IN TIMES OF WAR

I own othing having to do with the Power Rangers. All I do own is the soldiers that I have included in the story.

Chapter 14

Later on that night everyone was back in Kim's room waiting for her to wake back up. Rocky was joking around telling everyone that now that all Kim is doing is sleeping that they needed to make sure she doesn't turn into Sleeping Beauty. Everyone of course laughed and all couldn't wait for Kim to wake back up. Tommy seemed to be walking on the clouds and he just knew it was because Kim had said that she loved him. To him that made all the difference in the world and that everything was just going to fall into place for them. He couldn't wait to start the life he wanted to have with her. He wanted it all dating, marriage, kids, and growing old together. He wanted to have her by his side everyday for the rest of his life.

Mark was worried about if this was to much to soon for Kim. She is in the hospital for inuries that she got during war time only to come back to the states and be faced with all her former friends. Plus as much as he wanted Kim to have the happy ending that he has with Emma he wasn't sure what Tommy's plans were. He hoped that Tommy wouldn't suggest her discharge from the Army. There is no way in the world Kim would even consider it at this point in her life. She has found the purpose she so desperately needed after her parents died and she wouldn't give that up anytime soon for anyone. Taking the Army away from Kim at this point would be like taking away Kim's arm.

Emma thought things were going very well. She off and on daydreamed today about what Kim and Tommy's wedding might be like if they could get back on track with each other. She knew that with all of these years apart that they would have new challenges to face with each other if they were going to make it. Not everyone was cut out to be a military spouce. She herself had spent many sleepless nights worrying over Mark and if he was okay wherever the mission sent him next. She also knew that no matter how much she might worry she would never ask him to leave the military if he himself didn't want to.

Aisha and Kat were sitting next to each other discussing memories they had with Kim while Billy, Jason, Adam, and Zack all stood by and listened.

As Kim started to stir again a short while later she found herself waking to having everyone in the room again. Trini started talking with Kim as soon as she woke up. She was explaining that for the next few days she was going to have to take it easy but shortly after that she was going to need to start physical therapy. Nodding Kim looked at Mark and said "what does this mean for us? Are we being transfered up here during this?" Mark nodded and said "yea. I already gave our orders to the base out here and I will need to go and report a few days a week but once you recover we will have to head back to Iraq."

"Okay, good" Kim said

"Good?" asked Jason "Is it wise to send her back as soon as she is well"

"We have to go back" replied Kim "The mission isn't over yet."

"As much as you guys may hate that she will have to leave shortly after she is well you should keep in mind that at the moment she isn't and that she is here" suggested Mark. "Besides we are soldiers and nothing keeps us down for very long."

"Hey guys can you give us a few minutes?" asked Tommy

Even though they understood they hated having to leave while Kim was awake. As soon as they left Tommy sat down next to Kim and said "you know I love you right?" after he saw Kim nod her head he continued with "I really want to talk with you at some point about the military but for now" he said as he saw Kim open her mouth to say something "how about once you get discharged and during your physical therapy why don't you stay with me?" Kim wanted to, she desperately did but wasn't sure if it was the right time for that for them. "Please Kim" Tommy begged "I want you to be with me and I will help take care of you. Emma and Mark could come too if that would be better for you but please come and let me take care of you." Kim nodded her head and said "I will stay with you but if you want Emma and Mark there you should ask them. After all you are probably going to have to build some sort of friendship with them if we are at some point going to give this a go." She didn't want to seem mean with the maybe and if's but they had a lot to learn about each other again. Plus, yes, they did know what it was like to save the world but he didn't know what it was like to be a soldier and she would have to leave him at home when the mission called for it. She needed to make sure that he was up for that. She needed to see that because until them all of it was just words.

-A week later-

It was a Friday and Kim was being discharged from the hospital. She was going to stay with Tommy for now and on Monday she was to start physical therapy for her arms and back. Only Tommy, Mark, and Emma were there to take them back to Tommy's place and the others were there making supper and fixing up the two spare guest rooms. Tommy had extended the invite to Mark and Emma about staying at his house with him and Kim. They agreed as they didn't want to be seperated quite yet. Everyone could see just how close they were to Kim and how much their friendship mattered to one another.

Later that night after supper Mark and Kim gathered around the TV in the living room talking to each other. The gang was sitting there watching them. Tommy came in and asked Emma "whats going on?" pointing to Mark and Kim.

"They found your movie collection and are trying to decide if they wanna watch We Were Soldiers or Saving Private Ryan" she answered. Tommy was going to offer his suggestion to the two before Emma put a hand on his arm saying "don't bother offering your suggestion they watch these movies to plan, talk, and see what they would do in those situations."

"No way" replied Jason "really?"

"I know it may seem silly but they say it keeps their minds sharp." Emma replied. She slightly shivered when she added "It scares me sometimes becasue for them to do that they must see this kind of thing often over there."

"Why do they do this then. Doesn't it scare them at all?" asked Tommy

"You know I am not sure it does. I guess it makes them uniquely qualified since they know the risks and the mission and they won't risk anything for the mission. It is what gives us our freedoms and the people in other countries safe. It gives those people hope that someone is fighting for them and trying to give them the same rights that we all have. Kind of makes you proud of them doesn't it?"

Tommy nodded but wondered if he could look it at the same way Emma does. For his sake he hopes he can since if he doesn't it just might cost him Kim in the end.

I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter and please review as I always love reading them. I know I am filling this story with more than just Kim and Tommy but all this other information will be useful for some later chapters. I truly thank everyone for the reading and the support.
