I have changed, I have changed

"It's over, I'm here." The words resounded throughout his mind. She was really back, she was here. They had stayed wrapped in each other's arms, as if letting go would make the other disappear for good. They stayed like that for hours, before Jace pulled back slightly, a colour dancing at the edges of his vision. "Clary," he breathed, his voice finally stabilizing. "Your runes." He gestured with one hand at the now gold runes decorating her body. She gasped as she saw what he was looking at. "How?" She whispered as her own hand traced the golden markings with awe.

"Ithuriel had gold runes and the legends say that Raziel has them too. Does this mean-" Jace didn't bother to finish his sentence; they both knew where his train of thought was heading. "We'll figure it out, together." She pulled him back against her, her head finding the perfect spot n his shoulder. Jace was content to stay like that for hours.

Just like you, just like you
For how long, for how long must I wait?

But at long last, Clary untangled herself from Jace. His hands stayed attached to her, confusion plastered on his face. "Where are you going?"

"The others don't know. I have to tell them, let them know that I'm alive." Jace pouted, as she began moving away from him and closer to the door.
"Do you have to?" He whined, trying to stay wrapped up with her. He couldn't leave her alone, not now not ever. He wouldn't lose her again.
"I never said that you couldn't come too."

I know there's something wrong
Your concrete heart isn't beating

Jace smiled at her words, before a slight grimace of pain dashed across his features. She noticed immediately. "Jace?" She called, her voice wavering as she rediscovered the feeling of worry.
"I'm fine." He assured as the pain bled away. It wasn't enough to warrant any concern, it was probably just his body still processing what was right in front of him. He had been through a lot in the last few days and he knew that they weren't out of the woods yet. Not until they had dealt with Sebastian once and for all.

And I've tried to make it come alive
No shadows, just red lights

"Are you sure?" Clary questioned and Jace felt a pang of guilt. She had risen from the dead, and it was still about himself. What kind of a boyfriend was he?

"I'm fine. It was probably just my body adjusting to everything that happened. "Are you okay?"
"Yes. I am now that I'm with you." Jace wrapped one arm around her waist as they left his room and began to look for their friends.

Now I'm here to rescue you
Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive

They had barely left the room when Jace's name was screamed. "JACE!" Isabelle and Alec were running down the hallway. "Oh my gosh, Jace. We were so worried!" Isabelle cried as she, unknowingly, ripped Jace away from Clary and into a bone-crushing hug. "We thought you might have done something." She didn't need to explain what the something was. They all knew, even Clary.

"Iz, I'm fine. Great even, look." He pulled away from her hug and moved aside so she and Alec could still his angel. "CLARY!" They both tackled her and Jace to the ground. Tears were shed and hands shook, as the girls gripped onto each other like they might never see each other again.

I cannot apologize, no
Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive

Shortly after, the boys had helped them up, Izzy springing into a million questions. "How are you alive? When did you wake up? Why didn't you find us first? Were you ever really dead? And-" Clary cut Isabelle off.

"I don't know how I'm alive. My runes are a different colour but aside from that, I'm not sure. I woke a little while ago and I knew that I had to see Jace first. He was the only one on my mind." Clary answered sheepishly, blush creeping up her cheeks as she glanced at Jace. "For your last question, I guess I was. I don't remember anything but I'm assuming you guys thought I was dead."

So silent, no violence
But inside my head so loud and clear

That was how the afternoon progressed, with Clary answering questions she didn't have the answers to and then having to repeat everything when Simon showed up. But she was happy, a smile never left her face and that was all that mattered to Jace. Except he had this ringing in his head, giving him a splitting headache. He tried to ignore it, for Clary. But it progressively got stronger and stronger. If he listened closely, he would hear his name being called, but it was too far away.

You're screaming, you're screaming
Covered up with a smile I've learned to fear

After they had finished their emotional reunion, they decided to go out to lunch. As they were waiting for Isabelle to get ready, Simon and Clary had a moment to catch up with each other. "So wait, you proposed to Isabelle?" Simon nodded, thankful that being a vampire meant he couldn't blush anymore. "Oh my gosh! Simon! That's amazing! I'm so happy for you two!" Simon smiled and dragged his best friend into a hug.

Just sunshine and blue sky
Is this is all we get for living here?

The group made their way to a random cafe, Neon Relic, completely forgetting about the funeral they were supposed to attend. As they reached the cafe, movement from the nearby alley caught Jace's attention.

"Shit." Jace cursed as they turned around and saw Lilith accompanied by Sebastian. "Go, run." He cried out to Clary but she didn't. Jace couldn't understand why she was still standing there. Her life was in danger, she needed to run. "WATCH OUT!" Isabelle yelled as demons appeared in the front of the five of them. "CATCH!" Both he and Clary caught the seraph blades that Isabelle tossed their way.

Come fire, come fire
Let it burn and love come racing through

Just then a demon came up and swung his claws. The claws narrowly missed Jace but swung the seraph blade against the wall. "Shit!" He grabbed another seraph blade and decapitated the demon before stabbing it's heart. Jace didn't have time to stand around and watch the demon disappear because Clary was in danger.

He heard a whimper and turned around to see Sebastian holding Clary. Not again. He heard her whimper again and realized that Sebastian was going to take her somewhere. "Clarissa, Jonathan what is this, the meeting of those on our second life. I mean you killed me, I came back. Father killed you, you came back. I killed Clarissa, and now here she is." He was making a joke out of this. Jace was enraged. But something else caught his eye; there was a golden glow coming from Clary.

Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no

Wings unfurled from her back as her runes glowed as bright as the sun, blinding everyone. Jace grimaced as the sharp pain from before reared its ugly head, once more. But this time, it hurt so much that it knocked him to his knees. "Jace!" He heard Clary's voice, frantic and terrified. He desired nothing more than to comfort her and let her know that he was fine. No words left his mouth as he fell unconscious, all sight and the world leaving him to the dark abyss.

I've learned to lose, I've learned to win
I turn my face against the wind

I will move fast, I will move slow
Take me where I have to go
Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no
I'm still alive
Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no (Still Alive by Lisa Miskovsky)
