Ch. 14:
"Hermione!" Draco called as he ran out of the Great Hall. When he rounded the corner, he could see Hermione and Ron. Hermione was on the ground, and Ron was beating her. "Get away from her, you sick bastard!" Draco shouted.
Ron smirked. "Fuck you, Malfoy. You don't know anything about us."
"I know that I love her!" Draco exclaimed. "I also know that you are going to kill her if you don't leave her alone!" Hermione was struggling to catch her breath; bruises were forming on her tiny body. Draco glared at Ron. "How dare you hurt her like this!" Draco exclaimed. "If you really loved her, you wouldn't hurt her like this!"
"You hurt her, too, remember?" Ron laughed. "Remember when you broke up with her? That hurt her just as much. She's better off dead that with you, and don't worry, I will make sure that happens."
"Shut up!" Draco jumped at Ron, but Ron was too quick. He pounced, pinning Draco to the wall. Draco retaliated, shoving Ron to the ground. Soon the boys were both on the ground, their violent tempers getting the better of them. Damn Weasel, hurting MY girlfriend! Draco thought. How dare he steal Mione from me! is what Ron was thinking. When Draco paused to get a moment's breath, Ron stood, picked up Draco, and slammed him back to the ground. There was a sickening snap as Draco's arm broke.
Flames jumped from Ron's eyes. "Avada-"
"NO!" Hermione shouted. The sudden sound startled Ron, causing his spell to go off in another direction. There was a hiss as the killing curse his Mrs. Norris (A/n: poor kitty! hehehe)
"You bitch!" Ron yelled, lunging towards Hermione. Draco was quicker. He grabbed Hermione, and cast a shield charm around the two of them.
"Draco, I-" was all Hermione was able to say before everything around her went black.
"NO!" Draco wailed, tears flowing freely. He cradled Hermione's head in his hands. I need to get her to the hospital wing! he thought to himself. Double checking that the charm was still strong, Draco sped off with Hermione to the hospital wing.

"Madame Pompfrey!" Draco shouted. He placed his lover on a bed, removing the shield so the healer could get to her quickly.
"What's wrong, dear?" The madame came running. She gasped when she saw a blood-stained Hermione. "What in Merlin's name happened to her!"
"She-she..." Draco attempted to say, but his voice failed him. A sob caught in his throat as his choked out, "Will she be okay?"
Madame Pompfrey looked at Draco, her face drawn. "Mr. Malfoy... she's lost a lot of blood. I'm sorry, but I just don't know."
Draco fell to his knees. "Please, Hermione, wake up!" he begged. "I promised I wouldn't let you die! I promised! Hermione, I can't go on without you."
"I'll give you some time alone with her," Madame Pompfrey said, looking at Draco before leaving the room. She felt terrible: she had wanted to save Miss Granger, she really had. Only time would tell whether or not the girl would ever wake up.
Draco stumbled over to Hermione's bed, fresh tears falling. "Hermione, I can't loose you. I love you! Do you hear me? I love you! I can't live without you in my life," he sobbed. "I'm not going to let you die. I promised. I promised..." he mumbled as he drifted to sleep, holding her hand and praying she would wake up.

Draco woke up the next morning in the Hospital Wing, still holding Hermione's hand. "Mr. Malfoy?" He looked up. Madame Pompfrey was standing on the other side of Hermione's bed. "Mr. Malfoy, you need to go to your classes. I'll alert you if there is any change in her condition." Draco nodded before walking to his potions class.
When he got there, he sat down at his desk, not talking to anyone. No one knew what happened to her, nor did he want anyone to find out. He was terrified of someone going in to see her; he didn't want anything else to happen to her. He couldn't trust anyone besides himself with Hermione: he had trusted the Weasley boy, and he ended up being the one who put her in this state! Merlin, I don't want to loose her... Draco thought. What if she dies? No, that can't happen. A promise is a promise. I don't know how, but somehow I will keep her alive! Before Draco knew it, class was over.
"Mr. Malfoy, I would like you to stay after class for a moment, please," Professor Snape called over the noise of exiting students. Once everyone was gone, Draco walked to the front of the classroom. "Draco, is there anything wrong?" he asked his godson, concerned.
Draco broke down again. "Everything," he sobbed, "Hermione was attacked... she's not waking up... I can't loose her... I love her too much for that... the chance of her ever waking up isn't very high..."
Snape was amazed. He had no idea how much Draco cared for Hermione. True, he knew Draco had a crush on her, but love? "Draco, when did this happen?"
"Last night," Draco mumbled.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Snape questioned.
"Not really, its to painful to talk about," Draco answered. "Professor, I love her so much. What am I going to do? I couldn't bear it if she died."
Snape thought about this for a moment. "I'm afraid, Draco, that all we can do is wait."
This wasn't what Draco wanted to hear, as he broke down again. He had cried more times since the school started than he had ever cried in his life.

