishly announcing "Uu ~ Uu! Gonna eat you!" to their prey. Windows Reimu is trying to break them of this behavior, as it is not very stealthy and "Reimu's munch-munch should trust Reimu". This seems to confirm the hypothesis that the original test subject is aware that her kind aren't normally predatory and as such, other yukkuri won't inherently fear her the way they would a Remilia or a Flandre.
Day 45-morning
As PC-98 Reimu still shows no signs of approving of Windows Reimu's behavior, she was returned to Dr. [name removed]. The kos are quite upset at the disappearance of their mother, and Windows Reimu blames the researchers and refuses to believe that "[PC-98] Reimu left because [Windows] Reimu is an uneasy yukkuri who eats other yukkuri." Reimu still insists that she doesn't eat other yukkuri.
Day 45-evening
As Cannibal Reimu slept, a Remilia dosed with Viyugra was introduced. Reimu woke up shortly after Remilia began to refresh with her and seemed unafraid of Remilia, even joining her in her cries of "Refreshed!"
Day 46
Reimu has a healthy stalk full of Reimus and Remilias. Remilia has not eaten any of the babies, though said babies refuse to listen to Remilia's claims of being their "new mommy". Babies have attempted to eat Remilia, but Remilia's regenerative abilities outpace these attempts, so Remilia isn't concerned and allows it to go on. Payroll department is already on my case about this latest development, as overnight observation was not budgeted for this experiment and the amount of overtime that was required for this past night was quite hefty.
Day 48
Reimu commented on Remilia bringing back a Flandre-type, the first time she's recognized her prey as being a yukkuri. Come to think of it, she actively responded to the Remilia on Day 24. Working hypothesis is that Reimu only recognizes predatory yukkuri as being yukkuri, and that Reimu-types are an exception to this rule because her paste-brain reasons that since she is a Reimu and she's a predator, Reimus must be predators. That said, she's absolutely disgusted by the thought of eating the Flandre, asking that Remilia eat it herself because "Reimu doesn't eat other yukkuri", though she still ate it in the end.
Day 49
Unlike Reimu when faced with the same situation, Remilia has not taken to ripping apart yukkuri before bringing them back to the family. Babies were born in the late afternoon, three Remilias and two Reimus. Remilia-types tried to eat their Reimu sisters and were smacked across the room by their mother's braids. Reimu admonishes them that they don't eat family and voices concern about them eventually learning how to hunt yukkuri. The first litter of kos reminds her that even though she's their daddy, she's mommy to the new brood, and as such, it's Remilia's job to teach them to hunt. In the most remarkable display of yukkuri stupidity I have ever seen, this provokes the standard "WHY IS REMILIA HERE?!" response from new mother Reimu, complete with trying to sacrifice her children to save herself. Even Remilia is left speechless, having fully accepted her role as mate to this Reimu.
Night 49
Mercifully I was staying late at the office. After having slept, Remilia woke up, saw an adult Reimu without a stalk bearing Remilias on its head, and decided it was munch-munch. I intervened in time to stop her from munching on her "mate". Was the fact that Reimu had already grown the stalk by the time Remi came out of the Viyugra haze the only thing keeping Remilia from eating her? However, this doesn't explain why she never tried to eat any of the kos. Reimu's kos with PC-98 Reimu are actively attacking Remilia, as they still have yet to accept her as "family" and just witnessed her attack their father. For the safety of all involved, adult Remilia has been removed.
Day 52
Reimu is overwhelmed by the demands of having eight kos and demands a mate, but specifically forbids a Remilia or a Flandre. After a moment's thought, she adds Reimu to the list of forbidden ones, with an added admonition to the researcher using a curse word that I'd not previously known yukkuri to use, preceded by the adjective "sick". Researcher asks her what type of mate she wants, and she says that a Marisa would be nice, maybe an Alice as long as it wasn't a raper. Reimu was asked about this again as a Marisa was brought in, and she once again confirmed that she wanted to mate with a Marisa, even as she bit off the face of a perfectly willing specimen. Told what she'd done, she responded, "That's not Marisa! That's munch-munch!" and then launched into a perfectly accurate description of Marisa, asking the researcher if he was blind and stupid for not being able to see that her munch-munch clearly did not have a black hat or yellow braid or sparkling eyes—all of which it did have. Audio recordings of Marisa-types will be piped into Reimu's nest tonight.
