Final chapter. Remember, if you want to make a sequel it's adoptable. Just remember to credit me for the original story (and credit the makers of FMA and InuYasha). Also keep in mind that I might continue this story myself one day, but for now it's completed. I'm sorry if it's not the ending you wanted, but it was originally meant as only a side story fanfic right from the beginning, so the ending isn't too far off from what I was aiming for. (yes I was planning to kill Nina again. No, it's not cause I hate her or I'm a terrible person. It has more to do with Ed and Al's hardships that they have to face. That was the one thing that always haunted them, so she needed to be put to rest in a way that would let them rest easier at night.) K that's enough rambling.
Let me know what you think!
Message me if you're interested in continuing this series yourself!
The funeral ended. They buried Nina's body near the well where Ed and Al had first entered this world. Shippo and Sango made a flower wreathe and placed it over the grave.
"You didn't deserve this." Ed said, standing over the grave and wiping his tears.
Al had remained very quiet throughout the funeral, but now he spoke. "Ed, I want to make it so nobody has to suffer because of us."
Ed looked down. "I know. No matter how hard we try to keep people out of it, they always ended getting involved."
"You idiot!" Kagome shouted, startling the two boys.
"Huh?" Ed stood back.
"People get 'involved' because they care about you. You're their friends and family!" Kagome cried out. It was silent for a moment, while Kagome stood their fuming. Ed started to laugh.
"What's so funny?!" Kagome shouted, angry tears escaping her eyes.
"Nothing. Nothing." He just had just imagined Kagome as Winry with a wrench. He pulled the wrench out of his back pocket that Winry had given him. "You just sounded a lot like someone we know."
"Well, maybe that person is right and you should listen to them more."
"Yeah. Maybe, you're right." Ed went to stand on the edge of the well. "You coming Al?"
Al bowed. "Thank you for all that you've done." He joined Ed on the side of the well.
"Hey, InuYasha!" Ed called out.
"Hmm? What is it?" InuYasha hoped down from his tree raising an eyebrow.
"Next time you should come to our world. Goodbye!" And he and Al jumped into the well to be surrounded by a light and they were gone.
"Do you think they're going to be alright?" Miroku asked, concerned.
Sango smiled. "They'll be just fine."
The Elrics were in the portal between worlds. He and Alphonse were going back empty handed… again.
Ed waited out the journey, half expecting to encounter Truth. Sure enough, he saw Alphonse reach the end, and he was pulled into a white vast. He was expecting it though, so Truth did not get the reaction that he wanted.
"What do you want Truth?" Edward sighed. He was tired of being played with.
"Well that wasn't a very nice reaction. You should greet me properly." Truth laughed quietly to himself, enjoying Ed's anger.
"Screw that." Ed turned around, examining his surroundings. His portal of truth was back. He sighed in relief.
"Oh, don't be like that. I'm here to give you your reward." Truth's shoulders were shaking in amusement.
Ed blinked. "Reward?"
"You've given me a good time, but yet you received nothing in return. Don't you follow the rules of equivalent exchange?" Truth's smile became very sly.
"So what are you going to give me?" Ed crossed his arms. Something seemed fishy about this.
"I will answer any one question you have for me."
Ed didn't hesitate. "What do I need to get my brother back to normal?"
Truth answered back just as quickly. "Nothing. You already have everything you need with you now."
Ed stumbled back, confused. "What? What do you mean?"
"Sorry. I said only one question. Now time to go back to your brother." Truth nodded towards Ed's gate and it opened, pulling him back into his world.
"You bastard! Tell me what you mean!"
"Goodbye Edward Elric. We will see each other again, I'm sure." Truth waved as the door shut.
Edward woke up at the bottom of the well, Al had already managed to make it to the top.
"I figured you were talking to Truth again."
"Yeah." Ed pulled himself out of the well and onto the grassy hills of Resembool.
"So, what did he want?" Al pressed.
Ed glanced at Al from the corner of his eye and smiled. "Don't worry about it. Nothing important."
"Ed! He told you something, didn't he?"
Ed smirked. "Let's go back to see Winry before we go. It can't hurt to have her look at my arm one more time before we go back to Central."
"Oh! You want to see Winry?" Al said in a teasing voice.
"Yep." Ed said, before running down to the hill towards the Winry's house.
