A/N:

Hello my lovelies! I have another chapter ready to read. I had some crazy responses to the Tyler breakup. Evidently you guys loved it! And so did I. I thought I should do something different in this chapter, so I got the ideas to write from Caroline's POV. And I LOVED it. So, from now on that's what I'll do. It makes the story so much more realistic and easier to read. So happy reading and I hope you enjoy!

Cheers,

Elle

"What is this place?" Caroline asked, her eyes scanning the beautiful surroundings. Klaus smiled at her amazement of the beauty of the manor. This is one of the reasons he fell in love with her, because of her amazement of beauty.

"It's called L'Orchid Grove Manor. It's over hundred years old. Kelso's family has owned it since the 1800s, but he prefers to live on the vineyard. So he rents it out for parties. It's quite beautiful." Klaus said, motioning to the house. Caroline nodded at Klaus's history speech, not really paying attention.

She was more paying attention to the gowns that women were wearing. So many rich and luxurious fabrics, in all different colors shapes and sizes. The men dressed in tuxes, everything was so formal and new to her. From having planned the senior prom, Caroline thought she knew formal. I mean she planned the whole thing. She was the one that just had to be so just be perfect for prom that she went to Klaus to get another dress after Elena had stolen hers. The one he had given her was much prettier anyway.

Klaus offered Caroline his arm, and she slipped hers into the crook of his elbow. Raising the skirt of her gown, Caroline preceded with Klaus up the manors front stairs. Pulling open the entrance, they entered the party.

Caroline's POV

I was amazed by the atmosphere that surrounded me. So many different kinds of drinks were being passed around, and I swiped a flute of champagne off a passing waiters tray. Klaus noticed what I had done, and he did the same. Raising his glass he spoke a toast; I did as he and lifted my flute.

"To the hope that tonight will be spectacular and to the hope that you will tell me why you are suddenly so happy." Klaus said, looking at me accusingly. His eyes were so bright, a brilliant shade of blue. But before I could tell him about the breakup, a man with piercing green eyes approached us.

"Niklaus! I have been looking for you. The valet said you had arrived. I am so glad you could attend the masquerade. Doesn't look fantastic?" The man asked, his Italian accent deep with age. I looked at him trying to figure out who he was, but I could tell Klaus automatically recognized him. So I just followed his lead.

"Kelso. Nice of you to invite me. This is Caroline, my escort." Klaus said, motioning to me. I didn't really know what to do in such a situation, so I just nodded my head.

"Niklaus, she's even prettier than you described. It is so nice to meet you Caroline. Enjoying the ball?" Kelso asked me, his smile contagious. I nodded briskly, looking to Klaus for some help on moving the conversation along. He's nodded for me to continue talking, so I did.

"Thank you. And yes I am. Everything is wonderful. Thank you so much for inviting us. The place is gorgeous and the décor is amazing. You did a wonderful job." I said, giving him my signature Caroline Forbes Smile. He gave me a small laugh, but went back to talking to Klaus.

"I hate to run, but my dear wife Adeline is going to fret if she doesn't have me at her side at every moment. Enjoy the rest of your evening, Niklaus. It was nice to meet you Caroline. I hope you will enjoy the rest of your time in Rome." And with the last word, he turned on his heel. Klaus shook his head in amusement and I gave him a strange look, but laughed along with him.

"Would you allow me to ask you for a dance?" Klaus asked me, holding out his unoccupied hand. I put mine into his, whispering 'yes'. He took his champagne flue out of his hand, and placed it on a passing waiter's tray. He then did the same to mine, and then led me out on the dance floor.

Soon a Venetian waltz began to play, and Klaus wrapped his arms warmly around me. He placed his hand on my waist, and I place mine lightly on his shoulder. We fell into step with the flowing music, and we began to dance. Klaus was swift as he twirled me around. He obviously had many years of experience. I guessed it was all those lavish parties that he had attended under the name Lord Niklaus Mikaelson. Klaus asked me a question, breaking the silence between us.

"Sweetheart, now that we are alone, will you please tell me why you are smiling when you are with me? Normally when you have a conversation with me, it ends with you having a very unbeautiful smirk on your face." Klaus asked, giving me his lecture face. I blushed and tried not laugh at how ridiculous he looked with that expression on his darling face.

"I found your letter you had written, the one that had been tucked inside my gown for tonight, and I read it. Every last word down to your fancy signature." I said, looking him hard in the eyes, no expression on my face. I saw many emotions flash in his eyes. Worry, happiness, and a bit of regret.

"Caroline, I didn't mean to impose on anything. I know that you are in love with Tyler, and I know that you have no interest in me whatsoever….." Klaus said, but then I cut him off.

"I chose you. I called Tyler the minute I read the letter. I broke up with him. He hung up on me, but it's done. I know you still have the Haley issue, and I know that so many people are going to hate us for being together, but I don't care. You are the one that is always going to come back for me. Always and forever, Niklaus Mikaelson, I will choose you." I finished, and I saw a tear of happiness roll down Klaus's cheek. I wiped it away with my finger, he smiled.

But he didn't say a word. Instead he pulled me to him, and his lips were on mine. The kiss tasted of sweet honey, and of warm tears. Every second of it I savored. This is the man that loved me. And he would never let me go, no matter what circumstances came upon us. Klaus would keep me safe. I would do the same for him.

Silently we broke the kiss, smiling at each other. I saw the happiness in his eyes, and I knew he could see it in mine. Carefully he drew my back and twirled me, and we continued to dance. We danced a few songs more without speaking to each other, and when the last one of the night played, we danced to it too. Klaus never let me out of his arms, and I never wanted him too. This was true happiness, something I hadn't felt in a really long time. But now I did.
