After after the boar attack was over, I went back to the Hermes cabin and took a nap.
I had flame jumped so many times in such a short amount time that I had completely drained myself.
I curled up into my bed and fell into a restless sleep.
I dreamt that I was standing at the mouth of an active volcano. Inside the mouth, a massive lake of lava was churning. I felt a strong pulling from inside the volcano. Before I knew what was happening, the force pulled me into the volcano. I was free falling straight towards the lake of lava.
Just before I hit the lava, a stone platform rose out of the lake and caught me. I somehow didn't hurt myself on impact, so I stood up and looked around.
I was in the center of the lake, at the edges were hundreds of different monsters. They were all starring at me.
I reached into my pocket to grab my lighter, but it wasn't there.
You won't need that, my son. I heard someone say.
Well, they didn't say it, it was a disembodied voice coming from all around me.
"Show yourself!" I shouted.
Very well.
I felt a scorching hot wind blow past me with so much force that it almost knocked me off of my stone.
The wind darkened into a storm cloud. That storm cloud then formed into a massive face with lightning striking around inside of it.
I am Typhon, father of all monsters and bane of the gods, I am your father as well.
The monsters around me roared in agreement.
You are key to my plans, therefor you will join my army and march on that pathetic camp. In return, you may rule over the survivors.
"Why should I do anything for you? You've never cared about me."
You don't understand. I've always been with you. Teaching you, molding you, guiding you. Even today I was with you when you fought the boar.
"Even if that was true, what makes you think I'm so important for your army?"
You'll find out tonight. It should be rather eventful. Go to Central Park, Tammi will pick you up there.
Again I said nothing.
Soon, my son, we will both have our revenge, me on the gods and you on their children.
"Why would I want revenge on them? They haven't done anything to me." I said.
Not yet.
I felt my body being pulled up. Suddenly, I was pulled out of the volcano and was flying across the landscape at an amazing speed. I continued to build up speed until everything became a blur of colors. I started slowing down when I reached the camp, but didn't slow down enough. I floated through the wall of the Hermes cabin and slammed into my actual body with enough force to knock myself to the floor.
I hit the floor with a loud thud that startled the other people in the cabin.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty. How was your nap?" Asked Travis.
"I've had better." I groaned as I stood up.
"Well, suit up. We've got a flag to capture." He said.
"Is it already time?"
"Yeah."
I groaned again as I picked up a breast plate and strapped myself in.
I walked out of the cabin ready for the game when a red headed girl ran up to me.
"Jake Fuller?" She asked.
"Yes?" I said.
She rose off the ground and her eyes started glowing green while mist the same color poured out of her mouth. For the second time that day, I heard a voice speak from nowhere.
A single sentence sparks the hate.
That leads the monster to his fate.
In your search for revenge.
One of your friends will meet their end.
In a fiery rage.
We see the camp razed.
Although it leaves the camp destroyed.
All survivors will be overjoyed.
The mist disappeared and the glowing stopped. The girl fell to her knees, out of breath.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Did you hear all of that?" She said.
"Yeah, what was it?" I asked.
"A prophecy about you." She said, gravely.
"About me?" I asked in disbelief. "But that was about killing everyone, burning the camp down, and revenge!"
"Prophecies are usually misguiding, but do not try to avoid it." She said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Bad things happen when you try to avoid a prophecy. But I really need to go right now. I talk to you after capture the flag, okay?" She said as she turned around and ran off before I even had time to respond.
I tried for forget about the prophecy, but I couldn't. It kept repeating itself in my head so I went over to Percy.
"What's the teams for tonight?" I asked him, still trying to distract myself.
"Camp Half Blood against the hunters." He said.
"That seems a bit unfair. We've got them outnumbered pretty bad." I said.
"Trust me." He said. "They don't need any more than they already have. We've never beaten them before."
"So what's the strategy?" I asked.
"Talk to Annabeth. I think she's going to want you on the front lines." He said.
"Alright." I said as I walked off.
Annabeth was at a planning table surrounded by her siblings.
"Jake! Perfect!" She said.
"Percy said you might need me?" I asked.
"Yes, you're going to lead a team behind enemy lines to get the flag."
"That didn't work so well last time." I said skeptically.
"Last time you only had two other people, this time you'll have ten. Five from the Apollo cabin and five from the Ares cabin."
"Annabeth!" One of her brothers said. "That'll never work! They hate each other. Remember?"
"Yes, but they hate the hunters even more. Remember that?" She said.
Her brother groaned and walked off.
"So why me?" I asked.
"You hunt back home, right?" She asked.
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"When you stalk your prey, what's the most important thing to do?" She asked.
