A bit longer than I expected. All well.
Enjoy!
The Turnabout of Good or Evil:
Chapter 13:
Into the shop
Apollo and Juniper arrive back at the crime scene, to see, for some reason, Lucy with Taka on his arm, with protective gear on.
Apollo slowly stopped, blinking and pointing at Taka.
"What's Taka doing here?"
Lucy grinned, and stroked Taka.
"Taka followed Simon here because he smelt of Hawk food.
Simon was here earlier, investigating in the shop, before the trail, and Taka obviously wanted some food."
Lucy stroked Taka again, who seemed to like the attention.
Juniper went to carefully stroke Taka, who doesn't mind the extra attention.
"Is everybody obsessed with birds these days...?" thought Apollo, disheartening.
A couple of footsteps are heard by Apollo, and he turns to see Phoenix and Trucy arrive.
When Trucy saw Apollo, she puffed her cheeks in anger.
Juniper stopped stroking Taka, and looked over.
So did Lucy.
Both of them looked confused.
"Uh-oh..." thought Apollo.
Phoenix looked disheartened as well.
"APOLLO!" screamed Trucy, causing Taka to go in a panic.
Lucy tried her best to calm the bird down.
Trucy walked over and smack Apollo in the face.
"Ow..." went Apollo, weakly.
"HOW DARE YOU DO THAT?!" Trucy yelled, furiously.
"HOW. DARE. YOU. MAKE .ME .CRY!"
Trucy slapped Apollo again, at each word.
Apollo's face became bright red, around the area being slapped, and he looked annoyed.
"Trucy..."
"Apollo!" exclaimed Juniper, concerned for Apollo.
Lucy raised an eyebrow.
Phoenix came over.
"Trucy, dear, calm down.
You know Apollo has to do question everything in Court."
"Daddy, I don't care!" said Trucy, angry.
"He desrves to pay!"
Trucy went to slap Apollo again, but Lucy intervened.
"Hey!" she yelled, causing everyone's attention to draw to her.
Lucy pointed at Trucy.
"Slap Mr Justice again, young lady, and I'll have you arrested for assault!"
"Eek!" screeched Trucy, shocked.
Apollo sighed.
"Trucy..."
"..."
"I'm sorry for making you cry eariler. I didn't mean to."
"..."
"I'm REALLY REALLY sorry!" "Geez, I sound like Filch now!"
Trucy's frown slowly turned into a smile.
She sniffed.
"You're forgiven, Apollo."
Apollo smiled, along with Juniper.
"That's good to know."
Phoenix went wistfully.
"Hey, maybe you should talk about what happened that night."
Trucy looked at her adopted father, and stared at him.
She slowly nodded.
"If it's fine with Apollo."
Apollo nodded.
"I just want to ask about the feather, but maybe I can ask something else first..."
Suddenly, Juniper interrupted, causing Apollo to jump.
"Um..." she started.
"After the murderer had left, what happened when you left the bush?"
Trucy went to think.
"I got out of the bush, and looked at the body. I was quite shocked to see the body, so I stayed away from it.
It was quite dark, so I didn't see much.
However, as I rang the police, I heard some glass smash."
Apollo is taken aback.
"Glass smash?"
Trucy looked over to the door, and saw the one of the windows is smashed.
"Look, there!"
Everyone turned their attention to the window.
"Well, I be." stated Phoenix, looking at the window.
"I wonder how that could of happened?"
"At the time..." continued Trucy, everyone looking back at her.
"I though it was a glass bottle getting smashed, but since my head is a bit fuzzy from the murder, I forgot something."
Juniper looked confused.
"What is it?"
"Someone broke through that window."
"WHAT?!" shouted Apollo, shocked.
"From what I could barely see through the darkness, the person was cleaning up the glass.
I yelled at them, and they ran away."
Trucy looked upset.
"Sorry for not saying anything..."
Lucy, who was listening into the conversation with Taka, became surprised.
"That explains it!" she went.
"How?" asked Apollo.
"When the police arrived at the crime scene, they noticed some glass on the floor, with a sweeper.