Day 53
Reimu seems worn out by the constant "greeting" that "Marisa" gave. Perhaps we shouldn't have used a recording that contained the phrase "take it easy"? A non-sentient manjuu with a Marisa's hair and hat pasted on was introduced, and Reimu did Rub-Rub with it and smacked her children back when they tried to eat it, claiming that "Marisa isn't munch-munch!" An actual Marisa was then introduced and was summarily devoured. Finally, a second Marisa was introduced and allowed to begin eating the manjuu (Marisa seemed flattered by the fact that it looked just like her), and offered to share with Reimu, who promptly yelled at the "munch-munch" to stop bullying "Marisa" and killed it. It is unknown at this time whether the sleep deprivation caused by the previous night's audio loop has led Reimu to hallucinating Marisa's voice coming from the stationary manjuu or if she simply recognizes the shape as being that of Marisa, but can't recognize an actual Marisa as a Marisa because it's moving and that means it's prey.
Day 54
No audio last night. A Marisa with its own hair and accessory removed and a Reimu's hair and accessory pasted on was introduced. As expected, Reimu insisted that the newcomer was also Reimu, even though it insisted it was Marisa. Marisa attempted to rub-rub with Reimu anyway, but Reimu was disinterested and called the researchers "sick bastards" again. Marisa was summarily removed.
Day 55
Experiment from previous day repeated again, this time with a Raper Alice. Reimu again saw its attacker as a fellow Reimu, but because of the rape tendencies, defended herself. She refused to eat the custard that emerged, however. Her children had no such compunctions and remarked that that Reimu tasted like Alice. Mother/Father Reimu asked them why they'd say that and insisted that their family never ate other yukkuri.
Day 56
A Reimu with a Marisa's hair and accessory in place of its own was introduced. Cannibal Reimu called it "uneasy munch-munch" before eating it, which she did far more voraciously than normal.
Day 57
Cannibal Reimu given Viyugra and a Marisa to refresh with. Reimu referred to Marisa by name while refreshing with her.
Day 58
Marisa has noticeable scarring that wasn't there yesterday, as though bites had been taken out of her but were healed via Lick-Lick. PC-98 Reimu's children are as far away from the nest as the enclosure will allow. Seems they were exiled for attacking Cannibal Reimu's new mate.
Day 60
Marisa gave birth to the new kos—4 Marisas and 3 Reimus. Reimu fed them their mother and then immediately complained about being a single mother to all of those kos, and demanded that "useless father Marisa" pull her weight.
Day 61
PC-98 Reimu's children are back in the nest. They and Remilia's children are doing all the "hunting", despite Reimu protesting that they shouldn't have to hunt because that's "daddy's" job. PC-98 Reimu's children insist that Reimu is daddy, but they are overwhelmed on the subject by the other twelve kos. Windows Reimu's constant insistence that she is mommy, not daddy, to the newborns has convinced them.
Day 62
Reimu continues to show no interest in hunting, claiming that her husband will take care of that. Asked what her husband's name is, she insults the researcher and insists that it's the Great Marisa, of course.
Day 63
A Marisa-type sex doll (for Alice-types) was introduced. Reimu perked up, recognizing it not as munch-munch but as Marisa. She seems pleased that Marisa is spending so much time with the children even as she manages to hunt-hunt (actually researchers delivering food directly to the nest).
Day 66
We have a breakthrough! An Alice-type was brought in today and proceeded to go for the sex doll. Reimu defended her "mate" and correctly identified Alice as a yukkuri, threatening that she'd become munch-munch if she didn't leave "Marisa" alone. Alice, predictably, did not, and Reimu ate her. "Munch, munch…this shit's good!" The classic phrase of a yukkuri that's been forced into cannibalism.
Day 67
Reimu has returned to hunting and is properly identifying her kills. When Reimu-types are brought in, she still sees them as competition for the munch-munch. She shows no concerns about killing Marisa-types, even though her mate is a Marisa.
Day 69
Sex Doll Marisa was removed and replaced with a live Marisa while Reimu was out hunting. The koyukkuri immediately identified her as "daddy" and refused to listen to her protests that she wasn't their daddy. When Reimu returned, she asked what the "scum Marisa" had done with "Reimu's Marisa" and refused to listen to researchers who claimed that the two were one and the same. Of course, Marisa didn't help her own case by disagreeing with the researchers just as vehemently.
Day 70
Reimu is back to calling herself a single parent and is wishing she'd find that special someone who could be daddy to her kos.
Day 75
Reimu's frustration has been growing, as none of the yukkuri brought in on a daily basis have had what it takes to win Reimu over. Reimu continues to recognize them as proper yukkuri, however.
