DISCLAIMER: I do not own Spectacular Spider-Man, its characters or stories, as I neither own any other Marvel character. This is a non-profit fanmade story. I don´t make any money out from this.
A/N: The next arc has finally arriven. And as some of last chapter´s comments asked about the X-Men, well, here they are. This will be a ride, believe me. However, just remember that I wont include every sinlge X-men character in this saga; so if you dont find your favorite mutant in here it is only because I will inlcude him later. Wolverine, Kitty and Dani Moonstar will be included later by demand, but not now.
Q/A: lots of people are asking for more PeterxFelicia; it will happen eventually; but there are still a few characters that need fleshing out before she can return properly to the story. After that, then we will certainly have some ship tease between the two of them.
Swan Parker: This will remain a Peter/MJ fic as long as it needs to be that way. I will switch between love interests, and try to keep most of the girls in equal ground.
Silentman87: I will include Dani Moonstar later. I cant have every X-men in this story, as much as I wish it.
heroman45: Already decided it will be 616 Jessica Drew, though a few characteristics of Ultimate Jessica might latch onto her. I might still do something with the Clone saga later, so dont worry.
"The Vault", Rykers Island; New York City Coast
The Vault. The name had become quite known to the criminal population in New York, as most of the Super Criminals of the city as also the leaders of the criminal underworld were being held prisoners on it. A special section created on Ryker´s Island in order to hold some of the most dangerous super villains and high-risk criminals. The likes of the Rhino, the Vulture, amongst others, were on it. As were normal but still dangerous or influential criminals like Silverman, and the Enforcers. In order to contain the more powerful villains, this place had been installed with special measures created to contain them, courtsey of OsCorp. Captain Stacy had been adamant about double-checking the systems installed on it after the reveal of the true identity of the Green Goblin as none other than Norman Osborn (which had put him in a very heated discussion with Mayor Walters about mis-spending the city´s money, which he had thankfully won).
Such was the fame of the Vault, that even a small fry like Jason Macendale Jr. knew about it. Shortly put, if you are captured and kept in the Vault, then that means you belong to the cream of the crop of New York´s criminal scene. Or you are extremely unlucky, just as Jason was.
Walking throught the corridors of this place, a small cart on his hands, with small plates filled with food and water. Jason was never someone noteworthy, which had always been the reason of his hate towards society. He was thin, average-heighted, slight asian features, bushy hair, and worst of all, big glasses. He had always been prone to be picked up back when he was a kid, and that was what drove him to mugging and theft. Of course, he had made this his profession of choice during a time when all criminals in the city, no matter how small-time they were, had to oath their allegiance to the Big Man. He had done it, of course. However, after the Green Goblin had quite-literally crashed on his place and created his own gang, Jason had been able to differentiate himself from other criminals. Even after the death of the Goblin, he and his cronies were able to get around by selling the weapons left by the late Osborn. And that is when he had been beaten and captured by that freak on white costume.
And now, here he was, serving food to others criminals. He sighed... was this what the rest of his life would be like? He arrived to a cell that had the name "Alexander O´Heirn" on it. He placed the food on a small device, that passed it throught the door. On the other side of the door, was the Rhino. One of Spider-man´s sworn enemies: a large man in an even larger suit. The design had been engineered by Otto Ocatvius (also a resident of the prison) and financed by OsCorp, of course. Two mechanical arms took the little charole and neared it to O´Heirn.
"Please, do not get closer to the door. Any attempt to escape will not be tolerated." said a recording, reminding the Rhino that should he ever try to escape, he would be put to sleep before he even tries.
"I know." quipped the Rhino, taking the food while giving a face to the voiceover. Jason kept walking, repeating the same process in the cell of each criminal held in here, including Doc Ock and the Vulture. He even passed the empty cell that had a name on it despite lacking a host, which read "William Baker". Only one more...
When he reached the end of the hallway, however, something distracted him. Accompanied by various police members, two figures that clearly werent either cops nor criminals. One was a man of pale complexion, brown combed hair, in a blue suit, wearing a white shirt and a purple tie, wearing sunglasses; which given the fancy cane he held, meant that he was blind. The other figure was a young woman: latina, it seemed, wearing caki pants, a pink blouse and a purple light sweater. Jason smiled.