They thought it was odd, since there was a big hole enough for a man to fit through, but little glass."
"I see..." went Apollo.
Glass and Broom added to the Court Record.
"There is one other thing I would like to know." stated Apollo.
"Was there anything else at the crime scene that seemed odd?"
Trucy frowned, and pulled out a black feather, which seems scuffled and old.
"I found this." shrugged Trucy.
"I thought this was odd, as I don't remember seeing a bird at the scene."
Apollo nodded, and took the feather.
Black Feather added to the Court Record
"Thank you, Trucy." thanked Apollo, sincerely.
"That's all I got to know."
Trucy smiled, along with Phoenix.
"That's good to know."
Apollo turned to Lucy.
"Are we aloud to go into the shop?"
Lucy nodded.
"Good." grinned Apollo.
"Juniper, let's go in."
Apollo and Juniper walk into the shop.
A sense of dread filled Apollo, like something unerasable was here.
The shop is quite large in itself.
When you walk in, there are about four shelves filled to the brim with pet toys and treats, in front of you.
There is a disabled chair access path going up to the right, with bird cages in front of it.
The shelves are behind that access path.
The path leads into an aquarium area, where fishes are swimming in the tank.
There seems to be some fish food on a shelf just before the entrance to the aquarium.
Behind the shelves is the area for the reptiles. You can see small lizards and snakes there, along with insects for food, on another shelf.
The snakes are too small to eat big rodents, like Gerbils.
There seems to be a door next to the tanks, which says 'Private Area, Employees only!'
To the left of the entrance is the service desk.
It covers the wall, with a entrance to get in. It's coloured a dark green. A cash register is sitting alone on the desk.
There is shelves under the desk, and there seems to be nothing there at first glance.
In front of that desk, is a multi due of keeping areas.
Open-top cages are put in a circle, with plenty of room about for the occupants.
The cages either contain large rats, rabbits or guinea pigs.
The cages are stuck to a pillar, and they have plenty of bedding and food about.
Nearby, is a shelf with with smaller cages, where gerbils and hamsters are living in.
Like the previous set, plenty of bedding for the animals.
Apollo frowned as he looked round.
"I'm getting a sense of dread here..." he murmured.
Juniper walked in and looked round.
"It doesn't look like Detective Gumshoe and Mr Blackquill aren't here."
She looked at Apollo.
"I wonder where they gone."
Apollo nodded, then scanned the room.
"I believe we should investigate the room, to see if anything is about."
Juniper nodded, and the two began to look around.
Apollo checked the shelves with the food and toys are.
There seems to be nothing of interest there.
"Huh..."
He look to the reptile area to see if there is anything interesting.
Meanwhile, Juniper took the the Aquarium Area.
The area there was quite small, but had lots of beautiful fish.
She had a look round, but nothing was there.
She turned back round, and decided to look at the service desk, behind it.
Juniper opened the gate, and looked behind the counter.
As described earlier, the shelves were bare, although dusty.
Juniper noticed that a certain patch has less dust than the rest, on the bottom shelf, towards the door.
She keeled down to have a look at it.
As she did, she saw that it looked like an elbow patch, like someone had put their elbow there.
Juniper concluded that something may be there, and someone stuck their elbow there.
She felt the ceiling of the bottom shelf, and felt something papery.
Juniper looked under and saw a letter stuck to the roof with tape.
She ripped the letter off, and called Apollo over.
"Hey, Apollo!"
"Yeah?"
"I found something."
Apollo rushed over to the other side of the service counter, and Juniper gave to letter to him.
"I found this. Don't know why it's here."
"Hmm..." he went.
The letter says, in neat writing: 'To who ever may find this'
Apollo went to open the letter, careful.
He took out the letter, and spoke quietly, but loud enough for Juniper to hear.
'Dear to who ever will find this letter, preferably, if the outcome comes to that, Dog Conner's Lawyers.'
Apollo's eyes widened.
"...What?" he murmured.
"I wonder who this is?" asked Juniper.
"I'll continue."
