Prompt #401 from tamingthemuse- Alter Ego
Note: From now on most of my tamingthemuse stories will be named as the challenge.
The girls arrived at the crypt exactly an hour and a half later. Dawn was at the door first. When Xander phoned them he sounded out of breath which was weird considering he didn't need to breathe anymore. She had a feeling it wasn't because he was upset with what happened but more to do with Spike smoochies. She wasn't blind, she saw how Spike looked at Xander.
"Hey what's this?" Dawn asked as she peeled an envelope off the crypt door.
Buffy walked around the destroyed desk and took the envelope from Dawn. She looked at the front and back. "I don't know. It has Spike's name on it though. Guess we'll have to wait for him to open it." With that she pushed opened the door. "Hey, Spike you've got mail. Open it!" She paused causing Dawn and Willow to bump into her.
Xander and Spike jumped away from each other but it was too late they were caught. "Er… hey Buff! You guys sure got here fast."
Dawn peeked her head around Buffy's shoulder. "Were they kissing? Did I miss them kissing?"
"You knew about this?" Buffy asked upset. Only because she didn't know.
"Yes… well no. I mean I knew Spike had a thing for Xander so I knew it was only a matter of time," Dawn explained. "I mean come on, who could resist Spike?"
Everyone mentally agreed with that even Willow "Gay now" Rosenberg.
Xander was just glad he couldn't blush. "So… what were you saying about mail?"
Spike smirked at Xander before accepting the envelope from Buffy. He frowned when he looked at it. Who the hell would be leaving him mail?
"Maybe it was whoever left you the gift outside," Willow suggested as if she'd read Spike's mind.
It made sense. Spike ripped open the envelope and pulled out the slip of paper. His brow wrinkled up as he read it.
"What does it say?" Dawn asked, being the nosy teenager that she was.
"You'll pay for hurting me, signed Angry Unicorn," Spike read aloud. "Angry Unicorn?"
"Is that a type of demon?" Buffy asked.
Willow shook her head. "No… an alter ego." Everyone just stared at her. "Who do we all know that loves unicorns?"
"Bugger," Spike said. "I thought she went off to Paris?"
"I guess she came back," Dawn replied. "What's the problem anyways? It's not like she's that scary. I mean she's an absolute moron."
Buffy nodded. "She is but she's still a vampire and she has a vendetta against Spike. We need to take this seriously."
Spike would never say this out loud but it felt good that they cared about his safety. Even if it was just Harmony. "We'll track her down."
Yellow eyes glowed in the dark a feral grin couldn't be seen. "Oh Blondie Bear. You have no idea what you are up against. I'm not the same girl you staked or used. I am so much more now," Harmony said. She pulled a Ziploc bag out filled with something and looked at it. "I wonder how you are going to feel about your next present?" She laughed softly, turned and walked away.