"Hey! Sweetheart! Wanna come by my cell and have a good time?" insinuated in a dirty way the former henchman. The face of the young girl soon moved into both fear and disgust.
"Say three more words and I will see it that you are holed on your cell for the rest of your days." threatened the blind man, directly to the criminal´s face.
"You damn cripple..." growled Jason, trying to punch the blind man on the face, only for this one to sidestep and make the thug trip with his cane, face-first into the ground.
"I´d stay there, if I was you." warned the blind man. Jason growled and was about to try to hit him again, but various guards restrained him and dragged him to his cell. Some disciplinary action was in order.
"I´m so sorry about that, Miss Allen." said the man to the younger girl. "I didnt think you would have to deal with such a treatment."
"Dont worry, Mister Murdock. It´s OK." reassured Liz Allan to the man in front of her. "I didnt come to a prison expecting it to be a walk in the park. But are you okay? How did you evade his punch?"
"Tae-bo tapes." said the man, smiling. Liz just eyed the lawyer suspiciously. There were so many things wrong with that statement...
"Here we are." said one the officers that was accompanying them. "Remember, you only have five minutes."
"I will, thanks." replied Liz to the officer. She then turned to the lawyer her parents had hired to help his brother, Matt Murdock. "Mister Murdock, thank you very much for allowing me to see my brother. It has been so long since I have seen him, I really miss him."
"What kind of lawyer would I be if I said no?" smiled Murdock gently to the girl. "Now go, and remind him I will be back in a few days to keep working on his case."
"Yes, thanks." said Liz, before turning to see the door in front of her. The name "Mark Allen" was written on it. After the door was opened, Liz entered and saw, for the first time in months, to her brother. "Mark!" yelled excited Liz, until running to the arms of her surprised brother.
"Liz?" asked the male teenager, after seeing his sister.
SPIDER-MAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD
CHAPTER 14: COMING OF AGE, PART 1
Empire State University, Genetic Lab; Greenwhich Village, New York
Dr. Miles Warren, renowed and skilled scientist; not a man of many faults. Though he had to admit that he had always considered himself to be an impatient person. But this was probably because of his professionalism. Therefore, he didnt like it when people turned out to be inpunctual. Miles Warren, a textbook example of what a scientist looks and act likes; he wore a short, combed brown hair, glasses, and aslo a mustache on his face, hiding most of the expressions of his mouth. He had never liked to look too outstanding, he would rather let his work talk for him. He wore a plain light blue shirt, a red tie and blue jeans. Over them, a white robe that only served to further accentuate his nerd look. He watched at his clock, impatient. "He is late."
"Only two minutes late." said an arriving male voice, making Warren turn. There he was.
"I´m a busy man, Mister Morbius." replied expresionless (yet, clearly irritated) Warren. "If I am to make business with someone, then I expect them to be as professional as their reputation claims them to be."
"Forgive me, Doctor." said apologetically the young man, Michael Morbius. A young, yet very succesful scientist that thanks to his fortune had been able to achieve some important achievements in various fields of genetic manipulation (especially, concerning blood and inmune systems). He had a wild mane of blue-ish dark hair, and a very pale complexion. Dressed in a fancy black suit, a red tie and and blue shirt on him. "Me and your lovely assistant got a little sidetracked while she was showing me the way here." he said, while giving Warren´s assistant a charming smile.
Debra Whitman, for her part, paid him no mind, and just turned and left without uttering a single word. Just as she always did. A young female scientist, an afro-american woman with short brown hair and blue eyes. Huge glasses, she had a light blue shirt, with a black skirt and brown nylon leggins underneath it. A white robe on her, and a polite yet empty look on her face.
"I can see you caused quite an impression on her." said Warren, almost joking. "Now, I would appreciate it if we skip the introductions and properly discuss the reason of our business arrangement, Mister Morbius."
"Gladly." said Morbius, faking indignance for Warren´s behaviour.