Day 77
Dr. [name removed] has offered up one of the bodied yukkuri from his PC-98 research project, a Marisa (blonde like the Windows variants, not the redheaded ones), for my project. Reimu is instantly smitten. So are PC-98 Reimu's children. Marisa seems more interested in the PC-98heads than in parent Reimu or her Windows-era child. Dr. [name removed] reports that the bodied yukkuri is roughly the same age as the children in question. When this fact is relayed to Test Subject α, she blurts out "I'm not a lolicon!" Records are consulted and while PC-98 Reimu was fully matured, the Remilia that she'd at least temporarily been willing to mate with was mildly underaged and the model of sex doll given to her was, as it turned out, advertised as the yukkuri equivalent of "barely legal".
Day 78
Reimu and Marisa hunt together, but also separately. Reimu only kills other yukkuri when she's away from her mate. Marisa, being bodied, wants to be the one to do all the hunting. Marisa still seems unnerved by the presence of the Koremilias, but she accepts them as part of the family and is not put off when they bring back dead yukkuris.
Day 81
A fellow researcher noticed something odd in the Day 77 notes. Reimu, who has still been sneaking out of the nest to hunt yukkuris, is asked a number of questions. Reimu again uses the phrase "I'm not a lolicon" (emphasis mine) when pressed on the subject of her sexual preferences but refers to herself in the third person on all other instances. No hypotheses regarding this inconsistency have been formulated.
Day 102
It's been three weeks since anything worth noting happened. All yukkuris' behavior has continued to remain the same; Mother Reimu is still hunting yukkuris and hiding this fact from Marisa, and all children from PC-98 Reimu and Remilia are still predatory as well. PC-98 Marisa's influence has kept Marisa's children from becoming predatory. No further conclusions seem to be possible in captivity; the subjects will have trackers embedded in their dough and will be released into the wild for further observation, with the exception of the three Koremilias as the presence of a recognized predator would alert any potential clans of Reimu's uneasiness.
Day 108
A wild clan in the nearby forest has experienced a number of "mysterious" disappearances. Blame is flying around freely in every direction except the newcomers, as any attempt to blame them is shot down due to the instantly beloved Marisa. Many of the survivors are even considering rebelling against "uneasy Dosu who can't protect [insert Yukkuri type here]" in favor of making Bodied Marisa their new leader.
Day 109
The clan's Patchouli population has been wiped out. This comes as little surprise as the Patchoulis were the only ones who'd even entertained the idea that "Idol Marisa's Reimu" was an uneasy yukkuri who had been deceiving Marisa, and that Marisa's bulletproof image shouldn't automatically extend to Reimu.
Day 110
Reimu seems to be struggling to keep up her image as the clan rebellion continues. The dosu grows angrier at the rebellion and has begun killing her own clan, and Reimu and her children are clearly pained by the fact that such delicious munch-munch is just sitting out there in the open and they can't be seen eating it.
Day 111
The coup is complete. The PC-98 Reimus managed to raid the "battlefield" and removed the dead yukkuris' accessories, then snuck them under Dosu's hat. Dosu failed to recognize the yukkuri corpses for what they were and ate them, at which point the Reimus told the clan what Dosu had just done and revealed the presence of the stolen accessories. The clan is united against their former Dosu.
Day 112
Dosu is dead, and the Reimus have somehow managed to convince the clan that it would be karmic justice for Dosu to become munch-munch, since that's what "she'd" been doing to them. Marisa, as the new leader, has tried to convince them otherwise, but they aren't listening because Dosu tastes too good. A phenomenon where a yukkuri who tastes their fellow yukkuris tends to grow to like the taste has been noted in the past, so the possibility of continued cannibalism in the tribe is fairly likely.
Day 114
The clan was attacked by a group of Flandres today. Clan suffered some casualties, but due to superior numbers, they defeated and ate the Flandres. PC-98 Marisa is fed up with "her" clan not listening to her and has threatened to leave.
Day 115
PC-98 Marisa has two stalks growing from her head. Babies appear to be PC-98 Marisas and Windows Reimus only; initial test subject is assumed to be the father.
Day 120
Because the majority of the babies ended up bodied like their mother, pregnancy took longer than in previous instances. Marisa has again threatened to leave despite the difficulty of taking newborn bodied kos with her.
Day 121
Remnants of aborted babies have been found, and one of the PC-98 Reimus was attacked. Further PC-98 Reimus appear to be among the aborted babies, suggesting that the attack was a retaliation for the PC-98 Reimu raping her "adoptive father".
