Mahou Sensei Ichigo!
Greetings, I have returned with another chapter to my story. Since the last chapter, I ended with another cliff hanger with Makie being captured by the stone golem. This chapter will be slightly longer than the others due to it covering two chapters from Negima as well as a few added scenes by me. Also, I have made a Twitter account for this story's updates. Chapter 13: Negi Springfield's Teaching Fate
"Kyaaaa! Negi-kun! Help me!", Makie cried out from the golem's hand.
"Hohoho~"
"Maki-chan!"
"Sasaki-san!"
Negi then rushed towards the giant statue whilst holding his staff, his face and eyes in a serious glare that none of the girls have seen before.
"Let her go! Don't pick on my students, otherwise I won't forgive you even if you are a statue!", Negi shouted.
When he got no answer from the golem, he brought his staff close to him whilst holding his index and middle fingers together. This stance caused everyone to look at him with curiosity.
"Ras Tel Ma Skir Magister... Undecim Spiritus Lucis... Coeuntes Sagitent Inimicum!", Negi chanted, making all the girls look at him in shock as his fingers begun to glow with a bright light. "Sagitta Magica! Take these Magic Arrows!"
While pointing at the golem, arrows of bright light shot from his hand and hit the golem hard enough to cause it to take a few steps backwards, loosening its grip around Makie so she could escape. Even as this happened, all the girls, save Makie, were looking at Negi in shock, especially Kaede, whose eyes actually opened a little.
After recovering, the golem stepped forward whilst laughing.
"Hohoho! You'll never get out of here alive even if you have a mage with you! You'd be better off just giving up now! It takes three days to get through the maze and back!", the golem declared, shocking all the girls out of their stupor.
"T... THREE DAYS!?"
"We won't make it back in time for the test –aru!"
"Everyone, don't give up!", Negi shouted at them as he raised his staff. "As long as I have my staff, we can get out of here in no time!"
"H-Hey! Negi-bouzu, what are you!?", Asuna said in shock while pointing at him.
"Asuna, we don't have time to worry about that right now! Our exam! Our exam!", Konoka said while shaking her friend.
"You're right, Konoka!", she agreed, "We can't give up now! No, we won't give up! We're gonna get the hell out of here before tomorrow's exam!"
Everyone nodded, until Yue noticed something on the golem.
"Everyone! Look at the golem's neck!", she said loudly.
Everyone turned to look at the golem, especially by its head where they noticed that there was a book there.
"Hey, isn't that the Book of Mel-whatever!?", Makie said aloud.
"Let's get that book first! Makie-san! Kaede-san! Ku-fei-san!", Yue commanded.
"Roger that, Baka Leader –de gozaru!", Kaede confirmed.
"I'll show you the power of a member of the Chinese Martial Arts Club –aru!", Ku-fei declared as she kicked the golem in its knee.
The golem yelled in pain as it stepped back. Kaede, whilst carrying Makie in her arms, jumped up on the golem's leg and running past its head. She then jumped off its shoulder while Makie used her ribbon to snatch the book. With that, they all started running towards where all their stuff was.
"Kyaaa! I've got the magic book!~", Makie cheered.
After getting their stuff, most of the girls got fully dressed and begun running away again as the golem lumbered after them.
"I've told you, you won't find a exit! Just give up and let me catch you!", the golem yelled.
After running, they came across a waterfall. Yue, who's read a few adventure books, quickly went behind the water and smiled in relief.
"There's a emergency exit here behind the waterfall!", Yue cried out in happiness.
Negi and the girls cheered as they ran towards the entrance, only to find out that the entrance was sealed behind a stone wall with a small plaque on it.
"What's this at a time like this?!", Asuna whined.
"Ah, look! There's something written over there, some kind of question!", Makie pointed out at the small plaque on the wall.
Indeed, on the small square was a question.
"It says "What is the past tense of "Read"?", Yue read aloud.
"Eeeh!? What!?"
"Why the hell is it asking us that!?"
Meanwhile, as the golem got closer, Ku-fei kicked it in the chest which caused it to stumble back until it fell onto its back, its single red eye glowing brighter in anger.