"This way, please." motioned Warren, as he guided Morbius to another room. They stopped near to a locked door, and Warren started to enter various security codes in order to open the heavily secured entrance. "Wait a minute, please." Morbius nodded.
As Morbius waited for the doctor to open the door, he started to eye everything around him. It seemed like pretty much every other university lab he had visited. Nothing special about it, which irritated him greatly. He had come here because Dr. Warren had promised him to show him something that might help him with his condition, yet this didnt seem to be but another empty promise, just as every other doctor he had met before.
He noticed a little controller on a table, which seemed strange in a BioMed laboratory. Curiosity took the better of him, and he grabbed the controller. It had a single red button, and he decided to press it.
...
Nothing. After various seconds, he pressed it again, nothing. The he did it again over and over again. Still nothing. How boring. He left it back where it was. Warren called to him, and he followed him.
He had no idea what he had just done.
Back at the Vault
"So, that´s how everyone is doing back at home?" asked Mark, glad that his family was doing well, despite his problems. "Good to know."
"Yes, everyone is sad, but we are doing all we can in order to help you out, Mark." replied Liz, trying to comfort her brother.
"I´m glad. Well, now that´s out of the way, tell me: how is the gang doing back at M3?" asked Mark, trying to cheer up the mood a little. After all, he didnt want to make Liz feel worse than what she was feeling right now, and he wanted this visit to be a positive thing. However, the sad face that he got as an answer showed him that it wouldnt be a cheery conversation. "Oh... That bad, huh?"
"You know about Harry´s dad, right?" asked Liz, trying to skip the hardest part to explain of all the problems everyone had been facing for the last months.
"Yes, since it is relevant about my case, Mister Murdock told me about the whole Green Goblin death." replied Mark, looking down to control his rage. He closed his fist in reminiscense of how the Green Goblin had manipulated him to become into a monster. The fact that he had died was nothing but karmic revenge. However, that left him without one person to help him to cure his condition.
"Well, then I guess I just should tell you everything then." said Liz, sighing. "I... He... Peter broke up with me." Her voice was almost broken when she told him this.
"What!?" asked Mark, surprised. "I knew that asshole wasnt any good for you. Did he at least explain you why?"
"No. But I know it was because he wanted to be with Gwen." replied Liz.
"I knew it!" said Mark, furious. "Parker is gonna pay once I´m out of here! To leave you alone while he goes with his new girl!"
"Peter is not with Gwen," intervened Liz, much to Mark´s confusion, "She is still with Harry."
"So she played him?" asked Mark, not following what was going on here.
"No. From what I understand, she and Peter were going to break up with both Harry and me in order to hook up; but since Harry´s dad died, she decided to stay with him..."
"Out of pity? That´s weird..." said Mark, surprised, "especially because Osborn must know that she is still with him because of that." Maybe he hadnt personally met the younger Osborn, but as far as he knew, his pride wouldnt let him just allow that.
"He is still keeping her in order to show up Peter." explained Liz, which was a conclusion she had reached after a while.
"Oh... That makes sense, i guess." said Mark. "So Parker is alone now?" He hoped that was the case; he was an idiot, and didnt deserve to be with anyone after how he made Liz suffer.
Liz didnt know how to answer that. What was she going to tell him? The truth would crush him! She stood silent for a few seconds, until she noticed one of the guards checking his clock. The five minutes were running out, and she couldnt waste how little, precious time she had with Mark like this.
She decided to tell him, nonetheless. He deserved to know the truth. "No... he is seeing someone right now. I think... that they might have even slept together during Spring Break."
"That bastard!" cursed Mark; he really hated this Parker kid now. "And who was the dumb broad who actually went and slept with him?"
Liz´s cheeks blushed red, and she turned her head, not able to face him directly. How was she going to tell him NOW!? "it... it was..."
"Liz?" asked Mark, confused and worried. "Who was it?"
"... Mary Jane." almost whispered Liz.
Mark´s eyes bolted open in both anger and astonishment. "MJ!? No way!"
"Sorry..." said Liz, seeing her brother both angry and agitated. "I just found out a little while ago myself."