'Hello, my name is Maxie Money-Made. If you are reading this, there are four reasons why.'
"IT'S BY MAXIE?!"
"Apollo, please continue!"
'One, you're Dog Conners, and you found this by accident. If so, please ignore.
The second, if your Dog's Lawyers. This means the worst outcome has been done, and I am dead, murdered possibly.
If so, please skip the next two.
If the third, you're the detective or prosecutor against Dog. If you are reading this, the outcome will be that all the evidence you need will prove Dog innocent. Please skip the next one.
If the fourth, you're my murderer, or the accomplice.
If you found this, I hope you're happy with what you have done.'
Apollo is taken a-back.
"Maxie knew he was going to get murdered?"
"Is that different, Apollo?"
"It sure is."
'Regardless if your two or three, this has come to it I have been murdered, and my friend, Dog Conners, has been arrested on suspicion of my murder.
I didn't tell Dog anything that happened, because out of what happened three years ago, he's the one that hurt the most.
Anyway, a threatening letter was sent a couple of months ago to Dog, and I knew that it may have something to do with the L.A People's Christian Church.
I won't go on much further, as if you are the murderer, I won't give the information you need.
Let's say, I hid the information you need somewhere in the shop.
Good luck with that.
If you are anyone else, sorry about that. Can't be too careful.
Yours Sincerely, unless your my murderer,
Maxie Money-Made.
P.S: Trevor, Helen, Back of Key'
Apollo is taken a-back by the last statement.
"Eh?" he went.
Juniper became worried.
"Dog said that Maxie was doing some research on the Church Members, and I guess from what he found out, the murderer might of killed him because of that...?"
Apollo nodded.
"I wondered what Maxie found out about the murderer?"
Maxie's Letter added to the Court Record.
Apollo glanced over the letter.
"That last bit..." he went.
"I wonder what it means?"
Juniper came back round from the counter, to look at the letter.
"Hmm..."
"HEY, PAL!"
"Eek!" eeked Juniper, falling down in surprise.
Apollo looked up and saw that Detective Gumshoe is there.
Gumshoe helped Juniper back up.
"Sorry about that, Pal." he stated.
"Just wanted to get your attention."
"You didn't have to yell..."
Juniper coughed.
"You just surprised me, that's all..."
Gumshoe itched the back of his head.
"Ahh..."
"Detective Gum-on-my-shoe." called a voice.
Everyone turned to see Simon Blackquill standing there.
He is frowning.
"You have to be careful with Justice-Dono's assistants." he stated.
"Or he'll blow your eardrums out with that loud voice of his."
"Gak!" went Gumshoe, surprised.
"Sorry about that, Prosecutor Blackquill!"
Simon came over to Apollo.
"I had the pleasure of having one of my officers come to me asking about you asking to have access to the shop."
Apollo nodded.
"I did. I think there might be some importance in the shop somewhere."
"And I was right! Thank you, Juniper!"
Simon went to think.
"Hmm..."
He pointed towards the door that said 'Private Area, Employees only!'
"We managed to get pass that door, and it leads to the defendant's bedroom.
The thing is, it's got a complicated lock system, and only one key is able to open it.
Me and the Detective tried to open it, but with no success.
We're going to the police station to see if the defendant has the key."
Simon shrugged.
"You can try and open it if you want, but it's not going to open."
"I tried slamming my body against it, pal!" remarked Gumshoe.
"I slammed and I slammed against it, but I couldn't open it. The dog went hair-wire!"
"Wait, what dog?" asked Apollo.
Simon smirked.
"The defendant's, of course. That canine of his sure barks of a multitude."
"So, Helen is locked in Dog's bedroom?" asked Juniper.
"It seems so..." murmured Apollo.
He turned to Simon.
"Thank you Prosecutor Blackquill."
"...Hmph!"
Apollo is taken-aback.
"What was that all about?"
"Our last battle..." went Simon.
"...was interrupted. That explosion drew out battle to a hindrance."
Simon smiled dangerously.
"This battle, however, will not be interrupted. I intend to see it to the end."