Day 122
Clan is again splintering, with the majority continuing to support PC-98 Marisa but a minority (mostly young) opting to follow the charismatic PC-98 Reimus. Original test subject is publicly on the side of the former, but seems to actually support the latter group. Her documented lolicon tendencies may be the reason for this.
Day 123
Clan has again proclaimed Marisa to be their leader at urging of PC-98 Reimus. Clan as a whole does not seem to show cannibalistic tendencies with the exception of former test subjects, who refrained from using clan yukkuris as their munch-munch for today.
Day 128
Former test subjects continue to hunt away from the clan. Due to the typical short yukkuri memory and the lack of clan deaths, none of their clanmates suspect them of being predatory. Observation will continue until further notice.
Day 135
With no change in behavior over the past week, active observation will cease temporarily. Observation will resume in winter.
Day 225
Observation resumes.
Day 226
Observation will be conducted remotely using hidden cameras due to the difficulty in properly hiding from yukkuris who do not leave their nests. The original test subject's nest appears to have bean paste among the food supply, but no recognizable corpses. The three children born on Day 34 are not living with their father and, in the absence of any mates to disapprove, their food stores contain recognizable corpses including Reimu-types. Subjects have reverted to referring to original test subject as "daddy", having previously switched to calling her "mommy" on Day 62 following the incident on Day 61, though a lack of proper observation at the time leaves me unclear as to whether this change occurred when they left their father's nest or when their youngest sisters, who like them were fathered by Test Subject α, were born on Day 120. Yukkuris born on Day 60, despite also being fathered by Test Subject α, continue to refer to her as their mother.
Day 257
Both the Day 49 births and the Day 60 births appear to desire independence from their parents.
Day 331
Subjects' clan has tentatively determined it to be spring, though wintry weather is forecasted for later this week. The 12 children born to Test Subject α during her time in captivity and released with her on Day 102 are among those clan yukkuri searching for mates. Test Subject α seems to expect the lone non-bodied yukkuri born on Day 120 (Windows Reimu) to be searching for a mate as well, but not her four bodied sisters (two Windows Reimus and two PC-98 Marisas). I consulted Dr. [name removed] as to whether bodied yukkuri are considered by yukkuri to be "immature" for longer than non-bodied ones. Dr. [name removed] initially claimed that this ran somewhat contrary to his previous findings that, while newborn bodied yukkuris are "babied" far more severely than their non-bodied sisters, the non-bodied ones are babied for a greater duration. However, when given the specific details that spurred the question, he conceded that non-bodied parents in particular would "cling" to their bodied children for far longer than non-bodied ones and that the working theory was that yukkuri recognize bodies as being inherently useful and therefore bodied children are considered more "capable" and less needy of their parents' assistance once the initial awkward "head larger than body" phase is passed, but because of this, particularly selfish non-bodied parents will try to keep their children from ever leaving the nest due to the usefulness that bodied yukkuris have when it comes to gathering food. This appears to be supported by my team's research, as PC-98 Marisa and her children are beloved by the entire clan. That the two PC-98 Reimus are almost as beloved despite lacking bodies is not explained, and I wonder if the fact that their ilk do have a high incidence of being bodied is a contributing factor, or perhaps even some inherent sense that they are children of a bodied yukkuri (despite none of the clan having ever met their mother) and as such might hold a greater likelihood of conceiving bodied children. Dr. [name removed] assures me that non-bodied children of bodied yukkuri are no more or less likely than other non-bodied yukkuri of mothering or fathering bodied yukkuri.
Day 332
Dr. [name removed] and his team will be joining my team in studying this clan. Both PC-98 Reimus refreshed with two yukkuri, an Alice and a Chen for the elder and a Marisa and a Youmu for the younger. All 10 developing kos (1 Alice, 2 Chens, 1 Marisa, 1 Youmu, and 5 PC-98 Reimus, with each of the four mothers-to-be having at least one Reimu and Marisa having a second) are bodied, as are both the Marisa and the Reimu on the stalk of a Marisa who refreshed with the Windows Reimu born on Day 34. All four of the PC-98 Reimus' partners believe their partner to be completely faithful and their partner's sister to be a "slut" who refreshed with three different yukkuri.