"Hmm? Oh! I know this one –aru!", Ku-fei said whilst she held the book when she looked back over her shoulder at the wall.
"The answer is "Read" –aru!"
As she said that, the stone wall slid back, revealing the way inside. As the group cheered again, they entered and begun running inside.
"I can't believe it actually opened!", Asuna grinned as she led the way. "Everyone! Hurry up and follow me!"
"Don't tell me... it's because of the book's power!?", Makie demanded Ku-fei while pointing at the book.
"I got smarted just by holding it –aru!", the Chinese girl answered.
The group continued running, only to stop as they looked up to see a large spiral staircase.
"Uwah! What's this!?", Asuna stated in shock and surprise.
"A spiral staircase!? Can we even climb this!?"
Without bothering for a answer, she ran up the stairs with Negi and the other girls following her. As they got quite high up, the golem punched its way through the wall and looked up towards them.
"Hold it right there!", it growled out at them.
"This is harder than training at the club!", Makie whined as she was panting slightly.
However, the group ignored the golem and ran further up, only to stop when they noticed a slab of concrete in front of them.
"Ah! Another wall with a question!", Negi pointed out.
"It is futile! Just give up and give that that book back!", the golem ordered them.
"Blehhh~"
"We're never gonna give it back –aru!"
"Wah! It's maths this time!"
"It says "Question 2: What is the value of X in the diagram below?"!"
"Ayah! The statue is coming closer! This is getting crazy!"
"Let me answer it –de gozaru", Kaede said as she took the book from Ku-fei. "Hm... X=46 degrees... –de gozaru."
"It opened! Maki-chan was right!"
"Whoa! Even Nagase-san answered it correctly!"
The group kept running further upstairs and passing the book between them, save Negi, and answered the questions. After answering nine more questions, Yue tripped on a root and collapsed on the stairs. She got dangerously close to the edge, but luckily Negi grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, which caused the blunette to blush a little.
"Yue-san, are you alright?", Negi asked in concern.
"I'm find, Negi-sensei..."
Negi smiled and helped her up, whilst Kaede walked to them and picked Yue up bridal-style.
"Leave her to me, Negi bouzu –de gozaru"
"Thank you, Kaede-san..."
"Nin nin!~~"
As the group continued higher up for over a hour, everyone was getting tired Eventually, after the final question, they all collapsed, noticing that the golem was a few flights below them. It was then Negi looked up and noticed something up ahead.
"Ah! Look over there!", he yelled as he pointed towards a elevator.
"It's a express elevator right to the surface!"
The girls cheered at this and made a final mad rush to the elevator and got inside. As soon as Konoka pressed the "up" button, a warning chime came up with a overweight message, which caused all of them to cry out in despair.
"We must have eaten too much over the last two days –aru yo!"
"Makie-san, how much do you wigh right now?"
"Don't ask me that! Ask Asuna or Nagase-san!"
"How rude, you should ask Ku-fei-dono –de gozaru."
Meanwhile, Asuna was testing the elevator's wight as she placed one foot outside, noticing the warning buzzer go off, but when she retracted her foot, it went on again.
"Everyone, stop! When I place my foot outside, the buzzer stops! All we have to is lose a little weight!", Asuna told them.
"Hohohoho! I have you kids now! Prepare yourselves!"
"Kyaaaaaaaaa!"
The girls were trapped and were about to strip when Negi stepped out of the elevator.
"Eh? Negi-bouzu!"
"Asuna-san, everyone! Please return to the surface and take on that test tomorrow!", Negi ordered.
"Don't worry about me, I can handle him!"
He then smiled at them before he turned towards the golem.
"Hey, Golem! Your opponent is right here!"
"Hohohoho! You've got guts, little boy!"
"Ras Tel Ma Skir Magister... Veniant Spiritus Aerialis Fulgurientes..."
The girls only watched in shock and wonder as wind and lightning seemed to gather around Negi, who held his staff in front of him and his free hand to the side.
"Cum Fulguriationi Flet Tempestas Austrina! JOVIS TEMPESTAS FULGURIENS!"
