Listen With Your Heart Chapter 13
Not long after the three of them went their separate ways from Oscorp. Peter left for home one way and Phoebe with Curt Connors another with plans of their own for the evening.
Not for lack of trying to be included of course.
To celebrate the success in the lab Curt Connors had decided to take Phoebe out to dinner to one of their favorite restaurants. One that they haven't really quite had the chance to sample for a while. It's a ramen and sushi join in Manhattan called Zen Ramen & Sushi. They invited Peter to come along with them, but he declined saying he had to get home. Before Peter left Phoebe exchanged her cell phone number with him so he could possibly get in contact with her more regularly. Peter accepted, smiled, gave her a hug, and then left.
Father and daughter went directly to the restaurant right after this. They ordered the usual stuff they had there and made plans to perhaps meander around Times Square afterwards since the restaurant was merely a few blocks away. It would be a good way to end the day and call it a night before they went home.
Little did they know that they were soon to be sidetracked.
The beginning of this day may have started out bright, but the ending not so much.
Just as father and daughter were getting ready to leave after thoroughly enjoying a wondrous meal together Phoebe's phone went off. Checking the caller ide she saw it was Peter.
Curious she answered inquiring what was going on. The next second Phoebe's face immediately went pale in horror. The grip she had on her phone slackened so much that it fell out of her hand. It would've landed on the floor if her father hadn't caught it in time and handed it back to her. He was really concerned, but didn't want to interrupt knowing it must've been something important for Peter to call them so soon. Fortunately Phoebe snapped out of her shock a little to finish the call and get info she required. Only when she hung up did she answers her fathers questioning look.
Looks like they wouldn't be going through Times Square after all tonight.
Voice cracking with sorrow, Phoebe said "Uncle Ben is dead."
