Chapter 14 – Nightmare Part 5 – When they met
Sebastian sat in his room for what seemed like an eternity, he drummed his fingers on the desk in his room, thinking about his young master, thinking about what Ciel must be going through. Could the demon imagine it? Not really.
Sebastian had experienced many mortal emotions; love, sadness, happiness, but he had never, not in his current life, or any life he had lived before he met his current master, he had never experienced fear. Oh yes, this demon was capable of being scared. It was just that nothing in his entire demonic life had ever made him scared, not even the blade of a death scythe, but what was happening to his young master terrified him, and he was scared that he was going to make it worse.
Pain and heartbreak, Ciel not letting Sebastian near him was enough to drive this demon to the verge of tears, but Sebastian Michaelis wouldn't cry, or rather couldn't cry. As soft as this once cold and heartless demon had become, he somehow couldn't bring himself to shed a tear on the situation, despite the whole of his being wanting to.
Sebastian chose this time to think back to when he and Ciel first met. A devils sacrifice… that's all Ciel was going to be in the eyes of those men and women, the ones behind that months, the ones Sebastian saved him from. Whether it was Ciel or the other, no wait… it was Ciel, he was the one who needed him the most. Ciel didn't hesitate in exchanging his soul for a chance of revenge, maybe that's what attracted the demon to his master. And Sebastian accepted that to begin with, and he was all too happy to constantly remind his master of that, but now was different, they barely mentioned revenge, maybe it was because they had a strong relationship and that it didn't need to be said, or maybe it was because the demon was secretly hoping that Ciel would never complete his revenge, then he would never have to say goodbye.
They had only known each other for about three years, but for Sebastian that seemed like an eternity, an eternity that he didn't want to end.
Sebastian stared at a spot on the wall, thinking carefully about that day, the day that he appeared in front of Ciel. He wasn't scared of him then, so it still confused Sebastian, as to why someone like Ciel was still fearing him now. He managed to push that thought aside as he thought about those first months when Ciel came back to his home. He couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of the mistakes that both he and Ciel made, then he thought about the times that Ciel would scream himself awake at night due to nightmare.
Maybe the demon liked seeing the child that the earl was show through, maybe it would be beneficial to the earl to be able to act his age, rather than his social status, for a spell at least.
Back in Ciel's bed chamber, Finnian was still trying to calm Ciel who was in the midst of having an asthma attack. Finny didn't know what to do. Did he go and call Sebastian for help, after all the butler would know what to do. No. Finny had promised his young master that he wouldn't let Sebastian near him, and Finny was going to keep that promise, well until Ciel was back to his normal self at least.
Ciel continued to cough, pretty violently, his asthma only seemed to get worse.
"Master Ciel" Finny began, "we should get you back into bed." Ciel nodded, not putting up any resistance, after all Finny was only trying to help. Ciel tried to stand up, honestly he did, unfortunately his legs were like jelly and he ended up collapsing back to the floor with a yelp, an adorable yelp, but a yelp nonetheless.
Finny gasped as he saw his master fall back to the floor. "Here" he said softly, "let me help." He added before picking Ciel up off the floor, putting a lot of effort into making sure that he didn't hurt Ciel with his strength, and carried him over to the bed, gently laying him down and tucking him in.
A small flush appeared on Ciel as Finny did that, some great master Ciel was being. "Sorry" he coughed out a little, he hated feeling like a burden, it was very much like Ciel to not want to be a burden, even when he suffered an asthma attack when he was investigating Noah's Ark Circus, and when he went got back to his town house, he refused to rest.
"Don't apologise." Finny chided lightly, that felt strange to him, chiding his master, after all Finny was used to Sebastian complaining and moaning at him and the other servants over their mishaps and cock-ups.
Ciel seemed to pout a little, after all in his eyes he was being a burden and he didn't like that, he just wanted things to go back to normal.
Finny sighed "when you're better everything will go back to normal." He said sensing what Ciel was thinking.
Ciel nodded quietly, thankfully the coughing seemed to subside at the moment, and hopefully Ciel was going to be alright.
Finny smiled a little, "why don't you sleep Master Ciel" he suggested, after all, Sebastian, or was it Mey-Rin, or was it Bard… well whoever it was that told him that, it was a good piece of advice and whether Ciel liked it or not Finny was going to make his young master abide by it.
Ciel went to argue against Finny for a brief moment, but then decided that he would do as he said and go to sleep. He rolled onto his side as he slipped into a slumber.
Finny smiled seeing that, he decided to let his master sleep and slipped out of the room, he decided to go inform Sebastian about the situation.
As Ciel drifted deeper and deeper into sleep he started to dream, though what he was dreaming about, he couldn't quite figure out at present, but there were two figures. Two figures that he recognised… his parents…?