Apollo nodded.
"He must be talking about the Court Room Explosion. I guess due to events that happened and transpired, he was quite annoyed by that."
Apollo went to shake Simon's hand, then he and Juniper walked over to the Employees Area.
The door to Dog's room is a plain, grey door, with a big yellow sign that said:
'Dog's Room, Keep Out!'
The door is in the middle of a grey hallway, with the grey being sort of ugly.
There is a door leading to the kitchen, which is open, but there isn't an entrance there.
At the end of the corridor, there is a exit to the outside world.
Apollo and Juniper are in front of the door way.
Apollo tried to open it, but had not success.
"Damn it..." he went, frowning.
He slammed the door multiply times, but it could not open.
A dog's bark is heard from inside.
Apollo looked at the door.
"Dog must be paranoid about invaders in his shop." he murmured.
"We can't even get into his bedroom."
He shook his head.
"There must be another key somewhere..."
He look into his evidence case, to see if there is any thing he might of picked up.
Juniper had a brain-wave.
She reached into one of her pockets, and took out the key she found earlier.
Putting the key into the lock, she turned it and it clicked.
Apollo looked up, surprised.
"Where did you get that?" he asked, looking at the key.
"I found it at L.A Taxi's." affirmed Juniper.
"It was near Raz's taxi. I picked it up when you were talking to him."
Juniper went to think.
Apollo poked his forehead.
"I wonder why the key to Dog's room was there...
Dog doesn't seem the sort of going to the Taxi's warehouse."
Juniper gained a look of surprise.
"I was thinking why it was there..." she started, quietly.
"But then I remembered I saw something fall from Raz's pocket. This must have been it."
"Why would the key to Dog's bedroom be in possession of Raz Videl?"
Apollo shook his head.
"It makes no sense, but it might prove that Raz was here on the night of the murder."
D.C Bedroom Key Updated
Apollo looked at the door, and pushed it open.
Inside Dog's Bedroom is a neatly tidy room.
The room's walls are coloured sky blue, with one of the walls having a shelf.
The shelf itself is colour burgundy.
There are also some brown boxes on the shelf, with some paint smudged and dried on the bottom of it.
Paper underneath the shelf have burgundy droplets on it, and have outlines of the shelf.
The carpet is a dark-green, but something is amiss.
Split burgundy paint is dried into the carpet, along with a ominous pool of red stuff.
A bed is next to one of the walls, with a duvet with tiny cartoons of dogs on it, with chocolate brown sheets and pillows.
There appears to be a small safe underneath.
There is also two bowls, one for water and the other for food.
The food one says 'Helen'.
Speaking of Helen, the said dog is on the bed.
Her ears prick up, and she looks at Apollo and Juniper.
She bounds of the bed and stops at the feet of them.
Helen wags her tail, and her tag, which says 'Helen 4311', jigs.
"Oof!" woofed the dog, wagging her tail.
Helen spins round, then sits down, with a healthy smile.
"Well, hello there!" went Juniper, stroking the dog.
Apollo smiled.
"WOOF!" went Helen, excitedly.
Helen span round again, chasing her tail.
"Isn't she playful?" asked Apollo, looking at the dog.
Juniper peered into the room, and saw that Helen's food bowl is empty.
"Looks like her food is gone."
Juniper looked at Apollo.
"Helen must be hungry at the moment, due to there being no food for her."
On the mention of the word 'food', Helen's ear's pricked up.
She span round a few times, then went back into Dog's room.
Helen grabbed the bowl and came back.
She put the bowl at their feet again, then look at the two, wagging her tail.
Juniper smiled, then turned to Apollo.
"Looks like Helen's hungry." she stated.
"I'll go get her some food."
Apollo nodded.
"That's fine."
Juniper gave Apollo the key, then left with Helen's bowl, with the dog in tow.
Apollo looked into the room.
"Right..." he thought.
"Time for some investigation..."
Apollo walked into the room, to investigate.
He first checked out the paint area.
He looked at the outline of the shelf on the paper first.
