Chapter 14

Down at milltown carly had been doing some shopping,hoping to keep her mind off her problems,when she ran into her son;"Hi,honey."

"Hi,mom."said he;"What are you doing here?"

"Just doing some shopping."answered his mother;"Sage went to play at a friend's house,so she won't be home untill dinnertime."

"Are you okay?"asked parker with a worried look as he examined his mother carefully;"Did something happen,mom?"

"No,ofcourse not."replied she lying and put on a fake smile to convince parker because the last thing that she wanted was to tell him about everything that had happened that day;"I'm fine."

"Are you sure?"said her son not convinced;"If janet has been a problem again i can talk to her for you and make her back off."

"That's sweet of you."smiled carly as she gave him a hug,beeing thankfull and proud for the sweet,protective man he had become and in some ways he not only had hal's good trades,but he also had some of jack's, and gently kissed him on his cheeck;"There's no need for you to worry and everything's fine,parker."

"Okay."answered he with a smile;"I will be home in time for dinner,mom,i promise."

"Thanks,parker,see you later."replied his mother and watched him leave.

Out at the farm janet was in a good mood and thought that her marriage was safe now that nobody was gonna tell jack the truth,so hoping to bring her husband in a good mood as well she had began to make a nice dinner for them fort hat evening.

To her surprise jack walked in;"Hi,janet."

"Hi,jack."replied she;"You're home early."

"I took a few hours off."began her husband hesitating;"We need to talk,janet,there's something that i need to tell you."

"What do you need to tell me?"asked she worried and at first she thought that maybe carly or molly had told jack the truth although molly had told her that they would't,but then she realized that if they had that jack would be furious and instead he stood there infront of her nervous;"What's wrong?"

"Let's sit down."said jack while he gently lead janet to a chair and sat down himself across from her after she had sat down;"There's no easy way to tell you this,so i'm just gonna tell you straight out,janet,i want a divorce."

"You want what?"responded his wife shocked;"Why,jack,what did i do?"

"It's got nothing to do with you and it's not your fault."answered he softly;"I'm in love with somebody else and it wouldn't be fair to stay married to you,so i want a divorce."

"You want to go back to that lush,don't you?"asked janet angry while she jumped up;"She put you up to this,didn't she?"

"Carly didn't do anything and stop calling her that damn it!"scolded her husband as he got up too;"If you want to get angry at anybody then get angry at me,janet,i'm the one who wants to leave you because i am still in love with carly."

"Go to hell,jack snyder,i'm never gonna give you a divorce so that you can go back to her!"screamed she furious and stormed out of the house.

"Damn it!"said jack frustrated;"That went well."

"What's up with janet?"asked holden and came in with molly not long after janet stormed out;"Jack?"

"I told her that i wanted a divorce and that i'm in love with carly."replied he with a sigh;"She didn't exactly take it well."

"I'm glad you finally told janet."smiled molly happy;"Carly will be thrilled to hear that."

"Oh,my god,carly!"said her friend with a worried look;"What if janet decides to go over there and take her anger out of carly?"

In a hurry jack grabbed his coat and rushed out of the house;"I have to warn her!"

"So he finally told janet."began holden slowly as he looked up at molly;"And you didn't even have to tell him about what you walked in on."

"I'm glad i didn't have to because now carly will know for sure that he left janet because he wants to be with her and not because he's mad at janet for cheating on him,holden."replied his girlfriend;"I just hope that janet doesn't take her anger out on carly."

"She won't."answered he,pulling molly into his arms;"And even if she does jack will be there to protect carly."