Day 335
As the weather forecast predicted, wintry weather returned. Some wild Patchoulis from outside the clan happened to be in the area and desired to take shelter with them. The clan attempted to turn them away and when this failed they attacked the Patchoulis, distrusting "uneasy yukkuris who think they know it all." Apparently anti-Patchouli propaganda was employed at some point to keep out those who might become wise to the clan's dark secret. The clan's warriors seemed pleased that the corpses of the "scum yukkuri" they'd killed "went away on [their] own" and didn't question it, wishing they could train their poo-poo to do that. The five future mothers of bodied yukkuri, meanwhile, were quite pleased that their husbands brought them such delicious munch-munch for the growing babies and also didn't question it.
Day 337
The clan was attacked by Remilias early this morning, but casualties were minimal. Two Remilias were left alive and refreshed with by the two Reimus born on Day 46, with additional crippling being done periodically to keep them from escaping. Reimus are being hailed as heroes for stopping the Remilias.
Day 338
Test Subject α's Mamu-Mamu seems swollen. Observation reveals that she claims to be an expectant mother as well.
Day 340
Children conceived on Day 337 are born. Mothers immediately attempt to eat their Reimu children and are beaten to a pulp and fed to the children.
Day 341
13 bodied yukkuri were born today, including a lone bodied PC-98 Marisa born via the mammalian method to Test Subject α. Dr. [name removed] states that the difference in gestation periods is more a function of the number of children than the difference in birth methods, though bodied yukkuris born via the mammalian method to non-bodied mothers are almost inevitably single births anyway. Upon reveal of the true fathers of all babies, the pairs of yukkuris whose babies shared a father began to fight. Observation team was nearly discovered due to how hard they started laughing when the fight between Alice, whose racial tendency towards being easily refreshed was still present despite the lack of the raper tendency, and Chen, who was just naturally energetic as per her race's norms, ended with both exclaiming "WHY ARE THERE BABIES?!" All five of their children seemed pleased at the prospect of new little sisters, though somewhat mad at their mothers for "jeading on Daddy". Marisa saw this result and backed away from Youmu, but Youmu took this as an opportunity to land a killing blow. Marisa's children began verbally accosting Youmu, who turned upon them, but Test Subject δ stepped in and said "Are you stupid? Wanna die? Reimu's Youmu is the strong Mommy that Reimu's little ones need. Reimu's Youmu would never hurt little ones unless Youmu wants to take it easy forever." Test Subjects β and γ moved to back her up on this, so Youmu backed down and accepted her role as mother of five despite having only given birth to two little ones.
Day 344
Alice and Chen have given birth to their "accidental babies"—5 Alices and 3 Chens, with two of each being mothered by Chen while Alice mothered 3 of her own kind and one Chen. All eight call their parents by the proper title for their role in the pregnancy. However, they start to Puff-Puff when one of the children born on Day 341 calls Test Subject β "Daddy", insisting that "Weimyu (Test Subject β) ijn'd Daddy! Daddy ij Daddy!" or "Mommy ij Daddy!" depending on which of their parents mothered the big sister in question. Even though two of the big sisters in question are themselves Reimu-types, all eight of the newborns firmly believe that their big sisters were likewise born of a union between Alice and Chen. Test Subject β is not discouraging this behavior, nor trying to assert herself as "daddy" to the newborns.
Day 352
Alice, Chen, Youmu, and Marisa [mated with Test Subject γ] have attempted to scold their husbands for spoiling the kos with such sweet food all the time, but tend to be easily silenced with sweet-sweets of their own. None of them suspect that they are eating dead yukkuris. Alice and Chen continue to hate each other, both wanting Test Subject β to themselves, and visibly bristle every time one of the kos born on Day 344 refers to the other one as its opposite parent.
Day 353
The kos born on Day 344 remain blissfully ignorant to the fact that their parents hate each other, even as Alice and Chen both unsuccessfully try not only to convince the four kos that they'd given birth to that Test Subject β is "Daddy", but also to convince the four kos that the other one had given birth to that Test Subject β is "Mommy". It is a testament to the stubbornness of these children that despite being bombarded with conflicting information from their parents—the phrases "Alice is Daddy, Reimu is Mommy"; "Alice is Mommy, Reimu is Daddy"; "Chen is Daddy, Reimu is Mommy"; and "Chen is Mommy, Reimu is Daddy" all being thrown around, usually with a claim that "Chen/Alice is lying!"—they avoid becoming uneasy and remain steadfast in their knowledge that Chen and Alice are, in some order, Mommy and Daddy. They have begun to see their bodied big sisters as "uneasy", however, for believing "Weimyu's" lies that she is their Daddy rather than whichever of their parents isn't that sister's Mommy. Test Subject β has tried to point out to them that it's their own parents who are spouting those lies and that she has never claimed to be Daddy to any of [the eight born on Day 344], but they continue to call her a lying uneasy yukkuri for claiming to be the father of any of the thirteen. It probably doesn't help that like most yukkuri, any number above three is "lots" to them, as Test Subject β did indeed father five children and as such has "lots of little ones".