Two months had passed since the ball, and Hermione still hadn't awoken yet. Draco was beginning to loose hope. It was like his entire life had lost its meaning: Quidich didn't even cheer him up anymore. He was sitting by the lake with with Harry, Blaise, and Ginny, and the couple had news.
"What's going on?" Harry asked. "And why isn't Ron here to hear the news also?"
Blaise and Ginny looked at each other. "Well..." Blaise started.
"We're worried about how Ron will react when he hears the news," Ginny continued.
"So, what's the news?" Draco asked, fake enthusiasm in his voice. He was trying really hard to be happy for his friends, whatever the news was.
"We're pregnant!" Ginny exclaimed. Blaise smiled, and put his hand on his fiancé's stomach.
Harry smiled for the happy couple. "Congrats, you guys! Are you going to tell Ron?"
Ginny's face fell. "I guess we have to, don't we? I mean, being pregnant isn't exactly something I can hide for more than a few months..."
Little did they know, Ron was just a few feet away from them, behind a tree. He heard everything that was said about Ginny and Blaise. "Bliase is going to regret ever asking out my sister..." Ron mumbled. He sat down, and began to plot out his plan for revenge.

"Welcome back, Mr. Malfoy," Madame Pompfrey said without looking up. She knew that it was Draco. Every day at 7:00 PM, Draco came in to sit with Hermione.
Draco sat down next to Hermione's bed. "Hey, Mione," he said, kissing her lightly and brushing her hair away. "Good news! Ginny and Blaise are going to have a baby!" He put his head down for a minute before continuing. "Hermione, I hope this doesn't sound to selfish, but when you come out of this, I want you to be the one that I announce I'm having children with. Gods, Mione, its so hard not to have you with me! All I can think about is how I might loose you. Hermione, I don't know if you can hear me or not, but... I just wanted to tell you everything that's going through my head."
He heard his name being called. A surge of panic went through him as he heard Ginny Weasley's shrieks.

In a corridor:
Blaise was walking back to his common room. He and Ginny had just told Ginny's dorm-mates the other six year girls about the pregnancy. Ginny was tired, so she stayed back in her room. Blaise stopped in his tracks: he heard footsteps following him. He turned.
"Oh, hey Ron, it's just you," he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hey, Blaise." Ron smiled wickedly. He drew his wand.
"Um... what are you doing?" Blaise was getting worried.
"This is for getting by baby sister pregnant!" Ron shouted. "AVADA KEDAVA!"
"NO!" Blaise screamed. Ginny had the feeling something was wrong. She came running out of her dorm in time to see her brother killing her one true love.
"DRACO!" she shouted. "ANYONE!"
She ran over to Blaise as Ron fled. "No, Blaise, no! You can't leave me, we're having a baby!" She put her head on Blaise's chest. "Blaise, come back! Come back to me, please!" She was sobbing uncontrollable, her shoulders heaving. Draco came running. He gasped at the what he saw. He couldn't believe it, Blaise was dead?
"Shh, Ginny, it's okay," he said, holding Ginny close to him. "It'll all be okay."
"How can you say that?" Ginny sobbed. "Blaise is dead! I'm pregnant! Hermione is close to dying! How can you say that everything will be okay?"
Draco looked at the ground. "Gods, Gin, I'm so sorry. Who did this?"
"R-Ron..." she mumbled.
"Gin, I know this will be hard for you to do, but we have to tell Dumbledore..." Draco whispered.
Ginny nodded. The pair went up to Dumbledore.

Two hours later, Draco was back in the Hospital Wing. He had his head in his hands. She's not going to make it, he thought to himself. I might as well give up. In the bed, something stirred. Draco sat up.
"D-Draco?" Hermione whispered.
Tears of joy sprung to Draco's eyes. "I'm here, baby, I'm here."
"Draco, what happened?" Hermione asked, her voice barely audible.
"That Weasel hurt you. You've been in a coma for the last two months," Draco said, his forehead against Hermione's. He pulled her close. "Hermione, I am never letting go of you," he whispered.
"So, what happened in the last two months? Anything exciting?" Hermione laughed.
"Well, Ginny's pregnant."
"Ginny's pregnant! Wow... are she and Blaise excited?" Hermione asked.
"Hermione... Blaise is dead. Ron killed him earlier tonight, after he found out the Gin is pregnant. Ron was taken to Azkaban," Draco answered quietly, looking down.
Hermione held her breath. "Oh, poor Ginny..."
"Yea. Hey, Mione?" Hermione looked up. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure," Hermione asked. She hoped she knew what the question was.
"Will you marry me?"
A/n: okay, so how was that chapter? I know it was sad... sorry! Next chapter will be the last one! r&r please!