With that final shout, Negi pointed his hand towards the golem as a large, blue tornado shot from his hands and hits the golem, blasting it back and through the wall. The girl's eyes widen in shock as they saw Negi pant slightly before he fell to his knees and begun breathing heavily.
"Asuna-san, quickly press the up button!", he commanded.
Too shocked to do anything, she pressed the button and only blinked in surprise as he got into the elevator before the doors closed. They all just stared at him as he sat down, panting as the elevator slowly made its way upwards.
"Negi-sensei... what was that just now... and what are you...?", Yue asked, making all the girls look at him.
"Can you all keep a secret? Because if you can't, I will erase your memories, which could make you more stupid...", Negi replied, getting a audible gulp from most of the girls, who nodded.
"Well, it begins like this..."
And with that, Negi explained his circumstance to the six girls, which took a few hours. Soon after that, they all stared at him with awe, before noticing that he was leaning on Konoka's shoulder and fell asleep. Said girl smiled and moved his head onto her lap and gently stroked her hand through his messy red locks while looking at the others.
"I think we should keep Negi-kun's secret a secret from the others.", she said.
"Yeah, if word gets out, he might be taken away and experimented on...", Yue agreed.
"Not to mention, Negi-bouzu risked himself and saved us from that giant statue –de gozaru.", Kaede added.
The other girls nodded and slowly but surely, fell asleep while cuddling up with each other.
*CHANGE OF SCENE*
It was morning of exam day, with Asuna slowly waking up early. Noticing the time, she quickly woke the others up, who all groaned, save Kaede and Konoka, the latter and former used to this for different reasons.
"Guys wake up! Its Monday morning right now!", she said loudly, gaining everyone's attention.
Just as soon as she said, that the elevator chimed and showed the familiar scene of the level one part of the library.
"Alright everyone, lets quickly get to our dorms and get dressed and cleaned before we head to our exams!", Asuna ordered, with a loud response of "Yeah!", coming from the other girls.
With that, they all rushed across the bridge connecting Library Island and the main land.
*CHANGE OF SCENE*
In class 2-A, everyone was getting anxious and nervous since they didn't see the return of the missing students and teacher, especially Momo. She, along with Ayaka, couldn't take the stress anymore and stood up as soon as the bell begun ringing.
"The bell is already ringing! Where the heck are those six girls!?", Ayaka demanded.
"And where's Negi-sensei?", Momo added.
"They're not here yet! It's all over!", Fumika cried comically.
"Hey, you guys! The test is about to begin! Take your seats!", a young teacher said.
This teacher had light brown hair and blueish-brown eyes. He was average built for his young age and he was very popular amongst Mahora's students due to his kind nature. This man name is Seruhiko.
"Tsk... at this rate, those six are all going to get zero...", Ayaka mumbled to herself as she sat down. "The Baka Rangers are usually pretty dumb, but this is going to be devastating for our average... especially if Konoe-san is missing. If that happens, we really will be the lowest class and Negi-sensei is going to get fired..."
"All right guys! I'm counting on you all to get extra 15 points each!", she then declared to the class.
"As if that'll happen.", Kazumi chuckled sheepishly.
"Eh? I can't see those three from the Library Expedition Club either!", Yuuna suddenly stated.
This caused Ayaka to collapse on her table in despaie.
"We're all doomed...", she wailed in despair.
"Ah! Look!", Natsumi suddenly gasped out as she looked out her window. "The Baka Rangers are here! And the Library Expedition Club and Negi-sensei is with them!"
Ayaka, Sakurako and Momo joined her at the window and looked down at them with shock and surprise.
"Ah! We're late!", Asuna shouted as she sprinted in front of the group.
"And to top it all off, we're late because we had to clean ourselves, get dress and start doing late minute studying –aru!", Ku-fei added.
"I told you guys to let us know before the first period! Geeze!", Asuna whined.
"ASUNA! HURRY UP! IT'S STARTING!", Sakurako called from the class while waving down at them.
"Hey guys, i told you to hurry up and take a seat!", Seruhiko said sternly.
"You lot are late! You better have a good explanation otherwise I will not permit you to enter and take your exams!", a elderly stern man said with annoyance.
"We're sorry for being late, Nitta-sensei, but Yue hurt her leg!", Asuna explained while pointing to Yue, who was being carried piggy-back style by Kaede.