"MJ... cheated on me?" He was out of words. He growled, he passed his hands over his hair... He then stood up and hit the wall of the room. "Dammit!"
After that, Mark just stayed silent for a while. "I guess... it´s normal, right?" He sat on his bed, covering his face with his hands. "Who would like to date a monster like me, after all?"
"Mark... no!" said Liz, trying to calm him down. "Please, dont say that."
"It´s OK." reassured Mark, "I half-expected her to have gone past me already by now. I just never would have imagined her to be with Parker."
"Mark..." said Liz, not knowing what to say.
"Liz... There´s something I have to confess. Truth is, I have already given up on returning back to a normal life by now." said Mark, a sad and resigned face on his face. "It is only natural for everybody else to continue with their lives... while I rot here in jail, for the rest of my life."
"Mark, no!" tried to comfort Liz. She was about to put her hand on his shoulder, but then the unthinkable happened.
Mark´s power activated.
Liz yelped from the surprise and inmediately pulled her hand back. Mark fell from the bed, and started to crawl back. "No! No! No! Why did it happen now!? What the hell is going on!? Why now!?"
"You! Stop, now!" said one of the guards. The police officers entered to the room and pointed their guns at him, ordering him to stop using his powers.
"I can´t stop! I can´t control my powers! You know it!" said Mark, defending himself.
His powers were going out of control. He transformed and turned back to normal over and over again.
One of the police officers started to drag Liz out, as she struggled to get back to her brother. Begging and imploring them not to hurt him. As soon as the police officers took Liz out and they also were out of the room, gas sleep drowned the room, and Mark felt unconcsious to the floor. Once the gas was cleared, Liz was able to see he hadnt returned to normal.
His powers had stayed activated, and they didnt seem to return back to the normal Mark any time soon.
"No! Mark!" she cried and begged, next to the door of the cell of her brother for at least half a minute. "Please! No! Mark!" The guards and Mr. Murdock took her out, knowing and regretting the fact that the poor girl had to go throught all of that. No one deserved to suffer this.
Liz could never forget this easily.
The lawyer of her brother assured her that this just further proved that Mark indeed needed help, and had told her that he would go against the whole world if it was necessary in oder to help Mark and cure him of his condition. Empty, meaningless words.
She didnt take a taxi, nor a bus. She decided to walk back home, lost on her thoughts. On how her whole world was now breaking apart, and she had no one to help her out with it.
Once she arrived to her home, she entered the place and completely ignored her parents. She just locked herself up in her room. She fell to her bed and started to cry uncontrollably, her whole world drowned in her tears. Until eventually, she felt asleep.
ESU Genetic Lab
Once Michael Morbius entered the place behind the suspiciously secured door in Warren´s Laboratory, he was able to see why all the secrecy. "What the hell is this?"
Warren seemed to be almost pleased with the reaction of the younger scientist. "This, Mister Morbius, is my actual research."
The room was filled with many cages, where various animals were jailed on them. From scorpions spiders, rats, lizards, insects, even a few stray dogs and cats. All of them, tagged and numbered with various project names.
"What is the meaning of this!?" asked Morbius to the other scientist. "What kind of Institution would allow you to have these animals jaied like this!?"
Warren only smiled. "This is the future. And no, they don´t know any of this, and they dont need to know, either." He walked away, ignoring Morbius´ astonished face and complaints.
"What... how is all of this supposed to help me?" asked the pale scientist, indignated.
"Mister Morbius, do you know about Spider-man?" asked Warren, ignoring Morbius´ previous questions.
"I... what? Of course I do! But what does that have to do with all of this!?" asked once again Morbius.
"It has to do with anything, Mister Morbius." said Warren. "Let me explain: The former owner of this lab before me was working on some dangerous, yet promising experiments, which could bring many positive possibilities about what could happen if you use various properties of the physiology of various animals and implement in the system of a human. Once I started to work on this lab, I found out about it. And let me tell you, I was quite impressed on what I found out on it."
"I still see no relation to a possible solution to my problem, Warren." retaliated Morbius.
