I woke up to the smell of bacon. I was hoping it wasn't a dream because I really like bacon. Then I remembered what had happened last night and woke up. I found myself on a comfortable couch. I started to look around and I noticed that Rose was sound asleep on the other couch. It was getting more and more strange because I felt like I have been in this house before, I just couldn't remember when?

"Where are we?" I said to myself, trying to remember the events of last night.

"Glad your finally awake" I heard a soft voice coming from the kitchen. I turned around and I found Emily cooking up some breakfast. Suddenly I knew I was at Emily's house "Your up early!" she said with a beautiful smile

"Ugh...Yeah!?...Um what t-time is it?" I asked. I felt like I should of asked 'how are you' but the first thing that popped in my head, I said

"8:00 am" She said looking out the window to the rising sun.

"Oh..." There was a long silence before I spoke again "So, why are Rose and I here?" I was trying really hard to remember last night.

"You don't remember?" She said laughing. I just shook my head and then she continued "Well remember what I told you that the shape shifters? How they patrol the town for any vampires?"

I nodded my head. "Well late last night several vampires came across the border and there wolves couldn't stop them because they were outnumbered."

"So why did me and Rose have to come here?!" I said, a little confused

"To protect you and Rose" UGH?!

"Why us and not somebody else? Why are we so special?!" I was happy that they wanted to save us, but still a little confused

"I can't tell you right now, but soon enough you will know why" Emily said. I didn't understand why she can't tell me now instead of later? I remembered that she said that Embry and Jared were suppose to tell us something, was this the something?

"I want chocolate ice cream with that to" Emily and I turned to Rose and she was sleep talking. I never knew Rose talked in her sleep. Emily and I both laughed at the ridiculous way she was sleeping

Then we got interrupted by the phone ringing.

"Hello" Emily said when she picked up the phone

I couldn't here a lot. The only part I could make out were 'Patrol all day'. Emily hung up the phone after saying 'I love you to'. So I'm guessing that was Sam

"Is everything okay?" I asked

"Yeah it's just that...The boys are going to be on patrol for the rest of the day" Emily said as she was pouring some bacon on to a plate.

Patrol? They are on patrol right now?

"Oh...Um Emily?" I asked a bit nervously

"Yeah" She turned around so she can see me

"Why is it so safe here" I was still wondering why me and Rose had to come here. Not that I wasn't thankful

"Well, the wolves will always be able to know if something happens if we are here and they will be able to reach us faster."

"How will they know if we are in trouble?" I asked, still trying to process the new information

"Well it's not really that they will know...but more like they will be able to feel." She was looking off into space.

Will Jared be able to feel if I am ever in danger?

"Hey!" Rose said as she was getting up.

"Rose how were you able to wake up so fast?" My eyes were following her as she made her way to me

"I've been awake, PFFFT! You know I don't sleep talk!" She said in a diva voice. Wow how stupid was I?

"So you heard our whole conversation?" I really didn't care if she did, we didn't say anything to secretive

"Of course!" She said with a big smile on her face. She then started sniffing the air

"What?" She made her way to the kitchen, but stopping at the plate of bacon.

"Do you want some?" Emily said letting out a small laugh. Emily laughs a lot, but it's one of those cute laughs

"Can I?" Rose unleashed her scariest weapon, her puppy dog eyes

"Of course!" Emily got out a bowl from the cabinet

"Do you want some to?" Emily stared at me

"Yes Please!" I said.

We all sat down and had some toast with some sunny-d to drink

It was fun. We all talked and laughed and me and Rose even learned some more interesting things about wolves. Even though Emily had told us a lot about wolves, I felt there was still something she wasn't telling us.

While we were eating breakfast I realized that the shape shifters weren't dangerous at all and instead, friendly. I felt like they were my family, even if I only personally knew them a little and only met all of them once.

Then something hit me. It felt like I was with my family. Before, mom, annoying baby Rose and I were all like this. Mom would make breakfast and then she would wake all of us up, along with dad, to come downstairs to eat and we would just have a lot of fun! Then we would leave to school and work...and all that boring stuff

"That was good!" Rose said interrupting my thoughts

"Yeah that was. Emily you are the best cook ever!" I started to grab the plates we used and washed them

"Thank you!" Emily said looking surprised at what I was doing. It was the least I can do.

"So I guess we will be going now!" Rose said grabbing my hand after I was done washing the dishes

"Oh GIRLS!" Emily blocked our way out

"Yes?" Rose and I said at the same time

"I am afraid you can't leave" What does she mean we can't leave!? I need to do thing at home to!

"Why?" Rose asked

"Because the vampires are still out there" Emily began "And I take it as my job to protect you guys." Emily was treating us like we were little kids. I mean, I know Rose is one, but I'm not!

Before Rose could say something I covered her mouth. I knew that look that Emily was giving us, it was the I am not going to budge look that mom use to give me all the time, and I always lost! Not that I ever won against her!

I directed Rose to the couch were we both sat down.

"Can we watch TV?" Rose asked, now focusing on the small TV that Emily had in her living room

"Of course you can" Emily handed us the remote. Then she went upstairs.

Rose turned on the TV and started flipping through the channels. She stopped at the Dora the explorer channel, and then she got all excited, like jumping up and down excited!

This was her favorite show. Since dad died, mom took our only TV that was in the living room and Rose had never been able to watch her TV again.

While Rose was watching TV, I started to think how it would be dating a wolf. It was also pretty exciting that in my life, I saw something that amazing, and even knowing that wolfs really do exist was cool

I wondered what it would be like for me and Jared to get married someday and have kids? How good of a dad will he be? All these questions started to fill up in my head about Jared and I and having a future together, but one question really stuck with me... Will we ever be able to have a normal life together?