Day 354
Test Subject β is fed up with being verbally accosted by her mates' accidental children and has volunteered them as her Remilia nieces' first hunt-hunt. Test Subjects η and ι have declined this offer, however, as the clan is already uneasy enough around the young Remilias and would likely order them killed if they attacked other clan yukkuris.
Day 362
A yukkuri hunter managed to illegally enter the clan's territory (protected by our lab). Three of the babies born on Day 344 were among the casualties, and one of Test Subject δ's babies was stolen. Thankfully, we'd chipped all of them, so we were able to track him down by her signal. Subject δ-5's hands and face were covered in miracle fruit jam when she was recovered, and she had affixed what were quite recognizably Sanae accessories to her hair. [Assistant] cleaned her up and removed the accessories; Subject δ-5 was happy when being cleaned, but grabbed at the accessories and said "Shdawp! Thad'z Weimu'sh dweasuwe! Gibe dem bagg!" [Note: due to the number of specimens involved in this study at this time, the mates and children of Test Subject α's children have been designated with a number and the symbol corresponding to the relevant child.]
Day 363
Subject δ-5 remains depressed at the loss of her "treasure".
Day 364
Subject δ-5's mood has improved as she has a new "dweasuwe" given to her by "Goujin Mawisha", aka Subject γ-2. Treasure appears to all yukkuris in the clan to simply be an innocuous pair of red spheres, similar to γ-2's own "treasure", but the faint smell of cucumber is detectable upon them, marking the two treasures as having collectively once been a Nitori-type's accessory.
Day 365
Evidence that PC-98 Reimu's three children are teaching their own children how to hunt yukkuris continues to mount up, as Subject β-3 (Reimu) was seen playing "jump rope" with a bright yellow "rope" with a white ribbon on it. Subject β-4 joined her sister after a bit, coming up with all sorts of "city-sect rhymes" (note that Subject β-4 is the only ko to have already lost her slur.) None of the other yukkuris in the clan suspects anything. On another note, Subject β-1 (Alice) impregnated Subject β-2 (Chen) again, though it was once again what humans would refer to as "hatesex". Test Subject β seemed more amused by this development than anything else and declared that "Alice is a bad girl, so Alice must get punished!" Said punishment involved a rather brutal sodomization; Alice proceeded to grow stalks of her own, which confounded the research team at first as stalk growth following Peni-Peni insertion into a Mamu-Mamu had previously only been seen when the father was a Raper Alice or when Viyugra had been used, but upon further examination, Test Subject β's Peni-Peni had actually been in Alice's anyaru, not her Mamu-Mamu, and as such the insemination had in fact occurred via the Rub-Rub method.
Day 366
Alice and Chen's continued tussles resulted in the death of all children conceived the previous day. Neither seems too concerned about it. Reimu, on the other hand, is furious that the babies she'd given Alice are dead. The children are also furious. Incidentally, while Subjects β-3 through β-7 believe that said children were the product of the love between their father and Alice, Subjects β-8 through β-15 believe that their mother/father was raped by Reimu, but even recognizing that Reimu was the one who physically fathered the babies, they still consider Chen to have killed "her own babies"; that is to say, they believe that Chen is the father of the babies that were growing on Alice's stalk.
Day 368
The fighting between Alice and Chen has reached the point where even the children they'd conceived with each other recognize that their parents aren't happy together, and are angrily harassing their parents. However, they still attack their big sisters for daring to call Test Subject β "daddy", which is what she actually is to them.
Day 369
Subjects β-11 and β-14 were gone this morning, but because the yukkuri can't count past three, only Subjects β-10, β-12, and β-13 noticed (due to the change in the number of "little sisters". How they can inherently tell whether a sister from the same litter is a big sister or a little sister continues to elude all research). Because the parents, older sisters, and littlest sister still counted "lots", the three of them weren't believed, and pouted at being given less food than their sisters as punishment for lying. Reviewing the overnight footage reveals that they were eaten by their bodied half-sisters.