"Its true, Nitta-san, I was with them when she fell!", Negi added.
Seeing the proof and getting the confirmation by Negi, Nitta sighed and nodded his head.
"Latecomers have to take the exam in a separate room.", Nitta said.
"Y... Yes sir, we're sorry.", Asuna apologized as they all, save for Negi, followed Nitta.
Negi on the other hand, sighed in relief as he entered the main building and headed for the staff room.
*CHANGE OF SCENE*
A few minutes later, the exam had started and Negi watched the latecomers with concern, as he noticed that they were struggling to concentrate.
"Just as i thought... they must be tired from all that adventuring and studying over the last three days... it looks like they had it tough..." , Negi said with concern. "And Asuna-san and Yue-san got injured as well. I just hope this will work..."
He then took out a white flower and held his hand close to the petals.
"Ras Tel Ma Skir Magister... Fragara Lantia Floris... Meis Amicus Vicolum Vita Ritatem Auram Salte Rem... Refectio."
With his spell chanted, a gentle breeze with a sweet flew into the class, making everyone look up in wonder.
'Eh?'
'I smell something nice...'
'My head feels so clear!'
'I'm feeling enthusiastic –aru!'
'Mmm... what a wonderful fragrance –de gozaru~'
With that, Negi backed away with a smile and headed for the staff room to eagerly and anxiously wait for the results.
*CHANGE OF SCENE*
It had been a hour since the girls started writing and the bell rang to finish the exam period. Nitta then collected the girl's papers, who looked exhausted and weary. As he left, he saw Dean Konoemon limping towards him.
"Oh! Are those the answers for the late group?", he asked.
"Oh! Dean! How did you get injured?", Nitta asked back.
"Hoho... I fell down a flight of stairs...", Konoemon answered with a chuckle, "Anyway, I'd like to be the one who marks those eight girls."
After returning to his office, the Dean sat at his desk and started marking the papers, a sly gleam in his eyes.
"Hohohoho~~ I see, I see~", he smiled as he went through each girls' papers.
*CHANGE OF SCENE*
Throughout the whole school, everyone was getting anxious and nervous, especially class 2-A. Even Ichigo was slightly on edge since this was also a test for him due to him being a teacher. He walked over to Negi and clapped him on the shoulder.
"Are you ready to see your class results, Springfield?", he asked the younger teacher.
Negi could only nod, whilst the girls near him were shaking in anticipation.
"Uh~~~ I'm so nervous!", Makie said from Negi's right.
"Sheesh... this school gets so noisy over everything... they even have gambling pools...", Asuna said nervously from Negi's left whilst looking around, not knowing her comment made Ichigo raise a eyebrow at her.
"I got 10 S-B food voucher riding on this –aru!", Ku-fei stated confidently.
"Tetsuban again?", Yue questioned curiously, before adding "But thank Kami-sama "lowest class has to go through primary school again" was a rumour..."
Ichigo raised his eyebrows at this statement again.
"I'm feeling better about the result already –aru!"
"Hey, Ku-fei, Yue!", Asuna said loudly.
"Ah... that's right... Negi-bouzu getting fired...", Ku-fei said with worry while looking at Negi.
"It'll be OK, Negi-kun. Everyone did their best.", Konoka said, trying to cheer Negi up by stroking his head.
"Y... Yes! Thank you, Konoka-san.", Negi replied with a small smile.
Ichigo just chuckled at this.
"Just remember this, Springfield, no matter what the results, always keep your chin up. Don't forget, even I'm a little nervous about the results of my class...", Ichigo said while chuckling a little.
Suddenly, the school's TV came on. A dark brown haired girl was revealed holding a microphone eagerly greeted everyone with a smile.
"All right, everyone! The final test scores have just been released!", the girl said cheerfully. "The average score for all second year classes was 73.4!"
"73.4, huh? Not bad...", Ichigo commented.
"In the first palce... 2nd Year class F! A average score of 80.8!"
At this, the Baka Rangers comically fell onto the floor.
"I guess 2-A didn't make it to 1st place after all... and I had 50 food vouchers riding on it too...", Sakurako whined sadly.
