Hi guys, hope you're enjoying it so far, please read and review and let me know what you think/where you see the story going. Enjoy!
once again I own nothing.
Blaine.
There he was, stood between Santana and a younger blonde woman with Lucas on his back. Kurt hadn't spoken to his ex properly in over six years, it hadn't ended badly between them, but it had just been so hard to keep up the contact. Looking at the man now, Kurt could still see the handsome teen he'd fallen for all those years ago. The boy he'd danced with at prom, who'd changed schools to be with him, his first love. He had to admit that Blaine definitely still held onto that charming boyish grin, whilst the short stubble and wax free hair provided a look of stylish maturity. Sam's voice interrupted his thoughts and he realised that the newcomers were now at the table sliding in across from him.
"Oh right, sorry, Rachel, Kurt, this is Stacey" said the big blonde man gesturing to the unfamiliar girl who'd managed to slide in between himself and Holly.
"Hey" she smiled at the pair, giving a slight wave before Blaine cleared his throat and nodded towards them,
"It's great to see everyone, you look so well! I can't believe I missed out on the last few days, how's life treating you all?" he asked slipping in next to Brittany, nodding across to Puck and grinning a greeting at Quinn, the blonde boy bouncing on his knee. After catching up on Rachel's performances, Kurt's recent productions, Quinn's impending marriage and Puck's military success, Blaine managed to share that he was teaching music and drama at Plainfield Academy in New Jersey before their food arrived and the talk turned to mumbled memories of the food and their time spent in the place.
"I can't believe how close we all are, I mean we probably all live less than an hour away from each other, how have we not bumped into each other?!" said Rachel, having finished off her salad she'd just been sat sipping her drink and watching her old classmates. She couldn't wait any longer to find out what was going on. Something was a little off, was the Stacey girl with Sam or was she just a friend, clearly she knew the family too because Lucas had been jabbering away at her in his over animated and often unintelligible child babble. Blaine was being odd too, some how he'd stayed in touch with the, she just couldn't work out why. He had been really close to Sam through a lot of their time at school, but it'd always been Blaine and Kurt as a pair. Maybe that's what it was, she'd only ever know Blaine as her best friend's boyfriend, yeah he'd been part of Glee too and potentially would be counted as a friend, but she'd never really seen him uncoupled as it were. It was so unfamiliar, seeing him now, not sitting next to Kurt, no arm wrapped around the slighter shoulders. Strange. Instead that arm lay across the back of the booth behind Brittany. Since when had they been close?! Curious she thought. Hearing the voice of Puck she was snapped from her own thoughts.
"I know, I'm thinking I might have to pay a visit to the big apple, we should've just thrown the reunion there," he grinned
"Oh yes, you should definitely all come across, I have a spare room and Kurt has as well, you need to come to the city! We can show you round, you can even see our show!" Squealed the brunette, clapping her hands excitably.
"Yes!" came Kurt's excited voice, "we need to organise this, get Mercedes and the others involved, I'm sure between the lot of us there'd be room for everyone without the need for hotels. Do you guys have any spare bedrooms?" he continued, looking from Santana to Brittany,
"I guess we can put a few people up and there's the apartment above the studio too if needs be," said the Latina, looking to her wife for confirmation
"Yeah, but there's the sofa bed in the study as well, so it could be more at a push, three doubles, so how many people are there?" nodded the blonde turning back to Kurt.
"Okay, Puck, Finn plus two, Mercedes, Mr Shue, Tina, Mike maybe plus one, Sugar, Erm Artie and Joe too, he might have kids with him too and Quinn what about you?" listed the pale skinned man questioning the green eyed blonde.
"Oh no, I'm in Boston so should be fine, but we've only got a sofa bed at the moment, how's that?" she replied Kurt nodding happily
"this is definitely going to have to happen, we probably only need a few more beds, how many are we up to so far?" he mused, tallying people off on his fingers.
"Yeah we've go a spare room too, so that's one more room," Sam added "We'll be hard pushed to find a day we can all do though, Kurt this organising business has to be on you!" he continued, knowing the flamboyant man would revel in planning such a get together, that man would be the best party planner in the whole of the US if he ever gave up on musicals.
"Blaine, what about you, how far are you from getting across, you might be better staying with one of us if you're furthest out, oh Holly you'll be there too, won't you?!" the brunette chattered away "Oh and what about coach Bieste and maybe Miss Pilsbury, you guys could have your own little reunion too!" she continued to the eye rolling of the older woman. "Do you two have spare beds too?" she nodded towards Holly and Blaine.
"Well this little man has a little bed at mine, but that's about it, unless people aren't adverse to couch surfing." The blonde shrugged to nods from the rest of the table before Rachel turned to Blaine once more,
"well Sam's already said we've got a spare room, but if Stace is at college there'd be more space." He replied, brining confused looks to the faces of half the table.
"wait you guys live together," said a shocked Puck "like all three of you?" he continued looking between the three of them.
"Well not really, I just have a room for when I'm back, so usually it's just those two," came the response from the young blonde
"since when were you…"began Rachel, tailing off, unsure where this was leading, an oblivious Kurt spoke up
"oh right, how long have you two been housemates?" he said looking between the pair, Sam fidgeting uncomfortably before responding
"about four years now," began the blonde, looking sheepishly at the smaller man "sorry Kurt I meant to tell you sooner, it's just we've not really had a chance have we an-"
"wait." A look of shock dawned on Kurts face, a pink tinge glancing across his porcelain cheeks, "you two are…You're…What?!" he exclaimed "but you're not...he's not even gay!" he continued before bursting into a fit of laughter. By which point Sam had turned beetroot red and, save for an open mouthed Rachel, the rest of the group were trying not to snigger too much.
After a minute or so the near hysterical man had managed to get his breath back, "I knew it, I KNEW!" he giggled "how could we ever believe you were straight?!" he continued, pointing to a dismayed Sam as the waitress arrived to collect their plates. "Sorry I'm just going to freshen up, that's really got me!" chuckled Kurt sliding out from the booth and heading to the bathrooms.
"Well he took that better than expected," shrugged Blaine.
"I really can't get over it, Sam and Blaine! Cute, straight, football playing Sam and Blaine. What happened?" pondered Rachel as the taxi pulled up at the hotel, "how?" After the Bam revelation the group had slowly begun to dissipate, Holly heading off "for an early night" (much to the amusements of Santana and Brittany) Quinn to phone Aaron before bed giving Stacey a lift. After finishing off the last of their drinks Kurt and Rachel settled up at the bar and headed off too, leaving the others putting on their jackets and no doubt wrestling small children into extra layers. Thinking about the evening she was surprised to find herself smiling. It really had been good to catch up away from the games and she found she kind of missed the interaction with such a variety of people, heck she even found the food acceptable. All in all it couldn't have gone better. Realising that she'd fallen behind her friend in the lobby she hurried after him, a sudden thought hitting her; "Kurt, wait, do I still get my f-sharp? I mean you were only half right, he's on the right team, but not up for batting practice as you put it" the small woman shuddered thinking of Kurt's analogies.
"Ugh I don't think I can deal with this now Rach, those cocktails have gotten the better of me and I'm not in the mood to discuss the sunshine kid. I need water and bed!" he replied, reaching out his arm for her to take as they stepped into the elevator.