Day 370
Subjects β-10, β-12, and β-13 were gone as well. This time, Alice and Chen noticed that they only had three little ones without bodies, and β-8 and β-9 noticed that they no longer had "lots" of little sisters; β-15, unlike her parents, didn't differentiate between big sisters with bodies and big sisters without and remained blissfully unaware of how many of her big sisters were missing, as she still had "lots" of big sisters. Of course, being that they were both hopelessly devoted to Reimu, they blamed each other for the disappearance, claiming that "Chen/Alice killed Alice's/Chen's babies because Chen/Alice is jealous that Alice/Chen has lots of babies with Reimu." They now seem to fully believe that all of the babies that they'd parented, be it as mother or as father, that Reimu was the other parent, even though β-8, β-9, and β-15 are in fact the three children whose types match their respective fathers.
Day 371
Subject β-2 is dead, having been refreshed to death by Subject β-1. Subjects β-3 through β-7 helped to "bury" her, but the "grave" actually led to a tunnel dug by Subjects δ-4 (Marisa), γ-2, and δ-7 (Youmu). Subjects β-8, β-9, and β-15 were quite audibly pleased at the taste of their deceased parent, though they remained unaware that that's what they'd eaten.
Day 374
Dr. [another researcher], the lab's foremost expert on Nature vs. Nurture in yukkuris, was called in today in response to the development that Subjects β-9 and β-15, the two remaining non-bodied Alices (mothered by the late Chen, fathered by the Alice who raped said Chen to death), have developed classical raper tendencies. Subjects ν-3 (herself an Alice-type, fathered by the Marisa designated Test Subject ν) and π-2 (a Reimu-type like her mother, Test Subject π; also fathered by a Marisa) were among those raped to death. As ν and π were among those given a "proper" upbringing by Clan Leader Marisa (aka Test Subject σ), fathered as they were by the late Test Subject λ, ν-3 and π-2 received proper burials. However it was later discovered that Subject β-9 had absconded with Subject ν-3's hairband as a trophy.
Day 375
Subject β-5 insists, when pressed upon the issue, that she has always had "lots" of earrings. "Don't get it! Stupid Marisa thinks Chen was born with only two earrings? Wanna become munch-munch? Extra earrings are Chen's beautiful treasure!" The willful ignorance of the rest of this clan is astounding; Chen explicitly uses "become munch-munch" instead of the usual "die" when threatening Marisa, and simultaneously claims the extra earrings as having been her accessory that was always there and also as her "treasure", and still no one suspects that Test Subjects α through δ, η, and ι are cannibals and have been raising their children to be cannibals—and, in the cases of Subjects β-8, β-9, and β-15, said children are grooming their half-sisters to be cannibalistic as well.
Day 381
Subjects τ, υ, φ, and χ (bodied yukkuri born Day 120) have not returned to the clan since yesterday. Test Subject α seems unconcerned.
Day 387
Rare yukkuri types have joined the clan in droves, led by Subjects τ, υ, φ, and χ. Subject τ (Windows Reimu) has taken a Sanae for a mate (δ-5 stares hungrily at τ-1 and all other Sanaes among the newcomers); υ (PC-98 Marisa) has taken a Mima; φ (also PC-98 Marisa) has taken a Shinki; and χ (another Windows Reimu) has taken a Byakuren. Φ-1 brought along with her a number of PC-98 Alices, which Test Subject α looks at with a different type of "hungry eyes" than what δ-5 has for the Sanaes.
Day 388
Well, apparently even this clan has some limit to their stupidity. Subject δ-5 was once again found wearing a Sanae's accessories along with her own, and the clan recognized that she'd stolen "a dead yukkuri's accessories", though they failed to realize that it was one of their own or that δ-5 herself had killed said Sanae.
Day 390
It is with great sadness that I report the conclusion of Test Subject α's involvement in this study. She was caught raping PC-98 Alices, and the clan has decreed that she is to be put to death. To interfere with the meting out of this punishment would compromise any further study, not to mention that the newly reinforced clan actually has Eiki-types in it (Test Subject α unsuccessfully attempted to bribe the Eikis with sexual favors, which seemed odd because they weren't particularly young and they weren't bodied, leaving me to wonder why Test Subject α treated them as "delicious lolis"), so the will of the tribe must be carried out. Secretly I held out hope that the cannibals would show their true colors and try to eat their way out of this mess, and…well, Test Subject α tried to do this, but was summarily flattened by a Hakurei Orb. Several smaller Orbs and something vaguely resembling a Spark also came for her, though they were ineffective. The sources of these assaults were none other than her own children and grandchildren. Apparently they had decided that their father could compromise them all if she'd tried to escape in such a manner and that she needed to be put down. For this clan, that actually doesn't seem very likely; they'd probably just assume that Test Subject α had gone mad at the prospect of taking it easy forever.
