Hello guys, I have had a day off today and no plans so I have been on a little bit of a writing role! I really want to get this story finished because I am so excited to start on the second season now! I would also love it if you could go and check out my new story, a little one shot after season 2. Please let me know what you think, my whole motivation to finish this story is coming from a wonderful guest reviewer and I would love to know how the rest of you are finding it. Warning this is a bit of a soppy one but I am going to bring back a jealous Caleb/ Cornelia in the next one I think! Much love! Set in episode 18, get reading and watching!

They were going to a dance. She had asked him to a dance, in the bluntest way possible but he imagined that she had wanted him to make the move. Not that he even knows that there was a dance or how to ask her to go. If he knew that was an Earth thing of course he would have asked. In fact, he would have been dying to ask. In Meridian dances are a big deal, the only one he ever went to was when he had been a small boy and he had spent the whole night outside with his friends. His father on the other hand had spent the night dancing away. His father had been the exception to the rule that a man must ask a date. He went alone. When Caleb was thirteen there had been no more dances. Phobos had become a cruel ruler the year before and already he was beginning his involvement in the rebellion, though he wouldn't fight for another year (or meet the guardians for at least another three) his life had been taken over by how to use weapons. Dancing had been the last thing on his mind. Until one day his father sat him down for a talk. His father told him that one day he may fall in love, that good will always beat evil and he talked to him about dances. Dances used to be incredibly important in Meridian courting and his father hoped that one day they could be again and Caleb would be able to go to the many dances with the one he loved. He gave him direction on the formal Meridian dances. Caleb had no idea if dances where as much of a deal on Earth as they were in Meridian, he imagined they weren't and the thought relieved him. He would be a lot more nervous about taking Cornelia if that was the case. He still wished however that he had been the one to ask and he wished his father was here to give him advice on the dance. He had lost his father the year after that conversation.

Caleb did the next best thing, he went to Haylin for advice. Seeing as he saw her as almost a sister he imagined she would be true in helping him. As soon as he approached her she grabbed his hand and bounded down the silver dragon stares.

"Ok, I know you don't always like what I design but I knew that one way or another you and Corny would end up going to this dance together so I made you an outfit! It's nothing fancy and not too different to your normal clothes. But yeah try it on!"

Hesitantly Caleb took the outfit and tried it on and she was right it was basically his normal clothes but a deeper t-shirt and a leather jacket. He had to admit he liked it.

"Thanks Hay, it's perfect."

She filled him in on all the expectations of the night and it turned out the dancing style was very different to the Meridian style, so he looked like he was going to have to wing it. He did decide however to follow one Meridian procedure for a first dance.

He had looked good playing the guitar on the roof to end the horn of hypnosis she hated to admit it but now she was glad they were in the dance listening to Matt playing music, in a non-creepy tune. He was a totally dorky dancer and she found it hilarious. He had completely gotten into the notion of taking her a dance and she was totally flattered by it. Even if she did have to take the plunge to ask. It had surprised her that no one else had asked her to the dance. She was used to multiple invitations, not that she would have said yes anyway. She must truly have stopped giving of a single vibe which was a little bit crazy. Even here it seemed pretty obvious that they were a pair. Out of breath from the day and the dancing she made a little comment at Caleb about his dancing and walked off with a wink, knowing he would get the message and follow. She grabbed them both a punch and then lead him outside. The outside was completely empty like she had imagined. Handing him the drink she sat down on a bench and he followed. She enjoyed the fresh air on her face.

"So I have something for you Cornelia, it is sort of a Meridian tradition."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small package.

"I didn't really know what to get but I thought this was nice and the girl in the shop agreed." He said with a shy smile.

"Before I open it, one thank you but two tell me about the traditions?"

"Well dances are a pretty big deal in Meridian, well they used to be. There are like a bunch of dances you're supposed to go to as you start progressing through a relationship. But when you go to a first dance you are supposed to buy your girl something to wear with her dress. I know it's a completely different kind of dance but you know who knows if we will get to do a Meridian one any time soon."

Cornelia smiled and blushed. This dance was so much more of a big deal to him then she imagined. She opened up the small package and saw a small silver bracelet with a daisy on it. It was perfect and she could feel herself tearing up at the gift. Looking up at him he could see the tears in the corners of her eyes. She leant forwards and kissed him on the cheek.

"Thank you, I really love it."

He blushed again. Then took her hand and they headed back into the dance.

What Cornelia didn't know is that in Meridian culture that first gift was incredibly important. It represented a promise to marriage. Not that Caleb planned on telling her that, times felt very different to when those traditions had been made. It still however meant a lot to him and now meant a lot to her. Their own little tradition.