"I told you it was impossible...", Madoka replied.
"In second place... 2nd Year class S with 79.8 points!"
"Arara...", Haruna complained as she joined the Baka Rangers on the ground.
"In third place... 2nd Year class D with 79.4 points!"
"Congratulations, Ichigo-san...", Negi said to Ichigo with a small smile.
"Thanks bouzu, don't worry, I'm sure your class is soon.", Ichigo replied while patting Negi's shoulder again.
Meanwhile, Ayaka was sitting with Kazumi, Chao, Chizuru and Kazumi, watching the news on the second years' results.
"In 10th place, 2-M!"
"W... We're up to tenth place already!?", Ayaka asked in disgust.
"Un... sorry –ne...", Chao replied.
"In 11th place, 2-C!"
"At least they turned up...", Kazumi said with a forced smile.
Back with Negi in the main room...
"H.. Hey! 2-A hasn't appeared at all!", Makie said with worry, her eyes moistening.
"C... Calm down, Maki-chan. There's three more classes to go.", Asuna said, though her confidence was slowly disappearing.
Ichigo was now feeling a little concern for Negi, glancing down at him before looking up at the screen.
"3rd last in 22nd place... Class 2-P! &0.8!"
"HII!"
"T... This is bad! If we're not next, then we're last for sure!"
Negi was looking at the screen with worry and a little hope,, which was only noticed by Ichigo, Asuna, Momo and Konoka.
"C'mon Springfield, you've got to be next..."
"Negi-kun..."
"Negi..."
"Negi-sensei..."
"And next, the second last class for the booby prize..."
"2-A!"
"2-A..."
"GO 2-A –aru!"
"In 23rd place, with an average of 69.5... Class 2-K!"
With that said, Class 2-A, Ichigo and Negi could only look at the screen with shock and worry. None of them noticed that Negi slipped out.

That loud shout could be heard by the whole school as 24 students cried out in horror. While everyone was wallowing in their despair, no one had realized that Negi slipped off.
*CHANGE OF SCENE*
After packing all of his luggage, Negi was walking down the steps of the main building in the golden light of a Japanese sunset. Looking into the sky, Negi took out a picture of his sister and smiled sadly at it.
'Nekane... I'm coming home now...', Negi thought as he walked towards the train station. He paused a little as a soft breeze was blowing his red locks while he turned to take a last look at the main building. With a long bow to the school, he turned around and continued walking away from Mahora Academy. 'It seems as if I failed in my training to become a great Magister Magi like my father... and six of my students found out my secret as a mage... I did my best and so did everyone else...'
As he arrived at the station, he bought a ticket to Shinjuku and walked through the gates, only to stop when he heard someone.
"Negi!"
Turning around, he saw Asuna who was looking at him with sadness and guilt.
"I'm so sorry! I really am!", Asuna apologised, "It was all because of us! Because we failed the final exam! Because I..."
"No... that's not true, Asuna-san. It's no one's fault.", Negi replied with a small smile. "I just wasn't up to the task of being a teacher this early in my life. I'd like to thank everyone from the class, especially you five. Even though it was for a very short time, I had fun."
"Just wait a minute! Are you just going to give up like that!? What about those things you told us about becoming a magi-whatever! What about trying to find your father!?"
"I don't want to give up! I don't want to, but... I have to accept my failure. I'm sorry, Asuna-san, but this is where we part ways. Goodbye, Asuna-san..."
And with that, Negi turned around and begun walking away. Asuna, who wasn't pleased with this, jumped over the gate and grabbed him from behind and hugged him, even though it was awkward due to his luggage and staff being in the way.
"Baka! I'm telling you not to go!"
"Asuna-san..."
"Negi-bouzu!"
"W... Wait, Negi-kun!"
"Negi-sensei!"
The two turned to see Makie, Ku-fei, Kaede, Konoka, Yue and Haruna running towards them. Unable to face them, Negi broke from Asuna's grasp and quickly ran away, only to trip and fall on his face when Makie's ribbon grabbed his leg.
"That's mean, Negi-kun! Just leaving without saying anything...", Makie complained.