"Oh, but you will." cut Warren. "See? This research has many possibilities towards the future, and now my entire work is being dedicated to see what the benefits of all of this could be."
"And what makes you believe that all of this wacko talk could be true?" asked Morbius, skeptical.
"Spider-man, for one;" mused himself Warren, "and I have also seen the results of doing it myself."
"I won´t belive it until i see it." said Morbius.
"Please, by all means." said Warren, while taking out a folder from one of his desks. "A while ago, a fine gentleman asked me to help him... improve himself, in order to be able to hunt Spider-man himself. Thanks to the fact that he allowed me to borrow some DNA and blood samples from his pet lion, I was able to help him with his dilemma. The results, as you can see, were incredibly satisfactory."
While Miles Warren explained all of this, Morbius checked the informtaion on the file that the older scientist had given him. Most of it seemed accurate, and nothing seemed out of order. Still, all of this was beyond him. "Why should I belive any of this?"
"Why?" asked Warren, mockingly, "Mister Morbius, we live in a world with Spider-mans, and Hulks, and Iron Mans and the Fantastic Four. Do you really think it is that far-fetched to think my work is possible?"
"I..." for once, he was right. The sudden appeareance of all these super heroes and villains had changed the way the world worked.
"Do you really belive it is fair that only they can benefit from this new world of possibilities, Mister Morbius?" asked Warren, as he walked closer to a crystal container with various asleep vampire bats on it. "You are dying, Michael. Don´t you think you deserve a second chance, just as all of those people had?"
"I... don´t want to be a superhero." answered Morbius.
"You won´t have to, mister Morbius." said sincerely Warren. "With both your and my research, as the financial help of your funding, I could explore a whole new world of possibilities together with what I have already accomplished! You told me you were desperate to find a cure for your illness. All I´m offering you is the most radical yet effective solution to it. If you help me, Mister Morbius, we could not only save your life, but the lives of many more people!"
Morbius was left speechless for a while. All of what Warren said right. He was dying; slowly, but surely. He had searched all over the globe, and not a single doctor could give him an answer to his problem. But maybe, he had been seeing things in the wrong way: he wanted to live, yet only looked for approved medicines, for inneficient approaches, for the same pills over and over again.
And the bottom line was that Michael Morbius didnt want to die. And he would do anything in order to prevent it from happening.
"I accept your offer, Doctor Warren." said Morbius, confident, but still a little shaked, as he extended his hand to Miles Warren.
Warren smiled, triumphantly. "You will not regret this, Mister Morbius." They both shook hands, sealing their contract.
Next day, Liz had assisted to school. She didnt know why she had done it. She could have easily convinced her parents to let her stay at home the entire day, crying her heart out. But she refused to let anyone see her defeated like that. Still, the sadness on her expression was obvious. Despite the fact that Sally and the others tried to talk with her after arriving at the school, she didnt respond and kept walking away from them.
She stopped when she spotted Peter. She just stared at him, unable to focus on anything else. She still wasnt over him, and she didnt know why. Since Peter broke up with her, she had stayed in a state of complete sadness, grief, and anger. Since he had broke up with her... that had happened.
Soon, Mary Jane walked closer to Peter. Yep, there was the anger. Liz just gave the unnoticing MJ a killing glare, mad at how much she had ruined her life, and her brother´s life. She was going to pay for this. Against her better judgement, she started to follow the couple. She knew this was wrong, pathetic, even. But she couldnt help herself. She needed to somehow... fight back. She couldnt be the only one losing everything around herself; and more importantly: she didnt want anyone else near to Peter Parker.
"So, Peter?" asked Mary Jane to Peter, "What are you reading so intensely?"
"Oh, this?" asked Peter, as he closed the book and placed it on his locker, "It´s Mister Foswell´s book."
"I thought it wouldnt be released in a few months." asked Mary Jane, curious.
"Yeah, well... since some of the pictures are mine, they gave me a copy sooner. As a deal as one of people who worked on it." explained Peter. "Aunt May has another one, and she spends all the day reading and showing it to her friends. I think that at this point, she knows more about the case than I do."
"She must be really proud." said MJ, herself quite proud of him "Looks like someone is becoming a professional already." said MJ, teasingly.
