Chapter 14

No one's POV

Shun was pacing in his room, looking deep in thought. Alice, on the other hand, was smiling. She was really happy that she can call someone as a 'Mom'. She sat on the bed silently, still smiling to herself, when Shun glanced at her. She was holding the fluffy pillow between her arms and her loose t-shirt was…... still misplaced… He looked aside and sighed.

"Shun?" called Alice which cause him to look at her. "Kazami-san is really nice. I'm really really happy to meet her! You're very lucky to have her…" she said and smiled at him, her eyes sparkling with happiness.

Shun couldn't help but smile at her a little. 'Lucky, indeed…' he thought. "Alice? Did you…" started Shun but was cut off by his door opening.

"I'm back~!" said Shiori, holding some clothes in her hands. She glanced between Shun and then Alice and noticed that Alice sat on the bed while Shun on the couch. She sighed, almost disappointed. "So… Nothing happened…?" which earned a "MOM!" from Shun. She laughed.

Shun's POV

'Seriously! What was she expecting to have happened in such a short time? Well, I was not gonna do anything anyway… Mom and her matchmaking schemes…'. She has always been trying to set me up with girls and she succeeded four times to send me on a date! … And I always have to run from them literally! Now that I think about it, why do they have to be so clingy and… flirting?... Who cares…

It seems like she likes Alice. Well, I never seen her talk like this with any other girls before, she seems happy… It's a good thing as long as she keeps her match making skills in check.

"See, Alice! It'll look good on you! Go take a bath and change!" exclaimed Shiori and pushed Alice in the bathroom. Alice obeyed as she was told and went in the bathroom. "There's everything you need inside" she added in the end. I sighed as she turned and sat on the chair beside bed, folding her hands. 'Here we go…'

So, I told mom everything from my "fateful" meeting with Alice till yesterday, till we entered my room. Well… I skipped the part where I slipped and fell in the lake… and from last night…when she hugged me… That aside, Mom had a curious look on her face the whole time. "… And so here we are…" I finished.

No one's POV

There was silence for few moments except for the running shower. "Wow… its fate that you met her!" exclaimed Shiori and smiled at Shun. Shun shook his head. 'I knew it…' he thought and sighed.

"Are you skipping something?" asked Shiori, raising her eyebrows. Shun blinked. "I mean… Did something happen…? Something…? Anything…?" she continued, hopeful look on her face.

Shun's eyebrow twitched at his mother's questions, as he realized what his mother was thinking. 'She's watching too much soap operas! And how did she always guess something might have happened…? Anyway…' thought Shun and sighed. He kept his plain look and tried not to remember 'the hug' from last night.

"Nothing happen! We were tired so we went to sleep a.s.a.p.!" said Shun, keeping his voice in check. Shiori smiled slyly at his answer. So he continued, "Alice on bed and me, on couch!". He folded his arms and sweatdropped, looking aside.

"Are you sure…?" Shiori tried again, but Shun looked at her tiredly. She said, "Okay! You're too modest to do anything anyway… Boring~!".

Shun didn't know if it was compliment or insult, but he didn't ask. Shiori continued, smiling, "I like her. I can tell she's different… It's sad to hear that she has lost her parents" she finished sadly and sighed. Suddenly, she exclaimed, "She can stay here. I don't mind!"

"She's staying at her house in care of K-san… She told me. And no, I haven't met him…" said Shun, thinking over, answering his mother's unasked question about who this 'K-san' is. He continued, "I have to text Dan about today!" and snatched phone from his desk, which he had put on the charger before he went to bath.

Shiori smiled. "You seem to care for her…" she said. "Ofcourse! She's my friend" said Shun and smiled a little. Shiori closed her eyes, thinking 'I didn't mean it that way… But it's good enough for now'

They both looked at bathroom door as Alice came out. "See! You look beautiful my dear! Right, Shun?" asked Shiori, smiling. Alice couldn't help but blush at the compliment. "T…thank you!" she said, looking at Shiori.

"Umm… Yeah… good…" Shun said as he looked at Alice and then looked at his phone typing something… Shiori could tell that he was pretending and sweatdropped at her son. 'Can't even give a compliment…' she thought.

Alice was wearing a mint green blouse with loose short sleeves having a round neck with a small white lace in the front and a plain white skirt which reached just below her knees. Her hair was left down on her back.

That's when Shun's cell phone started ringing and he excused himself, walking towards the terrace of his room, leaving both the females to talk. But he failed to hear that his mother invited Alice to their party… And when he came back, he had a bewildered look on his face. Well, the reason… His room was now empty. He muttered, "Where did they go?!"

Shun dashed through the hallway. He had assumption that where they could've gone… And he was right! He finally found them in the kitchen. He stood at the kitchen door and sighed relieved. But soon, he almost had a heart attack when he saw that they were sitting with his grandfather… And they were laughing! What surprised him the most that his grandfather was also laughing with them! 'Am I dreaming…?' he thought.

"Shun? You're late today" said his grandfather. Shun saw that all three of them were looking at him. He cleared his throat and said, "Uh… yes… Sorry, Grandpa" and went towards the dining table, silently. 'Grandpa is not shouting at me…?' he thought.

"Well, Alice, have some breakfast and we'll talk later" said Shun's grandfather as he stood up. "You too, Shun" he continued as Shun just nodded. Shun released a breath he doesn't even know he was holding for some time now after his grandpa left.

Shun glanced at his mother. She has already resumed talking with Alice while Alice eating her food but listening to Shiori. He sighed and started eating his breakfast, thinking 'What were they laughing about anyway…'

"Shun, are you going to office?" asked Shiori, looking at Shun who was drinking water. "Yes, mom. I have a meeting to attend but I'll be free from afternoon" said Shun as he finished his breakfast.

"Okay! Don't worry about Alice! She'll be with me helping in preparation!" exclaimed Shiori, obviously happy at the moment. Shun raised an eyebrow at that.

"But aren't you going home? What about…" he said looking at Alice but "Oh that! Why don't you leave a message, Alice? And if your guardian is not busy, invite them as well!" said Shiori interrupting Shun. Shun just sighed and handed Alice his cell phone.

"Why isn't Grandpa angry, mom? I mean…." asked Shun as he glanced at Alice who was talking on the phone. "Ah, it's a secret" said Shiori and winked. Shun sweatdropped.

"But he seems happy to meet her… I wonder why... Anyway, isn't it great that she's the reason Papa laughed today?!" she continued, smiling.

Shun looked at her curiously and asked, "Yeah… What was the reason anyway?" and raised his eyebrows. Shiori smirked and answered, "ofcourse, we were talking about you! You skipped some details like, slipping and falling in lake…"

"Okay! I get it! I'll be in my room" he said and left to get ready for office not before glaring at Alice. Shiori laughed at that. 'They'll look so cute~! There's only one problem though…' she thought.

Meanwhile…

"I should look great, no… I should look excellent! Do you get it?" said Fabia, looking at her maids. As Kazami's and Sheen's are business acquaintances', they were also invited, much to Shun's dismay. The maids nodded at her, "Yes, Ma'am!"

"Good. Now get to work!" she continued as the maids started preparing her kimono and accessories. She crossed her legs, shifting her silk gown and sipped her tea. 'I cannot lose this chance! I'll make you like me, Shun!' she thought and smirked.