"Negi-sensei, we should ask the Dean to give you another chance!", Haruna said.
"Yeah! This is too harsh for Negi-bouzu –aru!", Ku-fei agreed.
"Let me speak to Jii-chan, Negi-kun, I'm sure I can ask him to allow you to stay!", Konoka added
Seeing this, Nodoka tried to climb over the barrier, but only to fall backwards to be caught by Konoemon.
"Hohoho~ are you all right?", he asked Nodoka before looking at the group and jumping over the barrier. "Did someone call for me?"
Everyone turned to see him smiling at the group.
"I must apologize to you all, I was in charge marking the papers of the latecomers, but I was late to submit them myself...", he said while bowing slightly.
"Eh... EEEEEEEEEEH!?"
"T... Then... the marks for us haven't been entered yet?", Konoka asked.
"If that's the case, then maybe we still have a chance at not being the lowest class!", Haruna declared.
"Well then, I'll announce the grades now...", the Dean said. "First is Sasaki Makie. Your average score is 66."
"Eh?! No way! Alright!"
"Club enthusiasm is good, but so is a little more studying."
"Y... Yes Sensei..."
"Next is Ku-fei: 67! Nagase Kaede: 63! Keep up the hard work, now!"
"67! That's my personal best –aru!"
"I did it –de gozaru!"
"Ayase Yue: 63. A little better than normal, I see. But you could do better if you study more seriously though..."
'Damn...'
"Saotome Haruna: 81. Miyazaki Nodoka: 95! Good work, you have the highest marks of all the students!"
"Y... Yes... thank you Sensei..."
"Way to go, Honya!"
"Konoka: 91! A good score as always, my dear granddaughter!"
"Ehehehehehe~~"
"Last, but not least is Kagurazaka Asuna. 71!"
"Eh?"
"Well done, Asuna-chan!"
"Eh? The, so does that mean!?"
Back at the main room, where a screen was showing that the grade were being recalculated due to an oversight by the Dean, everyone was on edge.
"The recalculations are complete. After adding the scores of the eight students in 2-A, Class 2-A's average score is 80.4! As a result, 2-A's new ranking is... First place!"
There was a lot of cheering from the 2-A students in campus whilst Ichigo shook his head, noticing Momo and Sakurako hugging each other.
'Not bad, Spirngfield, not bad at all...'
"So then, does that mean that magic book helped!?", Negi looked in surprise at the announcements.
"Do you mean this book?", Konoemon said as he took the book out.
"It is impossible that this book would make you smarter. Everything that has happened so far is because of you own natural ability..."
'Eh? Wait, if the Dean has the book that I left in my room, then... could he...', Negi thought in shock, 'That twister game... the golem... everything that happened in Library Island... was the work of the Dean!?'
Realizing that Negi was looking at him, Konoemon smiled at Negi while chuckling a little.
"It wasn't because Asuna-chan and the other students who worked hard, Negi-kun.", Konoemon said, "You also got first place because the other students worked just as hard! The final test was to see if you could act like a teacher, even if it meant the end of you. You did well to avoid all those traps in Library Island. I'm not surprised to see you make it to the top class of the year, even though it was partially due to the other students too. Not to mention, I also had a glimpse of what "his" son could do. You passed my expectations, Negi-kun! You're a qualified teacher now, so I hope to see you do a even better job than before!"
"Yes sir!"
"Hahaha... good for you, Negi-sensei, I'll be looking forward to having you teach next term!", Asuna said as she ruffled his hair.
"Right!"
Negi smiled, but then blinked owlishly as he was lifted into the air and tossed by his students.
"Negi-sensei / Negi-kun / Negi-bouzu, good for you!~~"

Phew, that was a slightly long one, combining two chapters into one. Now, as we all know, Asuna, Yue, Kaede, Konoka and Ku-fei are now aware of Negi being a mage. Dean Konoemon Konoe is also aware of these girls knowing Negi's secrets, yet he doesn't say anything because he knows Nodoka and Haruna are within earshot. Just because of that, doesn't mean he will let Negi get away of it, as you will soon see in the next chapter. Also, with this, Ichigo and Negi are now fully qualified teachers at Mahora Academy.