"It´s no big deal, really." shrugged off Peter.
"You are too humble, Tiger." chimed MJ, "You are good at school, good with science, good with pictures..."
"Something else you are forgetting?" asked Peter, teasingly.
"You might be a good kisser, Parker, but I´m still better than you on that." purred back MJ. Peter smirked. Liz was fuming of rage. "Anyway, I´m glad that you are credited in the book. I´m sure it will help you out a lot in the future."
"Parker? famous? Yeah, right!" said a mocking voice, coming from the hall. Flash Thompson, a tall, built young man with short blonde hair; along with Kenny Kong, an asian-american, bald bulky student, and Hobie Brown, an african-american student that had a slim yet fit figure, with his hair fashioned in dreadlocks; all of them dressed in blue jeans and the green jacket of the football team here at M3.
"It´s not about me, MJ." said Peter, while taking out various things from his locker and ignoring Flash. "We are trying to gather as many evidence as possible against Lincoln. I dont care about my references, I want that guy to spend the rest of his days on jail."
However, what Peter just said didnt sit well with someone. Just as he was passing by Peter´s side, Hobie tackled Peter with his shoulder, making his things drop. Of course, Peter detected it beforehand with his spider-sense; but he didnt because it confused him that it wasnt Flash who had done this. It was Hobie Brown. Hobie Brown!
"You had that one coming, Parker!" joked Flash, as he laughed away with his two friends. Sha Shan didnt like it when Flash bullied other people, so he used any opportunity where she wasnt with him to take the chance. Even though both Peter and Flash had somewhat befriended as of late, he still liked to shot a few jokes every once in a while. Kong was laughing after him, and Hobie just gave him a glare.
Peter, however, didnt care about Flash´s comments. The impossible had just happened. "Did Hobie Brown just bully me?" Despite being part of Flash´s group for quite a while, just like Rand, Hobie wasnt too keen on going on and pick on people. He was more interested on the benefits of being a high school football star that didnt involve tormenting the people who were lower than him on the social totem. That Hobie had resorted to that, meant something was wrong.
"I dont know what could have taken over him to do that." said Mary Jane.
"I know." said a female voice. Both turned to see Hobie´s girlfriend. Mindy. An afro-american girl, with long, brown hair tied into a high ponytail, who wore a simple pink blouse and blue jeans. "Mary Jane, Glory has told you about the neighborhood association where Hobie, Glory and me go and help almost everyday, right?"
"Yes, she has." replied Mary Jane.
"Well," said Mindy, giving a hard glare to Peter, "This group was financed by one L. Thompson Lincoln, better known as..."
"The Big Man..." said Peter, finishing her sentence as realization struck him.
"Exactly." spit back Mindy, "Since we have no funding, the whole thing might be dropped out, which means that all the young kids that we are trying to keep away from the streets and gangs wont have any place to go."
"Mindy... Peter didnt..." tried to say Mary Jane.
"Don´t say it." spit back Mindy, "Look!" she now directed herself towards Peter, "We cant change reality: the man we looked up to was a criminal, we get it. But you dont have to rub it on our face."
"That wasnt my intention." said Peter, before Mindy raised her hand to stop him.
"I dont care." she honestly replied. "All I´m asking is for you not to talk about that in front of us, okay?"
Peter was shocked. He had no idea that someone could actually admire and look up to someone like Lincoln. But then he remembered that Tombstone had tricked all of New York to believe he was an honest man for years. He just didnt think something like this could happen.
"I promise." said Peter, looking down.
"Good." said Mindy, softly this time. "Dont take it personally. Hobie has been really down because of that lately. It isnt fair for him to be reminded of that even here at school."
"It´s okay." said Peter, "I know Hobie is a good guy. I wont mention it again."
"Thanks. And again, dont take it personal, okay?" asked Mindy. Peter nodded, and Mindy turned around.
Just as she left, Peter looked down. Yet more people he loved were being hurt because of him. There simply was no winning for him, was it? Mary Jane noticed Peter, and decided to cheer him up. She leaned closer and hugged him.