"Don't let it see you?" I offered.
"Exactly. That's what the hunter do. They see us before we see them, so we never have a chance to fight them." She explained. "But you don't need to see to fight."
"So, you want me to guide the team behind enemy lines, sniffing out any hunter along the way and giving the group plenty of warning when I do find one, retrieve the flag and bring it back." I said.
Annabeth smiled.
"You guessed it." She said.
"So what's the catch?" I asked.
"The Ares kids and the Apollo kids don't always work well together." She sighed.
"Can't we substitute one of the cabins?"
"Evidently, no. I need all the other cabins in different places. The only other option would be to send the Aphrodite cabin."
"I'll work with what I've got." I said.
She laughed.
"Good choice."
My team consisted of five kids from the Ares cabin and five kids from the Apollo cabin. They were all standing in two groups, collectively glaring at the other group, except for Zach who stood with one of the groups, looking at the ground.
"Okay." I said to both groups. "I'm Jake, who are y'all?"
A boy with dark brown hair and brown eyes stepped froward.
"I'm Freddy, son of Apollo." He said.
Another boy stepped up, this one had long blonde hair, blue eyes, and was extremely tan, like a surfer.
"Keith." He said. "Son of Apollo."
A really skinny boy with soft brown hair and bright blue eyes stepped forward.
"My name's Mitchell." He said. "Son of Apollo."
A girl with dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes smiled from the back and waved.
"Kayla, daughter of Apollo." She said.
Will Solace then walked up to me.
"You already know who I am!" He said warmly.
A large girl stringy brown hair and brown eyes proudly stepped up.
"Clarisse La Rue. Daughter of Ares, counselor of the Ares cabin, and the Drakon Slayer." She said pridefully.
A boy stepped forward, like his sister he had brown hair and brown eyes.
"Sherman." He said.
The third and largest of the the group stepped froward. He had black hair and brown eyes with a slight red tint.
"Craig." He said.
Another boy stepped forward, this one, like the other two, had brown hair and brown eyes.
"Brandon." He said.
"And I already know Zach." I said. "Now, we stick together and do this as a team, got it?"
The group didn't react.
"I'll take that as a yes." I said.
When the conch sounded I led the group across the border and around the main battle, making sure to sniff the air periodically.
We were walking through a heavily forested area when I caught a whiff of grapes. I didn't know much about the leading agriculture exports of Long Island, New York, but I knew that the camp grew strawberries, not grapes.
I stopped and held up my hand, signaling the rest of the group to do the same.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in through my nose. The source of the grapes was coming from a small figure in a pine tree ahead of us.
"Will." I whispered.
"Yeah?" He asked.
"Pine tree, three o'clock, upper left branches, use a blunt arrow." I whispered without moving a muscle.
He quickly nocked a blunt arrow and fired at the location I had given him.
We heard a girl yelp in pain and saw her fall out of the tree.
"Nice shot." Said Zach.
His siblings starred at him in anger.
"Um, thanks." Said Will.
At that moment the girl from the tree lunged at the group with a large hunting knife. She slashed at Keith, but he managed to jump away. The girl simply planted her foot and judo kicked him with her other. Keith was knocked to the ground.
She then stabbed at Sherman, but he caught her wrist. The girl then grabbed his wrist with her free hand and flipped him, slamming him onto the ground.
She then slashed at Zach but Zach sidestepped the attack and drew his sword. The girl quickly planted her foot and slashed at him again. Zach parried the attack and slashed at the girl. She leapt away.
While she was still off balance, I ran straight at her, tackling her to the ground.
I had her pinned to the ground, but she kept kicking and screaming, so I covered her mouth with my hand. Then she bit me.
"Bite all you want, princess, I'll bite you right back." I said.
She stopped biting and looked up at me with hatred.
It was the first good look I got at her, she had curly black hair and purple eyes that darted around in a schizophrenic way.
"Someone get a rope and tie her up." I said.
Mitchell pulled a rope out of his bag and tied her to a tree. Once he was finished, I walked over to her.
"Okay, so where's your flag." I asked.
"Like I'd ever tell you!" She said angrily.
"And why is that?" I asked.
"Because your a filthy pig!" She screamed.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"She's a hunter." Said Kayla as she walked up behind me. "They hate men in general."
"Oh! I understand. Would you rather speak to Kayla, here?" I asked the girl.
She remained silent.
I sighed and walked away, leaving Kayla to talk to her.
About five minutes passed before Kayla came back.
"It's over by Zeus's fist. They have five people guarding it." She reported.
"It took you five minutes to figure that out?" I asked.
