*Logan's POV*
Today is the day. Austin and Addison are turning one. It has been amazing these past few months. Things have settled down and gotten a lot less chaotic. I've spent the morning decorating the apartment and getting things ready for the party with my dad and Cathy. Everything has to go well. Today James is coming back from treatment and it will be his first him seeing the twins. When he went away to deal with his anger, his doctor realized that he had more psychological problems then they thought. He was put on medication and moved back in with Kendall for a few years but then things took a turn for the worst. He has been in treatment for the past year so Kendall has been living with us and helping us with the babies. James is on new medication and supposedly doing better. Kendall will be moving out for good to live with him now.
"Logan, do you know when James is getting here?" Cathy has been freaking out all morning about him coming home.
"Should be any second now." As if on cue, there was a knocking on the door. I opened it and found James standing there.
"Hello Logan. May I come in?" I could tell by his voice that he was a bit nervous.
"Sure." He walked in and was immediately hugged by his mom.
"Hi mom. It's great to see you." They spent a few minutes catching up and talking with my dad while I continued to prep for the party. Eventually James made his way over to me.
"Hey Logan. Can we talk for a second?"
"Sure."
"Look I just want to say that I'm sorry for everything. When our parents got married, I never gave you a chance. Your a really great guy and I'm sorry for always treating you like you weren't important. And to be honest, I've always been jealous of you."
"Really? Why?"
"Well, for a lot of reasons. When my parents got a divorce, it shattered my family. I barely ever get to see my dad. You on the other hand, have it great. You get to visit your mom and sister all the time. Plus, your parents actually still talk and get along. Then there is the fact that things always seem to go your way. You ended up marrying an amazing guy, you live in this great house, and now you have two little bundles of joy to take care of. I feel like everything turned out perfect for you while I'm just a big mess."
"Your not just some big mess James. You have an amazing husband yourself. You live in a pretty nice house. Sure, you have your problems but we all do."
"I guess your right." My dad wandered over and told us that guest would be arriving soon. We had everything set up so now we would just have to wait. The first to arrive were my mom and sister. They had picked up the twins and taken them to them for a walk so we would have time to decorate. Then the rest of the relatives showed up and a few friends too. The only person missing was Carlos. He had to go to work this morning for a few hours but he should have been home by now. I pulled out my phone and dialed his number.
"Hello?" His voice was shaking and he sounded like he was crying.
"Hey babe. Is everything alright? You should have been home from work at least an hour ago. The guests are all here for the party."
"I know. I didn't go to work today. I went to the doctors instead. I don't know how to tell you this Logan but..."
"But what?!"
"I-" The line went dead and I dropped the phone.