He noticed that some of the paint is going into the area where the shelf would of layed, like a streak.
"Hmm..." thought Apollo.
"From what I can see, the shelf must have been laying here to dry.
It would of stayed here until it was dried, then Dog would of moved it to the wall, where it would of hanged.
But this bit here shows that the shelf was moved while it was still wet, which means the shelf was here drying when Dog left the shop."
Apollo turned to look at the spilled paint.
"I think Dog isn't a klutz's enough to spill this paint.
He must of put the lid on top.
Helen might of knocked the paint over, though..."
Apollo went the shelf, and looked at boxes and the shelf itself.
"Someone else must have been here that night...
I doubt that that Maxie would of known about the shelf.
The paint on the bottom of the boxes are small, but looks like that the boxes were put on the shelf after it was put up.
The question is, why?"
Apollo noticed that the paint had finger-prints on them.
He blinked.
"Finger prints, huh? I wonder why they are there..."
Paint Data added to the Court Record.
Blood T-Shirt moved to Paint Data.
Apollo then turned his attention to the red pool.
He knelt down to it.
"This looks like blood...
It can't be Maxie's as he was killed outside.
Dog didn't look like he's injured, so it can't be him.
It can't be Trevor's since he's too small to make a puddle that big.
Helen didn't look to be in pain earlier, so it isn't hers.
Then who could it belong to?"
Blood Puddle added to the Court Record.
Apollo's attention then drew onto the safe.
Since it was under the bed, Apollo had to go under the bed, to look at it.
It's a simple one, where you have to turn the dial to get the right combination.
Apollo stared at the little safe, to think what code could open it.
He feels it's important to find out what's in this safe, because it may get Dog pronounced innocent.
"Right, what could it be?
I didn't see any numbers around the shop to remind Dog what it could be, and if I do leave to find the combination, Prosecutor Blackquill and Detective Gumshoe will find this place open.
…
…
That letter...
It had a clue in it.
'Trevor, Helen, Back of Key.'
Maybe this safe is Maxie's?
He might of left a clue to opening the safe in it. He knew that the murderer could of discovered the letter, but from the state the packaging was in when Juniper discovered it.
But what could it mean?
This safe is number coded, and the clue 'Trevor, Helen, Back of Key' doesn't make sense...
…
….
…
Wait a second...
Trevor has the number 42 on his head.
Helen has the number 4311 on her tag."
Apollo pulled out the key.
"So, the last number or numbers are on this key?"
Apollo scanned the key, through out and to the smallest detail.
He couldn't figure it out.
There was no number on the key.
Just a regular key with the handle bit at the end, where the hole looks like a 0.
…
…
…
See what I did there?
Apollo was shocked at this.
"The clue isn't on the back of the key, the key is a clue in itself again!
Maxie must of did this to confuse the murderer if they even found the letter..."
Apollo grabbed some gloves and did the code to the safe.

Then the safe opened, and Apollo peered inside.
Inside, was a second letter.
Apollo took the letter, and opened it.
This is what it said inside:
'Dear to who ever see this:
If you are a detective, or Dog Conners's lawyer, congratulations, you found the ticket to Dog's freedom.
If you are my murderer, screw you. Are you happy now? That an innocent man is going to jail because of you so-called 'revenge'?
Anyway, time to tell the truth.
My friend, Dog Conners, received a letter a few months back, one that threatened him.
He thought nothing of it, but I did.
What is said... scared me.
The Church Members of L.A People's Christian Church, mainly, Grant Fully, the Priest, Mark Angel, the Bishop of California, Grace Angel, one of Mark's daughters, Lucy Angel, the other of Mark's daughters, and Raz Videl, a taxi driver, made me feel suspicious.
All of them have ties to what happened three years ago, what happened to Ellen Angel.
They would have a motive to killing me.
So, I decided to investigate.
Mark and Grant are the least suspicious to me. Even if they don't know that me and Dog were there when Detective Angel had her heart attack, I can tell that they wouldn't want to hurt Dog.
