"Why don't you have anything good to eat?" Eren called from the kitchen.

Levi rolled his eyes. He wanted to blow his brains out because Eren was way past getting on his nerves. "Just eat something and shut up already!" He called back. Levi turned his eyes back at the cat sitting on his coffee table to continue the staring match. He wasn't sure what irked him so much about the feline but he felt the need to watch its every move. The cat was plotting something, he could tell.

The sky outside was dark, so little light came through the windows. It was eight PM. Strange. Hangi should have been back a long time ago… that is, if she could get in the sealed door. But the thing that bothered Levi the most was Hangi's lack of response to any of his messages. And Erwin? He hadn't answered either. It was all getting a bit too strange for Levi's liking.

Levi's gaze was lingering on his phone on the coffee table that he almost didn't catch the cat unsheathe its claws, reaching out to scratch along the surface of the table. "Hey, you little shit. Don't even think about it," Levi said, pointing at him.

The cat reached out slowly with one paw and lightly touched its claws to the wood. It was taunting him, Levi realized. A motherfucking cat was taunting him! But before Levi could do anything about it, Eren had arrived the room holding a box of crackers. "You need to go grocery shopping," Eren said as she slumped down in the seat opposite Levi. She took one cracker and offered it to Jean; he, as expected, ignored the cracker but came to sit by Eren anyway.

Levi didn't reply to her comment and instead glanced at the clock. Only a few minutes had gone by. He was starting to get worried.

He glanced to the side and caught sight of his pill bottles sitting on the side table, waiting. Usually Hangi would force him to take the wretched things but tonight, he found himself reaching for them his self. Picking up a few of them, he examined the bottles in his hand, wondering what both Erwin and Hangi could be doing that neither would answer nor tell them where they would be.

"Are you really sick?" Eren asked suddenly.

Levi looked at her. Her eyes were surprisingly full of concern and suddenly this conversation sounded all too familiar. "Yeah," Levi said. "I'm dying, actually."

Silence settled between them for a moment. Levi picked up his phone, collected the remaining pill bottles, and stood. "I'm going to take care a few things. You can sleep on the couch. Extra blankets and stuff are in the closet," he said, nodding towards the closet near the hallway.

He left her behind and headed into the kitchen, dumping his armful of bottles onto the counter with a clatter. Then he clicked at his phone, bringing it to life, and scrolled through his short contact list to Hangi's name. He dialed the number and went to fill a glass of water while he waited. The shrill ring continued while the water rushed from the faucet and continued until it went to her voicemail. Levi cursed lowly, tossing the phone unceremoniously onto the countertop.

Levi was seething as he opened his pill bottles, gathering the necessary amounts before tipping back a handful and swallowing hard. Why the hell wasn't she answered? What had happened to her?

Afterwards, he ended up calling her another ten times and Erwin at least eight. This was getting out of hand. He was tired, drained, and the florescent light of the kitchen was starting to hurt his heavy eyes. He glanced at the time on the microwave. A bit past nine. When had that happened?

Suddenly there was a soft meow that snapped Levi out of his thoughts. Jean was standing with his tail straight up, his dark eyes focused on Levi.

"What is it?" Levi asked.

The cat meowed again, tail swishing. It padded partially out of the kitchen, stopped and looked back at Levi. Levi got the idea and started to follow him.

Jean led him to Eren, of course. Levi had expected that, but what he hadn't expected was the sight in front of him. The girl's brown hair was splayed all over her face and even in her wide-open mouth. She was lying on her stomach with one hand hanging off the couch and the other was tucked beneath her body. It looked uncomfortable to Levi, especially since she'd forgotten to grab the blankets.

Levi found himself smiling. Eren was the weirdest girl he'd ever met.

Going to the closet, he grabbed two thick blankets and pillow. He went back to her and watched as Jean crawled up onto the couch and settled along the crook of her arm. Once Jean was settled, Levi took the first blanket and wrapped it up over her legs and up to her mid-back. He did the same with the second blanket. Levi paused with the pillow though. Would she wake up if he moved her head?

He kneeled down slowly at the side of the couch and shifted the pillow to one hand. He cocked his head, looking at her sleeping face. She was calm but her eyebrows were drawn into a frown. Levi let out a breath before reaching forward to sweep the hair away from her face. He tucked gently behind her ear. How can a girl be so different from one minute to the next?

His hand froze by her ear as Eren shifted slightly. Her frowned dropped away and she went still again.

Levi removed his fingers and watched her for a moment, ensuring that she would stay asleep. When she didn't move again, he tucked his fingers under the back of her head and lifted it up enough to slip the pillow under quickly. He put her head back down as gently as he could.

For a moment, Levi couldn't help watching her. It was irrational and ridiculous but Levi thought this girl wasn't so bad… at least, when she was sleeping.

A paw hit his shoulder and he looked over to see Jean standing at the edge of the couch, poking him with his paw. "Fine, fine," Levi whispered at the cat. So he stood and turned off the light before leaving.

Hangi groaned, feeling a crick in her neck. "What the hell?" She tried to move her arms and found them bound… to a chair. She was tied to a chair. Opening her eyes with the realization, she struggled against her confines.

"Hangi, you're awake!" Petra cried.

Hangi looked up. Petra and Erwin were sitting opposite from her, tied up just as she was.

"Where are we?" Hangi said slowly, looking about the room.

It was a wide room with not much in it. A couch, a table… It looked overly ordinary for a kidnapping. The room was dark, only lit by one lamp. That seemed fitting.

"I don't know," Petra replied.

"It has something to do with Levi," Erwin uttered. "His curse…"

Hangi glanced at him, growing fearful. "Do they have Levi here?"

"No, we don't," Annie said, coming into the room, followed by two others. Bertholdt and Reiner. "But don't you worry, we don't need to do anything to him. He'll do it to himself."

"What are you talking about?" Petra asked, looking as panicked as Hangi felt.

Annie smirked and looked behind her to where a new figure entered the room. Hangi gasped, recognizing him immediately.

Eren's father. Grisha.

He grinned down at the three of them and said, "Levi only needs to fall in love."