"She kept asking me to join the hunters, but personally, I rather enjoy the company of a man."
"Weird way of phrasing that, but okay!" I said. "Craig, Freddy, you're going to make sure that the prisoner stays a prisoner. Got it?"
They nodded.
"So who knows the way to Zeus' fist?" I asked.
"I do." Said Clarisse.
"Perfect, lead the way." I said.
Clarisse lead us through the woods. We only encountered one other hunter and dealt with her the same way. This time we left Keith and Brandon to guard her.
That left us with Clarisse, Sherman, Zach, Will, Kayla, and Mitchell.
We got to Zeus's fist which turned out to be the rock pile where Madison and I hung out at. The flag was on a pole on top of the rock pile. The group stayed behind some bushes at the edge of the clearing.
I sniffed the air and got the scent of five demigods, each in a different tree.
"There's five hunters and we only have three archers." I whispered.
"You can flame jump into one of the trees and take one of them out, but it's almost dark and that'll give off light." Said Zach.
"If we shoot as soon as you finish the jump, that'll only leave one." Said Mitchell.
"But we could barely handle one. Now there's five." Said Clarisse.
"What if you took one hostage?" Asked Sherman. "They're really close to each other, so lets use that against them."
"Good idea." I said.
I pointed out the trees that they were in and the tree I'd be jumping to.
Everyone slowly moved around the clearing, surrounding it. I pulled out my lighter and flicked it open. It grew into the blade that fit perfectly in my hand.
I flame jumped into the tree that held a hunter and grabbed her before flame jumping to the top of the rock pile. I placed the blade of my sword to her throat and held her there.
"Okay hunters, time to come out into the open." I said.
Three girls jumped out of their trees.
"All of you." I said.
Thalia jumped out of the last tree.
"Not bad." She said.
"Okay, guys, move in with caution." I said.
The group slowly emerged from their hiding places and tied the hunters to some trees.
"Sherman and Kayla are standing guard. Everyone else is coming with me." I said as I picked up the flag.
Clarisse, Will, Zach, Mitchell, and I all started walking though the woods towards the border.
Everything was going perfectly, we were about a mile from the border and I didn't smell a single hunter.
Evidently, the hunters had gotten cleaver.
We were walking through a rather muddy area when Will suddenly fell.
At first I thought nothing of it, but then I saw the hand that had grabbed his ankle.
All around us, figures rose from the mud and aimed arrows at us.
One of them stepped forward and wiped her face off. It was the first hunter we'd seen.
"What?" I asked in amazement. "What did you do to Craig and Freddy?"
"Oh they're a bit tied up at the moment." She said.
"Oh, very original. That pun was just amazing. Truly, I applaud you." I said sarcastically as I quietly clapped.
One of the hunters behind her giggled.
"It doesn't matter!" She snapped. "We have you and therefor, we have our flag."
"Do you now?" I asked.
"Your completely surrounded and none of your allies know where you are." She said confidently.
"Y'll ready for a fight?" I asked my team.
Clarisse drew her sword, Will nocked an arrow, and Mitchell pulled two knives from his belt.
"Good, because Zach and I really need to get going." I said warmly.
"Just where do you think you're going?" The girl asked smugly.
"Across the border." I said as I grabbed Zach's shoulder and flame jumped away.
I had jumped us about one hundred feet from border.
"Should we worry about them?" Asked Zach.
"They'll be fine." I said. "Besides, were about to win."
We started walking towards the border when I saw one of the hunters running with our flag at full speed. About six campers were chasing her shouting insults in a mix of English and Greek.
I took off sprinting toward the border at full speed. The hunter noticed me and started running even faster.
I crossed the border at the exact moment as the hunter did. Both of our flags changed colors.
The conch sounded and the game was over.
Chiron then galloped up and starred at me for a moment before starring at the hunter.
"This hasn't ever happened before." Said Chiron.
"So who won?" Asked a hunter.
"I think it's a draw." Said Chiron.
There was an awkward silence for a moment before the camp started cheering. It caught me off guard, especially when they swarmed me, slapping me on the back and congratulating me.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked the group in shock. "We didn't win."
"We came closer than ever before though!" One of the campers shouted.
"And it's all thanks to Jake!" Another yelled.
The camp shouted again and for the first time in my life, I felt truly wanted. It felt great, but it was short lived.
I was leading everyone towards the camp fire when someone threw a rock at me. It hit me in the left shoulder and cut it open.
I looked over and saw a boy running at me. He was a pretty boy with a perfect face, perfect teeth, and perfect hair. When he got to me, he slugged me in the face. I staggered back but he didn't let up. He swung at me again but I sidestepped his attack. He stumbled past me but spun around and took up an offensive stance.