Day 420
Test Subject δ's Hakurei Orb still seems to have been a one-time thing, but Subjects β-3, β-4, β-6, γ-2, γ-3, and δ-3 through δ-7 all seem to be developing abilities in line with their namesakes—Hakurei Orbs for β-3, β-6, γ-3, δ-3, δ-5, and δ-6; Master Sparks for γ-2 and δ-4; puppet strings for β-4; and a wakizashi and speed greater than any recorded Aya-type while wielding it for δ-7. β-5 and β-7, the two Chen-types, seem to lack any such abilities. Perhaps Chen-types just don't have what it takes to ever become Dosus? Because these are unmistakably Dosu-class abilities. The clan has the highest praise for the ten of them—"as expected from the children of the children of Great Leader Marisa". Huh, so the rest of the clan identifies Test Subjects β through δ as being the children of Test Subject σ? Interesting. Perhaps to them, all Reimus are Reimus and as such, a Windows Reimu and a PC-98 Marisa could give birth to a PC-98 Reimu—even though that's clearly not the case.
Day 432
The clan is in a joyous mood as their leader has taken a new wife, who is already expecting a child. In a supreme bit of irony, Subject σ-1 is a PC-98 Alice, one who specifically considered the Alice that Test Subject α was caught with her Peni-Peni inside to be her "little sister". The Alice in question survived the rape itself but has since died due to the uneasiness it caused, and σ-1's older sister was raped to death prior to the younger one's rape, so σ-1 lost both of her sisters to Test Subject α's lolicon tendencies. And yet, here she is, the glowing newlywed and expectant mother, in love with the yukkuri whose previous lover had killed both of her sisters.
Day 439
Alice has given birth to two Alices and a Marisa, all bodied like their parents. The entire tribe dotes on them, including their nominal nieces who aren't actually paste relatives of theirs at all. Said nieces brought them their favorite treasures, which appear to be musical instruments stolen from a Benben/Yatsuhashi/Raiko "band"; the two Alices enjoy the stringed instruments because they have strings and make "chidy-shegd" sounds, and Marisa thinks that the drumsticks are broomsticks.
Day 441
Subjects σ-2 through σ-4 continue to play with their favored treasures; σ-4 now frequently runs around with a drumstick between her legs saying "Mawisha ish fwying in je shgy, ze!" before crying when she inevitably trips and falls and hurts herself on the stick in question. The Alices are more staid, having quickly figured out that their treasures can be used to create city-sect music, though neither they nor any other yukkuri in the clan aside from the cannibals are aware that said instruments are yukkuri accessories. The clan lacks any yukkuri of those varieties and always has, so it's possible none of them are even familiar with the types.
Day 484
The bodied yukkuri born on Day 341 have matured to the point that they have been allowed to form the bulk of the clan's "hunters", along with their cousins the Remilias and non-bodied Reimus and their Reimu parents. The clan does not question there being non-bodied Reimus among the hunters, despite the breed not being known for their hunting ability, and the entire clan is now fed by the cannibals descended from Test Subject α. With no oversight, the subjects have taken to openly hunting yukkuri, though they still make sure that the food is no longer recognizable as such before bringing it back to the clan (being bodied, they're able to haul food back in wheelbarrows—left by my team for them to "find"). Entire clan is now subsisting primarily on yukkuri, though most still don't realize it. Observation will be scaled back.
Day 575
It's been nearly 100 days since the cannibals became the clan's primary hunters, and no other clan yukkuri have taken to active cannibalism. Cameras will be set up to observe if this trend continues through the upcoming winter, but this study appears to be coming to a close.
Day 687
Winter has ended, and the only clan member that became munch-munch for its family was one that had willingly performed "eat up easy". This concludes the study.
CCX: …Holy crap this thing's longer than "Reimu's Accessory". I'm glad I started a new chapter for this; what will eventually be the final story of the next chapter was actually started before two of the other stories in said chapter, both of which were finished before this one was started. This one was originally called "Cannibalism Training" as that was the initial goal of the experiment, but once family dynamics came into play (and they inevitably will, because having lots of easy babies seems to be all yukkuris' primary goal in life), it just started growing beyond that. This is Cyberchao X, signing off easy.