"Come on, Tiger. Dont be down, it´s not your fault: Those things just happen." comforted Mary Jane.
"I know." said Peter, "I just dont like the fact that whenever something good happens, something bad is following it."
"Oh, dont be like that." said MJ, trying to comfort him. "Come one, cheer up." She started to rub and massage his chest, trying to bring him comfort. "Let me help you lighten up, okay?"
Peter couldnt help the blush. Mary Jane smiled when she saw that she had got to him. They soon hugged, and Mary Jane leaned closer. They shared a small, romantic kiss.
However, Peter´s spider-sense activated. He turned, but found anything. Weird. "Anything wrong, Tiger?"
"No, it´s just that I felt like we were being watched." explained Peter.
"There is no one there, Peter." teased Mary Jane. "Now, come on; one last kiss, okay? We are late to classes already."
Peter only smiled. He kissed her back, a bit longer this time; then they broke the kiss and went straight to classes.
Liz ran away.
She didnt care where; she only had to go somewhere else, somewhere safe. Somewhere she could hide the fact that she was becoming a monster.
Her body covered by flames, her hair turned red; yet, it didnt hurt. It was scorching part of her cheerleader uniform, however (fortunately, she had learned to always bring extra clothes). But the flames werent on her; the flames came from her.
She reached a lonely, separate corner of the school. She crouched, tears on her eyes, trying to breathe normally, to calm down. But it didnt work. It was getting worse and worse each time that this happened to her.
It all had started when Peter broke up with her: the stress, the sadness, the anger... It had awakened something on her. Something that was driving her mad.
"Please... go away... go away..." cried Liz between sobs, between her uncontrollable crying. Thinking on her parents didnt work to calm her down. After the whole incident at the Vault, thinking of Mark wouldnt work. There was only one person whose memories brought her peace.
Peter Parker.
Slowly, the flames started to die down, as her breathing estabilized and her crying stopped. Once it was all over, Liz was left with red, tired eyes; her hair a complete mess, and most of her clothes destroyed by the flames.
This was driving her insane. She couldnt stand it anymore.
"Petey... please... I need you..."
Salem Center, Wenchester County, New York State
Xavier´s School for Gifted Youngsters
A hidden room inside the mansion, where only a few had access to. A strange helmet attached to a metallic cord; a metallic cord attached to a huge computer console.
This was Cerebro. A machine designed especially to find those with a special, natent ability inside of them.
A man with fair skin, a bald head, dressed in a suit, sit in an special wheel chair; Charles Xavier, founder of the Xavier´s School for Gifted Youngsters, a place where many special people were allowed in order to develop their abilities. He placed down the helmet of Cerebro, and soon turned to the screen to see the coordinates that he had just found.
"Is there something wrong, professor?" asked a tall, young man with short, messy brown hair. Dressed on a blue, long sleeved shirt, caki pants, his most defining trait the flashy red sunglasses that covered his eyes.
"Not at all, Scott." replied the man in the wheelchair, "In fact, I believe we have found a new mutant."
TO CONTINUE...
A/N: HOLY SH*T! Guys, I have to say, this might be my favorite chapter so far. But it´s not about what I think, what did you guys think about it? As you can see, the new arc is upon us, which means a lot of angst for everyone! Yay!
Introduced quite a handful of characters into the fray, didnt I? Now, Jason Macendale jr is know in the comics for being the Hobgoblin, but we already know it isnt him. What role could he play later? And Miles Warren is back and has brought Michael Morbius into the fray. And poor, poor Liz... this is getting interesting.
Also, a lawyer-friendly cameo (get it?) from Matt Murdock, who will be important later on. Cerebro might not be as the one we know from the comics, however, back when the X-Men begam Cerebro was just a helmet plugged into a huge 70´s computer, before being upgraded into the structure we all know today. Check the first episodes of X-Men Evolution, you can see different Cerebro in there. And talking about Evolution, Scott in here looks exactly as the on in that show (Charles too).
Anyway, I really dont know what else to say, other than thanking you for reading this and remind you to leave your suggestions, comments and feedback here. See ya guys later.