"What the hell is your problem?" I shouted.
"Bastard!" He yelled in response as he drew a knife and slashed at me.
Instincts took over and I grabbed his wrist and twisted it at an awkward angle, breaking it. I then threw him onto the ground.
He stood up, holding his broken wrist, and spit in my direction.
"Seriously, dude!" I yelled. "What did I do to you?"
"Like you don't know!" He yelled. "Maybe you should tell your new friends what you did!"
"I really have no idea what your talking about." I said.
"Liar!" He screamed with building anger. "Tell them or I will!"
"I don't know what you want me to say!"
"Fine! Jake Fuller raped my sister!" He shouted to the crowd.
A murmur swept through the crowd.
"That's impossible." Said Zach as he stepped forward. "I was with Jake the entire time."
"So you're Zach Morris?" The boy asked. "Zach helped him!"
Again the crowd murmured.
"I did no such thing!" I yelled at the boy. "I don't even know who your sister is!"
"Drew Tanaka!" He yelled.
"Her?" I asked in confusion. "Why the hell would I rape her?"
"Now you're insulting her?" The boy asked in anger.
"Where are you even getting your information from?" I asked.
"Drew herself!"
"And where is she now?"
"Like I'd tell you! You've done enough." He growled.
That's when Chiron galloped up.
"What's going on here?" He demanded.
"Jake raped Drew!" The boy shouted.
The outburst caught Chiron off guard.
"Bull shit!" I yelled.
"Enough!" Chiron boomed. "That's a big accusation, Eric. I'm afraid I'll need to speak with Drew."
The boy, apparently named Eric, didn't say anything for a moment.
"Okay, she's at our cabin." He finally said.
Chiron then lead the entire group to the Aphrodite cabin. Sitting on the porch was Drew, crying her eyes out with all of her siblings trying to comfort her.
She looked up at me and started freaking out. She screamed like a maniac and kicked away from me.
"No!" She screamed. "Please no more! Please!"
Chiron stepped up and gently took her hand.
"It's okay, my dear." He said calmly. "We won't let anything happen, I promise."
She calmed down but kept watching me.
"Now, I know that this is hard for you, but can you tell me what happened?" He asked her.
"I'll try." She whispered. "I got separated from my group and was walking through the woods, trying to find my way back to our side of the border. That's when Jake and Zach showed up in a burst of fire. We starred at each other for a minute then I asked if they knew the way back to our side. They looked at each other before Jake said that he'd show me the way back if I "payed a little toll." Then he started moving in while Zach turned around and stood watch. Then he... he raped me."
She then burst into tears. I looked at the faces of the other campers. Some had a look of pity, others had a look of fear, but most were painted with hatred.
"You dare steal this madden's honor?" A hunter shouted as she nocked an arrow and fired it at me.
I jumped out of the way of the arrow just before it impaled me.
The other hunters started shouting along with some of the campers. They all started throwing things at me and Zach. Most of the projectiles were lethal.
After a while, an arrow grazed my left arm, cutting it badly.
I grabbed the wound to stop the bleeding and looked up. The crowd was now an angry mob, intent on killing me and Zach.
"Stop!" Chiron yelled in a voice so loud that it rattled my teeth. "We aren't savages and we will not stone these boys to death! The situation, however, will be dealt with!"
He then turned to me and Zach.
"Jake Fuller and Zach Morris, for the crime of rape and accessory to rape, I herby banish both of you from Camp Half Blood forever! If you return, do so at your own risk, all campers will be instructed to kill on sight!"
"Chiron!" I pleaded. "There's no evidence! Plus we'd die within minutes of leaving the camp!"
"Then pray that the fates are kind to you." He said coldly. "You have ten minutes to pack up anything you own. Any later, and you will be killed."
I glared at the crowd for a moment before walking to the Hermes cabin to pack a bag.
A/N: What? Jake? A rapist?! Or is Drew even telling the truth? And if she isn't, will the other campers find out? Where will Jake and Zach go now? Will they even survive? These are all good questions... I should probably make up some answers.
Anyways! It's funny how you discover things about yourself when you write, things you would have never thought about before.
For example: today I learned that I suck at coming up with prophecies. Who'd have thunk?
Once again, reviews are loved, so review the story! Plus, the more reviews I get, the more obligated I'll feel to update the story.
Oh! One more thing! Mitchell from this chapter is an OC from the mind of Venus De Milo XD. I decided that I like incorporating your OCs into my story, so PM me if you have any ideas! I'll try to add them into the story, but I can't guarantee that they'll live to the end.