Lucy is slightly more suspicious, which I confirmed that before Dog joined the Church, she knew me and Dog's identities.'
Apollo raised his eyebrows.
"...What?"
He decided to read on.
'However, she seems committed to her faith, and my sense tell me that she has forgive Dog and me about it.
Overall, Grace and Raz are the most suspicious.
I saw Grace about a month ago overhearing Lucy praying about her worries, and from what I could tell, Lucy confess about knowing about the incident.
I was quite shocked to see Grace's expression turn ugly.
That same day, a few hours later, as Dog went out, I accidentally left the threatening letter out. We were closed, but I opened the door to let some air flow through, because I was tiding up, and it was getting messy.
I saw Grace come in and she took the letter. I was too late to notice properly and by the time I did, she was long gone.
Since Grace now knows what happened three years ago, I hope that date of Dog's doesn't go badly, if he's not suspected of my murder.
I can at least confirm that Grace is not my killer, as she was shocked confession, something my killer would of already know of, however, may play some part in it.
Raz, however, is most suspicious.
Brother of Ellen, family comes into the motive.
When I joined Dog's shop, he visited us.
Just to note, this was before the threatening letter came.
He was buying some sunflower seeds, as Dog also sells seeds at his shop.
The way he handled his money, was quite suspicious.
And his aura... anger and sadness at the same time.
So, Raz was the last person I investigated.
What I found out, Raz had been meeting with a person to help him cope with Ellen's death.
But, Grant told me that Raz never did that.
So, I went to find out what they were really talking about.
What I found out, was the most shocking thing yet.
Ellen Angel is not dead.
"WHAT?!" roared Apollo, shocked.
This caused the shelfs behind to to shake, and fall down.
The boxes spilled out, video tapes and CD boxes fell out.
'I found out this about a month ago.
I had to flee to tell Dog, but Raz and that women, Jane Doe, spotted me.
I couldn't tell Dog what happened after they saw me, because Dog's life would be at threat.
So, I wrote everything down, and hid this letter and the clue so the keepers of Justice may find out what happened to me.
There was something else that they were talking about, but I couldn't hear what it was.
I told Grace that same day, that Ellen is not dead and she slapped me.
She, to my shock, swore at me, and ran away crying.
Since Ellen's daughter won't believe me, I had to write this down, so someone would see this.
To put it in a nutshell, either Raz Videl or Jane Doe is my killer, and either other of them are accomplices.
To Dog's lawyers or the detectives on this case, Dog is innocent. Raz or Jane are my killers, and it's up to you to find out who it is.
Don't say that you found the letter, or they'll kill you for it.
To my killer, if you found this, screw you again.
Yours sincerely, Maxie Money-Made.'
Maxie's Letter Updated.
Apollo blinked.
"A victim that knows who killed him, and sent a letter from beyond the grave to prove his friend innocent?
What a twisted case..."
Suddenly, Juniper and Lucy, without Taka, burst into the room, fear in there faces.
"Apollo!" called Juniper, scared.
"We heard you yell..."
"You scared the living daylights out of us!" went Lucy, angry.
"Don't do that!"
Apollo sighed.
"Sorry, I just found something shocking."
Apollo went to tell with Juniper of what he discovered, while Lucy looked round the room.
She saw some of videos and the boxes that were scatted across the floor.
She turned one of them, then her eye's widened.
It said 'PF-5 Incident Evidence.'
Lucy knew this evidence.
"WHAAAATTTTT?!" she roared, shocked.
This cause Apollo and Juniper to jump.
"What is it?" asked Juniper, surprised.
"Remember what I said earlier, about the missing evidence being stolen from the Angel of Death?" questioned Lucy, pale.
"The evidence that being videos and CDs of child rape or being killed?" replied Apollo.
Lucy nodded.
She jested to the fallen videos.
"These's videos here...
They're the missing evidence!"
Apollo's eyes widened.
"What?"
"The missing evidence that has gone missing...
It's right here!
IT'S RIGHT HERE!"
Apollo stared at the fallen videos.
This case has become more and more twisted by the second...
