Elizabeth was sound asleep when she heard Stefan next to her practically shouting into the phone. "What the hell do you mean you took Elena to New York?"
"Relax," Damon scoffed at the other end. "I just brought her here so that she could have a little bit of fun. And while she's getting high on booze and blood I'll use that time to search for Miss Pierce."
"Fun?" Stefan snapped. "She's ruthless without her humanity. If she finds out that you're searching for the cure against her will, she'll bolt."
"She won't, Stefan," he said as he noticed Elena coming his way, her hair now had red streaks. "See you later and remember, you have the immortal Silas to think about."
Stefan sighed as he closed his phone. He wrapped his arms around Elizabeth's waist, but she pulled away and without looking at him she stared putting on her skirt and sweater.
Stefan looked at her confused. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going home. To take a shower." She gritted her teeth trying to hide her annoyance. Did Stefan really have to worry about Elena every five seconds? She'd had hope that after Elena choose Damon that Stefan would finally let her go, apparently that was not the case. Boys really were gluttons for punishment.
Stefan looked at her amused. "You apartment is twenty miles away. Just take a shower here."
"I'll go to Rebekah's some of my clothes are still there." She managed a strain smile as she kissed him goodbye.
Elizabeth was just stepping out of the bathroom when Rebekah appeared in one of the guests rooms. She gave a little jump. "What are you doing here?"
"It's my house," she offered a little smile. "What no hot water at the Salvatore estate? I'm seeing Stefan was successful in rescuing you?"
"Very successful," she started drying her hair with a towel. "As for the first question-"
"Let me guess, Elena?"
"How did-"
"Wild guess, especially with her no humanity she's a real pain in the ass," she put a reassuring hand on her younger sister's shoulder. "No matter what she says, don't believe any of it, Elizabeth. Don't let your insecurities and doubts get in the way of you and Stefan's love."
Elizabeth threw her a reassuring smile. "Thanks, Rebekah. Where are you going anyway?"
"New York." She rolled her eyes. "Damon went to get a head start on that cure and I'm not letting him have it."
"What do you want with the cure?"
"I want to be human again, Beth."
Elizabeth looked back startled. "That's news to me, can I ask why?"
Rebekah smiled, almost shyly. "I want to grow old and have a family. Be with someone who truly loves me and cares for me. I want to live every day like it matters. I don't want to live in fear anymore. I want to be happy."
"I hope you get it, Becks," she hugged her sister. "And I'm really, really sorry that I let Klaus dagger you in the twenties. I was a coward and I'm sorry."
Rebekah smiled. "Hopefully, this time all of us will get our happy ending."
"Caroline, Stefan, baby sister what a . . . unusual trio," Klaus smirked as he sat in on of the vintage couches at the Salvatore estate. "It is rather unexpected that you ask for my help."
"Nik, do you know about Silas?" Elizabeth asked.
Klaus leaned back in his chair. "Ah, the famous Silas. What about him?"
"He wants to destroy the other side and take the cure so that he can be reunited with his one true love."
Klaus smirked. "And I should care because-"
"Because then every supernatural creature that once died will come back to life," Caroline scowled. "Think how much fun that will be, you mom, your dad, your lunatic brothers-"
Stefan cut her off. "The thing is, Silas already has completed two of the massacres and we need to find him before he finds the third one."
"Are you sure, Bonnie is here?" Elizabeth flashed a flashlight into the clearing of the words in hope to see a group of witches. "It's too quiet."
"That's why we decided to break up into two groups, you and me and Klaus and Caroline."
"I still can't believe Caroline actually went with my brother."
"It's for the best and besides, Caroline doesn't trust Klaus when it comes to Bonnie," Stefan suddenly used his vampire speed to get into the middle of a circle of witches. "Stop, it's not what you think."
"Get out of here vampires," Aja hissed at Elizabeth.
"You can't do this, please Silas will kill us all." She tried pleading with them. Aja raised her finger and Elizabeth and Stefan fell on the floor screaming in pain. Klaus and Caroline appeared besides them.
"They're linked, Bonnie's going to kill them."
"Not if the witches kill her first." Klaus snapped.
"Klaus, we need to stop them." Caroline said.
"How?" he growled. "If we kill the witches then Silas gets what he wants."
"Spirits take her soul, free her from darkness." Aja chanted as she raised the dagger on top of Bonnie.
Bonnie let out a scream and Caroline grabbed the dagger from Aja and stabbed her in the heart. The witches around her fell death.
"No!" Klaus screamed.
Caroline ignored him. "Bonnie, Bonnie are you ok?"
"The triangle is complete." Bonnie murmured.
"Here," Stefan handed her a cup of tea. "This will help."
Elizabeth smiled at him. "Thanks," she paused. "Are you worried?"
Stefan sighed. "About Silas? It's hard not to, especially since he has everything he needs."
Elizabeth squeezed his hand and gave him a reassuring smile. "We'll get through this, somehow and after this is over, maybe we can-"
She was interrupted by Stefan's phone. "Hello?" he answered.
"She's gone!" Damon yelled on the other side. "Elena and Rebekah broke my neck and took my car."
"Where are they now?"
"I don't know! That's why I need your to come to New York soon."
"I'll be there."
Elizabeth scoffed. "Unbelievable."
Stefan frowned. "Why are you so upset?"
"It's just I can't believe this. Elena breaks your heart and treats you like crap, yet the minute she whistles you go running after her. I thought Damon was the boyfriend, the idiot who forced her to turned off her humanity because little Miss Gilbert couldn't handle it. Why do you have to get involved?"
"Because she's not the Elena I remember, Elizabeth," he said frustrated. "She's a monster and even though we're not dating anymore, I owe it to her to make things right. Please understand, Elizabeth."
"Right," she said sarcastically. "So is this how it's going to be? Five years from now? Fifty? What if we're still together by then? If at any point in your life Elena wants you to come back, will you? I need to ask you, Stefan who is it going to be, me or her? Because you can only there for one."
Stefan didn't answer.
Elizabeth looked at him, crestfallen. "I guess there's my answer."
